The Queen of Spain ditched brights for icy blue to chair a meeting in Andalusia this month and the colour was the perfect pairing for her tailored outfit.

Letizia joined the Directors of the Cervantes Institute's Centres wearing a long-line Hugo Boss waistcoat and elasticated trousers to match. They were such a pale blue that they almost looked white and the subtle hue emphasised the minimalist designs.

If you're not someone who has a lot of colourful pieces in your summer capsule wardrobe, going for something very pale like this is an easy place to start. Cool colours look gorgeous against neutrals like white, ivory and grey and bring a refreshing, understated quality to an outfit.

You can just make out that the Queen was wearing a white cami underneath her waistcoat and the colour contrast was incredibly subtle. Adding a vest under a more low-cut piece like this is an easy way to boost confidence wearing it and ensure it's not too much for certain occasions.

However, waistcoats can be worn as tops in their own right too and for the most flattering fit, I'd either go for a cropped design or a longer one.

Something that falls to the natural waist could cut off your frame at an awkward point, whereas shorter waistcoats accentuate the waist. Longer styles often cinch in too and when worn with coordinating trousers, they give a lovely silhouette-elongating effect.

The Queen of Spain kept her ensemble for the meeting simple and wore a pair of block-heeled Mary Jane shoes by Sezane and a white Furla bag. They allowed the clothing to do all the talking and are versatile enough to work into so many different summer outfits too.

This is exactly what you want from accessories and I'd also go for a white bag and shoes with ice-blue, though comfortable sandals or espadrilles would be my pick over heels day-to-day. If you've got a light blue top or blouse, you could pair these with white jeans and an icy blue dress would be wonderful for a wedding or special party.

Queen Letizia has quite a few pale blue items, from pencil skirts and blouses, to midi-dresses and other suits and each time she tends to keep everything else pared-back. Although silver is a cool-toned metal and would complement the colour of Letizia's co-ord perfectly, she doesn't worry too much about this unofficial rule.

She chose a gold chain necklace for the Directors of the Cervantes Institute's Centres meeting and it just goes to show that you can wear your favourite pieces with cool colours too, no matter what undertones they have.

There are certain colours that always surge in popularity in summer and others that can feel too dark or too muted. However, I love wearing black all year round and all it takes is some careful consideration to incorporate this deep tone into seasonal outfits.

Queen Letizia of Spain nailed this with her outfit for a meeting of the Princess of Girona Foundation's youth advisory board on 15th July. She knows what to wear in the heat and reached for her white Hugo Boss midi dress and a pair of lace-up espadrilles.

This midi frock has been in her collection for a while and it has short floaty sleeves and an abstract black floral design that breaks up the solid white. Although it's been speculated that her Espadrilles Picón wedges are navy, I think they look more like black and that makes more sense as it would coordinate with everything else. The Queen wore the Letizia espadrilles and they had the classic neutral jute sole and black uppers and ribbons.

If you feel more secure with a strap, you could swap out lace-up wedges for Mary Jane ones and they'd still be stunning. Given that Her Majesty's frock was so pared-back, her lace-up espadrilles were a great choice and added some extra structure to her ensemble.

The combination of a midi-length summer dress and wedges isn't ground-breaking but it is timeless and simple to recreate. Sticking to monochrome tones also made Letizia's style more striking and sophisticated than a vibrant pairing might have been.

The contrast draws the eye and yet the overall look isn't over-complicated or busy. She finished her outfit off with a black woven leather handbag by Massimo Dutti and carried it by the top handle strap. Even her white floral earrings matched.

The Queen of Spain really stood out next to her husband King Felipe and their daughters Leonor and Sofia at the meeting, as they all wore a pop of bright colour. The night before at the Princess of Girona Awards 2026, Letizia wore all-black and earlier in July she also wore a head-to-toe black look for the ABC Journalism Awards.

There's no question what the trending fashion colour of 2026 is and Queen Letizia just gave a masterclass in styling tomato red in the most elegant way. This shade has been named Royal Ascot's first ever Colour of the Year and it's far brighter than last year's most-seen hue, butter yellow.

Because of this it can seem a little daunting, though tomato red is that pop of colour that your summer wardrobe will thank you for. Something like this would make a beautiful summer wedding guest dress and since this colour isn't as popular for bridesmaid gowns you're less likely to match.

Her Majesty styled hers with red block heel slingbacks and a leather clutch. Colour-coordination is the ultimate royal trick to give an outfit a polished edge. Since tomato red is vibrant, many of us might prefer to go neutral with our accessories and white, tan and gold all work brilliantly.

Blue denim also looks great as a contrast if you're looking to incorporate this trending shade into casual outfits. In recent years we’ve really seen the royals embracing a uniform of sorts, with everyone from the Princess of Wales to Zara Tindall and Queen Letizia of Spain stepping out in an array of colourful suits. Now this season the trio have also been spotted reaching for the same type of shirt to go with their tailored staples - and it’s a 2026 trend.

