Although you couldn’t see it from the snap she shared on Instagram after her This Morning appearance, Clodagh’s Levi’s overalls had straight-cut legs. Whilst full-length dungarees or jeans aren’t what many people would want to wear in the heat, something looser like this works well in slightly cooler weather.

They didn’t exactly match her trench coat, but because they’re a similar colour palette the sandals went well with it. Had she needed a bag for this video, I would’ve expected her to have gone for a tan crossbody for practicality.

With her golden blonde hair swept back into a relaxed updo, Clodagh looked comfortable and put-together. This is an outfit that's easy to pass over in favour of bright colours and fun prints for summer, though it’s far more wearable day-to-day.

This turn-up detail made Alex Jones’s jeans quite contemporary, moving them beyond the 1980s and 90s associations that light-wash denim often has. I can't keep up with skinny jeans - one minute they're over, and the next, they're back. But a looser, straight-leg cut is a really easy way to elevate your outfits and make them feel fresh.

What's more, a slightly cropped length will show off your shoes in all their glory, whether that's a pair of on-trend leopard ballet flats or sophisticated leather ankle boots.

Spring weather is always a little unpredictable but this year it seems to be even more chaotic than usual. One day it's warm and sunny, the next it's cold and rainy again, and the effort to decide between a lighter denim jacket or my best trench coat is a very real struggle right now.

I have found choosing an outfit way trickier than usual, as anything too light and floaty will feel cold first thing, but too many layers will mean that I’m a sweaty mess by lunchtime. For me, jeans and a t-shirt has become my go-to, and it seems Reese Witherspoon has had the same idea as she recently shared some gorgeous snaps of her outfit that ticked all the spring/summer fashion trend boxes, and it's a wonderfully wearable look for between seasons too.

This light and airy take on denim can be styled exactly the same way as your heavier jeans, but will be a little more wearable for the hot and humid months of high summer. Buddy yours up with pastel tones like Jennifer or add some oomph with a bolder print or block colour.

If you are unsure about what shoes to wear with wide leg trousers, the key is to stick to heels if they are a longer length, as the extra height will avoid you looking swamped in fabric and help you look taller. The senior royal stepped out at The Yellow Labrador Club on 8th April wearing straight leg white jeans. They were high-waisted and full length, which worked so well with her suede Gianvito Rossi boots underneath.

The Duchess of Edinburgh’s jeans had a straight leg cut which strikes a lovely balance between the looser styles like wide and palazzo jeans and more tapered options. They work well as part of a smart-casual outfit and white jeans in particular are easy to elevate.

The paler colour and shape makes them look almost like tailored trousers and this means they can be paired effortlessly with heels and smarter shirts, as well as trainers and T-shirts as a day-to-day outfit. This is why white jeans are worth trying out, even if you’ve never been totally sure about them before.

Style them as if they were white trousers and you’ll find wearing them becomes a lot simpler. The King’s sister-in-law went for a classic beige blazer and Breton striped knit from Frame to complement the denim.

We often see blue and white striped tops and jumpers on the high street and online, but if you’re going to wear a pattern there’s no reason why you can’t try more neutral combinations. The beige and white were less of a contrast and this brought a softness to her ensemble.

These two colours also tied the rest of Duchess Sophie's outfit together, as each other piece was either white or beige. Her single-breasted blazer from Eleventy Milano was a formal addition and she went practical but chic with her suede boots.

As she was outside and interacting with some gorgeous Labradors during her visit to The Yellow Labrador Club, it made sense that she wore chunky-soled footwear. They rose to just under the hem of her jeans, creating a seamless silhouette.

This outfit just goes to show that white jeans and simple, neutral staples are a brilliant match. Although it most likely wasn’t intentional, the Duchess of Edinburgh’s look also coordinated with the dogs she got to meet that day.

She made this visit as she was announced as the new Royal Patron of the club - a role once held by the late Queen Elizabeth. I’ve always had a soft spot for flared jeans. There’s something about the retro-inspired silhouette that makes any outfit feel instantly cooler. But while I love the look, the reality is usually less enjoyable – rigid fabrics, uncomfortable buttons, and that tight squeeze usually make you want to take them off before the day has even begun.

