We're all struggling with styling for the mixed weather conditions right now, but Kate Garraway has made a strong case for revisiting a controversial jean choice. Sharing a post to Instagram, the TV Presenter looked cool and casual in a pair of flared jeans and a checked shirt, and her laidback look felt like the ideal combination for current climes.

Despite flared jeans provoking strong style reactions, the cut is definitely seeing a resurgence as part of the denim trends for 2026. With a vintage air, but a contemporary feel, the kicked out hem and fitted leg is ideal for those looking to balance out shoulders, fuller busts, or to narrow a waistline, as the wider hem helps to play with proportions.

The floor-grazing hem of her jeans shielded her shoes from view, but the star's high-waisted, mid-blue denim choice was ideal for cooler summer days. The style, which elongated Kate's leg, worked really well with her checked shirt, and the whole outfit had a little nod to Western silhouettes, delivering the ideal smart casual outfit for the months ahead.

Flared jeans might not have been a trend people saw coming, with denim trends for 2026 still favouring wide-leg and barrel silhouettes, but we’re seeing more and more celebrities and fashion icons step out in the statement style this year. From Trinny Woodall saying flared jeans are back, to Margot Robbie and Anne Hathaway both being spotted in kicky flares this season, it’s a trend worth investing in.

As an added bonus, when it comes to finding the best jeans for your body type, and the best jeans for women over 60 in particular, flares are one of the most universally flattering cuts you can opt for. Their distinctive and statement-making shape is more than just about wow-factor, it also creates balanced proportions by fitting snugly at the thigh and fanning out below the knee to elongate the leg and complement the natural curve of the hips.

When it comes to styling flared jeans, Kate shows that you can keep it super casual and style up any of the staple, everyday pieces in your summer capsule wardrobe to get an elevated but still laid-back style. A good tip to keep in mind is that, whatever top you choose, make sure it hugs or accentuates the curve of the hips and waist, just as her checked shirt does. It doesn’t have to be overly figure-hugging, just enough so that the shape can be mirrored by the dramatic flare of the jeans for a balanced overall look.

Kate Garraway is no stranger to getting stuck in and putting her hand to something - we’ve seen her tackle everything from The Celebrity Traitors to The Masked Singer.

And, as it turns out, the Good Morning Britain presenter is equally as involved and hands-on when it comes to her domestic life, recently sharing that nothing compares to “getting your hands dirty” and getting some work done in the garden.

It’s actually her affinity for getting out in the garden that led to a recent frog discovery, resulting in Kate seeking help from her online followers after an influx of frogspawn moved into her garden. We spoke exclusively to Kate about her new family of frogs (more on that later).

After speaking at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show, we now know it’s not just frogspawn that’s a feature of Kate’s garden. Perhaps controversially, she revealed that she’s rather fond of weeds.

“I’m a big fan of weeds, things looking slightly crazy, although you do need a bit of structure. But I love it.”

Author AA Milne famously said, ‘Weeds are flowers too, once you get to know them’, so perhaps Kate is championing a trend away from overly manicured gardens and accepting a touch more 'meadowscaping' and abundance.

In fact, there are wildlife-friendly weeds you should let grow in your garden, for several reasons. From dandelions - which are great for attracting birds - to thistles - which are great for pollinators, weeds might not make things look perfect, but they can bring plenty of benefits to your garden.

Maybe even inadvertently, Kate has stumbled into the topic of rewilding gardens, a rising garden trend that focuses on helping nature grow organically, and choosing function over a perfect look.

She's not the only one wading into the topic lately. Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, has come out in support of more wild spaces, questioning the efficacy of No Mow May.

Kate found it rather hilarious that we showed such an interest in her frog family "I feel terribly responsible," she jokes.

"I've seen a couple of little baby frogs, so I know we've gone from frogspawn to tadpoles. I'll do an update. I'll get some pictures." So watch this space for further news from our favourite 'frogfluencer' Kate.

To weed or not to weed, she spoke fondly of what gardening means to her, embracing the “magical” and “comforting” aspects. She told the Mirror, “I love gardening. My garden is shameful at the moment - I haven’t been out in it properly because I’ve been dealing with stuff from home.

“There’s something magical and comforting about planting things and watching them come up… There’s something about getting your hands dirty. I’m a Taurian earth sign, which means you like to get your hands dirty.”

At this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show, it’s not just the flowers that are in full bloom - Kate Garraway officially confirmed she’s in a blossoming new romance while attending the event.

It’s long been rumoured that Kate had struck up a connection with economist Liam Halligan, and the Good Morning Britain host was photographed cosying up to him before his charity bike ride recently.

But now she has spoken out about it for the first time, confirming that it’s been "lovely" striking up the new romance, and though they haven’t had time for a "proper date", she’s so excited she doesn’t want to "jinx it".

Kate told the Mirror, "It is lovely. We basically haven’t really had time for a proper date! I don’t want to jinx it! I don’t want to say anything because I will jinx it! I will jinx it."

She added, "We all love an Irishman, don’t we?"

Born and raised in London to an Irish family, Liam is an economic journalist who has written a column for The Telegraph since 2003, and he presents their Planet Normal podcast.

