Maxi dresses and florals might be go-tos when it comes to summer eveningwear, but darker hues and bolder block colours still have their place in seasonal attire - and they can look especially glamorous when styled together at this time of year.

It’s a fact that Pippa Middleton proved to us over a decade ago now, as she stepped out for the Boxing Ball at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London in 2013. Styling a burnt orange, pleated maxi skirt with a simple black halterneck top, she perfectly balanced sophistication with fun and colour, creating an outfit that truly stands the test of time.

A maxi skirt and ‘nice top’ like Pippa’s make for a failsafe combination when it comes to summer eveningwear because, as well as being effortlessly glamorous, it’s a blend that promises to keep you cool in the summer heat. Especially if you opt for a statement skirt as Pippa did, the resulting outfit is one that needs very little accessorising. That's always a bonus when we’re a little flustered by the humidity, can’t spare too much energy on getting ready and are struggling with what to wear in the heat. Just a simple pair of peep-toe heels, a black clutch and a waist belt were all Pippa needed to pull together her outfit and look perfectly polished.

The sun is out and we're all wondering what to wear in this heat that will help us keep cool as well as looking elegant. Lightweight, flowy dresses that skim your silhouette are perfect and this style is also the go-to for many famous faces in summer.

This includes Pippa Middleton and although she's rarely seen in public nowadays she used to be spotted a lot in the summer and her ravishing red midi dress is still one of my favourites. She wore the Ralph Lauren piece to the French Open in 2018 and we know this style works for hot weather as was very sunny at the tennis that day.

When she's not wearing neutrals Pippa often styles bright red and her frock was a vibrant scarlet with a delicate white nautical print of compasses, ships and fish. Red is so bold that having a neutral mixed in with it can help mellow things and also allows the pattern to really stand out.

The Ralph Lauren dress fell to midi-length, providing a lovely amount of leg coverage whilst still being very floaty and breezy for the heat. The short sleeves were also flowy and the bodice had an adjustable wrap design that accentuated the V-neckline.

Versatile dresses like Pippa's are perfect for a summer capsule wardrobe as you can imagine her wearing this with heels to a wedding, as well as to the tennis or day-to-day. The white print made accessorising very easy, as white bags and shoes would tie in effortlessly and look polished.

Her shoes were classic ivory wedges and although she and Kate love wearing British clothing brands a lot, they make an exception with espadrilles. Castañer is their favourite place to shop for them and Pippa Middleton stepped out in the lace-up Carina shoes at the French Open.

Wedges give you a bit more stability than you typically get from stilettos and are easier to walk in on grass too, which is a bonus for a season full of outdoor events. They're a style step up from your favourite white trainers without compromising on comfort.

The woven jute soles coordinated with Pippa's raffia crossbody bag and these textures always bring an extra summery edge. Crossbody bags are also so useful as they leave you hands-free and they can be used to make a more elevated ensemble feel a bit more relaxed.

In contrast, clutches and top handle bags are naturally more structured and formal. Pippa struck a great smart-casual balance in Paris and she finished off her look with black Ray-Ban sunglasses and a white and red fedora hat to protect her from the sun.

On a cooler day you could layer a white cardigan or blazer over the top of an outfit like hers but right now this is definitely not necessary! It clearly wasn't in 2018 either but the future Queen's sister looked chic and comfortable as she enjoyed watching the tennis with her husband James.

Whether you're preparing to jet off somewhere sunny, excitedly checking the forecast hoping for more sun at home or have a wedding coming up, Pippa Middleton's Lake Como style might just tempt you to embrace a pop of colour for summer. She often sticks to neutrals but went all out in a hibiscus-red maxi dress from high-street favourite Phase Eight in September 2023.

The exact Donatella dress is still available (just!) in one size now and the colour and the length made this a show-stopping summer wedding guest dress for Pippa. Bright red is a huge fashion colour trend for 2026 and it makes a statement but isn't as tricky to style as you might think.

Red looks great with other primary colours as well as monochrome tones and metallics. If you're going to an event or heading out for dinner on holiday, a red dress will do all the talking so you can go as simple as you like with everything else.

The Phase Eight dress worn by Pippa in Italy features feminine ruffles on the sleeves and on the skirt. Apart from this, the silhouette is completely classic and the maxi length of the Donatella design naturally makes it feel more formal.

Going for something which covers the shoulders is also great if you're not so confident baring the tops of your arms or want to shield them from scorching sunshine at home or abroad. The Princess of Wales's sister accessorised with a dainty gold necklace, fun beaded earrings and an Elizabeth Sutton acrylic clutch decorated with waves.

