Chocolate brown and pale blue is one I've personally been enjoying lately, but television presenter Helen Skelton has just thrown a new duo into the mix. She shared some behind-the-scenes videos of her outfits to host BBC's Morning Live, and her sorbet blue and bubblegum pink particularly caught my attention. Bravo to her stylist, Alexandra Young!

Playing into the palette, rather than overwhelming it by adding any more contrasting tones, she slipped into a pair of pink pumps to finish off the outfit, and their slightly darker shade of pink and suede-look complemented her trousers and created a tonal feel.

The sun might be out, but I'm still not trusting April’s unpredictable weather. The month is known for its rainfall, but after spotting Helen Skelton in a chic showerproof Barbour jacket, I'm not sure I'll be that disappointed in some drizzlly weather.

Celebrating Easter at Cannon Hall Farm, Helen wore the Ballina check showerproof jacket by Barbour; its bold check pattern and mix of soft neutral and navy tones create an eye-catching look. Beyond this, though, it’s an incredibly practical piece with its detachable hood and functional flap pockets, and a drawcord at the hem that allows you to play with its silhouette and create a sleek, relaxed fit or a more voluminous shape that hugs at the hips.

While we’re ready to transition into our spring capsule wardrobes and want desperately to pack away our best waterproof jackets in favour of more seasonal attire, the weather is still incredibly unpredictable, and a showerproof option like Helen’s Barbour jacket is a great one to have on hand.

With its bold and fun pattern, it doesn’t feel like Helen’s sacrificing style for practicality. In fact, a jacket like Helen’s can be the most stylish aspect of any spring look. I’m not the only one either as Helen Skelton has been loving a traditional Argyle-patterned cardigan in recent months and it features pops of burgundy and blossom-pink.

She just re-wore this affordable - and now sadly sold-out - Primark cardigan on BBC Morning Live, styled with a patent burgundy skirt and matching pointy boots. The base tone of this collared knit is a soft dove grey which is a big spring/summer fashion colour trend for 2026, as is pastel pink.

Argyle patterns have been incredibly popular over the winter and there’s no reason why you can’t continue to wear them into spring, especially if the shades are seasonal.

Helen’s cardigan is made more springy thanks to the light pink and although it’s a big colour contrast against the dark red, they both have a similar undertone. Because of this, they complement each other well and it’s why I’ve always loved styling them together.

To amp up the burgundy, the TV star loosely tucked her knitwear into the waistband of a dark red patent leather skirt. She’s worn a similar combination before but this is the first time we’ve seen Helen Skelton, who’s styled by the brilliant Alexandra Young, pair these pieces with boots.

Her pointy burgundy heeled boots could just be seen underneath her skirt and because they were the same tone they almost flowed into one another, creating a very leg-elongating effect. Boots are still a staple in many people's spring capsule wardrobes and I suspect the presenter was wearing knee-highs, though ankle boots would work too.

The key with a skirt as long as hers is to pick boots that go up higher than the hem to avoid having a tiny amount of ankle being visible and breaking up the seamless silhouette. Mixing the different textures of the shiny leather and the soft cardigan was a lovely way to give her outfit dimension and the burgundy tied in with the knitwear.

Helen could easily have gone for a black skirt and boots as that would’ve worked with the grey, but this was more fun and put the focus back on the cardigan.

When you’re styling pink and burgundy together you don’t have to go as all-out as she did, as a patterned jumper or cardi would also look great with classic blue jeans and white trainers.

However, even adding an extra touch of one of the colours with your accessories, makeup or even nail polish would tie the whole look together beautifully. Alternatively, you could go bolder still and colour block with different items rather than going for a piece that already combines these two shades.

Helen Skelton’s way is a little simpler, though, and she seems to love her skirt and cardigan combination. In October she wore this Primark knit with another leather pencil skirt and tan suede court heels to put a slightly smarter twist on things.

If you’re a fan of the classic jeans and a blazer outfit formula, a look like Helen’s is definitely one to bookmark. Especially if you’re looking for new date night outfit ideas. Offering a more elevated and romantic finish to blazers, a full, swishy midi skirt is ideal for creating hourglass curves.

In order to highlight your middle, pick an A-line skirt that sits on the waistline. This automatically nips you in and creates the bottom 'triangle' to your outfit. Where your waist is smaller than the wider hem of your A-line midi.

Next, add your cropped blazer. You want the hem of the blazer to just touch the top of your skirt. This creates the top, upside-down part of your triangle, so that your waist is once again the smallest, central point, while your shoulders are the 'wide' base of the triangle. This will help to create an hourglass silhouette and a feminine finish to blazer and skirt outfits.