In the past few months, Liam was the only one of the pair to publicly hint at their rumoured romance, telling Talk TV, "I’ve known Kate for years and we’ve recently become close. We laugh a lot and really enjoy each other’s company."

For Kate, the new romance is a bright spot after a tough few years. It comes a little over two years after losing her husband, Derek Draper, following his Covid battle that left him with severe complications.

But, as Kate explained, she’s also dealing with the relatable stress of taking care of elderly and ill parents. She shared, “My mum and dad have not been very well so I’ve been really consumed by that. It’s been tricky and I’ve just been doing that this weekend.

“My dad was supposed to be with me actually [at Chelsea] but he’s not well enough. I’m very lucky to have both of them and I know it’s normal [part of ageing].”

When asked if she and Liam had plans to set up some "proper dates," she joked that Liam has been hoping for the same. “He says to me, 'Now we're in the papers, is there a chance we can actually have some dates?’”

Touchingly, Kate seemed to be flattered in the interest in her love life, saying, "It’s lovely. And it’s lovely to have you all caring!”

We've all had times where we really want to wear our best white trainers but also want the added elevation that only heels or wedges can provide. Well, it turns out that we don't have to choose between comfort and a little height boost after all.

Kate Garraway braved the rain on Day 1 of the Chelsea Flower Show in a gorgeous floral suit and the pièce de résistance were her hidden heel trainers. They were perfect for a long day walking around the show and they had the added benefit of helping keep Kate's immaculate trousers out of any puddles.

She revealed her shoes of choice to woman&home Editor-in-Chief Hannah Fernando, who spotted her "glitzy trainers". The Good Morning Britain host explained "they're very comfortable" and this is the "secret" to her appearing slightly taller than she is at 5ft2.

"I've got a hidden heel in my trainer," Kate revealed. "I don't think it's massively cool, but I feel it's a bit like a Spanx that sometimes you just need it."

She also offered an additional clever tip when you're wearing hidden heel trainers: style them with longer trousers. As Kate put it "if it's long, you see, you can't tell", and you certainly wouldn't have realised hers were anything other than sleek white plimsolls.

You could also style hidden heel trainers with a maxi skirt or dress, and both of these designs would also cover up most of the shoes and keep this design secret. Because the heel is hidden and not a stiletto or block design, you still get all the benefits of a flat shoe and the presenter thinks this is a must for the show, where there's so much to do and "loads of walking around".

As much as I love spring/summer shoe trends like flip-flop-esque sandals, they're just not as practical for a long day exploring. Although Kate remarked that wearing long, baggy trousers in the rain is "not necessarily" something she'd thought about, the extra height would've helped protect them too.

Her suit nodded to the Chelsea Flower Show with its grey-blue floral pattern and was by British clothing brand Karen Millen. The trousers were wide-leg and high-waisted, with pleated detailing adding extra volume and movement. Even without the matching blazer these would be gorgeous for a summer event, worn with a simple white camisole.

To make tailored trousers more casual, just add a plain white or black T-shirt and a denim jacket instead to balance out the structured fit. Kate Garraway wore the matching Karen Millen floral placement blazer to create a smarter feel for the show and then wore a deep blue high-neck knit underneath to tie in with the print.

Keeping to just two key colours with her outfit made it feel extra sophisticated and minimal. It's a trick the royals often use too and because the suit was primarily white, her trainers were even more discreet as they blended in with it. Although this colour palette wouldn't necessarily work for events like weddings, going for a soft pastel suit would also complement white shoes and ensure they didn't stand out too much.

If the new photos of Kate Garraway and economist Liam Halligan are any indication, the wheels are in motion for the couple’s rumoured romance.

As Liam was preparing for his charity bike ride from London to Paris, he has been keeping followers of his X account up to date. And on Friday, among the pictures he posted was one that stood out - one of himself, his cycling partner, and Kate, linked arm in arm.

Liam, who has previously spoke about a "spark" between he and Kate, is all smiles as he embraced Kate who was there to support a cause near and dear to him. The group posed in front of a backdrop for the Duchenne Dash, which raises money for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) - a condition Liam was diagnosed with as a child.

Social media users were quick to comment on Kate’s presence. One wrote, "Take Kate. It'll be a larf [sp] you'll both remember in your retirement years." Another replied, "Team Halligan is looking good. Is Kate following you on her trike?"

Kate has yet to comment on any speculation about the pair, though she did suggest in December 2025 that she’d be open to romance again, following the death of her husband, Derek Draper, in January 2024.

The presenter revealed on Jamie Laing’s Great Company podcast, "I wouldn’t like to think that I’d never have romantic love in my life again. I think that would be rather a sad way to go through life.”

Adding that she wasn’t "there yet", she did offer up how she would put herself out there when the time came, ruling out dating apps. She said, “I'm of the old school where you lived life, did things you loved and then met people along the way. But maybe that doesn't happen any more."

Kate and Derek met in 2004, set up on a blind date by one of Kate’s former GMTV colleagues. The pair would marry in 2005 and welcome two children together, Darcey and Billy. After contracting Covid-19 in 2020, Derek went on to suffer extreme complications, including damage to his major organs and contracting sepsis.

After a lengthy battle, Derek suffered a cardiac arrest in late 2024, before passing away in early 2024.