Lightweight, elegant tops are something my spring capsule wardrobe is definitely lacking and Kate, Zara and Letizia have been showcasing the beauty of pussybow blouses. They’re often considered quite "proper" - which works for senior royals - though they also have a vintage feel.

The Princess of Wales has multiple in her collection and most recently wore a ruby-red sleeveless blouse with a tie-neck detail by ME+EM, though perhaps her most-worn is her pastel pink long-sleeved pussybow shirt.

Queen Letizia of Spain went for a plain ivory pussybow blouse with grey and brown checked wide-leg trousers on 11th March and took off her blazer for a slightly more casual look.

The feminine elegance of the royals’ go-to spring shirts makes them naturally smart, though you can easily dress them down more than Kate, Zara and Letizia do.

Denim would work so well with them, especially relaxed silhouettes like wide-leg, straight-leg or barrel-leg jeans where you could tuck the top in neatly to create a smart-casual outfit.

Both elements would balance each other and depending on how dressed-up or dressed-down you want to be, you could finish the look with white trainers or heeled boots. The neck ribbon on these shirts can also be different lengths or tied in different ways.

The Princess of Wales and Queen Letizia favour going for a long, draped bow whilst at Cheltenham Zara Tindall’s bow was shorter and crisper. This is how the late Princess Diana used to wear her pussybow blouses back in the day too. The shorter and tighter the bow, the more preppy the blouse tends to look so it ultimately depends what effect you prefer and what suits the occasion best.

I don’t follow a lot of fashion colour rules but one thing I always tend to do is avoid wearing dark footwear with lighter outfits. I always worry the contrast will be too stark and yet this definitely wasn’t the case with Queen Letizia of Spain’s look for the announcement of the 2026 Princess of Girona Foundation's CreaEmpresa award winner.

She stepped out in sunny Huesca wearing head-to-almost-toe pastel teal. This blue-green hue isn’t a specific 2026 fashion colour trend but the muted undertone was part of why I think it looked so gorgeous with her chunky black heeled loafers. Compared to some of Letizia’s go-to outfits, this was quite casual, and featured a long-sleeved fine-knit jumper and wide-leg trousers.

These are items that many people will already have in their spring capsule wardrobe and they’re timeless and easy to mix and match with different tops and bottoms. The more colourful you go, the more you might have to spend a bit of time styling and pastels are soft enough that they’re generally easier.

Although Her Majesty’s knitwear and trousers weren’t by the same brand, the colour coordination was almost perfect and it made her overall look feel polished.

You don’t have to be quite so exact about it, but the royals regularly wear similar colours all together to get this effect. Typically they’d also extend this to the shoes and I might’ve expected Letizia to pick out teal heels or even neutral shoes.

Instead, the Queen went for bold black loafers which added edginess. They were by Massimo Dutti and had a chunky heel and rounded toe. Made from smooth leather, the texture and tone of these were quite the contrast against the pale teal and she balanced this by adding a black belt so that her shoes weren’t the only black outfit component. A black handbag or jacket would also be great alternatives to tie in with dark shoes.

"I love a sleek black leather loafer for this tricky time of year, and I particularly like the chunky heel on Queen Letizia's," says woman&home’s Digital Fashion Ecommerce Editor, Caroline Parr. Flat loafers are equally versatile and stunning and the Queen of Spain regularly wears flat shoes, but if you’re going to pick up a heeled pair, I’d advise following her example and going for a chunky block design. Her Majesty has worn these loafers a lot over the past few years and this recent outing won’t be their last.

Queen Letizia met the finalists in the CreaEmpresa category, including the winner Patricia Ayma, in this stage of the awards, which recognise young individuals who have entrepreneurial initiative.

Party season is slowly edging nearer and not everyone is a fan of head-to-toe sparkles or festive frocks. If you’re someone who prefers to nod to the season in a more understated way, then something like Queen Letizia of Spain’s cosy yet elegant fashion formula is a brilliant alternative.

She wore it to the Francisco Cerecedo Journalism Awards and it would also work as a stunning date night outfit or Christmas soiree attire and it’s simply a jumper and a dressy skirt. Both pieces are old season, though the beauty of the royal’s combination is that it’s so versatile and items like this will always come back year after year.

Knitwear is an essential in a winter capsule wardrobe and whilst some slouchy designs might not work as well with a skirt like Letizia’s, the best cashmere jumpers or wool knits feel elevated. They’re also warm, which sadly can’t be said for every party outfit.

The Queen of Spain tucked her jumper neatly into the high-rise waistband of her long skirt to create a smooth silhouette. This is a simple but effective way to give this formula a sense of sophistication and the shape of her skirt helped with this.

It was a maxi-length column skirt, though A-line or pencil skirts would also be beautiful. Something more voluminous runs the risk of looking so formal with the knitwear that the contrast of casual and dressy doesn’t quite work.

Letizia’s skirt was classic and the sequins did the talking here, bringing some glamour whilst being balanced by the soft cashmere jumper. She finished off her outfit for the awards with burgundy kitten heels and a clutch, as well as a statement gold chain necklace.