Some of the best wool jumpers I've seen all season have been showcased in all their glory on TV and if you loved Claudia Winkleman's duck jumper - yes, you read that right - on The Traitors, then wait til you see Helen Skelton's knit. Graphic jumpers seem to be having a moment again and the BBC Morning Live host recently wore one featuring a rose design that brought spring to mind.

This £59 Joanie 'Doreen' jumper is made from organic cotton and has scalloped detailing on the neckline, cuffs and hem which accentuates its femininity. The vintage-inspired rose is made up of red and pink stitches, with stylised green leaves.

If you're weighing up the pros and cons of adding a graphic jumper to your winter capsule wardrobe, I'd recommend really considering the main colour. Neutrals like black, white and camel will naturally balance the pattern and feel less daunting to style.

Helen Skelton could easily re-wear her Joanie sweater with jeans and trainers day-to-day, but for work she tends to favour bright combinations and so she went for a pair of candy-pink trousers instead.

These are her Reiss Aura trousers that the presenter has worn on BBC Morning Live before, and they're flared. Like finding the best jeans for your body type, choosing a trouser shape you love and feel confident in is very personal.

I'm always a fan of Helen's fashion sense, but this outfit in particular caught my eye as it's similar to something I wore recently - and it's so simple to put-together. It really doesn't matter whether you love wool or cashmere jumpers, or affordable knits, as long as you have a design with a slightly loose silhouette that can drape over a skirt.

Helen Skelton's knit and skirt combo were both neutral and looked to be a bitter chocolate or charcoal tone, depending on the light. Either way, they complemented each other and going for similar or identical shades creates a minimal, cohesive feel.

Alternatively, go for a satin skirt that's black, brown or another colour that fits in with your winter capsule wardrobe. That way, it's easy to mix and match this more statement piece with plenty of your most-worn jumpers.

The sheen of the satin is luxurious and it's balanced by the soft texture of sweaters, meaning that you don't have to worry about your outfit looking too formal for the daytime. Helen put together a smart-casual outfit for the baby shower and rolled up the sleeves of her jumper and half-tucked it into the waistband of her skirt.

She accessorised with her signature gold jewellery for a touch of glamour and some black boots. The Countryfile star's skirt looked maxi-length, though satin midis are more widely available right now and they're well worth investing in given their versatility.

While presenting BBC Morning Live, Helen cut a striking figure in the Frank Paisley print velvet tailored blazer and the matching Richmond paisley print velvet flared trousers by Joanie. While a black court might have been a more obvious choice, Helen's brown courts prove that this neutral hue is just as versatile in a winter capsule wardrobe. Helen’s look shows that they can take the place of our go-to black heels and bring in a touch of warmth to occasion wear looks and smart casual outfit ideas.

The tone of her heels works beautifully with the colours in the suit, with mustard yellows, olive greens and rich berry pinks creating a striking, winter colour palette. Helen chose to let the pattern of her suit take centre stage by buttoning up her blazer and covering her choice of blouse underneath. This worked to keep the look unfussy and sleek, though a plain black or camel top would work as an extra layer when recreating her look.

Every year my Christmas party outfits and New Year’s Eve looks don’t tend to change too much, though a new style combination could be on the cards now for 2025. Helen Skelton just wore a fabulous festive suit on BBC Morning Live that would make a stunning NYE outfit and it’s very different from the dresses I usually wear.

Although it looks very dark in the picture that was shared on Instagram, Helen’s suit is actually a dark aubergine purple tone. It’s by British clothing brand, Whistles, and whilst the trousers are sadly almost completely sold out, there are still sizes left in the Misha blazer.

Both items are covered with delicate sequins and whilst you might think this would be *a lot*, the colour and the silhouettes mellow things nicely. The structured shape of the single breasted blazer and wide-leg trousers combined with the embellishments felt sophisticated and fashion-forward rather than gaudy.

The dark purple tone also helped balance things, as neither Helen’s blazer or trousers were in-your-face glittery like silver or gold designs can be. Black, grey or brown sequins would also be versatile and slightly more low-key but still fun.

The BBC Morning Live presenter wore the jacket done up at the front, turning it almost into a top in its own right, though I would personally style a suit like hers a black cami top or jumper underneath.

When you’re wearing something this gorgeous and eye-catching, I think the best approach is to go neutral with the rest of your look. That way, the embellishments do all the talking.

If you did want to recreate her shimmering ensemble for New Year’s Eve then it’s a clever, as well as chic, choice, as a suit gives a lot more coverage than a frock or skirt. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve put on my usual formula of a dress and tights and regretted it because of how cold I get in the inevitably terrible weather.

You can also get more wear out of separates than a dress (though they're also pretty), as I would definitely wear a pair of sequin trousers like Helen’s purple ones with chunky jumpers for special occasions throughout the rest of winter. Alternatively, if you are a big fan of styling jeans and a blazer, you can jazz up this combination with a sparkly jacket.