As for Liam, who has three children with his ex, journalist Lucy Ward, he has been a bit more vocal about there being a "spark" between the pair.

Appearing on Talk TV with Mark Dolan earlier in the year, Liam opened up about his close friendship with Kate, and how the pair "laugh a lot".

He said, "I’ve known Kate for years and we’ve recently become close. We laugh a lot and really enjoy each other’s company."

He added, "I’ve known her for a long time, I knew Derek, I was a political commentator, of course I knew him. In recent years for different reasons, we have both become single, against our wishes, so, in recent weeks and months, Kate and I have become good friends."

He continued, "It’s very early days. This may or may not turn into something long-term but there is a definite spark between us - and we’re both excited to see what happens."

Whoever we are, whatever our circumstances may be, everybody needs a little bit of love and support sometimes. And, sometimes, a kind word from a stranger can make all the difference.

No one understands this quite like Kate Garraway after the "challenges" she’s faced in the past few years.

The Good Morning Britain presenter glammed up for the 50th celebration of the King’s Trust where she spoke with woman&home and praised the work the charity has been doing for the last five decades.

Having "the right help and a little bit of love and support at the right time can make all the difference", Kate shared. And this can be as simple as having someone share a kind word when you need it most, and that someone is "sometimes a stranger saying it at the right moment".

It’s fair to say that Kate wasn’t just waxing lyrical. She knows first-hand what a difference a kind word can make after losing her husband, Derek Draper, in 2024 after a years’ long battle with Covid complications.

Kate shared, "Like everybody, I’ve had some challenges" while praising the work of the King’s Trust in giving people someone to talk to when they need it, especially now "we’re in a world where it feels like that can be in short supply".

The King's Trust was founded in 1976 by King Charles, at the time still the Prince of Wales, to help vulnerable young people. Its aim is to support 11-to-30-year-olds facing difficulties with school, the law, unemployment, disability, homelessness, and other issues.

Over 1.3 million young people have benefited from the work of the trust over the decades, and to celebrate its 50th anniversary, several famous faces and benefactors of the charity took part in an evening of inspiring music, comedy, and stories at the Royal Albert Hall.

Both personally and as part of ITV’s Good Morning Britain, Kate has long been involved in the work of the trust and championing the volunteers who are "the engine” of the charity, and without them, "the kind of magic" doesn't happen.

She praised the amazing work she's seen over the years as fostering "generations of goodwill".

Having an awareness of the importance of the work is why Kate added she was happy to get glammed up for the evening despite already having worked on both Good Morning Britain and her radio show.

She joked, "We've had a good spruce up for the because it's such a special night".

Still, she’s likely looking forward to getting into bed at the end of the evening. A bed, which, if she were queen for the day, someone else would’ve made.

When asked what she would do if she were made queen for the day, Kate’s answer was more relatable than regal - she replied, "Not having to make my own bed would be a joy. There's nothing nicer than getting into sheets you haven't changed."

One of the easiest ways to add a seasonal feel to your style is by switching up the colours you’re wearing. The sorbet shades trend is a perfect example of this and Kate Garraway showed just how beautiful lighter and brighter hues can be with her dress on Good Morning Britain on 17th April.

Her co-star Ranvir Singh shared a snap on Instagram of the pair ready to go and we got a great glimpse of Kate’s pastel Sosandar frock. It’s a colour I would describe as lemon sorbet as it’s softer than a citrus yellow but isn’t as neutral as butter yellow.

It’s knitted and has gold-toned buttons running down the front and a V-neckline. The elasticated ribbed finish adds some dimension and pieces with this detail are great if you want an item to fit snugly whilst still being comfortable to wear.

Kate wore this as a work outfit but the timeless silhouette and knitted design makes this a gorgeous option for more casual occasions too. She could easily pair it with white trainers and a denim jacket to dress it down and this is a simple styling tip for pastel yellow dresses more generally too.

This colour works particularly well with neutrals like white, cream and tan as they match the brightness and also bring some warmth, as lemon yellow is a cool toned shade. Denim goes with pretty much anything and blue washes add a lovely amount of contrast to a yellow outfit.

If you’re not sure about investing in a yellow frock then a top in a sorbet colour like Kate Garraway’s could be styled with jeans for an everyday look. However, there’s something so elegant about a pastel midi and they’re a good option as a wedding guest dress throughout the spring and summer.

For Good Morning Britain, Kate wore her Sosander frock with sunshine yellow court shoes. The two yellows didn’t match exactly but because they are in the same colour family this pairing felt cohesive and polished. If you like coordinating your accessories and your clothing like she does then go for it and if not, white, tan or gold shoes would work as alternatives.

Espadrille wedges add elevation whilst still being relatively casual and gold sandals would bring a touch of glamour. The more formal the yellow dress, the more I’d recommend sticking to smarter accessories to avoid there being a stark contrast in styles.

Chiffon, satin or silk frocks naturally feel more elevated than cotton, linen or knitted dresses, for example, so if you want to be able to get a lot of wear out of a piece in your daily life, this is worth considering. Kate Garraway’s dress is a style that’s easier to dress down and who knows if she’ll do that outside of GMB as she’s clearly a fan of yellow.