So when I first tried on the Bowie Stretch Flare Jeans in Black from Saint + Sofia, I wasn’t expecting them to be the exception. But they are. And now I’m wondering how I managed without them. And although I did size up after reading some reviews, these beauties have become some of my most comfortable jeans, making them one of my capsule wardrobe essentials. They also come in a wide range of sizes from a UK 6 to a 22. Although, because of the size advice in the reviews and from my own experience, I would say they would fit up to a UK size 20.

I opted for the washed black colourway, which, as opposed to the 'jet black' shade, offers a more muted, vintage edge that can be easily styled with a variety of colours. The flared bottoms are the perfect shape. Jutting out at the knee and finishing neatly below the ankle (I'm 5'5), they elongate your legs without being over the top. Plus, they look great with wedges, heels and chunky platform trainers.

The standout feature of these jeans is the stretch material for me, I haven't once felt too restricted in them. They truly offer a unique blend of style and comfort, and it’s completely changed how I think about denim in general.

I’ve been styling mine with comfortable t-shirts, lightweight knitwear and my best white trainers for a refined daytime look, but they work just as well for evenings out. Simply add a blazer or a smart ruffled blouse and some open-toe wedges, and you’ve got an effortless date night outfit that's sophisticated yet extremely easy to put together in a hurry.

And although I'm partial to a barrel leg jean style these days, you simply can't go wrong with flared jeans. With jean styles coming in and out of fashion, I will always resort to flares. Mainly because I find that they help to balance my proportions as someone who is 'top-heavy'. When considering the best jeans for your body type, it's good to consider how the shape will enhance or flatter your shape and how they make you feel when you look in the mirror too.

For me, I look for jeans that add volume to my bottom half, which balances out my broader shoulders. So the best wide leg jeans, loose barrel leg styles and ultimately flares are always my top choice when shopping for denim staples.

I've worn them for the last couple of weeks and washed them twice and they're still going strong. I can't wait to wear them through spring and summer with lightweight layers, and well into the colder seasons too.

Elasticated waistbands are nothing new, but to find them on a pair of jeans is rare - especially ones that look so much like traditional jeans and not just another pair of comfortable lounge trousers.

The blue denim-like fabric has a washed-out and faded effect that brings tonnes of dimension and texture to the style, with the pockets (that are actually real!) adding to the practicality.

They're high-waisted with a sweet denim tie detail, while the elastic band is thick enough to make you feel confident and secure in the loose-fitting pair.

"Jeans with a drawstring waist? Genius. Especially when the sun starts to shine, clingy, rigid denim is the furthest thing from my mind, so these are an easy breezy way to do denim through spring and into summer," says woman&home's digital fashion editor Caroline Parr.

She adds, "The wide leg shape is super flattering - keep styling simple with a white T-shirt and tan sandals for a minimalist feel."

I don't blame you if you're finding the amount of bargains available in the Amazon Prime Day sale right now overwhelming. Where do you start? Of course, snap up those household essentials you buy on repeat, but if you're looking for a fashion recommendation, I've got you covered.

When the weather can't seem to decide what it's doing each day, denim is the thing you know you can always rely on. As a fashion editor, it's fair to say I have quite the collection, ranging from the Zara Marine jeans I bought in three colours to my classic Levi's Ribcage jeans and the Mint Velvet leopard print jeans that are, quite simply, perfect.

I've scoured the best jeans on Amazon by well-known brands like Levi's and Wrangler, but vintage-inspired brand Belle Poque might be new to you.

These stretchy high-waisted jeans are very well-reviewed on Amazon, and this is a style that was recommended to me several times before I finally followed their advice. So when they were reduced from £42.99 to just £29.99 in the Amazon Spring sale, I couldn't resist trying them for myself. And now they're even more reduced for Prime Day...