There are so many trouser and blazer options I’ve spotted on the high-street and online right now in the lead-up to the Christmas period and NYE. A lot of them are also already discounted so we can bag ourselves a relative bargain on sequin pieces that are normally pricey because of the work that goes into them.

When I first started to see designs pop up that featured integrated scarfs I wasn’t exactly won over, though Helen Skelton has just made me see them in a new light. I’ll still never be sold on the scarfigan trend (a scarf/cardigan hybrid), but the Winter On The Farm host recently styled a scarf-coat in the chicest way with combat boots.

Helen shared a glimpse of this outfit on Instagram as part of a series of snaps and video clips ahead of the return of the Channel 5 series. She described it as one of the "best weeks of the working year" and wrapped up warm to feed some horses in a barn with her camel coat, indigo jeans and a pair of stunning mahogany-brown boots.

These boots are by a royal-favourite British clothing brand, Fairfax & Favor, and like all their designs, combine practicality and style. A chunky cleated sole provides extra grip and although the leather isn’t technically waterproof, Helen has been impressed by their durability.

She wore them in the snow in another recent Instagram picture, stating they were "good as new" after doing so. The deep brown boots also complemented her wool Barbour Clementine Coat, which was a warm tan colour and fell to just above the knee.

The Winter On the Farm presenter chose to keep it unfastened, but it’s single-breasted, with large pockets on either side. What makes this design so trendy and distinct is the scarf detail, which is fixed to the neckline and can be draped downwards, tied, or thrown over the shoulder.

Unlike some designs I’ve seen, this scarf detail looks actually substantial and cosy. It saves Helen from having to bring separate accessories with her and naturally has a sense of cohesion as it’s made from the same tan wool material as the rest of the coat.

Even if you’re not convinced by her way of wearing this particular style, Helen Skelton showed how well a camel coat goes with brown boots. These tones are a softer alternative to black and paler colours tend to show off contrasting textures more, which is great for adding dimension.

She tucked her indigo Dubarry of Ireland skinny jeans into the top of her ankle boots to create a leg-elongating silhouette. There were several photos of Helen stepping out in the Yorkshire countryside in the Rails Silvarado Carpenter Jeans in the "blueprint" wash. They have a rather luxurious price tag at £218, though there are plenty of alternatives around right now that aren’t quite as much of an investment.

With buttoned styles you can easily achieve a version of this by leaving some of them undone. I am, however, fully on board with the broadcaster’s fashion pairings for her cardigan. Jeans and a chunky cardigan make a timeless combination for everyday.

I would wear the knit over a long-sleeved T-shirt or lightweight jumper, although they can also work over shirts or blouses. For days at home or low-key outings with friends and family there’s also something so chic about a midi dress with an oversized cardie over the top.

It’s a quick smart casual outfit and I’d finish it off with ankle boots. Helen Skelton kept her entire ensemble very neutral and the different tones complemented each other, though as long as your cardie is a pared-back colour you can incorporate brighter or deeper shades in your look.

By keeping her accessories neutral, Helen allows her dress to shine, but we also know that she could re-wear this dress later in the year with an entirely new set of accessories and it would look just as gorgeous, thanks to its timeless, vintage silhouette.

It was a mottled grey-taupe colour and although you can get waistcoats with a rounded high neckline, this one was a classic V-neck with buttons up the front. Caroline Parr, Digital Fashion Ecommerce Editor at woman&home, believes Helen’s way of wearing it is a good one to try.

"Figuring out how to style a waistcoat can feel tricky at first, but you won't go too far wrong teaming it with denim in any cut," she says. "A nipped-in, fitted silhouette looks great with skinny jeans like Helen's, but you could try playing with proportions by embracing baggy or barrel leg jeans too."

This complemented the tailored waistcoat well and the streamlined silhouette of bootcut jeans tied in with it too. I personally love wearing my fitted waistcoats with wide-leg jeans for a touch of contrast.

As Caroline explains, the nipped-in style of tailored vests works pretty universally with different jeans styles, making an outfit like Helen’s an easy way to embrace the waistcoat trend. The broadcaster looked confident and chic as she met Longhorn exhibitor David Blockley as part of the breed’s National Championship.

Pictures from the day also show her being enthusiastically greeted by a border collie. Throughout it all she was wearing a tan fedora hat which finished off her look. This shape of hat is often seen with very British country outfits whilst the jeans and boots felt more Western-inspired.

Whenever I’m not sure what to wear in the heat, I inevitably end up going with my failsafe option of a breezy dress and sandals. This combination is perfect for holidays as well as at home and as soon as I saw Helen Skelton’s fiery red dress on her Instagram I started trying to track it down.