You could also wear an ensemble like the Queen’s with knee high boots for added warmth and if sequins aren’t for you, why not swap an embellished skirt for something more subtle? A velvet, satin or suede skirt also brings an element of texture and a dressed-up feel.

Queen Letizia’s fashion formula can also be followed without coordinating the colour of your jumper and skirt. The royals love colour matching and do it all the time, but going for a plain black, brown or white jumper with a brighter skirt or vice versa would look chic too.

That’s why it’s such an easy option to choose when you don’t want to wear a jumpsuit or party dress. I personally really like Her Majesty’s burgundy outfit as red feels very seasonal and on-trend, as do forest greens and metallics.

Letizia has worn a lot of darker wine tones and pinks in recent weeks, and does love re-wearing her favourite looks so we can hope to see her in this combination again.

Summer isn’t over yet and with another heatwave on the horizon and holidays in the diary for many people, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy wearing your favourite summer dresses and sandals. Across Europe the royals are on their annual break and Queen Letizia of Spain is making the most of off-duty dressing in Mallorca.

Her holiday outfits are some of the most wearable royal looks I’ve seen and her pink shirred dress and espadrille flats are the epitome of her signature style - elegant and comfortable. It saw her from a trip to the Joan Miro exhibition "Paysage-Miro" through to a relaxed family dinner.

The shoes in particular are a design worth incorporating into any summer capsule wardrobe as they’re a great alternative to wedges or heels for any BBQs, garden parties and other events.

Tie straps helped to keep them secure on the Queen’s feet and the soft ecru colour was the perfect counterpart to her vivid pink dress. It might sound simple but it’s by far the easiest way to wear brighter colours - pair them with neutral accessories.

The combination means that the colour palette of your ensemble naturally feels balanced. Queen Letizia’s dress was the Boss Dalza dress which you can get for £170 from Very right now and she has it in candy pink. Don’t feel like you have to go for something quite this luxurious to achieve a similar look, though.

Midi dresses with shirring are having a surge in popularity right now and I’m a big fan because of how comfy this design is. Shirred bodices have a lovely amount of stretch, so you feel secure in them and yet there’s breathing room and they don’t feel clinging on a hot day.

The Queen of Spain loves a pop of colour and pink is one of her favourites, especially at this time of year. Candy pink is such a fun choice for holidays, though if you’re not as keen on vibrant tones, a black or white option would be just as stunning.

Queen Letizia’s dress fell to just above her ankles, giving a lovely glimpse of her espadrille flats and both of these pieces have lots of versatility. The shoes in particular could be worn with everything from jeans and vest tops, to skirts and other flowy frocks.

Queen Letizia’s latest look is definitely giving me summer outfit ideas and despite being the most senior woman in the Spanish Royal Family, she’s not afraid to embrace trends.

Stepping out with her daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia in Mallorca for a screening during the Atlantida Film Festival, the Queen got on board with the dropped waist trend in a very elegant way. Her polka dot dress was by one of her favourite designers, Carolina Herrera, and was part of the brand’s 2020 collection.

This shows how much it’s remained a firm favourite in her summer wardrobe. Pastel and floral summer dresses are always hugely popular this time of year, but this piece was entirely monochrome and covered with statement polka dots.

Queen Letizia isn’t the only royal to favour spotted clothing - the Princess of Wales and Queen Camilla are also big fans. However, they tend to prefer micro polka dots and this print was far bolder, with the large white spots standing out against the mottled black and white background.

Her dress was sleeveless, with a rounded high neckline and a shift silhouette. This more relaxed shape is perfect if you don’t know what to wear in the heat as it skims the body without clinging and if you combine this with a breathable natural fabric like cotton or linen, you’re on to a winner.

Queen Letizia’s dress had a dropped waist at hip-height and this detail has surged in popularity in recent months. It can feel a little daunting to style as it’s not always the most forgiving shape, however Her Majesty’s way of wearing this trend makes it look so effortless and chic.

Going for neutral tones and billowing designs leading into the dropped waist helps to make the final effect more understated and softer. She added to the relaxed feel by attending the screening of En un Lugar de la Mente in flat black sandals from TKEES.

As always, Queen Letizia was all about the comfort with her shoes and these sandals combine a delicate, strappy aesthetic with a cushioned insole and rubber outsole. When you want a sandal that you can wear all day long in the summer or on holiday, it’s well worth checking out options with cushioning or a footbed design for support.

The senior royal matched her Antik Batik tote to her shoes and this large handbag not only gave her plenty of room for her essentials, it also brought an off-duty edge to her ensemble compared to a sleek clutch or top handle bag.

This was one of the most wearable royal outfits and since Letizia and her family always start off their annual break in Mallorca, it signals she’s already in holiday mode. To recreate this look in a way that’s a little more suited to a cooler British summer's day I’d swap the sandals for black or white trainers and layer a denim jacket over a dropped waist dress.