The first thing that struck me when I tried these on was just how incredibly comfortable they are. It's no exaggeration to call them the comfiest jeans I've ever worn. The stretchy fabric is super soft and feels particularly nice and light to wear, even on a hot summer's day.

One of the reasons this shape works well for me is that I often struggle to find jeans that fit on the waist and my hips. These genius jeans feature an elasticated section at the back. It offers the ideal amount of stretch, but it's hidden at the back, so you really can't see that you're wearing jeans with an elasticated waist.

Mine are the dark blue wash, which I've styled with some classic Breton stripes and leopard print shoes. The striking gold stitching and button front feel much more elevated than a zip, and the pockets are a really chic detail. They have a distinctly nautical feel, and the high waist is incredibly flattering. I also love how they're styled on Amazon - turned up at the hem, and teamed with a pair of the best white trainers.

They have a soft flare to them, and the length is just right on me to wear them with everything from ballet flats to winter boots.

They have 2% elastane in the fabric, which I tend to find is the sweet spot to finding the most comfortable jeans. The lighter fabric (when compared to rigid denim) is a real plus in the summer months, too.

But back to the Belle Poque jeans. I've yet to wash mine, but one Amazon customer says they last well too: "Brilliant quality, wash and dry really well. Bought more", while another wrote "These fit perfectly! The higher waist with buttons makes these jeans look a bit dressier--more elegant and sophisticated so that I can get away with wearing them to work!"

I'd never have guessed they were from Amazon, and I can finally see what all the fuss is about!

Carole Middleton’s high-waisted jeans and satin shirt were a sophisticated combination that’s still right on trend for 2025.

We all love jeans for their comfort factor and more relaxed feel but you don’t have to cast your favourite pairs aside when you want a more sophisticated look. Tailored trousers are great but jeans can be dressed up easily and Carole Middleton is the expert at creating smart-casual outfits with them. Her high-waisted deep blue jeans that she wore in a picture for her former business, Party Pieces, back in 2021 are a gorgeous example of this - and they’re right on trend for 2025 too! Denim trends come and go but for 2025 darker washes are officially back.

This is great news for those of us who love indigo or midnight blue washes and Carole tends to favour darker shades too. They naturally feel more formal and her jeans from 2021 were deep blue, with statement buttons on the front. We couldn’t see much of them in the picture taken by photographer Liz Mcauley but they made a real impact.

The buttons looked to be tortoiseshell and had a shiny finish which was a lovely contrast against the blue denim. The dark blue shade of Carole’s jeans is one of those spring/summer fashion trends for 2025 we can get behind as it’s easy to dress up with tailored jackets and heels and doesn’t seem as casual as light-wash denim.

The Princess of Wales’s mother has a generally smart-casual style and her jeans would give a polished edge to an off-duty outfit too. We couldn’t see the shape of the bottom of this pair, but from the waistband it looks as though they might have been wide-leg or straight-leg jeans. These are quite different to her beloved skinny jeans but Carole has stepped out in looser styles in recent years, showing that she’s not unwaveringly loyal to this streamlined shape.

The buttons on her jeans were arranged in a neat square formation and were very distinctive and vintage-esque. We’d always recommend going for a high-rise cut like Carole’s jeans if you want to accentuate your waist. High-waisted jeans are also great when you want to tuck in your tops to create a streamlined silhouette.

She wore her jeans with a satin shirt in the Party Pieces picture. It had a feminine pussybow neckline, flowing sleeves and delicate pleats at the front giving it extra structure. The soft champagne colour was complemented by the sheen of the fabric and we can imagine Carole wearing this as part of different date night outfits.

Satin always feels quite glamorous and it continues to be very popular in 2025, with everything from satin skirts to slip dresses and nightwear making an appearance on the high street. Paired with denim and you’re on to a winning outfit formula - as Carole Middleton showed in 2021. She accessorised with subtle pearl drop earrings and we would have worn suede ankle boots or ballet flats to complete this ensemble.