The bright colour and crochet-esque design screams summer to me and I was stunned to find out exactly how affordable it is. Helen’s dress looks so expensive but is actually £26 at Primark!

She wore it for an episode of BBC Morning Live and it also comes in emerald green and black. Although it’s described on the website as a maxi dress, I looked more like a longer midi length on Helen and it has a V-neckline and ruffled cap sleeves.

The flowing skirt is more sheer towards the bottom, giving you the coverage of a midi dress with the fun feel of a mini. The neckline is mirrored at the back with a frill and I’m not at all surprised that Helen chose the red version.

The TV host loves wearing red all year round and she’s particularly fond of a red dress for special occasions and sunny days. It’s a vibrant tone that instantly brightens up an outfit and pairs beautifully with neutrals and blue denim.

Many people will have plenty of jeans and tan, white and black in their wardrobes, so red is actually easier to style than you might think. Helen Skelton wore her high street dress with caramel-coloured court shoe heels for a smarter look.

This makes sense as she was at work, however, I’ll be styling the red dress a little differently. The length and sweeping neckline make this design more elevated than your typical day dress, but the crochet fabric means I would still pair it with my best white trainers.

They’re comfortable, classic and the sporty edge would help dress the frock down for a BBQ or lunch with friends. When I want to feel put-together, I’d reach for flat or wedge espadrilles and a raffia bag instead.

Woven textures are always a big trend this time of year and, like espadrilles, they’re great for adding into smart-casual outfits. Helen didn’t need a bag for filming BBC Morning Live, though a raffia crossbody bag or clutch would be stunning with her dress.

Add a large straw hat when you’re on holiday and you’ve got yourself a very glamorous ensemble indeed. Helen finished off her outfit with a few delicate gold necklaces, a chunky gold bracelet and a selection of rings.

Silver might be the trendiest metal colour right now, but gold is Helen’s go-to, and the warm undertones complement bright reds. Most of the times I remember her wearing a red dress in the past she’s accessorised with her favourite gold jewellery pieces and this looks so glamorous every time.

No matter the weather, there’s a denim style to suit it and I get so much wear out of my jeans in spring that I’m surprised I’ve never thought to invest in a denim jumpsuit before. The best jumpsuits are easy to wear and comfortable, but perhaps my favourite thing about them is the all-in-one element.

Helen Skelton’s denim jumpsuit was the epitome of effortless style and I saw it when I came across an Instagram video clip from her new BBC programme, Forever Home, which aired on 15th May.

She and architect Patrick Bradley join up to see if people can make their dream forever home a reality and Helen was wearing a boiler suit in the main picture. It was long-sleeved, but Helen rolled them up to her elbows.

The TV host also popped her collar and embraced a big denim trend for 2025 and rolled up the hems of the trouser legs. Although this looked stylish and tied in with the polished yet casual feel of her jumpsuit, it also fulfilled a purpose.

Helen Skelton is nothing if not practical and doing this meant that her outfit finished just above her short black Chelsea boots and didn’t get muddy. I love the turn-up trend because it means that you can easily adjust your denim pieces to suit your height and shoes and it doesn’t look out of place.

The wash of Helen’s jumpsuit was a light, soft blue which was very summery. Just like when you’re styling jeans, the wash is key to making a jumpsuit more wearable.

If you love indigo and deep blue jeans then I’d advise you to stick to these tones, but if lighter blues are your thing then they work especially well for the season because they look great with lighter accessories.

I personally love a mid-blue wash as it falls between the two and strikes a good balance between the more formal feel of darker denim and relaxedness of lighter shades. A mid-blue denim jumpsuit would be easier to make into a smart-casual outfit because of this.

As Helen Skelton was filming Forever Home and needed sturdy footwear she didn’t accessorise her boiler suit the way she might have done otherwise. For an ordinary spring or summer day I’d wear my best white trainers with a jumpsuit like this.

In hotter weather, I’d swap these out for tan, black or white sandals. Espadrilles are another lovely footwear option as they give added elevation which makes them a little smarter, but are comfier than stiletto heels.

Unlike jeans and shorts, Helen’s jumpsuit is an instant outfit and she brought a subtle touch of glamour with a chain necklace and a few bracelets. With her blonde hair worn up in one of her signature messy buns, the TV star looked so chic as she watched couple Jess and Colin complete their renovation in Wales.

When the sun is shining and I want to be comfortable and cool I often reach for shorts, but can end up feeling a bit conscious about having so much of my legs showing when I’m at the beach or running errands.

Sometimes I just want a bit more coverage and Helen Skelton has just given me a very simple solution. The presenter has a "new series incoming" and it’s clearly filmed on the coast as she shared a few snaps of her at the seaside on Instagram. Her outfit was exactly what I want to wear in the heat and it featured blue denim shorts.