Just a few weeks previously she wore a yellow turtleneck and a matching cardigan with indigo jeans in an Instagram video announcing an unexpected garden discovery. Even though the items themselves were more wintery, it’s amazing how much this colour helped make them spring-like.

In December Kate Garraway, who was widowed in January 2024, confessed “I wouldn’t like to think that I’d never have romantic love in my life again. I think that would be rather a sad way to go through life.”

And while she said at the time, “I’m not there yet. I don’t know if anybody would want me,” it seems that a budding romance could be on the cards for the Good Morning Britain star for the first time since the death of her husband Derek Draper.

The presenter, 58, was reported to have grown close to Liam Halligan and he has since confirmed as much. So, who is he? According to his Instagram handle Liam is an “economist, journalist, author, broadcaster, musician, father”, in that order.

The friend continued, “Liam is very much Kate’s type on paper - charismatic, hugely confident, opinionated and gregarious,” before adding that in recent months they’ve “helped one another through their various turmoils and there is an undisputed chemistry between them.”

Christmas is a poignant time for many and can stir up a range of emotions, particularly in those grieving for loved ones. This is something Kate Garraway – who lost her husband Derek Draper in January 2024 after a four-year battle with complications of Covid-19 – knows all too well.

'Christmas is emotional for so many people for so many reasons,' the star, who is mum to Darcey, 19, and Billy, 16, admits.

Kate, 58, explains, 'You think about times gone by and how things have changed.’ And, while she says, 'I hope I won’t be blubbing all day,' Kate acknowledges 'there will be emotional moments'.

However, she is determined to make it 'fun and happy' for Darcey and Billy, who she recognises have had a 'tough few years'.

Here, the Good Morning Britain presenter reveals her plans for the festive season, how she navigates grief at this time of year and opens up about her family.

Remembering Derek

Traditions are what make Christmas magical, and Kate – who divided the country with her hilarious gameplay on The Celebrity Traitors earlier this year – plans to honour Derek by keeping their family’s festive rituals going.

'He would definitely want us to keep up with our usual traditions and have a good time,' she says.

Reflecting on Christmases past, the TV star shares, 'We have so many lovely Christmas memories to look back on and talk about,' Kate reminisces.

'We used to have a routine where we would get into the car on Christmas Eve and drive to Derek’s parents’ house in Chorley. We would dress up, Derek would put Christmas lights around the inside of the car and we would rate all the villages’ Christmas lights as we drove through them. It was such a fun thing to do.'

Elsewhere, the presenter reveals the family have 'traditional stockings' that they’ve used since Darcey and Billy were young.

'[They have] a mini chalkboard to write their names on. And, actually, Derek’s handwriting is still there,' Kate reveals, adding, 'There’s something lovely about it being written in chalk, although it’s quite jeopardous as it could get smudged. But it’s really sweet to keep it there.'

As for decking the halls at her London home, the bestselling author shares, '[It’s] full-on with decorations!'

She explains, 'All the primary schoolchildren – and some grown-ups too – pause outside [the house] on their way home. There are projectors, reindeer, inflatable Santas and penguins. It’s crazy! It’s not remotely tasteful, but it’s spectacular. So, we keep that tradition going.'

Changing plans

While Kate says, 'When I first met Derek, we would always go to his mum and dad for Christmas Day, and mine on Boxing Day,' she has different plans this festive season.

'I’ve volunteered to cook Christmas dinner this year,' she reveals, before quickly adding, 'I think the key message for anyone attending is going to be: it’ll be tasty, but let’s not have any time expectations on delivery. It might be quite flexible as to whether it’s lunch or dinner!'

Explaining what will be on the menu alongside turkey and all the trimmings, the presenter shares, 'Derek’s parents always said that you had to have a large portion of what they call 'creamy creams' for Christmas dinner, which is mashed potatoes.'

She continues, 'This is apparently essential, and the idea of not having it is a crime against Christmas.'

Kate is also relishing the fact that now Darcey is older, she’s keen to get involved in making the festivities happen. 'She’s making [the mashed potato] this year. So that’s lovely, and also it’s her becoming more involved in Christmas, in the way that you do when you grow up.'

Making new memories

Navigating grief during the festive period can be a challenge and Kate says she’s 'thinking about everybody else who’s feeling it really, at this time'.

Explaining how it can 'hit you', the star continues, 'I think you do feel grief [at Christmas] because that’s the point where you have the memories of previous years.'

She adds, 'When you feel something which is full of tradition, where you have memories, it comes back.'

But, determined not to let missing Derek consume the joy of Christmas, Kate concludes, 'You’ve got to try and let things evolve into new memories... I’ve said to the kids, 'Let’s do what feels right, do some new things and make new memories.’

With all the parties we attend and people we see over the festive season, there is bound to be an occasion where we accidentally turn up in the same outfit as someone else, and that’s exactly what happened at woman&home’s Christmas Live event this weekend.

Friends Kate Garraway and Jenni Falconer both stepped out in River Island’s navy pinstripe low waist trousers with the fashion-forward navy pinstripe cocoon sleeve blazer by River Island for the event and they not only both looked amazing, but they also styled out the fashion 'mishap' beautifully. “Great minds think alike!!! Clearly, we spend too much time together,” Jenni captioned her and Kate’s selfie on Instagram.