That's what the spring means for Alex Jones, who has long been a fan of second-hand shopping and finding vintage gems. She was up early this weekend to attend the Sunbury Antiques Market at Kempton Park Racecourse and if you're planning on doing the same, you're going to want to recreate her stunningly classic outfit that's ideal for keeping you warm and comfortable while also looking oh-so stylish.

Alex perfectly blended style with practicality for the overcast day, pairing the Cotton Traders Wide-Leg Jeans from her collaboration with the brand with a simple black top, whose high-sitting crew neckline and long sleeves offered some much-needed warmth.

The light wash denim of her jeans brought in a lovely pop of light, bright colour without being too bold or summery thanks to the heavy texture of the denim. Switching out your darker denims for a lighter wash like this in the spring is a great way to start transitioning your wardrobe into the warmer months, but Alex proves that you don't have to ditch dark tones completely in order to feel spring-ready. She layered up in a, sadly now discontinued, khaki double breasted coat from Zara, with the rich green shade feeling decidedly spring-like. Khaki is a great way to incorporate a floral-adjacent colour at the beginning of the season and on a sophisticated coat like this, the shade oozes elegance and quiet luxury.

To finish off her look, Alex slipped into a pair of tanned brown boots. The colour is stunning, rich and warm and brings in a much softer, spring-like feel to the look than a pair of harsher black leather boots would have. But still, they have a sophisticated and classic flair thanks to their sleek silhouette, comfortable block heel and pointed toe, with the brown leather complimenting the light wash denim beautifully.

But not only did Alex give us the ultimate antique fair outfit inspiration, she also shared her top tips for shopping at these fairs too. Like she says in the video, it's easy to get carried away with collecting bargins at these kind of events, like when she brought 12 church pews without thinking about it and has ended up keeping them in storage because she has nowhere to put them, so some tips will certainly be handy.

Picking up a vintage tennis racket, she says, "Not essential," though she admits they would look good hanging on a wall. This is a good thing to keep in mind so you don't get carried away. What do you actually need in your home and what interior design trends will compliment what you already own? If you don't need it or have somewhere it can work, what you want to buy isn't an essential - so maybe put it back.

Another trick is to stick to your shopping list. Alex was at the fair looking for a chest of drawers and a table for her hallway, so keeping these in mind helped her avoid impulse purchases that she'd end up not having room for.

And that leads onto her third tip; measure! Bring a tape measure along with you and make sure you've also measured the space you're trying to fill in your home before heading out too. Trust us, your eyeball measurements will never be right!

Cat Deeley's approach to wearing streamlined skinny jeans prove exactly why they'll never truly go out of style.

Denim trends come and go but there are some key designs we’ll always have in our spring capsule wardrobe and skinny jeans are one of them. Looser, more relaxed jeans are having a resurgence right now but skinny jeans have earned their place as a classic and Cat Deeley’s way of styling them shows why they’ll never really go out of style. The This Morning host recently shared a video of herself in a barn wearing a pair of skinny jeans tucked into black boots with a striking blue zebra print blazer.

She looked very city-chic despite the countryside setting and the jeans were sleek and a mid-blue tone. Indigo and black jeans often feel a bit smarter, whilst light washes are more off-duty, but something in between like Cat’s jeans is perhaps the most versatile option.

This shade of blue strikes a wonderful balance between formality and casualness and can be dressed up or down effortlessly to suit different occasions. Cat Deeley’s jeans looked to be high-rise, with her black roll neck jumper left loose and draped over the waistband. Although everyone has their own preferences when it comes to jeans, we prefer a high-waisted fit like this for skinny jeans as it accentuates their leg-elongating effect.

Cat leaned into this even more by tucking the hems of her skinny jeans into her black ankle boots, creating a seamless silhouette. In the summer we enjoy wearing jeans with our best white trainers but something like these boots which come a little higher up the leg is so gorgeous and perfect for a more elevated edge.

The presenter’s shoes had a zip up the front as a contemporary twist on classic plain black boots, and a chunky sole. She accessorised with a simple black crossbody bag that tied in with her boots and jumper and added a subtle splash of colour with her blazer. This was quite an eye-catching piece thanks to its zebra stripe pattern running horizontally all over.