They had stylishly frayed hems and were high-rise, with a vintage-style blue wash. Over the top she layered a blue, white and red striped shirt which was tied loosely around her waist.

This would help me feel a bit more comfortable when I’m out in shorts and although this isn’t something everyone will be as concerned about, Helen’s way of wearing shorts was also effortlessly stylish.

Tying the shirt round her waist gave her beachy ensemble a more relaxed, casual edge and the striped design brought a pop of colour too. If the weather took a turn, the TV host could also have easily thrown this piece back on for extra warmth and this is why breathable shirts are such a handy staple to have.

Linen and cotton shirts are my go-tos for the season and if pattern and vibrant tones aren’t for you, I’d recommend going for a plain white one that will work with everything. They can take on the role of top, cover-up or cardigan depending on what’s needed.

Helen Skelton wore hers with her shorts, a white vest top and her favourite ASRA Sami sandals which are now sadly sold out everywhere (believe me, I’ve looked!). She stepped out in them a lot last year and they have statement studs, a slingback design and croc-print finish.

Whilst you can’t get your hands on these right now, chunky sandals in general are a good alternative to your best white trainers when socks are the last thing you want to wear.

Some designs have cushioned footbeds for comfort and the elevation you get from a chunkier sole is lovely. They also feel quite fashion-forward and trendy, but in a wearable way.

These ASRA sandals are a firm favourite in Helen's collection and she took them with her on holiday to Menorca last year. She paired these shoes with a simple black midi dress and if you’re going to wear more statement sandals, keeping the rest of your look timeless like she did is a great tip.

Spring means an abundance of pastels and in recent weeks pistachio green has emerged as one of the most popular hues.

We can see why, as it’s muted enough to work with so many other colours, but it’s far from the only option if you want your outfits to be "spring-like". As much as we love wearing green, it’s not for everyone and pale pinks are one of the biggest spring/summer fashion trends for 2025.

Many of us will already have a leopard print piece - or several - in our spring capsule wardrobe as it’s been a huge trend in recent years. Just when we thought we’d already found our favourite outfit combinations to make with our best winter boots, Helen Skelton has inspired us with a look that will work so well as we move into spring. The outdoor-loving broadcaster appeared on Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes on BBC 2 on 24th February in an episode filmed in the Lake District. Her outfit for the occasion couldn’t have been more perfect as her denim shirt, cream cargo trousers and shearling boots were practical but still looked very put-together.

The shirt was a light blue wash which always feels very relaxed and summery and Helen wore it with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows which accentuated this casualness even more. She left a few buttons undone at the top and layered a black crew neck T-shirt underneath the shirt.

This is the beauty of a denim shirt as whilst they work perfectly as a top in their own right, they are also easy to throw over a T-shirt or vest top for a bit more warmth on a chilly spring day. We can’t help feeling that a denim shirt is the everyday equivalent of a plain white shirt when it comes to versatility and timelessness.

Whilst not everyone would want to wear a crisp white shirt for a low-key outing, a denim shirt can be swapped into your outfit instead. They’re great for wearing with jeans for a double denim look and if you’re not as keen on this pairing, Helen Skelton’s trousers are a comfy alternative. Cargo trousers and jeans have been so popular in recent months and her cargo trousers were a light beige tone and tapered at the bottom.

This allowed her to effortlessly tuck them into her shearling-lined boots. We suspect that the Countryfile star was wearing a pair of the Nanette boots by Grenson - in our opinion one of the best British clothing brands when you want high-quality, beautifully-made shoes - however the most similar colourway is now sadly out of stock. If these are her shoes, then they are hiking boots and when Helen is in the great outdoors she tends to prefer sturdy walking boots rather than fashion boots.

The shearling tongue running up the front of Helen Skelton’s boots also reminds us of Sorel snow boots, many of which are in the sale right now. Whatever the brand, her footwear looked very cosy and the contrast of the tan boot with the white shearling and light laces was stunning.

Keeping to a paler neutral tone with her shoes also complemented her beige trousers and Helen brought some glamour with her signature gold jewellery. Blending comfort and style is often easier said than done and as much as we love the classic flat ankle boots in our winter capsule wardrobe, sometimes we want a design that makes us feel a little more put-together. That doesn’t mean reaching for heeled boots every time as Helen Skelton has just proved that Chelsea boots tick those boxes too. They’re a great casual boot that still looks very chic and she wore a pair of khaki green ones from Norwegian brand BRGN for a weekend trip with her daughter this month.

The Countryfile star shared a few snapshots on Instagram of her outing to a National Trust property and her boots immediately caught our attention. They had a chunkier black sole and rose above Helen’s ankles, creating a streamlined silhouette.