We couldn't see her shoes thanks to that fabulous long frock, though she might well have leaned into the holiday theme and gone for espadrille wedges, which we know she loves. I personally like maxis for their shoe-shielding effect, as it means you could wear something casual like white trainers with them and no-one would ever know.

Longer dresses are also incredibly elegant and floaty shapes and fabrics are ideal for wearing in the heat. To make a dress like Pippa Middleton's slightly more relaxed, go for raffia accessories and sandals over heels and a clutch bag.

You can also take inspiration from her Lake Como look in a slightly different way and incorporate smaller amounts of red into your outfits.

Alternatively, colour block with contrasting hues like pink or green to make a red dress even more fun and fabulous. Pippa's approach was more minimal for her friends' wedding, though the earrings and her clutch were both a little more playful than we often see from her.

Perhaps, like so many of us, she loves having the chance to go bolder and brighter with her styling to complement the sunny weather when she travels abroad.

After a week of sunshine that felt like summer had truly arrived, we now have to think about what to wear when the temperatures aren't as high. Cooler days are on the way but it's by no means cold and if you're looking for something with a bit more coverage then Pippa Middleton has proved a jumpsuit works just as well as a dress.

The best jumpsuits make you feel just as fabulous as a frock and Pippa wore a stunning Claire Mischevani design to Wimbledon in 2024. The brand's Mimi jumpsuit is full-length and has a frilled collar and delicate buttons down the front.

The sleeves fall to just above the elbow and the elastic gives them a gorgeous puffed shape. Three-quarter length or short sleeves aren't going to be uncomfortably hot and are great when the weather cools down in the evenings or if there's a chilly breeze.

Pippa's jumpsuit design also looks almost like a co-ord at first, as the bodice is streamlined but not totally fitted and has a drape to it like it's loosely tucked into trousers. A flowy shape like this is perfect for sunny days and it's complemented by the wide-leg cut.

Although we've seen Pippa wear bold colours a lot in the past, she loves dressing a little more understated nowadays and this design reflects that. Her jumpsuit was a duck egg blue with muted pink, orange and golden blooms running all over it.

Delicate pastel tones balance out a statement pattern, keeping everything soft and sophisticated. The Princess of Wales's sister chose neutral accessories to accentuate this feel. Her tan peep-toe wedges were just visible and she carried a J Crew rattan clutch. Raffia and espadrilles are always popular this time of year and bring beachiness to an ensemble.

Pippa's outfit would be perfect as an alternative to a summer wedding guest dress but a jumpsuit can be dressed down too. You might think that a full-length style like this would be too formal to go with flat sandals or white trainers, though if you pick floaty silhouettes and materials the overall jumpsuit design is relaxed enough to work with them.

Structured, tailored jumpsuits might look like too much of a contrast, so something with a shape like Pippa's is a great option if you want to be able to wear your item for special occasions as well as day-to-day. Breezy shapes are also naturally summery and Pippa Middleton was at Wimbledon on a sunny July day.

As much as we all love her dresses, including the pink floral one she wore a few days later to the Wimbledon final, this jumpsuit was something a little different. Jumpsuits are just a bit more contemporary and they're still an all-in-one outfit which makes them fuss-free when you don't want to take an age getting ready.

If you're not such a fan of printed designs as Pippa then go for something plain, either in a neutral shade or a colour you already wear a lot so you know you'll be able to get plenty of use out of your jumpsuit throughout the season.

The unpredictability of spring weather can make outfit picking tricky but Pippa Middleton's combination of a long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans is a simple option that'll work for almost anything. She was pictured wearing these pieces in 2011 and it's a sign of just how timeless her clothes were that they'd be just as chic for 2026.

Most of us will already have a plain shirt in our spring capsule wardrobe and they're ultra versatile, though Pippa's was leopard print and this is a gorgeous alternative. A patterned shirt just feels a little more elevated and like you've put loads of effort into your ensemble when it's actually so comfy and quick to style.

Leopard print might seem quite statement at first, but the brown and tan tones balance things and because the shades are usually so neutral, you can wear a top like Pippa's with plenty of different trouser or skirt options.

Pippa's shirt was from French Connection and had cuffed sleeves and a tie-up pussy-bow detail. This neckline is one of the Princess of Wales's favourites too, and it has a polished, feminine feel that contrasts beautifully against denim.

Pippa Middleton left her shirt draped over the top of her blue straight-leg jeans and although she's partial to skinny designs, this pair had a streamlined shape without being as uncomfy and tight as skinny jeans can be.

Slim and cigarette-cut jeans are a big denim trend for 2026 and they create a leg-elongating effect on your frame thanks to their sleek silhouette. You could accentuate this even more by smoothly tucking in your shirts, though Pippa's approach is more relaxed.