Their twinning moment goes to show just how on-trend pinstripe tailoring is this season, and the collarless, cocoon sleeve blazers that the duo wore were a particularly directional interpretation of the trend. Putting a fashion-forward spin on a classic power suit, Kate and Jenni's stylish suit is nearly sold out, though there are plenty of alternatives to be found.

As well as Jenni and Kate both wearing the same suit, they also styled them in very similar ways. Proving just how important accessories are in our autumn capsule wardrobes, both TV presenters added a thin waist belt to their suits as a way of adding a feminine feel to the androgynous pinstripe design. The slim waist belts helped to highlight their middles, creating a flattering hourglass silhouette.

It’s an addition that will work for any autumn outfit ideas where you want a little more definition around the waist. A thin belt acts as a subtle way to break up a block colour or pattern, too, creating a balanced top and bottom half of your outfit.

While Jenni opted for dainty jewellery to add a feminine touch to her boxy, jacket, Kate styled hers with a neck scarf. In a navy satin, this plays into a huge trend we’ve seen emerging over the past year, with neck scarves being one of the biggest accessory trends of 2025.

Not only are they super on trend, neck scarves are one of the simplest ways to update a top, dress or blazer with a simple neckline, and it's guaranteed to make your outfit look more expensive. One look, two striking ways to wear, great minds really do think alike.

Suede jackets are hugely popular right now and whilst I own one myself there’s one big disadvantage to this trend. Suede can be quite delicate and that’s exactly why I have several other jackets I rely on throughout the colder months, ranging from blazers to waterproof coats

Now I’m eyeing up another design to add to my collection after Kate Garraway wore a stunning corduroy blazer. The Good Morning Britain host shared a glimpse of a recent outfit on Instagram on 12th October and paired her jacket with leather trousers and borg-cuffed boots.

The entire ensemble showcased several of the biggest autumn/winter fashion trends, from the tonal brown colours to the soft textures. The blazer and boots made an eye-catching combination and both were tan.

Sadly, I haven’t been able to track down Kate’s exact jacket and footwear but there are plenty of options available online that bring a similar edge to an outfit. Her blazer was single breasted with a notched lapel and black trims above the discreet pockets.

The distinctive corduroy lines were very subtle and yet played a vital role in making the presenter’s head-to-toe brown outfit so chic. When you’re styling only a few colours together I’d advise incorporating a range of textures which will add dimension and help ensure that the different items don’t all blend into one.

Kate Garraway did this so successfully with her outfit for a lunch at the Pearly Cow as she wore a chunky chocolate-brown roll neck jumper with smooth leather or faux leather leggings. She tucked the trousers into her boots which coordinated with her jacket.

This accentuated the sense of cohesion that her outfit had already created and the top of these boots had snuggly borg cuffs. The colder months are when practical footwear really comes into its own and even if you’re never going to be someone who wears their best wellies to run errands, adding some warm and/or waterproof footwear to your collection is a good idea.

The Good Morning Britain presenter looked polished and cosy, not to mention very autumnal. Her boots and jacket are also versatile, as although she wore them with trousers and a jumper, she could easily incorporate them into different looks.

Kate’s blazer in particular could be layered over a neutral jumper dress or worn with blue jeans for a more casual everyday style.

Given the statement snuggly cuffs on the boots I think that these would work better with trousers than a frock or skirt, though they’d also jazz up leggings. The combination is a great alternative to a suede jacket and regular ankle boots and it’s something a little different to what we see Kate Garraway wear when she’s at work.

Like many of her fellow ITV stars, she regularly opts for vibrant outfits on Good Morning Britain and is especially fond of wearing red or blue.

It seems that when she’s not at work Kate still enjoys stepping out in smart-casual outfits, but is far more drawn to neutral tones like the rich brown shades that featured so prominently in her recent look.

When we think of autumn colours, burgundy, khaki, brown and berry instantly come to mind but that could be all about to change. Pastel tones are one of the biggest autumn/winter fashion colour trends for 2025. After all, why should we steer away from butter yellow and pistachio just because the season has shifted?

There are ways to take these more spring/summer hues and incorporate them into autumn outfit ideas and Kate Garraway’s recent high-street outfit is a perfect example of how to do this. As seen in a snap shared by her stylist Debbie Harper, she wore a blue River Island blouse tucked into ultra high-waisted white Karen Millen trousers.

Sadly, the top is sold out but I have managed to track down what appears to be the same style of trousers. The combination of the pastel blue and white was gorgeously soft and subtle and yet this look didn’t feel out of place for September.

This is brilliant news if you’re a fan of pastels and, as Caroline explains, the key to styling them in autumn is opting for warm neutrals. Tan, cream, chestnut and even chocolate brown or navy would all work with something like Kate Garraway’s blue blouse.

She could easily layer one of the season’s best suede jackets over the top for extra warmth, or alternatively a beige trench coat. In the Good Morning Britain studio Kate didn’t need this and that allowed us to get a better glimpse of the top’s design.

It was long-sleeved and high-necked (both great features for the colder months) and had a delicate keyhole cut-out and floral appliques. It’s not cold enough yet to wear jumpers everyday and so long-sleeved shirts can be such a simple staple for autumn styling.

