The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is giving us more than just inspiration for our gardening, as the attending celebrities are pulling out their best looks to inspire our seasonal dressing, too.

While floral print dresses are dominating the dress code, Clodagh McKenna stayed true to her vintage aesthetic when she attended the show earlier this week. Wearing bold pink pinstripes, she paired Penelope Chilvers' Loxley skirt with the matching Evenly blouse by Penelope Chilvers, creating a well-coordinated and bold style. The A-line skirt and tucked-in top created an hourglass silhouette, and Clodagh kept her look weather-appropriate and laidback by adding a longline denim jacket on top.

Attending a spring wedding over the weekend, she wore the Rachel dress by Queens of Archive in a gorgeous peach hue, which was elegant and romantic, ideal for nuptials. While cooking away on the show, she stopped to offer up the little nugget of wisdom.

She told the show's hosts, Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, if you’ve not zested the lemon rind, you can simply use up any leftovers by scooping out the flesh, popping it in the freezer and then using them like “little lemon ice bowls for serving ice cream in”.

Cat was definitely sold on the nifty little tip, looking visibly impressed when Clodagh and declaring it “cute!”

Citrus and fruit themed kitchenware is always a popular design in the spring and summer months - usually an easy way to add some seasonal colour to your kitchen - so why not skip out on buying more plates and get the same effect with an actual lemon?

Otherwise, I'd stick to white trainers and whichever top suits the temperature that day. Filming on This Morning on 31st March, Clodagh McKenna opted for her yellow Fair Isle jumper and loosely tucked it into her jeans.

A perfect tuck all the way round is great when you've got a fitted top as it accentuates your waist and creates a smooth line. With chunkier knitwear or oversized shirts, going for a partial tuck ties in with the relaxed style better and still gives some definition.

With straight-leg jeans you can get away with wearing pretty much any type of top, as they aren't overly loose or fitted. In contrast, something like wide-leg jeans can work with a bulky jumper but because they're already quite slouchy, it can sometimes take a bit more time to style the pieces together if you want to balance proportions.

Celebrating St Patrick’s Day by making a chocolate Guinness cake for Wednesday's episode, Clodagh wore the Brora organic cotton broderie anglaise blouse and a pair of Brora houndstooth wool trousers, both of which are from her collaboration with the British clothing brand and are also currently on sale.

There’s no such trouble here, with our eyes firmly drawn to that statement belt and its oversized buckle.

While Clodagh lent into a western feel with her plaid shirt, a simple graphic t-shirt, blouse, or white button-up would benefit just as much from being alongside the same styling. Even when it comes to a jeans and a blazer outfit, slipping on a thick belt before layering on a blazer will create waist definition.

So many denim trends for 2026 are easy to get on board with and this includes double denim which is set to have a resurgence (did it ever go away?) over the coming months. The so-called Canadian Tuxedo is something you can also get away with wearing in winter and Clodagh McKenna has done just that.

The Irish chef recently shared her recipe for 'Sunshine Soup' from her new book, Happy Cooking, and in her post she had on a button-down denim shirt and ultra high-waisted jeans. You can adjust double denim outfits so easily to suit your style, both with the silhouettes and tones.

Many people prefer having more of a colour contrast between the jeans and the top, but Clodagh went for similar washes. Her shirt, which had a neat collar and long sleeves, was only slightly paler than her jeans.

Going for mid-blue shades like she did is a clever move as I think they are the most versatile. Dark indigo denim can look a bit too formal or stark for certain occasions and likewise, very pale blues lend themselves to casual outings.

The chef's outfit struck a good balance between these two aesthetics and she left several shirt buttons undone, balancing out how high-rise her jeans were. Finding the best jeans for your body type is such a personal thing and high-rise designs are incredibly popular as they accentuate the waist and create a leg-elongating effect.

The waistband of Clodagh's jeans was wide and featured two statement silver buttons and handy belt loops. She tucked in her shirt so each item flowed smoothly into the other and high-waisted denim lends itself to this styling.