A slightly cropped jacket will fall at a lovely point to still show off the waist detail and there are plenty of designs out there where the dropped waist is not quite so low down, making it less challenging to style.

Like so many people I often find myself steering well clear of strapless dresses and tops in the summer, even though they’re perfect to wear in the heat. These styles can be daunting, especially when you’re wondering what to style them with. But Queen Letizia has just convinced me to pick up one of the best strapless bras and give bandeau dresses a try.

We rarely see members of the British Royal Family going fully strapless, though the Princess of Wales does occasionally step out in one-shoulder or bardot designs with a panel running across the neckline. Queen Letizia’s black bandeau Sybilla dress was incredibly fashion-forward.

She wore it to the ABC Journalism Awards in Madrid and as a former journalist herself, Her Majesty went all-out with the glamour. Her dress had a straight neckline and fell to midi length.

The bodice was smoothly fitted and the skirt was A-line, making the whole design sleeker and chicer than a ballgown would have been. It was plain black and otherwise very simple and this is a good thing to look out for when you’re choosing a bandeau dress.

"I think there's something about strapless dresses that can feel quite bare, but when you embrace them, you realise they're not so scary," she says, revealing that there is a middle-ground worth trying too.

Caroline adds, "The Princess of Wales has, on several occasions, opted for an off-shoulder neckline, which is a great compromise for anyone not feeling ready to ditch the straps completely. Either way, foundations are key: find the best strapless bra for you, and wear your hair up or tucked back like Letizia to show off the neckline in all its glory. A simple necklace will always elevate it further, too."

This advice is something I’ll be taking note of and the Queen of Spain did indeed follow these steps with her outfit for the awards. She typically chooses kitten heels nowadays with all her tailored suits and summer dresses, and she re-wore her black patent slingbacks from Magrit.

Her black flapover clutch bag was also by Magrit and she brought some contrast with her statement pearl necklace. This was quite the piece and instantly drew the eye to her decolletage and the neckline of her dress, but in an elegant way.

Although the pearls were large the necklace was ultimately a simple design like Caroline mentioned. The Queen wore her brunette hair loose and pushed back over her shoulders to showcase the gorgeous strapless dress in all its glory.

You don’t have to go quite as formal as she did to recreate a similar look for summer. So many black bandeau dresses out there right now have more of a casual, sundress feel with comfortable shirring on the bodice. These can be styled with slip-on sandals, a raffia bag and a hat on holiday or when the weather is scorching at home.

A pastel-toned strapless design would make a great wedding guest dress with higher heels or espadrilles. Neutral hues are the most versatile and an easier way into wearing a bolder dress style, though, as they will go with any accessories.

Whether you’re wondering what to wear to the races or scouring the internet for the best wedding guest dresses, we often think of stiletto heels as the natural accompaniment for formal-wear. This doesn’t have to be the case, though.

Court shoes and stiletto sandals are classic, but block heels can be just as chic and they’re also more comfortable. I often find that they have more stability than kitten heels too and Queen Letizia wore a beautiful pair of Boss Melanie sandals as she and King Felipe marked National Armed Forces Day in Tenerife.

The couple presided over a military parade and laid a wreath in remembrance of those who lost their lives fighting for Spain. Her Majesty went for a white and blue theme with her outfit and styled a Carolina Herrera embroidered dress with her block heels.

She wore these Melanie sandals a lot last summer and I’m not surprised she’s already brought them back out for this summer. They have a 5cm heel, a padded strap running across the foot and a secure ankle strap too.

They’re made from leather and Queen Letizia’s are the white colourway with gold hardware. Neutral shoes might not be exciting for everyone, but they’re worth investing in because they work with any other hue so you can get a lot of wear out of them.

Mid-height block heels are perfect for special occasions and date night outfits and can also work well for more casual day-to-day looks. In contrast, stilettos are something many people will only want to wear for a particular event or for a shorter period of time.

In recent years the Queen of Spain has moved away from high heels in favour of trainers, block heels and kitten heels. Kitten heels are still quite thin and so you can find them a bit too wobbly and challenging to walk on grass in.

Block heels won’t sink into the earth as easily which makes them great for garden parties, Wimbledon, outdoor weddings and picnics. The senior royal matched her footwear to her dress as the white tone complemented the base colour of its design.

Running up the left side from the hem and down from the right shoulder were delicate floral motifs that looked a lot like bluebells. They drew the eye without being overpowering and the dress’s silhouette was modest, with a crew neckline, midi length and short sleeves.

This was ideal for such a poignant occasion. Queen Letizia added a touch more blue into her ensemble with her clutch bag and topaz and diamond drop earrings. Keeping to just a few key colours within an outfit gives it a sophisticated and cohesive edge.

It’s an approach the royals often take and the Queen’s outfit felt very elegant and understated because of it. We’re used to seeing her in power suits or bright dresses at engagements so her white block sandals and flowing dress were a little different.