If you are wary of ankle boots finishing too low down - both for warmth and style preferences - then something taller like this is perfect and helps to give a leg elongating effect. Helen Skelton’s Chelsea boots are crafted from leather and have a waterproof and breathable membrane. We wouldn’t expect anything less from the queen of practical style but the overall design and colour made these chicer than many of the best wellies.

The €299 BRGN Chelsea Boots come in a range of colours but hers appear to be the Rosin Dark Green. Many people will naturally gravitate more towards neutral boots as they are the most versatile, but an earthy green like khaki or olive is muted enough to not pose too much of a style challenge.

Utilitarian tones like this are one of the biggest spring/summer fashion trends for 2025 and they’re great when you want to add a splash of colour to an outfit in an understated way. Helen also owns Chelsea boots in a soft sand colour which is beautiful, as well as a black pair.

Helen leaned into the green and wore a pair of khaki ankle grazer trousers which she draped over the top of her boots. For a more dressed-up look you can easily tuck in leggings, tights and streamlined trousers into Chelsea boots and the elasticated side panels make this very easy.

That’s part of the beauty of Chelsea boots as they are comfortable and can be slipped on or off quickly, but they feel more fashion-forward with their shape and elasticated panels than a plain pair of black or brown boots. You can elevate them or wear them more casually and they come in so many different heel heights too.

The BRGN boots were sturdy but cool for Helen’s day out and the broadcaster tucked a classic cream roll neck jumper into her trousers. Over the top she wore a (sadly out of stock) M&S borg collarless jacket in a beige tone with black buckles.

We love the textural contrast this brought to her outfit and it kept to the pared-back colour palette of her boots, trousers and jumper. If the weather is colder we’d add a puffer, but on milder February days or as, dare we say, spring approaches, something like Helen Skelton’s outfit is a brilliant casual and comfortable choice that still looks stylish.

If you had to pick the first styling choice that comes to mind when you think of leopard print, it probably wouldn’t have been ‘denim’, but Helen Skelton has proved that this is such a chic combination. The leopard print trend is still going strong and many people will have a leopard print piece or two in their winter capsule wardrobe. In Helen’s case it’s a pair of wide leg leopard print trousers and we saw a glimpse of them when she shared a video montage of pictures from filming BBC Morning Live. The beautiful drape of the trouser legs suggests to us that they weren’t jeans, but either way looked so comfortable and stylish.

Wide leg silhouettes are easy to wear with any footwear thanks to their loose fit and the volume of them adds a bit of instant drama and structure to an outfit. Helen Skelton’s leopard print trousers were high-waisted and she tucked in her dark blue denim blouse. This makes them far simpler to style than a warm-toned leopard print can sometimes be and the contrast against Helen’s denim top was striking. She chose to leave the bow untied and draping downwards which made it a little less demure and more relaxed. The blouson sleeves were a lovely detail and the deep blue colour of the denim is one of our favourites when we want a smart-casual look. Helen is a big fan of indigo denim pieces - and leopard print - and putting them together like this made a winning outfit.

For a more subtle take on this combination you could wear a leopard print shirt or jumper with your go-to jeans. There are also so many different ways to style leopard print with denim that can be adapted to suit your signature style, whether it’s wearing a leopard print skirt instead of trousers like Helen’s with a denim top, styling your jeans with leopard print boots or even going all-out and wearing a leopard print coat with a denim jumpsuit. Lighter or darker denim washes would work just as well with this pattern too.

However, for a more low-key outing running errands or meeting up with friends and family we would swap them for white trainers or flat black boots to tie in with the leopard spots.

Unlike many of the aviator jackets we’ve seen, the lining extended beyond the cuffs of the sleeves for maximum cosiness. It had a zip running up the front and fell to Helen’s waist which is perfect for layering both longline and similar-length knitwear underneath.

Every year we face the same styling dilemma when it comes to New Year’s Eve - whether to dress up for the occasion or pull out the cosiest pieces from our winter capsule wardrobe. This year the decision is still not yet made, but Helen Skelton’ has just made a case for going all-out this December. She recently took to Instagram to share a series of glimpses at her final couple of weeks of outfits of 2024 on BBC Morning Live and the first of these was a sensational sequin dress. Standing in front of a snowy studio scene featuring several Christmas trees, Helen beamed as the camera captured the dazzling sparkle of her outfit.

Her dress, which looks to be a Topshop design, had a high crew neckline and beautiful long sleeves, with more structured shoulders giving them a gorgeous drape. The Countryfile presenter is just as at home in her best wellies and puffer coats as she is in glamorous dresses and heels and she went somewhere in between for a visit to Raby Castle. Sharing a video of her trip there with her children on Instagram, Helen gave us plenty of outfit inspiration with her holly berry red jumper and black beret, worn with a long checked coat.