In the post she shared on social media with her soup recipe, we only got a glimpse of the ITV star from the thighs up so we can't be sure what the rest of the jeans looked like. Given how relaxed the top of them is, it would make sense if they were a looser style like straight, wide or barrel-leg.

Wide-leg jeans are my personal favourite as they are comfy and drape effortlessly over any type of footwear. With a more fitted denim shirt like Clodagh's, this shape would work well, though if you are a die-hard skinny jean fan then reach for them.

Some people find double denim daunting because it can be quite a bold look and I would advise sticking to denim shapes and colours you already wear a lot as it'll make you more confident pairing jackets or shirts and jeans together.

The good news is that once you've got your main denim outfit pieces together, the rest of the look is a breeze. Denim goes with any other colours so your bag, shoe and coat options are endless. Clodagh didn't need any outerwear whilst she was cooking at home and she's been reaching for a lot of knee-high boots and ankle boots recently.

She most likely chose a pair of them to go with her ensemble, as she did when she wore a double-denim-esque outfit on This Morning back in November. Whether or not her Nobody's Child blouse actually was denim, it had that look about it and she styled it with similar-toned belted jeans.

While we love wrapping up in long, thick scarves, the design of sleeker cowl scarves like Clodagh’s is incredibly clever. Especially in harsh winter winds, their endless, circular design means they’re not blown or untangled from around the neck, and you can burrow your chin into the warm, knitted fabric on those especially cold days.

Layered over a thick jumper with a high neckline, cowl scarves offer optimal warmth and keep any skin from being exposed to the elements. This is exactly what Clodagh did, and we love how this added a cosy finish to her tailored Boden coat.

This scarf and coat pairing is one to be layered over any winter outfit formula, whether it’s a laid-back look of skinny jeans and one of the best cashmere jumpers in your winter capsule wardrobe, or over smart casual outfit ideas of tailored trousers, blouses and blazers.

When we’re deciding what to wear in the snow, frost or rain, the main factor we consider is practicality, though function and style do go hand-in-hand. Just because you’ve reached for your best wellies over sleek ankle boots doesn’t mean you can’t look put-together and Clodagh McKenna just nailed warm and chic winter dressing.

The chef and This Morning star shared a video on 29th December showing her picking turnip tops for dinner and her layered look is all the inspiration we need for January styling. She wore a Mint Velvet borg-lined gilet over a roll-neck Fair Isle jumper and her corduroy trousers and green wellies finished things off perfectly.

In colder weather she’d probably have added a coat over the top, but these pieces work either way and you could even wear them at home (minus the boots).

This year, Mint Velvet have brought out a very similar gilet that’s reversible, with a snuggly borg lining and tan exterior (if you wear it like Clodagh did). Unlike a winter coat which covers up most of your outfit, a gilet shows off your knitwear and so going for something neutral is a safe bet as it’ll go with any colour top.

Clodagh McKenna’s jumper was quite minimal and featured pops of burgundy, brown and pale pink on the white background. Fair Isle designs have a traditional feel and they’ve been especially popular this winter, but they always come back into fashion in the colder months.

The timelessness of the chef’s sweater worked well against the slightly more statement gilet and the brown in the pattern complemented the tan material.

Her Mango cords almost exactly matched this too and instead of smoothly tucking in her knitwear, she chose to do it loosely over the waistband which looked more relaxed. Clodagh’s outfit was all about layers and different textures, from the corduroy to the wool and borg.

This helps to give any winter ensemble more dimension, especially if you’re wearing items in very similar or the same shades. Although we didn’t get a clear glimpse of the trousers’ silhouette, they were likely straight-leg given how she was able to tuck them into her La Chameau wellies.

They’re lined with neoprene for extra insulation and this is a handy feature whether or not you’re wearing them in torrential rain or snow. Although they - and most wellies - come in various colours, the classic Wellington Boot colour is khaki.

It’s no wonder Clodagh went for this and the earthy tone worked well against the tan trousers and gilet. To make this outfit even warmer I’d advise wearing a thermal top under a jumper and adding an oversized coat with plenty of room for the gilet.