She went for a mid-blue wash which I think is the most handy to have in your collection, as it's not quite as smart as indigo nor as casual as pale denim. That makes dressing them up or down far easier and the Princess of Wales's sister struck a good balance for this workday look. She carried a laptop case and a slouchy canvas bag, whilst her shoes were flats by French Sole.

These were made from a metallic gold leather that complemented the warm undertones of her leopard print shirt, though to make this outfit more understated you could go for your best white trainers or suede loafers instead. There are also so many ways to switch-up Pippa Middleton's leopard print shirt and jeans combination to suit different spring weathers too.

When it's colder, a classic beige trench and a knit would work so well over the top and on sunny days you can roll up the sleeves and bring out your sandals. Having adaptable outfit formulas like this at your fingertips can be so helpful and Pippa was often seen in shirts and streamlined jeans back in the day.

In recent years we haven't seen her out and about quite as much, and when she is photographed in public it's usually at Wimbledon now. In 2024 she joined the Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte in the Royal Box wearing a fun floral dress, though when she's at home in Berkshire I wouldn't be surprised if she still relies on jeans and shirts.

The Princess of Wales title had gone unused for decades by the time she took it on in 2022 and behind closed doors, Kate is said to have had reservations about receiving it. The title is traditionally held by the wife of the heir to the throne and the late Princess Diana was the last royal woman to use it before her daughter-in-law.

Queen Camilla chose not to go by this out of respect for Diana and in his book, William & Catherine, Russell Myers writes that Kate was "conscious" of the associations too.

"Courtiers said that while Catherine had a full appreciation of the history associated with the role, she was determined to find her own path," royal editor and author Myers alleges. "But Catherine had also privately expressed to William and to Charles her reservations about taking over the title, conscious of the British public’s exceptional feeling for, and connection to, Princess Diana even 25 years after her death."

For many people, Diana was synonymous with the title and this was cemented when it remained unused by Camilla. In the soon-to-be-released biography a former senior aide to William and Kate stated that the current Princess of Wales has "benevolent intentions" but "wishes to carve out her own role for both herself and her family".

According to the former aide, Kate took a "bit of convincing" to take on her late mother-in-law’s title but when she was persuaded, her approach was clear: do things her way as Princess of Wales whilst being respectful of the past.

They claimed, "She felt that while there would be inevitable comparisons with Diana, she could manage it in her own way while having full respect for the way Diana carved out a very different role for herself within the Royal Family."

Prince William always envisioned her doing this and he revealed it during the couple’s engagement interview. Interviewer Tom Bradby questioned if Kate found the prospect of filling Princess Diana’s shoes one day as Princess of Wales "intimidating".

"Well, obviously I would love to have met her," Kate responded. "And she’s… obviously, she’s an inspirational woman to look up to."

Prince William then kindly jumped in, saying, "There’s no pressure though. There’s no pressure because, like Kate said, it’s about carving your own future. No one’s going to try and fill my mother’s shoes and what she did is fantastic."

"It’s about making your own future and your own destiny and Kate will do a very good job of that," he added admiringly.

Twelve years later she took on the title when Prince William became Prince of Wales following the accession of King Charles. Her husband has been there to support her all the way and when Kate was told in June 2022 that she’d make a "brilliant Princess of Wales" she indicated to William and said, "I’m in good hands."

She’s already made the role her own in many ways, including with her focus on early childhood development. Princess Diana was famously dubbed the People’s Princess and Kate’s ongoing work has already earned her the similar, but distinct, moniker of Children’s Princess amongst fans.

Pippa Middleton’s days of attending London Fashion Week are behind her, but the navy trench she wore to Issa’s 2010 show remains as stunning as ever. She had a front-row seat to see the Brazilian brand’s Autumn/Winter collection and this belted coat was the main focus of her elegant outfit.

If you’ve been umming and ahhing over whether or not to invest in one of the best trench coats for your spring capsule wardrobe, this ensemble is proof of how timeless they are. Pippa might not style her navy coat in quite the same way now as she did back then, but the piece itself wouldn’t look out of place in 2026.

Her trench was double-breasted, with a notched lapel collar, neat cuffs and a matching belt. Belted designs accentuate the waist and give more definition, which works especially well if you’re styling a trench coat with dresses or skirts that flare out.

The Princess of Wales and her sister are much more into midis these days, but back then Pippa loved knee-length hemlines and she went for a trench that was slightly shorter to coordinate with this. The beauty of a trench coat over other outerwear like denim jackets and blazers is that they go with everything, though I think they can be especially flattering if you stick to lengths that go with your most-worn pieces.