Together they had such a luxurious feel and the structured shoulders of the blazer made it even more striking. The best winter boots and coats make you feel chic whilst keeping you warm and dry and no one knows the importance of striking this balance between style and practicality more than Helen Skelton. The Countryfile host often shares glimpses of her outfits on social media and we’ve come across a festive photo from December 2022 that epitomises Helen’s signature winter style. The mum-of-three took to Instagram on Christmas Eve to share some snaps of her enjoying a Christmas outing with her children to meet Father Christmas and wore a snuggly black puffer coat with leather leggings and Sorel waterproof boots.

This means you’ll be far more likely to reach for your duvet coat as an everyday piece and Helen Skelton wore hers with what look to be a pair of leather or faux leather leggings. Keeping to a pared-back monochrome colour palette made her practical festive outfit feel so sophisticated and she tucked her trousers into black snow boots.

They had laces up the front and a white fluffy lining to help keep Helen’s feet toasty throughout her visit to Santa. We suspect they might have been the Sorel Whitney II Waterproof Snow Boots which are made from waterproof suede and nylon upper and microfleece lining, as well as a faux fir trim. They also have a moulded EVA footbed and rubber traction outsole that provides grip and stability for when you’re out and about.

The TV star’s exact boots don’t look to be available anymore but Sorel makes so many fabulous designs that are well worth investing in to keep your feet dry and warm all winter long. Although the boots Helen wore in 2022 had a slightly sporty edge, they worked so well with her leggings and coat and she finished off her look with a black studded messenger bag worn crossbody.

This was the perfect outfit for a special day out with her kids and we can easily imagine Helen Skelton’s duvet coat and boots getting a lot of wear on chilly winter walks and other family outings. Alternatively, if you just want to be warm for running errands and other daytime outings and aren’t so committed to having a fully water-resistant piece, a puffer jacket in general is a great choice to keep you toasty. Helen’s choice of a black puffer jacket is a clever one as it means she can mix and match it with any of her winter outfits and it will work effortlessly with so many other hues.

With her fleece, though, the TV star went for a pop of pattern and wore a black and white abstract print fleece with a half zip. A fleece is a brilliant mid-layer that we can often overlook in favour of another jumper or thick cardigan, but sometimes having a cosy but slightly lightweight layer under a coat is something we’re looking for. As Helen said a fleece can be worn "on all occasions" and isn’t so outdoor-focused. They can be styled the same way you would knitwear and give a more relaxed feel to any outfit.

The broadcast star has never been afraid to wear vivid colours when she’s filming and red is one of the tones that we’ve seen Helen wear a lot before.

Bright red might seem daunting to style, but this colour goes beautifully with blue denim and would also work with any of the neutral pieces you have in your winter capsule wardrobe already, like your favourite camel coat or black boots. Helen Skelton proved how easy it is to create a balanced, wearable outfit that features a pop of red as she wore her jumper dress with a grey marl coat and black boots.

The coat was almost as long as her dress and had a slightly oversized shape with lapels. "As someone who is regularly stood for hours on a pitch sideline and out on very long muddy walks with the kids and dog, I had been after a changing-style robe for a while,” she says. “I wanted something that would give me full coverage, room to move, keep me warm, be breathable and completely waterproof, have enough pockets so I could be hands free but take everything I need out, have a hood big enough to cover my whole head, was easily cleaned and looked good - not much to ask, right?”

Kerrie has now found her dream dry robe, explaining, “After doing some research, I came across this dry changing robe from red, which ticked all those boxes and was available in a range of beautiful colours. I have worn this coat numerous times now in the most dreadful weather, and I always feel fully protected from the elements. I've had so many compliments while wearing it too!"

It’s not known what colour Helen Skelton’s dry robe is but it had a cosy, white lining and she styled hers with a white top underneath and patterned leggings. To up the practical factor even more for her beach walk, the TV star also stepped out in walking boots. Many of us will have our favourite pairs of suede boots and knee high boots for autumn/winter but walking boots are an unbeatable choice for frosty or wet walks outdoors.

Helen has worn several pairs in recent months, from her Hunter walking boots to her BRGN boots, and these ones had a contrasting sole and upper. She finished off her look with a dark baseball cap that gave it an even more relaxed feel and looked to be wearing her signature chunky gold earrings. Whilst we might now be dreaming of cosy evenings beside warming fires, we can still enjoy wearing some of the lighter items in our autumn capsule wardrobe before the weather turns this cold. Layering pieces come into their own at this time of year and there’s nothing quite like the simple combination of jeans, a jacket and trainers to ease you into the chillier days. Sometimes it's hard to style the best wide leg jeans and when we’re not sure how to give them an autumnal twist, who do we turn to but the ever-stylish Helen Skelton. The BBC Morning Live star worked with fashion consultant Gok Wan and JD Williams and earlier this year checked out the brand's new collection.