Perhaps the most iconic of all boucle jackets are those crafted by Chanel and over the years they’ve become synonymous with classic sophistication. The luxurious pieces will always be original, but we’ve spotted so many stunning boucle designs recently.

These embellishments were minimal and so didn’t disrupt the understated beauty that we love about boucle jackets. Queen Letizia went for a snowy white colourway that isn’t sold anymore but French clothing brand Maje still makes this design in an equally versatile ecru.

What you might not have realised looking at her outfit at the awards, though, is that this jacket is part of a two-piece. Maje has several 2-in-1 dresses and this jacket forms the top, with a matching boucle mini dress underneath.

We've all got a floating maxi skirt hanging up in our wardrobes, though ours may not be from luxury Spanish designer Adolfo Dominguez, and her plain and simple crew neck jumper is a staple that's easily paired with the style for an elevated everyday look.

There are always going to be some style combinations that we wear on repeat and others which sound like they’ll be a little too much - like pinstripes and lavender purple. Black leather jackets will always have a place in our collection but I'm so entranced by Queen Letizia of Spain’s red Mango jacket that I'm feeling like it’s time to switch up our spring capsule wardrobe a little. There’s something about the ruby tone that feels extra special and would bring extra vibrancy to an outfit. Red is also one of those bright colours that is easier to style than you might think.

Denim looks amazing with red and so if you’re ever unsure what to wear with a red jacket or any other red item, pairing it with jeans is a safe bet. Burgundy was one of the most popular shades for autumn/winter and although red isn’t a specific spring/summer fashion trend for 2025, a ruby red like the Queen of Spain’s jacket and bag is always going to be a classic colour.

If you want to dip your toe into wearing this colour too then starting with accessories like a bag, shoes or even a scarf on colder days is a good idea. That way the red won’t be as much of the focus of your outfit and you can get a lot of wear out of them with your go-to neutral pieces. Alternatively, you can go all-out with a full red outfit - just like Queen Letizia has several times over the past few weeks ahead of this new appearance.

Chic yet cosy, the Queen of Spain joined King Felipe and their daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia for a visit to Sotres on 26th October, as it was named 2024 Best Asturian Village. Walking down the beautiful streets on a grey October day, Queen Letizia’s checked coat, jeans and chunky boots were such a cosy combination - and many of these items will already be in people’s winter capsule wardrobe.

Her Majesty is known for her love of tailoring so it’s perhaps no surprise that her coat had a blazer-style design, with a single-breasted silhouette. It fastened with two black buttons at the front and had a lapel collar and handy side pockets.

Adding to its beauty was the pattern and the black and white houndstooth check was so striking without affecting the coat’s wearability. To achieve a similar look, you don’t have to necessarily choose waterproof walking boots, as any boots which are comfy and have a chunkier sole would be a brilliant choice for completing your winter outfits. Many of us will already have Mango items in our winter capsule wardrobe already and we’ve been tempted to add another after seeing Queen Letizia’s chic Mango trousers. She attended an event focused on World Mental Health Day on 17th October wearing an elegant two-piece suit that’s understood to be from the brand and a pair of patent leather loafers.

The trousers were particularly stunning and flared out at the bottom, with a slightly more fitted cut at the top of the leg. Queen Letizia’s trousers appear to be a £79.99 pair from Mango which are - unsurprisingly! - selling out fast, but are still available in several sizes.

They are a soft heather grey which is such a beautiful neutral tone for winter and makes a change from wearing black, navy and brown which are such popular colours for this time of year. Grey is also very versatile as it goes with all other shades, making a pair of grey trousers like Queen Letizia’s chic Mango trousers an investment well worth making for your wardrobe.

Her choice of a flared silhouette is also especially comfortable as it’s not tight fitting on your legs and has more of a fun edge compared to straight leg or very fitted trousers. Although they have an inherent smart feel, you can easily style them with everything from a T-shirt to a fitted lightweight knit or your best wool jumpers to make them more casual.

For this official World Mental Health Day event in Madrid, Queen Letizia took a different styling approach and chose to accentuate the tailoring even more by pairing her trousers with a matching blazer. This blazer is also selling quickly and we can certainly see why. Like her grey flared trousers, the design of this blazer is timeless and it’s easy to wear with a range of other items.

It had a double-breasted fit and was also made of a breathable and warm wool mix fabric. The buttons were black, giving it an element of contrast, and this coordinated with her lace-trimmed black top which was just visible underneath. The Queen of Spain finished off her outfit for this event - at which she gave a powerful speech focusing on mental health - with a pair of trendy black patent loafers.

Her Majesty is a huge fan of wearing shoes that look sensational but don’t mean she has to compromise on comfort and she’s often seen stepping out in kitten heels or block heels. Her loafers had a chunky, low block heel and the tongue of the shoe rose quite high up her foot with a smooth curved shape. Loafers and especially chunkier styles of loafer have been very on-trend in recent years and whilst Queen Letizia wore hers with flares, they are also one of the best shoes to wear with wide-leg trousers. The block heel likely made them very comfortable to wear as well as trendy and they looked wonderful with the rest of her outfit as she attended this event in Madrid.