Mix and match your favourite knits and trousers to switch-up the look. Clodagh McKenna has worn several different Fair Isle jumpers and cardigans already this winter, so she could also recreate this outfit with different combinations throughout the rest of the season.

Appearing on This Morning alongside Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, Irish chef Clodagh explained that it takes just a small amount of her unexpected addition to create hearty winter dishes that boast a rich, velvety texture and delicious flavour.

As she tipped a bowl of dark chocolate chips into the stew simmering away on air, Ben pointed out that it seemed like a "decent amount", but Clodagh explained that around 50g should be just enough to reap the tasty benefits.

As Cat asked whether the sweet addition gives the dish a chocolatey taste, Clodagh explained, "You don't taste the chocolate. You taste a smokiness and it gives it this gorgeous, velvety texture."

After a clip of the on-screen moment was shared on Instagram, plenty of Clodagh's fans took to the comment section.

"Love adding dark choc to chilli," one wrote, as Clodagh replied, "Ditto!"

"I always add dark chocolate after following your beef stew recipe! Makes a huge difference," another added, while a third wrote, "Lots of people forget this tip. Awesome job Clodagh."

Meanwhile, other commenters suggested using cocoa powder as an alternative to chocolate itself for an "easier and cheaper" way to achieve similar results.

There are so many autumn/winter fashion trends it’s hard to keep track, but one that’s got plenty of staying power is traditional patterns. Fair Isle and Argyle jumpers and cardigans are incredibly popular right now and they’re so classic that you know they’ll look chic in the years to come too.

Neutral colours like these balance out patterns and prints and make them less daunting to style, whilst still making a statement. Brown, camel or grey make softer alternatives to black or navy and can be paired with lighter and darker items easily.

This is how Clodagh McKenna chose to wear her cardigan, as her fitted jumper underneath was a light cream hue and her dungarees were a rich burnt orange. These colours all complemented each other because they had warm undertones, though if you prefer cooler shades, you could pair a grey Fair Isle knit with blue or white.

Fair Isle brings a traditional edge to any outfit, as does corduroy, so put together Clodagh made a cosy winter look that was simultaneously on-trend and very timeless. Dungarees are the off-duty equivalent of a flattering jumpsuit and are comfy to wear, though you could easily swap them for cord trousers instead.

Likewise, if you love the chef’s ensemble but prefer jumpers, a Fair Isle sweater would be just as pretty. Once again, she went for warm-toned cords and this time looked to have worn the cardigan as a top in its own right.

Whilst this approach won’t be for everyone, it is becoming an increasingly popular way to wear cardigans and means you can get maximum use out of them. When it’s worn done up, you can clearly see the full beauty of a Fair Isle pattern on a cardi like Clodagh's too, with geometric motifs typically running across the front or around the neckline.

Author and TV chef, Clodagh McKenna, is proving that finding "the one" later in life, can definitely be worth the wait.

Clodagh, 50, met her husband, Harry Herbert, 66, in 2017. When they met, Harry had been single for two years after his 25-year marriage came to an end. Clodagh had previously been in a long relationship before the couple found each other.

Henry's father was Lord Porchester, the 7th Earl of Carnarvon. When the couple married in 2021, the wedding took place at Harry's ancestral home, Highclere Castle.

During a recent appearance on Lorraine, Clodagh couldn't praise her husband highly enough. Referring to Harry as "the kindest man I've ever met," she reflected on how being older when she met him, shaped her in knowing exactly what she wanted from a relationship.

He's really, really special," Clodagh told guest presenter, Christine Lampard about her husband. "He came into my life at a later time in my life, I didn't meet him until I was in my 40s," she explained.

A glowing Clodagh continued, "It's really interesting when you're later in life, what you look for in a person. I looked for somebody with the same values as me."

Adorably, she referred to Harry as "gorgeous and handsome," but asserted what really mattered was him being "the kindest man in this world."

