Michelle went on to say that although the royal family may have rifts, they are most importantly a family rather than an institution. “This first and foremost is a family and I pray for forgiveness and healing for them so they can use this as a teachable moment for us all.”

Similarly, in an interview with Mario Lopez for Access Hollywood, the former FLOTUS spoke about her new Netflix series Waffles and Mochi and also mentioned Meghan and Harry’s rift with the royal family.

Michelle said, “My hope is that, when I think about what they’re going through, I think about the importance of family and I just pray that there is forgiveness and there is clarity and love and resolve at some point in time.” She continued to say, “Because there’s nothing more important than family.”

“Motherhood has taught me that, most of the time, my job is to give them the space to explore and develop into the people they want to be. Not who I want them to be or who I wish I was at that age, but who they are, deep inside,” said Michelle.
