Paying tribute to the TV star whose brave story has left the nation touched...
We were extremely saddened to hear of the passing of TV star Lynda Bellingham this morning.
Lynda was diagnosed with colon cancer in July 2013, and the nation was touched last month when she announced that she was planning to end her treatment, to limit her family’s suffering.
Best known as the ‘Oxo Mum’, Lynda first burst onto our TV screens in the 1970s as a nurse on ‘General Hospital’. She has since gone on to light up both stage and screen, and was a much-loved panellist on ‘Loose Women’.

A great friend of woman&home, Lynda was interviewed about turning 60 for the November 2009 issue, and her infectious attitude and good humour shone through in her answers. She was just as candid in her recent final TV appearance on ‘Loose Women’. When asked how she’d like to be remembered, she said: ‘Just as an honest person. We’ve been through this as ‘Loose Women’ – you can’t do ‘Loose Women’ unless you’re honest.’