World Mental Health Day was 10th October this year and the 2024 theme was “Mental Health at Work”, which highlights the importance of addressing mental health in the workplace, for the benefit of people, organisations and communities.

We’re used to seeing the royals wearing timeless investment pieces, but many of them also love incorporating more affordable items into their regal wardrobes. Queen Letizia of Spain in particular has often been spotted wearing Mango staples and her latest look featured one of the most beautiful braided bags from this Spanish brand. Her Majesty visited Galicia with King Felipe to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the swearing-in of the flag of the King’s navy class. For their time in Galicia, Queen Letizia went for an elevated casual outfit that included light blue straight leg jeans, a crisp white shirt and the top handle handbag.

It was lined and the braided detailing brings to mind the raffia and woven styles that were so popular this summer, but the leather makes it far more autumnal.

An affordable black bag is a must-have for this season as the colour goes with everything and the size of Queen Letizia’s bag is great for day-to-day, as it can easily fit all your essentials.

Alternatively, a bag in a similar size and shape would also be lovely in another neutral tone like tan, brown or beige, as these shades are equally effortless to match with any of your favourite clothing pieces. Her Majesty’s Mango bag matched the colour of her shoes, which looked like they could have been the same pair of Boss leather loafers she wore to a private dinner in Galicia the night before.

On this occasion she also carried her beloved Mango bag and it seems this is a style pairing she’s very fond of. Coordinating your shoes and your bag is a brilliant tip if you want your outfit to have an instant sense of cohesion. Queen Letizia’s loafers had a minimal design with a very low heel and the smooth leather echoed the texture of her bag’s handles too.

Had the weather been colder, a pair of her best black boots would have been equally lovely here, as would a black leather jacket. With this outfit, Queen Letizia showcased her casual styling credentials and her love of her affordable Mango bag definitely has us tempted to add a similar piece to our collection.

Once you find the best jeans for your body type they naturally become your most-worn style, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not worth branching out and trying other designs occasionally too. One of the most classic jeans styles that works for everything from running errands to an evening out is the humble straight-leg jean. Not quite as relaxed as wide-leg jeans and nowhere near as streamlined as skinny jeans, they are a lovely balance between being comfortable and incredibly elegant.

She went to watch the Men's Single MS3 Round of 32 match between Alexander Ohgren of Sweden and Eder Rodriguez of Spain on 1st September and also met with members of Team Spain. For this outing the Queen of Spain wore a patterned Paralympic T-shirt tucked into her light blue, straight-leg jeans. The white T-shirt had short sleeves, a crew-neckline and pops of lime green, red, blue, yellow and black across it. 

The design was reportedly inspired by the work of Pablo Picasso and the T-shirt looked so chic with Queen Letizia’s choice to wear lighter-toned blue jeans. They reflected the brightness of the hues on her top and also gave her whole look a relaxed feel. The straight-leg silhouette isn’t something we see often from Her Majesty, but it worked so well here for an occasion where she wanted to look semi-smart.

The more form-fitting shape balanced the casualness of the lighter blue tone and the high-waisted fit was gorgeous. This is something that’s always good to look out for if you want to accentuate your waist as high-waisted designs are so flattering for this. At its heart this was a very simple outfit comprising three wardrobe staples - a T-shirt, relaxed blue jeans and white trainers. She looked so put-together throughout her time at the Paralympics and we can’t help feeling that the Queen of Spain will be making more appearances at the Games before they come to an end on 8th September.

Spotted leaving an intimate dinner with friends at Madrid's La Lonja del Mar restaurant, Letizia looked stunning in an all-white monochrome outfit. She paired some relaxed-fit, straight-leg linen trousers, a style that's one of 2024's biggest fashion trends, with a simple white shirt to create a slouched silhouette that looked as comfortable as it did stylish.

The royal was sporting a sleek pair of nude sandals, the Tanit Butter sandals from Spanish brand Trenza, and tied in the neutral shade with the strap of her intricately crocheted handbag. The bag, the now sold-out Ainara bag from Spanish-based crocheter Josune, was the perfect choice for the laid-back outfit, with it's bright pops of colour adding some fun against the subtle tones.

Queen Letizia of Spain is embracing summer holiday season in style right now and recently enjoyed a day in Palma de Mallorca with her daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, and her mother-in-law Queen Sofia.

Queen Letizia decided that minimal makeup, a floaty tie-dye co-ord and a bright crochet bag was the way to go. Whilst we love her usual favourite pink-toned smokey eye look, this approach was every bit as stunning. It looked as if she was wearing the merest hint of mascara and she was fresh-faced and glowy in the Mallorca sunshine.

Keeping to the relaxed, off-duty theme with her holiday outfit, Queen Letizia opted for a Babbaki two-piece in a fun tie-dye pattern. As we know, pink is one of her go-to shades and this outfit is remarkably similar in its feel to the halterneck dress she wore out for dinner a few days earlier paired with the embellished Gala sandals by Pedro Garcia. The co-ord included a floaty maxi skirt with an asymmetric hem and a sleeveless top with a peplum frill.