If you love midis then a longer trench will mirror the shape and be very leg-elongating, whilst shorter trenches look great with shorter skirts and dresses as they don’t cut off at an inconvenient point. Of course, jeans and trousers go with any length of trench universally and are another brilliant and easy option.

Another way to ensure you get maximum wear out of your trench coats is sticking to neutral colours. Beige and black are always popular and Pippa Middleton’s navy option is also very versatile whilst being a little bit different.

As we move into spring and start to gravitate towards lighter spring/summer fashion colour trends, navy is a lovely alternative to black that isn’t as much of a stark contrast. As the first London Fashion Week of the year always takes place in February, the Princess of Wales’s sister stuck to a darker colour palette with her ensemble.

She wore a simple black roll neck jumper with a navy satin skirt and black knee-high boots. Her footwear had a rounded toe and block heel for comfort and tied in with her knitwear, tying the whole look navy and black together.

The mix of different textures also brought added dimension to Pippa’s outfit, as there was the softness of her jumper, the sheen of the skirt and suede boots. When you’re wearing a lot of layers in winter and early spring, this is a clever approach to take.

Pippa Middleton finished things off at LFW with a roomy black handbag and left her brunette hair loose. Her public appearances have been few and far between in recent years, and when she has stepped out it’s usually been either in the depths or winter or high summer when a trench coat wasn’t required. Even so, I suspect that this is one classic item she still owns - whether or not this exact navy one remains in her collection.

The Princess of Wales' sister, Pippa Middleton offered the ultimate coat inspiration back in 2018 when she wore this check coat from Alexa Chung's collection on repeat - and it's no exaggeration to say I'm still thinking about it.

The double-breasted cut and longline design feel really smart, and would work over everything from leggings to a tailored trouser suit. I love the little flash of yellow running through Pippa's style too, which was, of course, also Alexa Chung's go-to coat when it first came out.

I spoke to woman&home's Royal Editor Emma Shacklock about this outfit, as she's an expert in both Kate and Pippa's wardrobes. She said: "Pippa Middleton’s style can easily be overlooked compared to her sister Catherine’s, but it’s equally timeless and - back in the day especially - easy to replicate.

"This checked coat was beautifully structured with the lapels and double-breasted cut. The pattern feels very traditional, and I’m not surprised that this coat was a longer length. Maxi or midi coats are still staples in Pippa’s wardrobe and are a clever choice too, providing plenty of coverage.

"I can easily imagine her wearing this coat nowadays, but I suspect she might swap the trendy studded boots for something sleeker and simpler."

Anyone who loves admiring royal fashion is in for a treat this month as the countdown to Christmas means plenty of appearances - including at the Princess of Wales’s Together at Christmas carol service. It’s being filmed at Westminster Abbey on 5th December and usually has a big turn-out of royals, as well as of Catherine’s own family.

Her parents and sister Pippa have never missed the event and they go as all-out as the Royal Family with their festive outfits. Pippa’s look from last year is still one of my top outfits since Together at Christmas was first held in 2021 - and it’s subtly seasonal.

She stepped out for the service wearing British clothing brands head-to-toe, opting for a Karen Millen dress and Emmy London accessories. Guests usually wear smart coats, but she went without and let the shimmering black boucle frock do all the talking.

The metallic thread ran through the woven material, catching the light without being in-your-face sparkly at such a meaningful occasion. If you’re ever unsure how to wear metallics or embellished or glittering items, styling them with black or other dark neutrals like grey or navy helps to balance them out.

They tone things down, creating a sophisticated finish. Pippa Middleton’s dress also had plenty of texture to soften the sparkles and boucle fabric naturally feels traditional and wintery. This suits the festive season perfectly and her red accessories also nodded to the time of year without screaming "Christmas" so much they’d be difficult to wear outside December.

She carried one of Kate’s best handbag styles - the Emmy London Natasha clutch - and coordinated this with her red velvet Emmy London Claudia shoes. Like boucle, velvet is a fabric that always surges in popularity in the colder months.

Incorporating so much texture into her outfit was a clever move from Pippa, as it gave it dimension and contrast. This is especially important if you’re wearing one colour where the pieces could start to blend into one, but it also lifts other minimal looks.

The Princess of Wales’s sister didn’t overdo things with 2024’s Together at Christmas ensemble and I love how pared-back yet bold it was. The sparkly boucle and red velvet complemented each other and she took a few more fashion risks with this look than she has in the past when she’s worn simple tailored coats and tall boots.

These items are all staples in a winter capsule wardrobe, though having a few more stand-out pieces and accessories you can re-wear every party season is a good idea too. Even if you’re not sold on the sparkly boucle, you can take inspiration from Pippa in smaller ways.