The blend of black, slate blue and grey was a contrast against the rest of her outfit but was muted enough not to be overpowering. Tailored blazers or coats work well with the shape of skinny jeans, especially long-line ones and Cat’s fell to just below her waist. This was a simple outfit but one that’s so easy to recreate using our own wardrobe staples and Cat Deeley highlighted why skinny jeans are one of those styles that feel timeless.

She’s been a fan of this style for a long time and always tends to wear skinny jeans like this - tucked into boots and with a longer length jacket or coat. It’s not clear where she was when she filmed her recent video in front of the haybales, as Cat’s cryptic caption declared only "Sometimes… context isn’t always needed". However, she was incredibly chic and we would happily wear an outfit like this to plenty of different occasions.

Clodagh McKenna just wore fabulous ME+EM corduroy trousers and they’ve got us eager to invest in comfy jeans alternatives.

It doesn’t come much easier to wear than a pair of comfortable jeans, but Clodagh McKenna has reminded us that there are some alternatives out there that are equally versatile and a little more elevated. On those occasions when we want to feel put-together something like Clodagh’s ME+EM wide-leg cords would be perfect. The chef wore these navy blue trousers for a recent appearance on ITV’s This Morning and this isn’t the first time we’ve seen her champion the best British clothing brands with her choice of outfits.

She particularly loves wearing ME+EM pieces and we’re not surprised that the corduroy trousers from this look are virtually sold out. They’ve been reduced to £157.50 in the sale with only one size left, but if you love Clodagh’s cords then they also come in a beautiful burnt orange-brown.

They’re made from luxurious Italian cotton corduroy and have a soft feel and an elegant drape to them. When you’re looking for comfy options the fabric can make all the difference, but the silhouette is equally as important. Clodagh McKenna’s cords have a wide-leg silhouette which we find particularly lovely to wear as the relaxed shape means they’re not tight over your legs or hips like some styles of jeans can be.

Crisp, wide-leg tailored trousers can sometimes feel quite smart, but the beauty of corduroy is that the fabulous slight sheen and relaxed texture makes them easy to dress up or down. The chef could easily have worn her cords with her best white trainers, a white T-shirt and a denim jacket to make it more casual, or styled them with heels and a silky shirt and blazer.

On This Morning Clodagh went for somewhere in between these two approaches and wore her ME+EM cords with a navy blue short sleeved jumper from Bamford and burgundy New Look boots with square toes. The voluminous trousers worked well with a more fitted knit and the coordination of the top and cords made this outfit even more cohesive.

The pop of burgundy with the boots was a fun contrast and the chef tied her blonde tresses back into a messy ponytail with white and navy patterned scarf. She might have worn this outfit to work but it’s given us plenty of inspiration when it comes to styling cords as a key part of our spring capsule wardrobe this year.

They just feel a bit more elevated compared to jeans but without compromising on comfort and the versatility of them makes them worth investing in. Clodagh’s choice of navy blue cords is also reminiscent of indigo denim and can be worn in the same way you’d usually wear jeans. She also owns cords in red and brown, both with similar silhouettes.

If navy just isn’t for you then we’d recommend going for corduroy trousers in a more neutral shade like brown or beige for spring/summer, or else a colour that you know works well with your existing go-to tops.

I’m always on the lookout for new denim styles, and the Albaray Pin Tuck Denim Jeans are a pair so good I immediately made space for them in my current collection.

With a shape that sits somewhere between a barrel leg and a wide leg, these jeans (from one of the best British brands—Albaray) strike the perfect balance of feeling laid-back but also smart. A slight warning, however, they run tiny, so I had to size up, but they’re definitely worth it.

What set these jeans apart from other styles for me is the pin tuck detail running down the front, a subtle element that makes all the difference, adding a tailored feel that elevates them beyond your usual denim styles, and the fact that they are made from a sustainably conscious brand too.