Although she was viewing their spring collection, the changeable weather in spring and autumn often means that the pieces we loved wearing in one season work seamlessly for the other. This is certainly the case with Helen’s wide-leg jeans and cool tan leather jacket that she wore in the photo shared on Instagram that day.

Helen Skelton isn’t often seen wearing jeans when she’s on air filming BBC Morning Live, but outside of this role she loves a bit of denim. This pair of jeans were light wash, with a high rise fit that is very flattering if you want to accentuate your waist. Wide-leg silhouettes are so popular right now, both for jeans and trousers, and it’s sometimes tricky to try new designs after finding the best jeans for your body type, but this style is well worth it.

Both the light blue hue and design of Helen’s wide-leg jeans gave her outfit a casual feel, as did the long hems which draped over her trainers. She then added a tan-toned leather jacket to this relaxed yet polished outfit. This piece looks like it could be the Anthology Leather Biker jacket which is still available to buy in several sizes from JD Williams and is down to £117 from £195.

The tan colour instantly lifts the colour palette of her outfit and it would work so well with the shades that are on-trend for this autumn, including burgundy and olive green, which Helen also loves to wear. It’s something a little bit different to the traditional black leather jacket and is just as wearable and easy to style. Throw on a jacket like Helen’s with everything from a knitted dress and knee high boots to jeans and a warm jumper and you’ll feel that bit edgier and more chic.

The TV star draped a charcoal grey knitted jumper over her shoulders and weaved it under the collar of her leather jacket which gave it the appearance of a scarf. The contrast in textures between the smooth leather and soft jumper was a stunning detail and Helen finished off her outfit with a pair of classic white trainers that you can just see under her jeans.

Comfy and simple, trainers often get overlooked in favour of boots when the weather gets colder but during this transitional time between seasons they’re still a brilliant option. Helen’s outfit was spring-ready, but the cosy casualness would be perfect for autumn too and has reminded us that we don’t need to be wearing only wool jumpers and thick coats quite yet.

As soon as the weather starts to turn colder and we shift our style to be more autumnal we tend to notice a colour pattern emerging with the tones we’re most excited to include in our autumn capsule wardrobe. Burgundy is huge for the season and chocolate brown and burnt orange will never go out of style, echoing the changing colours of the leaves around us. Now we might just have another new favourite hue after coming across one of Helen Skelton’s stunning looks that she shared a glimpse of on social media back in June 2021. Describing it as a "throwback" to pre-pandemic when people could attend festivals and book events, Helen’s leafy surroundings look very autumnal in this picture.

Even if the original snap wasn’t taken in the colder months, Helen Skelton’s burnt amber co-ord is perfect for this time of year. If the famous autumnal flavouring pumpkin spice was a colour, surely it would be this, with its blend of orange and brown hues.

Countryfile presenter Helen is a big fan of a co-ord and this one featured a tailored blazer with a wrap design to it. This softened the silhouette of this piece and made it a little more contemporary than traditional suit-style blazers. Making it even more feminine was the tie-belt to fasten it and this is always a flattering detail if you want to accentuate your waist.

This blazer had boxy sleeves and a V-neckline with elongated lapels that framed her décolletage. It looked as though Helen was wearing her blazer as a top in itself, though on a colder day you could easily wear one of your best wool jumpers underneath as long as it was a lightweight, streamlined style. We've seen her wear leggings in a similar colour before, but Helen Skelton’s pumpkin spice-toned co-ord also included a pair of straight leg trousers with a pleat running down the front of each leg.

The bottom of the jacket draped over their waistband in a peplum-esque way, though they looked as though they were likely high-waisted. If you already miss your best jumpsuits from summer and are looking for an alternative to wear to autumn/winter events like weddings then a co-ord is always worth considering.

A matching set requires minimal styling as you already know the items complement each other perfectly. In a colour like this, they can be show stopping and Helen’s choice of an orangey-brown colour co-ord screams autumn to us. It has a warmth to it and although there is some orange in there, the conker brown tones make it also quite neutral and easy to pair with chocolate brown, tan and beige accessories.

The TV star chose to wear gold sandals with her co-ord instead and these looked equally beautiful, with a strap running across her foot. Gold necklaces and earrings are a big part of Helen’s signature style day-to-day, at least in recent years, but back then she wasn’t wearing any visible jewellery and this made her co-ord even the outfit focus.

She swept her golden hair up into a casual topknot and this brought a more relaxed feel to her look which was otherwise quite elevated. It was a far cry from her practical, countryside chic outfits that she wears for filming Channel 5’s On The Farm and her new show, Yorkshire Great and Small with Dan and Helen, with Dan Walker. It just shows how versatile her style is and how she adapts it seamlessly to suit the occasion.