A boucle jacket would work well with trousers and a jumper, or you could make a boucle dress a little more casual with flat knee-high boots. Red accessories can also look lovely with so many different outfits and add a pop of festive colour to a monochrome look.

It’ll be interesting to see if Pippa Middleton brings out her velvet Emmy London pieces at this year’s carol service, as she’s sure to attend once again to support Catherine. She’s sadly never re-worn the same Together at Christmas clothing and I’ll be keeping an eye out to see if Pippa’s new outfit surpasses my love of this 2024 one.

Suede jackets are definitely the season’s biggest outerwear trend and they make such a chic addition to an autumn outfit. However, they’re not the most practical and when it gets colder there’s another jacket style that will soon take over as my go-to.

Aviator jackets are a classic option and their borg or faux fur linings make them extra cosy for late autumn and early winter. This style has got some famous fans too, including Pippa Middleton. The Princess of Wales’s sister has quite the collection of jackets and coats and her Sandro aviator from 2012 remains one of my favourites.

It wouldn’t look out of place in 2025 thanks to its timeless design which included a buckled belt and lapel collar. Pippa wore this for a day out in London in December with skinny jeans and wedge trainers and it was fastened almost to the top with the glinting silver zip.

Complete Your Autumn Look

The top part of the collar was a fluffy material which contrasted against the smooth leather the rest of it was made of. Textural contrast is key to giving a single-tone design or outfit more definition and Pippa’s jacket delivered this beyond doubt.

Though not quite as popular as suede right now, aviator leather jackets are a big coat trend for 2025 and you can style them in many different ways. Pippa’s was a softer, woven material which is less practical for rainy weather but exudes cosiness.

Ultimately, it’s up to you which detail is more important and whichever material you go for, treat it as you would any neutral coat or jacket. Just as you might style jeans and a blazer together to create a smart-casual outfit, an aviator and jeans is a great combination that feels slightly edgier.

Like Kate, Pippa Middleton has loved skinny jeans for decades and in 2012 she wore a pair of mid-blue ones with her jacket and a lightweight black jumper. The streamlined shape of the jeans balanced the silhouette of the bulkier aviator, though wide-leg styles would be great for a relaxed look and flares are another lovely alternative.

Pippa tucked her jeans into the top of her Sandro trainers and their sporty flair tied in with her jacket. She finished off her London look with the black and tan Givenchy Amazona bag she loved back in the day and big Givenchy sunglasses.

With a few subtle updates - perhaps black ankle boots or flat trainers and a neat shoulder bag instead - I can imagine her recreating this look now. Aviators lend themselves to day-to-day outfits like this one but that doesn’t have to be the case.

If you’ve always been drawn to the style and aren’t sure how much wear you’d get out of it, you can take an aviator jacket like Pippa Middleton’s more evening-appropriate too. Instead of jeans and a jumper, you can make it into a date night outfit by wearing your jacket over a knitted dress or with tailored trousers and a shirt.

Darker colours like black, charcoal and deep brown tend to feel naturally a bit smarter so go for these if you want to maximise your outfit pairing options.

What do you wear when you want to feel comfortable and cosy, but still feel elegant? For me it doesn’t come much easier than a jumper dress and knee highs when I want to tick these boxes and the royals are on board with this combination too.

Just as suede jackets are having a resurgence right now, so are suede boots and both the Princess of Wales and her sister Pippa Middleton have been fans of them for years. They used to be pretty much all we saw Pippa wearing from autumn to spring back in the day and her tan knee highs from 2011 wouldn’t look out of place today.

Neither would her biscotti-toned jumper dress from high street favourite, French Connection. With a few subtle styling changes, I can imagine her wearing this kind of ensemble in 2025 and it’s well worth taking a trip down memory lane to get some autumn outfit ideas from her.

In November 2011 the future Queen’s sister was photographed out and about in Kensington wearing a knitted mini dress with a suede belt to cinch in the waist and matching tan boots. The best thing about a jumper dress is that they’re very often stretchy so you can walk around in comfort whilst looking like you’ve put in loads of time and effort into getting ready.

A knitted frock with a more fitted silhouette is especially elegant and would work as a date night outfit as well as for the daytime because they have a more formal edge. Alternatively, you can go for a looser, chunkier jumper dress for a more casual feel and simply by adding a belt like Pippa Middleton did, it becomes a bit smarter when you want it to be.

Another quick way to make an outfit look more polished is by introducing some coordination. Pippa, Kate and their mum Carole all love matching their shoes to their handbags or outfits.

In this case, Pippa’s belt and knee high boots were very similar and the tan tone was a soft contrast against her dress. Knee High boots are some of my favourite styles of footwear as they’re warm thanks to covering most of your leg in fabric, and can be very leg-elongating.