Everything from the design to the colour of this outfit was beautifully feminine and exuded a sense of fun. The tie-dye pattern incorporated a vivid fuchsia pink and petal pink hues which contrasted yet complemented each other perfectly. A more abstract print like this is always a lovely choice for a summer holiday when many of us find ourselves drawn to the brighter and more unique pieces in our summer capsule wardrobe.    

Queen Letizia took the playful theme of her outfit one step further with her fabulous crochet crossbody bag. Unlike her tan Trenza flat sandals and gold star-shaped drop earrings, this bag isn’t the kind of accessory that goes seamlessly with every single outfit, but it’s so gorgeous for precisely this reason as a statement bag. 

It had a tan crossbody strap and the cream crochet base of the bag had pops of blue, pink, yellow, green, red and orange within its design, which resembled a sun or flower. From the look of the way the strap was attached it seems as though it might be possible to detach it and carry this as a clutch too, but for a day out and about a crossbody is such a practical choice. Woman & Home’s Digital Fashion Editor, Caroline Parr, is also a big fan of crochet and especially admires Queen Letizia’s bag.

“Crochet is one of my favourite trends for this year, and a bag is a great way to try it out. A knitted bag is super soft, super roomy and will add a hint of boho to any outfit,” Caroline explains. “The multicoloured design of Queen Letizia's makes it a refreshing alternative to a classic black crossbody bag too.”

The Queen of Spain had plenty of room for her essentials inside her bag and her look in Mallorca has not only reminded us how much we love minimal makeup holiday days, but has inspired us to add a fun bag into our collection. The Spanish Royal Family spend time in Mallorca every summer and it’s lovely to see Her Majesty enjoying quality time with her family during this break from her royal duties.

Queen Letizia’s love of her best white trainers from Vivobarefoot has cemented her place as the Queen of Comfy Shoes this summer, though she’s also taken a shine to practical yet beautiful sandals too. In recent weeks Her Majesty has been favouring block-heeled sandals from Boss, though for a low-key family dinner in Mallorca on 4th August she went for glittering flat sandals by Pedro Garcia. These were styled with the most fabulous outfit and Queen Letizia’s candy pink halterneck dress by Virginia Vald is now on our wish-list along with her shoes. 

The dress had a dipped hem design but was still a very elegant midi length even at its shortest point. The skirt flared out subtly from the bodice which rose up into a stunning halterneck detail. Halternecks aren’t commonly worn by the royals but this one was such a sophisticated take on this classic design.

Queen Letizia’s dress might have quite a classic silhouette but the colours and patterns added an instant fun feel to it. The Queen of Spain is a huge fan of wearing pink and her dress combined both bright candy pink and pastel hues in its geometric floral pattern which ran all over and immediately drew the eye. 

The contrasting pinks added depth to the print and whilst this was Queen Letizia’s outfit for a family meal, we wouldn’t think twice about it being one of the best wedding guest dresses too. If you aren’t a fan of halternecks, a pink patterned dress with a different neckline would still have a similar sense of fun and vibrancy and would be perfect for summer occasions.

Her Majesty could easily have dressed her candy pink dress up by adding a pair of pink or white heels. However, as we know, Queen Letizia loves her comfortable footwear, and for a family dinner her embellished slip-on Gala sandals by Pedro Garcia were a great choice.

They had a neutral-toned footbed and several silk satin straps that crossed over the top of her foot. Each strap was covered with tiny pavé Swarovski crystals that caught the light in such a lovely way. They were also accompanied for their holiday meal out by Queen Sofia’s second cousin Tatiana Radziwil and her husband Jean Henri Fruchaud. The Spanish Royal Family traditionally enjoys a summer holiday in Mallorca every year before returning to Madrid.

The Spanish Queen honoured one of France’s greatest designers, Christian Dior, as she attended a reception for Olympic athletes in Paris. As she arrived at the Spanish Embassy, she was photographed wearing a beautiful sleeveless midi dress from Dior, which had intricate beading and embroidery.

Part of the designer’s 2024 Spring Couture Collection, the gown was suitably lavish as the black bodice was embroidered with a golden Fleur-de-Lis, which has long been a symbol of royalty in France. The bodice even featured a chain of delicate beadwork, which emphasised the gown’s hourglass silhouette.

Though this pair of Letizia's designer heels don't feature a statement stiletto, the lowkey black sandals boast a sweet bow detail with a chic resin pearl embellishment that add just the right amount of glamour.

Blending seamlessly with her monochromatic outfit, the quilted black Dior piece was the perfect timeless accessory. The Spanish royal donned a gorgeous tweed jacket for her latest public appearance at the headquarters of the Association for the Prevention, Reintegration, and Care of Prostituted Women (APRAMP) in Madrid.