Arguably the most polarising fashion item of all time, the mere mention of skinny jeans sparks debate. A bold statement, I know, but skinny jeans will always have a place in my wardrobe.

I first wore skinny jeans 20 years ago in the mid 2000s, when I finally gave in to the trend that took over the bell bottoms I lived in through the 90s and was devastated to watch fall out of favour. My short legs and wide hips loved the balance and flattering silhouette flared jeans offered – they are undoubtedly the best jeans for my body type. And the new drain pipe, tight-fitting style was one that, frankly, terrified me.

I remember asking my friend if I could 'get away with wearing them'. Much wiser and more confident than I was back then, what she said really stuck with me - anyone can wear anything, it's just about finding a way to style clothes that works for you. And by that she meant wearing them in a way that made me feel confident, rather than following trends.

It took a while to find my comfort zone with the controversial denim, and while I am personally very happy jean trends have swung in favour of much more loose, relaxed styles in recent years, I have two pairs of skinny jeans that will always remain. Why? Because whether they are 'in' or not, I have two ageless outfits I love, both of which fill me confidence as soon as I put them on, and and skinny jeans are the only denim they work with.

Thankfully, skinnies have come on a fair bit in the last two decades, and there are lots more soft, stretchy options now, rather than just the very rigid, restrictive offerings of the past. I wear M&S's Lily Slim Fit jeans, only £25 per pair, they come in a range of colours, fit beautifully and are comfortable enough for all-day wear without feeling restricted in any way.

Skinny jeans are the best way to show off footwear, and they are also a fantastic way to play around with proportion. This outfit makes me feel so put together, without trying too hard. It's so simple, combining wardrobe staples to create a versatile, timeless looks that works for any occasion.

The real star of the show here is my tan suede Western-style boots, which I love being able to show off with this outfit. I could, of course, do the same with leggings, but they wouldn't give me the support I like or the option to add a belt. I feel like I mean business in this outfit, and skinny jeans are a supporting but vital component.

The second outfit is much more relaxed, and one I've lived in recently for everything from work to weekend coffee dates with friends. Here my skinny jeans support a statement jumper or sweatshirt and my oversized long wool coat, which I wouldn't be without in the colder months.

I have quite short legs, and so often struggle to find skinny jeans the right length to wear with trainers and so end up turning them up. I actually prefer having the bottoms turned up, it adds a tiny bit of volume to balance the smallest part of my leg with the widest, plus it means I really get to show off my beloved adidas Sambas. This outfit makes me feel put together, again, without trying to hard, it's a really simple way for me to feel a little bit cool and confident while be warm and very comfortable.

Emilia Fox’s turn up jeans are a gorgeous contemporary denim style that isn't overly trend-lead.

The start of the new series of Silent Witness earlier this month has not only got us excited for Monday and Tuesday evenings again this January but has reminded us how much we admire Emilia Fox’s elegant style. The actor always looks so put-together as Dr Nikki Alexander but outside of the show her outfits are every bit as stunning - and they’re easy to recreate too! Jeans and a nice top is a staple combination when you don’t know what to wear and back in July 2020 Emilia put her own contemporary twist on it with a pair of turn up jeans by Wyse London.

Wyse London is one of the best British clothing brands when it comes to beautifully made, chic designs and these mid-blue jeans were borrowed by Emilia - along with a starry long sleeved top - for filming Channel 4’s Gogglebox. They had a high-rise fit that’s ideal if you want to accentuate your waist and a straight leg silhouette.

Everyone has certain requirements when it comes to denim and once you’ve found the best jeans for your body type it’s hard to look elsewhere but straight leg jeans are well worth trying if you haven’t already. They are more streamlined but still have plenty of room in the leg, making them a brilliant, comfy alternative to fitted skinny jeans. You can easily elevate them with boots and heels but they look equally chic with flats and sandals and a T-shirt too.

Even if you’re not convinced by this particular design, the turn up detailing on Emilia’s jeans was a modern twist that we can all take a little bit of inspiration from without buying "trend" jeans. They were little turn ups, with a raw hem and yellow piping on the seam running up the sides. It’s a small thing but it transformed a pair of classic blue jeans into something a little more contemporary and fashion-forward.