The best knee highs can range from being high heeled to flat whilst still feeling sleek and Pippa Middleton’s boots had a low block heel and a slightly slouchy shape. She wore them a lot at one point in her life and although I have no way of knowing if she still has them in her collection, design-wise they’re so timeless they’d work well today.

To give this look a 2025 update I would imagine Pippa going for a midi over a mini dress and this is a great way to enhance the leg-lengthening effect of knee highs.

Having the hem of a frock or skirt draping over the top of your boots without any gapping looks stunning and it’s how the Princess of Wales tends to wear her own knee highs. Her sister’s choice to stick to a neutral colour palette in 2011 was another clever time-defying move.

Neutrals will never go out of style and are worth investing in over brighter shades if you want to get maximum wear for your money. Pippa’s look blended different shades of camel and brown together to give it depth and the addition of a longline coat would have made the perfect finishing touch on a colder day.

Over the years we’ve heard the Princess of Wales and her siblings speak out about their idyllic childhood in Berkshire and the supportive roles their parents played. In 2020, Kate explained that they came to "every sports match" to cheer them on and took them on family holidays.

Meanwhile, James has credited Carole and Michael with bringing them up "knowing that you can’t take family for granted". Pippa has also discussed their childhoods before and in her first major interview ever in 2016 she disclosed the strict rule that was a valuable lesson.

Chatting with the Daily Mail, the Princess of Wales’s sister explained that they were "taught to eat properly" and ate together as a family three times a day at home. There was no children’s food either - whatever the adults cooked, that was what was on offer.

Pippa declared, "As children we didn't have anything different, we always ate what our parents ate. My mother and father took the view, and I agree, that you don't need to make different food for children. We had to eat everything on our plate and not be fussy about food."

Carole and Michael’s approach wasn’t always smooth-sailing, as Pippa revealed that there were occasions where she sat at the table for a while after meal times after not wanting to tuck into whatever dish was served. However, she soon learnt to like "everything".

"There were times when I would be sitting at the table after lunch or dinner, having not eaten something because I decided I didn't like it and actually remaining there until I had eaten it," she shared, adding laughingly, "'We had to stay at the table until we had eaten everything. There were no exceptions. And in the end I liked everything because I had to."

The Middletons were clearly no-nonsense about food in their house and Pippa’s remark that she agrees with it suggests that she appreciates this now. It’s possible that the mum-of-three might adopt this in her own household and she reflected on the “traditional” fare Carole used to make.

“She wouldn't spend hours in the kitchen because she was working, but it was always what I call proper stuff, home- cooked food and rarely any takeaways. Even from a very young age we had lots of traditional food like shepherd's pie, liver and mash with an onion gravy, kidneys and even mussels,” she said. “Good carbohydrate, protein and vegetables, really good for you and cheap as well. We had to eat the lot.”

With no fussiness allowed, Pippa learnt from a young age to like a lot of ingredients that some might consider grown-up for children - especially offal.

Her big sister Kate also spoke of her love for kidneys during a visit to the Oxford House Nursing Home in February 2023. When one of the residents, Nora, told the future Queen that her favourite foods were "kidneys and Brussels sprouts", the royal is understood to have responded, "Oh, kidneys! I love kidneys too!"

Salty savoury ingredients are some of Pippa’s favourites. In her interview she discussed her cook book, Heartfelt, whose profits went to The British Heart Foundation.

Although she said she regularly uses "ingredients like feta, anchovies and olives", they were ruled out for the recipes in the book because "though they add extra flavour, each introduces salt".

"Instead, I leaned more heavily on citrus and garlic, and spices that provide heat, such as chilli, and paprika," she declared.

The Princess of Wales's sister hasn't been in the spotlight much in recent years and we surely weren't the only ones surprised that she didn't even make an appearance at Wimbledon in July. However, alongside her work and schedule as a busy mum-of-three, Pippa has been more than a little busy behind the scenes.

According to the Daily Mail, Pippa and her husband James Matthews have allegedly been given the go-ahead on plans to open a nursery at Bucklebury Farm in Berkshire, which they own.

The farm, which sits on 72 acres of land the couple bought in 2020 for just over a reported $2M (£1.5M), is currently home to a 44-acre deer park, a café, a children’s play area, glamping stations, and a petting zoo.

It had previously been suggested that Pippa and James had faced initial criticism over their plans, with the local council allegedly worried about the potential rise in traffic. However, the Daily Mail's Richard Eden has now claimed that they've received the green light to go ahead and establish a nursery.

It will apparently deliver "strong social benefits" and it's said that the local shortage of "early years places" has been noted. When it might be ready to admit pupils remains to be seen, but as woman&home's Royal Editor Emma Shacklock notes, Pippa's new project is very much in-line with her sister's work.