You could even wear a jumper over the top which complements the pastel hue. Kate tucked her blouse into her very high-waisted cream trousers and tied the two items together by accessorising with a thin sky blue belt.

This is a clever way to make the pastel colour really feel like a part of your overall outfit. You can do a similar thing by carrying a pastel bag or even painting your nails a similar hue as an alternative to traditional "autumn" shades like cola nails.

These small things can give an ensemble a chic, cohesive feel and Kate finished off her outfit with subtle champagne pointed heels that almost matched her trousers. Wide-leg trousers and long shirts or blouses aren’t strictly springlike, so we can all enjoy mixing and matching pastel pieces like these into our September outfits alongside warm neutrals.

If sky blue isn’t your go-to pastel then remember to stick with pastels that work for you and your existing wardrobe. Sage green, lemon yellow, lilac and blossom-pink can all be brought into the new season too.

After weeks of sunshine autumn has made its presence known in a big way and Kate Garraway was more than prepared for the downpours on 3rd September. In a video shared on Instagram she arrived at the Smooth Radio studio in a navy polka dot raincoat complete with a practical hood, confirming in her caption that the season had finally landed.

Like many people I often pick other jackets over a waterproof for style reasons until the rain makes this impossible. However, Kate’s coat has got me scouring the internet for waterproof jacket recommendations that look fashionable as well as being functional.

If polka dots aren’t for you then I’d recommend investing in a plain raincoat for versatility and plenty of the best waterproof jackets out there have beautiful shapes and designs in wearable neutral tones. Vibrant pieces that scream ‘waterproof’ aren’t everyone’s cup of tea and so something like Kate’s coat is a more understated choice.

She doubled up on the rain protection with a matching navy blue umbrella and even stored her summery handbag in a plastic laundry bag to keep it safe too. Given how wet September has been I wouldn’t be surprised if this raincoat becomes one of Kate’s most-worn jackets in her wardrobe over the coming weeks too.

A lightweight option is perfect for autumn when temperatures can be mild one minute and chilly the next. Thicker styles are better for winter, but if you pick up a slightly more oversized raincoat in the first place there’ll be more room to layer chunky knitwear underneath too.

The flowing, feminine silhouette of Kate Garraway’s dress mellows the brightness of the red and the spot print also broke up the block colour. Having the touch of white alongside the red means that white, ivory or cream accessories would have worked perfectly here, though Kate went for red slingback heels as another colour-coordinated option.

I’d personally go for a denim jacket - either white or blue - if I wanted to make my polka dot frock more low-key and to dress it up, I’d swap this for a classic black blazer instead.

Both were equally fabulous and her trick couldn’t be simpler - turn the cardigan around.

This might sound like a recipe for fashion disaster but the Good Morning Britain host proved otherwise in photos taken by Claire-Louise Hardie, author of Clone Your Clothes and sewing expert. Kate’s cardigan was the Lottie design by Sugarhill Brighton x Juliet Sear.

Retro-inspired, with short puffed sleeves and a V-neckline, it’s got delicate red buttons running down the front. They are a fun contrast against the mustard yellow and off-white stripes and yet because they’re so tiny, they don’t feel too much.

One way of wearing this piece, as you might expect, is with the buttons running down the front. Because it’s a knit without large cut-outs or gapping around the fastenings, the Lottie cardigan works well as a knitted top without being overly revealing.

Kate wore her cardie this way in her second outfit and left it draped casually over the top of her go-to Phase Eight trousers. The exact ones look to be linen or cotton, but the brand currently has a very similar pair in wool that would be my pick for autumn or winter versions of this outfit.

The presenter has worn her wide-leg trousers so much these past few months, including with a bright pink Boden shirt and with a Phase Eight polka dot blouse. They’re a summer capsule wardrobe staple that she relies on to balance things when she wears vibrant hues.

The creamy white shade also tied in with her knitted cardigan and she also went for a colour-coordinated approach with her shoes, opting for bright yellow pointed-toe heels. The trousers and court shoes remained the same for both her ensembles, but Kate switched things up with her other look by turning her cardigan around.

Worn this way, the V-neckline would have acted as a sweeping scooped back without being too low as backless items can be very challenging to wear. From the front the cardigan then had a higher slashed neckline and this somehow ended up accentuating the gathers on the sleeves.

Like with her second way of styling the cardigan, Kate Garraway didn’t tuck it into her trousers. For some people the idea of wearing a cardie as a top at all might sound very out-there, let alone wearing it back-to-front.

However, she made both options look very elegant and embraced the versatility of her knitwear to the full. After all, why restrict yourself to wearing your favourite cardigan over T-shirts and shirts when it would work solo as a top in its own right?

The ensemble got Kate’s stylist Debbie Harper’s seal of approval as she posted it on Instagram too. With the heels I think the backwards way looks very chic and for day-to-day wear I’d personally replace them with white trainers to create a much more smart-casual outfit.

Yellow is one of those colours that many people either love or steer away from and I tend to do the latter. This isn’t because I don’t like yellow, but because I find it trickier to style than other colours like green and pink.

The more classic you go design-wise, the more flamboyant you can get with the shade as the style will help to balance it out and make sure it’s not overwhelming. Kate’s heels were a true, sunshine yellow and screamed summer to me.