Clodagh describes her husband as being so supportive of her career, saying that as a woman in her 50s, it's "so lovely" to have that level of encouragement and someone to say, "I'm so proud of you."

Jennifer Aniston is another celebrity who has had some high-profile romances, but has recently revealed a new relationship at a later stage in life, with wellness coach and hypnotist, Jim Curtis.

The pair appeared together at the premiere for season four of The Morning Show in September, and Jennifer, 56, made the union official by "announcing" it via Instagram on November 2.

Similarly, actress Kristin Scott Thomas married again at the age of 64. She'd spent many years being single after her 17-year marriage to French fertility specialist François Olivennes came to an end in 2005.

Like Clodagh, the star has spoken about being sure of what you want from life when you're older, and knowing just what you're looking for in a relationship.

"What you’re looking for when you’re in your fifties and sixties is very different from what you’re looking for in your twenties," the actress told The Times.

If you asked people to pick a staple outfit they simply couldn’t do without in their summer capsule wardrobe, I suspect jeans and a T-shirt would come up a lot. It’s a simple but timeless combination that makes a great fallback for everyday.

Indigo is a big denim trend for 2025, but as much as I love darker denim it can feel more wintery and too formal depending on what else you want to wear with it. Mid-blue washes strike the perfect balance between formality and casualness and so can be worn in different ways.

This makes them the most versatile denim tones and mid-blue dungarees are also a good starting point if you’re not used to wearing overalls. They provide less of a stark contrast against whatever top you choose than black or indigo ones would.

The adjustable straps on dungarees like Clodagh’s Levi's are so handy and whilst you can get them with slightly different necklines, hers had a classic straight-across neckline and a pocket on the front. She wore a loose white T-shirt underneath and going for a crew neckline that sits higher than her dungarees is a clever tip to take.

It helped to highlight the beautiful shape of the dungarees and a V-neck or off-shoulder design might have fallen to a point that bunched under the straps or front panel. A crewneck avoids this and the chef finished off her look with a chunky gold necklace that accentuated this shape.

Although you couldn’t see it from the snap she shared on Instagram after her This Morning appearance, Clodagh’s Levi’s overalls had straight-cut legs. Whilst full-length dungarees or jeans aren’t what many people would want to wear in the heat, something looser like this works well in slightly cooler weather.

If you’ve been inspired by this simple summer outfit but aren’t sure what shoes to wear, I’d recommend going for neutral trainers or flat sandals. Not only are they comfortable, but they have a relaxed quality that complements blue denim.

To make dungarees slightly smarter you could go for block heel sandals or ballet flats instead and swap a T-shirt like Clodagh McKenna’s for a long-sleeved blouse or shirt. Colourwise, anything would go with blue denim dungarees so you can go as neutral or vibrant as you like with your top and accessories.

The chef tends to prefer going for white tops with blue denim, including with these dungarees, as in July she wore the same Levi’s design with a white Henley button-up.

After weeks of wondering what to wear in the heat, these grey August days have many of us looking for more transitional seasonal pieces. It doesn’t come much more perfect for this than a classic trench coat which is a staple when you want an extra layer that isn’t too bulky.

Add in some comfy jeans and flat sandals and you’re good to go - as Clodagh McKenna just showed. The chef provides just as much fashion inspiration as she does foodie inspiration and for a trip back to her hometown of Cork in Ireland, she went for this simple style combination.

Her trench was on the longer side without being floor-sweeping and fell to her shins. It was single-breasted and had a neat collar and long sleeves which she ruched up to elbow-length.

This is why I would always go for a neutral shade when I’m shopping for trenches, as they don’t require careful consideration of what to wear them with to avoid colour clashes. The ITV star wore her coat unbuttoned for a less formal feel and this worked well with her outfit underneath.

In a video where she was discussing her upcoming appearance at the Cork on a Fork Festival, Clodagh gave us a glimpse of the rest of her look. It consisted of a blue and white striped shirt left untucked over a pair of straight leg jeans.