"The Princess of Wales is a prominent advocate for Early Years education," she says. "It's one of her big focuses and she's keen to raise awareness of the impact that the first five years have upon a child's future. She will surely be proud of Pippa and pleased to know that there'll soon be another nursery space for local youngsters."

In 2021, the Princess of Wales founded the Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood, which aims to improve the living conditions of young children from birth to the age of five. The center has just released a new series of animations which were designed to be used by those who work with babies, children and families.

They explore how early brain development is influenced by the relationships which babies and young children experience everyday. As the centre and Princess of Wales declared in an Instagram post "the science is clear: little moments matter".

"Early childhood has been recognised as the golden opportunity to build strong foundations for future life, health and happiness", Kate said in a statement marking the launch of these seven new films. "[The films] showcase how adults can create nurturing, loving interactions with children, helping to foster social and emotional development during their earliest years."

Kensington Palace revealed that Kate had been very much involved in the development of the films, sharing behind-the-scenes images of her attending a creative briefing earlier in the summer. Pippa Middleton was likely very proud of Kate in turn and both are understood to have similar approaches to raising their children.

They've both spoken in the past about their idyllic childhood and how active they were as a family. Prince George, Charlotte and Louis share their passion for sports and Pippa has revealed in an interview with running brand Hoka, that she wants her children to enjoy sporting challenges with her in the future.

"One day, my dream would be to participate in a sporting challenge or epic adventure with my own children, like I was lucky enough to experience as a child," she said.

Pippa Middleton is just as much of a tennis fan as her sister the Princess of Wales, so I’m sure I wasn’t the only one surprised not to see her at this year’s Wimbledon Championships. Summer dresses are all well and good, but Pippa graced SW19 wearing a jumpsuit from Claire Mischevani with a rattan clutch and wedge sandals. This was my favourite of her 2024 Wimbledon looks and one I’d have loved to see her wear this July.

The best jumpsuits are every bit as elegant as frocks and feel more contemporary and cool for a wedding too. Pippa’s one had short sleeves and a frilled collar with buttons down the front.

This created the illusion of it being a shirt tucked into wide-leg trousers, with the added bonus of it being an all-in-one outfit. Not only does this make jumpsuits quicker to style than separates, but you also don’t have to worry about tucking in your top to create a seamless finish.

The beauty of a jumpsuit is this is done for you by the design itself. Pippa Middleton’s Mimi jumpsuit had soft pleats at the shoulders and was duck egg blue with olive green leaves and coral flowers all over it.

Claire Mischevani still makes this colourway and you can also get the Mimi in a top version too. It’s a rather luxurious piece as you might expect from one of the best British clothing brands, though there are plenty of beautiful floral jumpsuits around right now if you want to put your own twist on Pippa’s look for a wedding, party or date night.

Her failsafe special occasion formula was rounded off at Wimbledon with her J.Crew rattan clutch bag and her Castañer wedges. If you’ve ever wondered what wedges Kate wears, then Castañer is one of her go-to brands and Pippa shares her love of their designs.

She wore the Blaudell wedges to Wimbledon last summer and these have a double platform for extra elevation. The insole is cushioned for comfort and they are secured around your ankles with buckles rather than tie-ups.

The Princess of Wales’s sister has them in the deep tan colour and this softly contrasts against the woven jute sole. The jute was complemented by her rattan clutch and although hers is sold out now, summer is the best time to pick up such seasonal bags.

Woven, raffia and wicker accessories are everywhere in summer and whilst the material is more casual, Pippa’s clutch and wedges had smarter designs. This combination means that they’re easy to fit in with more formal outfits like her jumpsuit as well as relaxed ones.

Neutral woven wedges and bags are also incredibly versatile because of how wearable the colours are. With a more statement jumpsuit like Pippa’s, going for pared-back accessories works so well.

She might have worn this for a day at the tennis, but it's a fashion formula that would be so stunning for weddings for these reasons too. We can only hope that we get to see Pippa’s jumpsuit outfit re-worn at another event in the not-too-distant future.

The world of fashion seems to be revisiting a lot of the biggest trends from the 00s, as we have seen a resurgence of items like Sienna Miller's boho wide disc belt and low-rise jeans, but one that I hadn’t predicted to see back on my shopping radar was the colour block dress.

The bold contrast panelled dress was a huge look back in the day. In fact, I think we've all owned one at some point in our lives, right? When I think about the trend, I picture A-listers like Victoria Beckham in one of her own colour block designs while at Wimbledon back in 2014, and Pippa Middleton rocking a neon-toned dress by Paper London in New York back in 2012. Pippa’s bold look was one that I absolutely loved at the time, and her outfit makes for chic inspiration more than a decade later, as the trend is most definitely back.

