Humans of New York is one of our favourite blogs. The idea is simple – Brandon, the photographer and writer behind the blog, shares short stories and quotes from the people he meets on the streets of Manhattan. Many are heartwarming or heart wrenching, but a photo this weekend prompted an outpouring of emotion.
This photograph of a young gay boy appeared on the blog’s Faceboook page with the caption: ‘I’m homosexual and I’m afraid about what my future will be and that people won’t like me.’
Instantly readers shared supportive, positive messages, including Ellen DeGeneres who posted: ‘Not only will people like you, they’ll love you. I’ve just heard of you and I love you already.’
And presidential hopeful, Hilary Clinton who wrote: ‘Prediction from a grown-up: Your future is going to be amazing. You will surprise yourself with what you’re capable of and the incredible things you go on to do. Find the people who love and believe in you – there will be lots of them.’