The classic piece was designed and crafted at the APRAMP fashion workshop in Madrid, by human trafficking survivors. APRAMP is a Spanish organisation, created in 1984, and is dedicated to supporting those who have suffered sexual exploitation and forced prostitution, working towards a society free from sexual violence. 

Her Majesty completed the look with a pair of high-waisted black culottes and black Mary-Jane style ballet flats from Adeba, as well as some simple gold hoop style earrings.

As well as having an emotive meaning behind it and rasing awareness for an important cause, Queen Letizia's jacket also feeds into a timeless fashion trend. Queen Letizia was straight back to work following a trip to Guatemala making an appearance at a business awards ceremony in Madrid. Letizia attended the Euros De Tu Nómina on Tuesday 11th June, an event in collaboration with Santander Bank workers who have been fundraising for different social projects.

Although she would’ve used a scrunchie or another hair tie to secure her hairstyle perfectly in place, the Queen used a simple trick to disguise this. Wrapping a small section of hair around the base of her ponytail and keeping it in place with discreet pins meant that the hair band wasn’t visible and made this style look even more seamless and sophisticated.

We rarely see Queen Letizia wearing her hair up nowadays and a high ponytail like this is a fabulous look for her. Having her hair pulled back from her face also showcased her stunning face makeup which featured her signature glowy base. On her cheeks was a hint of rose-pink blusher and she matched this to her lipstick, though her eyes were the star of Her Majesty’s makeup show here.

Queen Letizia loves to go for eye makeup that’s similar to Duchess Sophie’s subtle smokey eye look, but hers tends to incorporate more pink, light berry and copper tones. 

She very much stuck to what she knows works for her in Guatemala with a wash of eyeshadow in these shades and brought the products right underneath her eye too.

This is a virtually identical eye makeup look to the one she wore for a State Visit to Denmark in November 2023 and at the time Sarah Amelia Fogg, Celebrity Brow Expert, Permanent Makeup Artist and Founder of Brows by Sarah, shared how to get the look. She explained that Queen Letizia appeared to have a "rose gold/copper shade all over the lid" which winged out "to elongate her eyes". 

"I would recommend starting with applying a gentle layer of powder bronzer to your eyelids to act as an eyeshadow which will maintain the warm, golden look without adding too much unwanted colour to the face," the Celebrity Brow Expert said, before suggesting that darker tones like copper could be used to build up the look. 

Sarah believes that the "key to nailing this eyeshadow look" is also having a "flawless set of brows" and suggested that Queen Letizia’s have a “gorgeous lifted tail” which helps to open up her eyes and make the eyeshadow more visible. 

She continued, "Her brows are subtle and fluffy yet defined which allows the eyeshadow to remain the star of the show and frame the face beautifully."

The Queen of Spain’s rosy eye makeup is a failsafe look for her and we can’t help hoping that she’ll wear her hair in a ponytail more often going forwards.

Leaning into the tweed, Letizia appeared to wear the Mango short tweed dress that matches the jacket perfectly, though she seems to have had the piece altered into a top. 

We've seen the royal in her essential summer trousers a few times this spring, but we love the change she's made for this appearance, opting for a pair of flowing, wide-legged pants that have a more relaxed look than her Mango suit trousers. 

The white trousers were a light and simple piece to add to the outfit, with their versatile wide-leg silhouette lending themselves to many different occasions and their soft, floating fabric working with, rather than against, the bold tweed top and jacket. 

Finishing the look, Letizia proved that style and comfort can go hand-in-hand as she relied on a pair of the best white trainers to round off the outfit. While she's usually a fan of stilettos, a recent foot injury means she's been relying more and more on flat shoes - though we're not complaining as her go-to flats have given us so much inspiration for our summer capsule wardrobes.

She’s also said to have Morton’s neuroma in her right foot.

Whether or not this is the reason for her favouring trainers so much now, Queen Letizia’s recent outfit was a masterclass in combining comfortable pieces together to create a polished and sophisticated look. The Spanish publication El Mundo reports that the health conscious shoe choices followed Letizia's diagnosis of chronic metatarsalgia, a pain in the ball of the foot, which she reportedly suffers from in both of her feet. They also report that she has Morton's neuroma, an ailment caused by a thickening of the tissue around one of the nerves leading to the toes, in her right foot.

The leopard print trend is going to be huge this season and it seems even the royals are on board - as Queen Letizia of Spain showed in spectacular style this month. She stepped out on 3rd April in Cadiz for the Gold Medals of Merit in Fine Arts wearing a fabulous bright pink dress from Lady Pipa. A midi dress is a must-have in many people’s spring capsule wardrobes and Queen Letizia’s candy pink dress had a stunning v-neckline and puffed sleeves finishing in a fitted cuff. This design was the perfect blend of being flatteringly fitted and also comfortably floaty, making it the perfect choice for both spring events and more day-to-day.

The bodice of Queen Letizia’s dress flared out into a beautifully draped skirt that had ruching down the centre. The ruching gave the skirt a gorgeous shape and echoed the billowing sleeves, whilst the colour palette and pattern was a fun combination.