Denim trends come and go, but straight leg jeans have never really gone out of fashion and they’re a nice mid-point between comfy wide-leg styles and streamlined ones. A mid-blue wash like hers can also be dressed up or down depending on the occasion, as they’re not as formal as indigo jeans or as casual as light blue to start off with.

The smartness of the chef’s trench elevated her jeans into more of a smart-casual outfit and her footwear of choice helped with this too. Whilst I’m a big fan of the Birkenstock Arizonas for the summer months, they’re admittedly not the most elegant of shoes and simple slip-on flat sandals are a great alternative.

Clodagh McKenna’s sandals were a warm tan tone with a layered strap running across the top of her feet. Other than that, they were entirely plain - another clever move when you want to slip on your shoes in a rush and be confident they’ll always go with your outfit.

They didn’t exactly match her trench coat, but because they’re a similar colour palette the sandals went well with it. Had she needed a bag for this video, I would’ve expected her to have gone for a tan crossbody for practicality.

With her golden blonde hair swept back into a relaxed updo, Clodagh looked comfortable and put-together. This is an outfit that's easy to pass over in favour of bright colours and fun prints for summer, though it’s far more wearable day-to-day.

The good old jeans-and-a-nice-top combination is a failsafe for smart-casual outfits and Clodagh McKenna’s Bardot one is more than just "nice". The chef appeared on ITV’s This Morning on 16th June looking incredibly chic in a navy Paisie knitted piece.

This top comes in a pastel pink and tomato-red too, though the navy is perhaps the most versatile. The material is a stretchy viscose-nylon blend that’s streamlined without being tight.

Three-quarter length sleeves are a plus if you’re stuck on what to wear in the heat and don’t love spaghetti straps. They looked so elegant and rose up into the off-shoulder neckline which framed Clodagh’s decolletage and had delicate scalloping along the top.

As much as a simple straight Bardot neckline, this was something a little different and even more feminine. Off-shoulder designs naturally feel quite sophisticated and elevated - even when they’re made from a comfy knitted fabric like this one is.

That’s why I think they can be a gorgeous top option to dress up jeans. Minimal effort is required to achieve a stunning effect and the more neutral you go colour-wise, the better.

When you’re styling a more striking design, sticking to shades like black, white and navy balance it out. The Bardot neckline is named after Brigitte Bardot and it’s often associated with chic French styling which also favours pared-back colours.

I don’t generally pay too much attention to denim trends, but I was thrilled when wide-leg silhouettes surged in popularity. They’re just so easy to wear and don’t cling to your legs uncomfortably on a hot day.

The chef’s jeans look palazzo-style which makes them ultra wide-leg. She could easily have tucked her Bardot top into her jeans, however by leaving it draped over the top of the waistband she gave her outfit a more relaxed, effortless edge.

The wash contrasted against her dark top without being too stark like a pair of white jeans might have been. Clodagh’s heeled sandals from Sézane were a pretty tan colour with warm undertones that complemented her top and denim.

Sadly, the £185 Florence Sandals are almost entirely out of stock in the ‘natural heritage’ tone she’s wearing. If you prefer black sandals anyway then this colourway is still available right now. They have a high block heel, rubber outsole and leather upper, lining and insole.

To make an ensemble like Clodagh’s more on the low-key side of smart-casual you could opt for flat sandals instead. With wide-leg trousers her heels had a leg-elongating effect and she finished off her look by tying her blonde hair up in a ponytail with a navy, white and red scarf.

The neck scarf fashion trend is big right now and many scarves can also be worn as a hair accessory. The red, white and blue is a classic combination and one that accentuated the French feel of Clodagh McKenna’s off-shoulder top.

Having celebrated her 50th birthday in style on 10th May, Clodagh McKenna has spoken out about the pressures people often face when it comes to finding "the one". She met her own husband Harry Herbert, whose family owns Highclere Castle (the real-life Downton Abbey) in 2017 when she was 42 and the couple married four years later at this historic home.