So often the trendiest denim styles can feel a bit much, but turn up jeans are more subtle and you can choose a shape that works best for you. As woman&home’s Digital Fashion Editor Caroline Parr explains, you can also recreate this with your existing jeans too!

"If barrel leg and low rise are two denim trends you find intimidating for 2025, then turn up hem jeans is something you can definitely get on board with and easily recreate with a pair of jeans you already have at home! You'll show off your shoes in all their glory, and that extra little detail will really elevate your look," she says.

If you don’t want to invest in a pair of specifically-designed turn up jeans like Emilia Fox’s from 2020, then you can achieve a similar look by rolling up the hems of a longer pair you already own.

As Caroline revealed, turn up jeans are great for showcasing your footwear and what better way to add some contrast and brightness into an outfit than with some bright shoes? The Silent Witness star styled her blue turn up jeans with sunshine yellow court shoe heels. They had pointed toes, stiletto heels and tied in with the yellow on the seams. Blue denim looks gorgeous with vibrant colours like yellow, red, orange and green and Emilia’s predominantly white long sleeved T-shirt helped to balance the boldness.

This made for a stylish and comfortable everyday outfit and with a jumper and boots it is perfect for winter too.

Jeans aren't the first thing you expect to see on the red carpet, but Cameron Diaz just bucked the trend, turning up in a wide leg pair for a special screening of her Netflix film Back In Action.

There's a special section carved out in every winter capsule wardrobe for sequins and sultry gowns, though the fun party wear doesn't see as much action as the flattering coats and thermal layers we gravitate towards during the cooler months. But those casual pieces we wear every day might have more potential than we first think - just look at Cameron Diaz in two casual winter staples on the red carpet.

Stepping out in Berlin to attend a special screening of her action/comedy Back In Action, Cameron stunned in a pair of wide leg jeans and a floor-skimming tailored coat, proving that both the casual pieces can work for even the most formal of events - especially when the weather is making you second guess going out at all.

Have jeans just won their rightful place on the red carpet? We think so - and we'd be surprised if we don't see more celebrities stepping out in them as they mark new releases.

Cameron opted for a pair of super on-trend wide leg jeans for this appearance, with their baggy silhouette working surprisingly well for such a formal occasion. Their super high-rise waist created a stunning silhouette, with the dramatic style pooling around the ankle for a flattering, leg-elongating effect - we can't believe we've not seen more celebs pulling out their comfortable jeans for red carpets when it can look this good.

The ultra-relaxed leg is offset by Cameron's choice of top, with the mesh turtleneck blouse being tucked into the waist of her jeans to add some definition around the waistline and balance out the bagginess of the leg silhouette.

The mesh top also brings in a lovely texture that compliments the washed denim tone beautifully and adds a more dressed-up feel to the outfit. The tailored maxi coat works the same way, with heavily structured shoulders, crisp lapels and a cascading train working to add that more formal flair to the look.

A pair of shining patent flats, which look like loafers though it's hard to get a good look as the jeans cascade over them, finish off the monochrome outfit - though Cameron added some fun pops of colour through her manicure and striking red lip.

Alongside the laid-back updo with wispy face-framing strands falling out the pulled back style, Cameron's red lipstick added a striking element to the outfit and popped against the all-black look. It's a great styling tip that can bring together any formal outfit in just one simple step - Especially if you feel like your look is missing that special something but can't quite put your finger on what it is, you can't go wrong with some red lippy.

And we adore how she tied in the red shade with her manicure too - that cherry red is so striking! Embracing the short squoval nails that we're starting to see everywhere this season, Cameron's choice of a bright, bold red really cements why the shade is one of our go-tos when it comes to our winter nails. It's timeless, classic, and paired with an elevated casual outfit like this red carpet look, it really pops.

Anita Rani has reminded us why jeans and a striped shirt will always be a staple outfit base as she put together a breezy casual look on holiday.

