ITV show This Morning will play host to a royal couple next week – and we’re pretty excited!
Hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield revealed the exciting news on Thursday’s episode of the show, and were met with a thrilled reaction from viewers.
Yes, Prince Charles and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall will be gracing the show with their presence on Wednesday 31st January, to mark the hit programme’s 30th anniversary, and as part of the Prince’s role as patron of the Royal Television Society.
Holly shared, “We are very proud and honoured to say that next Wednesday we will be joined by their royal highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall as This Morning celebrates its 30th anniversary.”
Phillip also explained more about their visit, saying “Charles and Camilla will discover more about This Morning‘s successful campaigns and meet other members of the ITV Daytime family as the couple mark the 90th birthday of the Royal Television Society, of which Prince Charles is a patron.
“We’re also going to be asking them to sign – we’ve never done this before – our first visitors’ book, which is going to be filled with pictures and messages from all our guests. We’re going to take piccies on this camera, polaroid, old school.”
Holly explained, “This book will then be given away in October during our special week of anniversary celebrations. So that is going to be a special book.”
It’s not clear whether the royal couple will be actually interviewed by presenters Holly and Phil, nor if such an interview would be pre-recorded, or whether they’ll simply enjoy a tour of the legendary studio.
Fans were pretty excited to hear the news of the royal visit to the popular daytime show, with one writing “How exciting, those two are lovely”
Another viewer also wrote “Ooooooooooh EXCITING!!!!”
Some viewers also asked whether hilarious host Alison Hammond could take over the interview for Charles and Camilla’s visit, making reference to her failed attempts to interview Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during their visit to Nottingham last year.
One fan wrote, ‘Please have your royal correspondent @AlisonHammond2 on hand for this big day!! How amazing that would be if she met them!!’
This is an episode we’ll definitely be tuning in to.