Their romance sounds like something out of a fairytale, and Clodagh has told the Irish Independent how important she thinks it is for people not to feel they have to get married by a specific point in their lives.

"There's so much pressure to get married at a certain age and do the things that everybody else does," she said. "And I think that it is important to write your own story because everybody's story is different."

Although it can sometimes feel like there’s a timescale of expectation when it comes to "settling-down" this isn’t something Clodagh subscribes to. Instead, she expressed the very relatable view that no matter what path your life takes, you deserve to be fully accepted.

The chef continued, "Everybody should just be accepted for their own journey and not feel pressured, because when you feel pressured, that's when you make the wrong decision."

Ultimately, when and, just as importantly, if you find someone you want to tie the knot with, this isn’t something that external pressures should influence. Sometimes closing your ears to these external factors can be tricky.

Clodagh revealed that she remembers to check in with herself to make sure that the decisions she’s making and things she’s doing are completely right for her. Really knowing yourself as a person helps when it comes to feeling content with your choices.

"I'm really comfortable with who I am and my upbringing, and I'm really proud of it. When you decide to go on your own path...I always check myself and that I'm doing what I want to do for my life. And I think that when you do that, and you know who you are as a person, that's a lovely place to be," she explained.

Clodagh McKenna met her now-husband Harry through mutual friends at a lunch - something he reportedly later described as a "sliding doors moment". She had previously been in a long-term relationship and he was separated from his wife of 25 years.

Harry proposed to Clodagh in 2020 on an autumn walk and, as per the Daily Mail, she "immediately" accepted.

"He seemed very nervous,’ she said. "I was thinking, ‘Oh Jesus, is there something wrong?’ Then we were out in the woods and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was so lovely. I said yes immediately. I never thought I would get married, but I did."

In August the couple will celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary and Harry had a special role at his wife’s 50th birthday party. Posting on Instagram, Clodagh revealed he accompanied her friend and singer Imelda May on the piano.

This was a "dream" for Clodagh, who described Harry as her "everything". She’s living proof that forging your own path and avoiding pressures can lead to immense happiness.

The chef recently shared a video featuring three different ensembles styled by Dannii Whiteman. The first was an all high street look that featured stripes, tailored trousers and a pop of red in the form of a fun neck scarf.

Bardot tops feel very spring/summer too because of the shoulder-baring shape and they work so well with trousers and jeans for a smart-casual outfit. Clodagh McKenna’s H&M top felt especially French because of the navy and blue Breton stripes and if you’re not a fan of off-shoulder pieces, opting for a simple striped T-shirt would give a similar effect.

The chef went for navy blue ME+EM wool trousers to tie in with the rest of her outfit. They are selling out fast but are still in stock in a few sizes and have crisp structured pleats and a wide-leg silhouette.

Tailoring is another key element of French styling and we love the contrast of the loose but smart trousers against the fitted, casual top. When we wear wide-leg trousers or jeans we often go for a streamlined top like this as it balances out your frame.

On its own Clodagh’s April ensemble would have been stunning, but her red neck scarf made it really stand out. When it comes to spring accessorising we often only think of shoes, bags and belts, but scarves aren’t just for winter.

Something more lightweight like a bandana, cotton or silk scarf can be tied neatly around your neck or over your hair to bring some extra colour or pattern into your look. Clodagh’s neckerchief was from high street giant Free People and the neck scarf fashion trend is huge for 2025.

The bright red hue was eye-catching and French style often incorporates red with neutral tones, whether with accessories or lipstick. Add to this that blue, white and red are the colours on the country’s flag and this accessory suddenly feels especially appropriate.

Clodagh McKenna finished off her outfit with a pair of white plimsoll pumps from The White Company and wore her blonde hair in a relaxed ponytail. She looked so chic and this is a style we hope we’ll see her wear again this spring.

Already the chef has re-worn her olive green Zara trousers from the third outfit in her Instagram video on This Morning. So it would make sense that this is only the first time we’ll see her neck scarf, Breton top and trousers this season too.