What do we always end up coming back to if we don’t know what to wear? Jeans and a nice top or, in the case of winter, jeans and our best cashmere jumpers. The combination of denim with an easy-to-wear shirt or knit is timeless and has a relaxed but chic feel to it and can be dressed up or down. It might sound like a simple outfit - and it is - but this is what makes it so elegant and also very easy to recreate. Many of us will already have a striped shirt or wide leg jeans in your winter capsule wardrobe and if you don’t, there are so many options available right now that will give you a similar look. Anita’s jeans were a light blue wash which always has a bit more of a casual feel compared to dark indigo and black jeans.

This complemented the relaxed silhouette and opting for a paler shade of blue with your jeans is a lovely way to add a bit more contrast into an outfit if you style them with a darker jumper or top. The broadcasting star took a different approach and threw on an oversized blue and white striped shirt with her jeans, which she left untucked over the waistband.

She rolled the sleeves up to her elbows too and although this was probably more of a practical decision to help keep her cool in the hot weather it also accentuated the effortlessness of her outfit. The stripes were delicate and the blue was similar to the tone of her jeans. This tied the two pieces together even more and a striped shirt and jeans is a failsafe look for the daytime whilst on holiday when you’re not by a pool or at the beach.

It also works for spring and summer in the UK, but just because Anita Rani wore her wide leg jeans and shirt in warm weather doesn’t mean it can’t be worn in the winter. If you want to style these staples right now then all you need is to embrace layering with your best winter accessories and knitwear. Add a knitted vest, jumper or cardigan over the top of a classic cotton shirt or wear a thermal top underneath for extra cosiness.

Instead of ballet flats or sandals, we’d recommend going for a pair of simple ankle boots that will fit seamlessly under your wide leg jeans. In India Anita wore footbed sandals that looked like they could potentially have been the iconic Arizona style by Birkenstock. They had two straps, buckles and were a soft beige colour that looked great with the light colour palette of her clothes.

She also owns a similar sandals in a green colour that she wore elsewhere on her trip with a pink and white striped shirt dress. It just shows how stripes and shirts are a key part of her holiday wardrobe.

For me, a suede blazer is the ultimate luxe addition to any outerwear collection, and Demi Moore's full-Gucci outfit proves just this. Wearing an embossed suede blazer, wide leg jeans, a bow-neck blouse, and matching suede ballet flats, Moore offers the chicest take on this enduring trend.

After all the glitz and glamour of the festive season and New Year celebrations, it feels like time to get back into our comfortable, casual staples again. The jumper is a great practical choice too. With the striped pattern working to add interest as well as a pop of bright colour, the long sleeves are an extra layer with which to combat the chill and the high-sitting crew neck and longline hem ensure you're fully protected from the elements.

But while the jumper's colour scheme went against many of the shades we tend to wear at this time of year, the rest of Katie's look readily embraced winter shades.

First off, the deep and rich indigo denim of her wide leg jeans played into a darker tone, with their slouchy fit lending a super casual flair to the elevated off-duty style.

Then there's the burnt-orange of her stunning suede jacket which is a lovely alternative for the burgundy tones that we've been seeing everywhere this autumn/winter season. The suede highlights the colour even more, with the soft-touch fabric catching the light while the structured, crisply tailored silhouette juxtaposes the relaxed fit of the jeans beautifully.

Finishing off the comfortable and casual outfit, that we're definitely going to be recreating on our own morning coffee runs this winter, Katie slipped into a pair of oh-so stylish white trainers to tie in the white stripes of her jumper. A pair of brown winter boots whose colour boasts an orange undertone would've worked equally well with the outfit and complimented the jacket beautifully, but who doesn't love a comfortable sneaker?

The earthy shades continued into her accessories, with a grey knitted beanie and pair of brown-framed sunglasses finishing off the outfit and leaning into the casual feel. With the blend of winter-ready tones and bright, bold shades, this stunning off-duty look proves exactly why Katie Holmes is one of our go-tos for casual outfit inspiration and we can't wait to recreate it.