Her choice of footwear was a clever way to add yellow into her ensemble without resorting to a full-on yellow outfit. Everywhere on the high street and online I’ve been seeing yellow dresses, cardigans and shirts, but shoes make up only a small part of your look.

This means that yellow doesn’t have to be the focus of an outfit, yet you can enjoy the joyfulness of this popular colour. If you pair yellow sandals or heels with a white dress or a neutral T-shirt and linen trousers, the shoes suddenly become a lot more understated.

Alternatively, you can use them to accessorise brighter outfits too, delivering a colour-clash effect. This is what Kate Garraway did, as her Hansine silk dress was magenta.

If you love pink, then this would be one of the best wedding guest dresses for you, thanks to its formal, sophisticated silhouette. The brand describes it as being an "ode to vintage elegance" and it has billowing sleeves and ruching at the neck and cuffs.

The colour makes a statement and although you might not have imagined it complementing citrus-yellow, it really did. Both colours were the same level of boldness, and this is a combination often seen with flowers which made it feel more harmonious.

Initially it might seem quite bold, but look closer at the intricacy of this print and you can really admire the beauty of it. Kate’s suit was by Joe Browns and although it also comes with a matching waistcoat too, she went for just the wide-leg trousers and a single-breasted blazer.

Suit items are great for smart-casual outfits and whilst tailoring brings the glamour, you can go for extra comfy footwear.

Starting out in supportive flat shoes also means you don’t have to carry a potential change of footwear with you to any big events like you might if you wear heels. Kate appeared totally at ease in her silver sneakers and floral suit - which she said blended in with the King’s Rose.

This was unveiled on Day 1 of the show and it took years for David Austin Roses to perfect it. Named in honour of King Charles, it was created in collaboration with The King's Foundation and Kate joked on Instagram that her similar floral suit was "intentional…obviously".

We’re not the only ones either and Kate Garraway wore an elegant floral shirt dress on Good Morning Britain on 20th February that was the epitome of everything we love about this pattern.

It was by Boden, which is one of the best British clothing brands when you want exquisite quality and a splash of colour. Sharing a glimpse of her outfit on Instagram, Kate referred to the Clara dress as a "blast of spring flowers on a grey February day".

We couldn’t have described it better ourselves and whilst Kate hilariously revealed that her colleague Richard Arnold likened it to his "nan’s curtains", she added that "love[s] it". This dress has a shirt dress shape that will never go out of style and is made from soft and breathable 100% cotton. The voluminous flared skirt has handy pockets and the balloon sleeves end in neat cuffs.

A tie waist belt gives it a bit of extra structure and shaping and although the Boden Clara dress comes in several different designs, Kate Garraway’s ‘Multi Flower Tile’ print is our favourite. It’s unapologetically floral and instead of having a delicate, illustrative pattern, the flowers are large and abstract in a variety of vivid colours.

Any spare space is filled by smaller flower motifs and they also run all the way down the waist belt and along the cuffs. The mix of tones brings dimension to the print and accentuates the joyfulness of Kate’s dress. As she said, this is sure to bring a sense of spring to a grey day, but it would be just as beautiful when the warmer weather finally returns too.

Floral dresses make a lovely change to our jeans and best cashmere jumpers and even bright ones like Kate’s can be easy to style. When you’re wearing something with such a statement pattern, you can either lean into it and coordinate your accessories to the print or take a neutral approach. The latter is simpler to do and a pair of tan boots or white trainers would work well with this Boden dress and help to make it more casual.

Pastel pink and utilitarian greens are huge spring/summer fashion trends for 2025, but for a more neutral option we’ve been drawn in by the Pantone Colour of the Year - Mocha Mousse. This calming soft brown tone isn’t just for interiors and Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway has embraced it with a Reiss dress that she’s been "loving". The broadcaster shared a sneak peak of her outfit on Instagram and asked for everyone’s opinions on "#mood moving #mocha mousse" and whether they were a "convert".

Her dress is the £188 Vinette ribbed belted dress by Reiss, which comes in both ‘regular’ and ‘petite’ versions and couldn’t be more timeless and elegant in its design. A knitted dress is a great alternative when you want the same cosiness as a jumper but are dressing up a little more.

This one has a high roll neckline and falls to midi length with subtle epaulettes on each shoulder and a belted waist. The streamlined shape is accentuated by the ribbed detailing that increases in size towards the hemline and gives it a very sleek, put-together feel. Split cuffs add a contemporary twist and although it also comes in a neutral beige colour, we’re not surprised that Kate Garraway was won over by the ‘mocha’ version.

Unlike the fashion colour trend colours that are set to be big this spring/summer, mocha mousse is totally neutral and this makes it not only easier to style, but also likely to be something the majority of people could enjoy wearing in some way. When they announced it as their Colour of the Year, Pantone described PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse as "appealing to our desire for comfort" and as a "warming rich brown hue".

The colour of Kate Garraway’s dress is also warm-toned and would work well for the chilly days to come in early spring, as well as in grey winter. A soft brown like this is a wonderful alternative to black and navy that lifts the colour palette of an outfit and can be complemented with either other neutrals or bright hues.

