Trampolining is taking the UK by storm, and for good reason - it's one of the best high intensity, low-impact workouts around. In fact, according to NASA, bouncing is "the most efficient and effective exercise yet devised by man". It's 68% more effective than jogging and, by our reckoning, 100% more fun.
Boogie Bounce is a mini trampoline based exercise programme which promises to burn fat and tone bums, tums, thighs and even faces. The 45 minute class combines interval training principles with motivating music for a "fab, fun, funky and fat burning" workout you can take at your own pace. Find a class at boogiebounce.com.
If normal yoga doesn't do it for you, try turning it on its head. Aerial or anti-gravity yoga uses suspended silk slings or "hammocks" to support you as you stretch, bend and swing into positions you'd never have imagined possible. It's great for balance, flexibility, mobility and relaxation, and will help you build some serious core and upper body strength. Inversions are also said to have anti-ageing benefits... Find a class at Gym Box or Virgin Active.
If you've heard of parkour, also known as freerunning, you'll probably associate it with the likes of James Bond and Jason Bourne leaping between burning roofs and moving trains - not something you could possibly do in a million years, surely? Think again. A growing number of adult beginners are learning the art, which some describe as "relearning how children naturally move through their environment". If taking it outside is too scary, many trampolining parks run courses for adult beginners. Try Oxygen Free Jumping or Flip Out.
Rock chick at heart? Try Pound, a new 45 minute class described as a "full-body cardio jam session" which fuses cardio, Pilates and plyometric movements with constant simulated drumming - and yes, you do get fluorescent drum sticks! Find your nearest class at gymbox.com.
Ready to burn fat and work that core? Floatfit is a 30 minute high intensity interval training workout? - on water. You'll do burpees, lunges, squats and stretches - all on a floating board. Find a class at aquaphysical.com. You're advised to wear normal gym gear that you don't mind getting wet...
Not ready to leave the comfort of your cosy living room just yet? Enter Hoolio. What is it? Think Netflix for fitness. Hoolio is a newly launched fitness streaming service which collects the best fitness videos on the internet in one place. Categories range from tough (HIIT) to relaxing (yoga), and you can even train with celebrity trainers.
Hoolio works on all devices and allows you to share videos and work out with friends all over the world.
We all need a little encouragement during these dark months. The Yaye app, free on Android and iOS, provides just that. Form a group with friends and set yourselves a goal, say, "Work out three times a week." Whenever a group member does something towards that goal, they share an image with the group. No more excuses!
The trouble with online classes? No instructor to correct your technique. Thanks to PRIVATEbarre, you can have one-to-one barrecore lessons with a trainer from the comfort of your own home. Barrecore combines elements of ballet, Pilates and yoga. It's brilliant for toning and building core strength.
Missing your weekly Strictly Come Dancing fix? Try a DDMIX (Diverse Dance Mix) class, co-created by Strictly judge Darcey Bussell. Classes combine moves from 26 dance styles, ranging from Irish to Hand Jive, via Line Dance, Arabic, Chinese, Charleston and Voguing, for a full body workout which is "such fun that you don't even notice that you are exercising". Find a class on the DDMIX website.
The cult Latin dance workout - with a twist! The high energy routines you know and love (or not) are performed in the pool rather than the studio, adding resistance whilst taking the strain off muscles and joints. Find a class at Virgin Active.
Research suggests that trainer-free workouts strengthen feet, help to alleviate joint and muscle problems and can even make you feel more mentally grounded. Give Virgin Active's WillPower Method class a go.
Zumba fans will love this one! Booiaka (pronounced boo-ya-ka) is a dance workout created by Italian choreographer, Tatiana Tamai (pictured). Her easy to follow dance routines fuse Brazilian, hip-hop and Latin moves. Learn the signature Booiaka booty-shake and burn 700 calories in one session! Find your local class here.
With chiropractors hailing crawling "the new plank" and suggesting that getting in touch with our "wild" side could not only improve our core strength but ease back problems and undo a lifetime of postural bad habits, it looks like the perfect time to try ZUU...
Oh, and you'll also burn up to 600 calories in 30 minutes... Find your nearest class at Virgin Active.