For Good Morning Britain Kate went for a smart pair of beige court shoes, but we think this knitted mocha-brown dress would be beautiful with brown knee high boots too. On a milder day, classic white trainers could also be paired with it for casual outings and we love how Kate Garraway mirrored the warmth of the mocha dress with her gold necklace and hoop earrings.

On the mild September day she wore a knitted cream cardigan which had a relaxed lapel collar, spacious side pockets and a gorgeous ribbed texture to it. From the glimpse we got of Kate’s outfit, the cardigan looked to be a longer length, perhaps reaching just below her waist.

Whilst cropped cardigans are incredibly flattering if you want to accentuate your waist when layering, nothing screams ‘cosy’ more than a longer length cardigan. The idea for Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story "all came from" the late Derek Draper himself and will follow him and Kate throughout the final year of his life.

On 5th January this year it was announced that ITV broadcaster Kate Garraway’s husband Derek Draper had died at the age of 56. The late author and political lobbyist was admitted to hospital in March 2020 after experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 and later tested positive for the virus. Derek returned home in April 2021 and continued to receive care as his health battle continued. In the years that followed, Kate often spoke out to share her, Derek and their children’s experiences and she filmed two poignant documentaries, Finding Derek, and Caring for Derek.

Now two months since he passed away, a third documentary entitled Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story is set to air. It will document the final year of Derek Draper’s life and highlight the challenges faced by those living with serious illness - as well as those faced by people that care for them.

Whether or not you’ve already seen Kate Garraway’s two other powerful documentaries then you might want to watch Derek’s Story, which will air on ITV1 and ITVX at 9pm on Tuesday, 26th March. Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story will also be available to watch after broadcast via ITVX. It’s been suggested that Derek Draper wanted to take part in the documentary as he “wanted to be heard” and Kate has also expressed how Derek’s Story was her husband’s idea.

According to RadioTimes.com, she explained, "Obviously, when we started making this documentary early last year, we had no idea the events that would unfold that ultimately took Derek from us. And in January 2024, I wondered if it was right that it should ever come to air."

"But I didn’t want to let those who have given us so much support over the last four years down, and the carers paid and unpaid who, in their thousands of letters to me, feel Derek’s story has given them a voice," Kate continued. "Also, I remembered so vividly that the idea of making this third documentary at all came from Derek himself. I hadn’t planned to make another one."

Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story will pick up with the couple in May 2023 and as per the Daily Mail, the ITV journalist described the process of working on it as "pretty emotional" during a discussion about it with her Good Morning Britain co-host Ed Balls.

"It's been pretty emotional actually. Makes you want to jump in the screen and give him a hug. You can't quite believe that he's not with us to watch his story. But, hopefully, it will be very useful for others who are going through the same thing. That's the dream and the wish," she declared.

ITV have shared that Derek’s Story will confront head on the reality of what Derek went through, as well as capturing "real moments of love and joy" as they enjoyed time as a family. The film will also highlight the “often prohibitive costs” as well as "practical difficulties" that often come with caring for people within their own home. It will feature contributions from care worker Jake who supported Derek’s care and from Kathryn Smith, CEO of Social Care Institute for Excellence.

Derek’s Story is also set to reflect upon what Derek Draper’s life was like before Covid, from his career to his relationship with Kate. The documentary will touch on the couple’s early years together, how the dynamic of their relationship was changed by Derek’s illness and how they maintained their close bond.

The first of these films to be released was Finding Derek which aired in 2021, just before Derek Draper returned home from hospital. In her speech at the time Kate described ITV’s decision to commission the documentary as "hugely brave" and mentioned how the director Lucy arrived at their home not knowing "if she was seeing a family in grief or relief".

Caring for Derek was released in 2022 and went on to win in the same NTA award category. Accepting the award alongside her daughter Darcey, Kate explained that Derek had been in hospital at that time and that they hoped he’d be home very soon

The broadcaster said, "I want to thank Derek for his incredible fighting spirit, I want to thank ITV for being so great to put something that is touched in all the incredible documentaries, we have a crisis of care in this country, we don't have a crisis of love."

Kate Garraway's fuchsia pink look at the Pride of Britain Awards was an exciting move from the presenter as she joined other celebrities on the red carpet.

On October 8, Kate Garraway was among the many celebrities who attended the Pride Of Britain Awards 2023 at Grosvenor House. The presenter looked fantastic as she wore a belted pink and purple look made from a shiny satin-style material. The blouse was low cut and highlighted her cleavage in a busty yet elegant way. The star likely wore one of the best bras for creating a supported and ample look. The bold shades were anything but subtle and picked up on some of the major autumn/winter fashion trends of 2023.

Kate's blouse was made from a bright pink shade of satin with blouson sleeves and tight cuffs that highlighted the elegant cut of the shirt.

Perfectly contrasting with her blouse, the purple skirt was high-waisted and cinched in the presenter's waist with a thick belt. The plum-coloured skirt billowed out in pleats and draped down to Kate's ankles, creating an elongated and lengthened look to the chic style.

Kate wore her layered hair in loose blow-out curls that framed her face and perfectly coordinated with her put-together style. She also wore a dark eyeshadow look that added an evening feel to her look, but she kept her lipstick toned down so as to not overpower her whole appearance.

She also wore a pair of plum-coloured suede boots that matched her skirt perfectly and added an autumnal feel to the ensemble.