There are plenty of colour blocking buys available, and lots of hues and style options to choose from, so you’re bound to find one that fits in with your summer capsule wardrobe. I've rounded up some of the best below.

Summer is the season of the LWD - Little White Dress - and it’s hard to argue with how versatile and easy-to-style they are for everything from family BBQs to date nights. A white dress is a staple for me too, though pastel tones make a refreshing change and can be very understated.

Pistachio green had a moment in the spotlight earlier this year and Pippa Middleton made peppermint look equally fabulous in 2017. If you’re ever in need of inspiration for what to wear to Wimbledon look no further than the Princess of Wales’s sister.

Sadly, this is currently sold out, though given how beautiful this hue is I’m hoping for a re-stock this summer. We rarely see Pippa baring her shoulders nowadays but this dress has delicate spaghetti straps and off-shoulder tie details.

The sweetheart neckline frames your decolletage and there is a discreet split in the front of the flared skirt for ease of movement. Pippa Middleton accessorised her summer dress with tortoiseshell sunglasses from Zanzan and a white flapover clutch.

Keeping her bag and shades neutral complemented the peppermint colour of her frock. This is such a soothing shade of green and is so subtle that it’s not too daunting to style - even if you’re usually a committed LWD dress-wearer.

When it comes to what colours suit you best, it depends on your colour season and those with spring colouring particularly suit pastels like sage and pistachio. However, ultimately what’s more important is how you feel wearing a particular colour and if you take Pippa’s approach, you can make a pale green dress even more low-key.

White sandals, espadrilles or heels would be ideal pairings with an outfit like hers and a matching handbag can give an extra sense of polish and cohesion. Metallics also look great as a contrast against pastels for a slightly jazzier ensemble for a date night or party.

I would stay away from wearing black or dark brown accessories with mint-green, as it’s quite a big contrast and might look a bit too stark. On a cooler day, Pippa could have layered a crisp white blazer over the top of her dress or, for a relaxed feel, a white denim jacket.

Trainers or flat sandals would also help make a mint green dress more casual and daytime-appropriate. Alternatively, go for a soft-green skirt or top and style them with your favourite jeans or white T-shirts for a simple but stylish look.

Pippa herself has only been spotted in this particular Rome dress once, but it still sticks in my mind as an outfit and green is still one of her go-to outfit colours.

Sure, everyone likes the summer in theory - until it's too hot to wear some of your go-to outfits and you've nothing else in your wardrobe.

Of course, one of the best summer dresses would be a great option, but if you're not a fan of the style, a jumpsuit is a cool, comfy and chic alternative – something Pippa Middleton was way ahead of the curve on when she wore this pretty blush pink one back in 2017.

This particular piece had a high v-neckline and a fitted bodice that flared out into wide-leg trousers – ideal for keeping cool in the warmer weather. Some of the best jumpsuits for versatility are neutral shades, though pastels are always popular in the summer, and they make a great alternative to summer dresses.

This was not only flattering and showcased her equally fabulous red heels, but also gave the jumpsuit a contemporary edge. This was echoed in the statement ruffle that ran along the front Pippa’s jumpsuit which extended up on to one shoulder, creating an angel sleeve that draped beautifully down.

Adding femininity and structure, this ruffle was a fun detail and the pale pink shade is a great choice for summer. It’s subtle enough to be incredibly easy to style and is a lovely alternative to white, cream or beige shades for both special occasions or days out in the sunshine.

Blush pink also looks stunning with brighter accessories if you want to add a pop of color.

Pippa Middleton opted for one of her go-to colors for bags and shoes and attended the charity fundraising party wearing red heels and a matching bag.

Whether you want to dress up a pair of jeans and a white T-shirt or exude even more glamour, a pair of red heels are a fun addition to your shoe collection. Pippa also carried a bespoke red heart-shaped bag with a woven texture from Radley, which donated profits to the British Heart Foundation.

This bag had plenty of space inside for all of her essentials and it was also perhaps a sensitive nod to the Miles Frost Fund, which was set up in memory of Miles Frost, who passed away from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in July 2015.

The Princess of Wales’s sister attended the Miles Frost Fund party with her husband James Matthews and this appearance was one of the first events they went to after getting married that May. Pippa’s brunette hair was loose in soft waves and her makeup was pared-back and radiant, with a glowy base and pink toned blusher.

This is Pippa’s staple makeup look and we can’t help hoping that she’ll bring back the pink and red combination sometime this summer, perhaps at Wimbledon 2025. Known to be a tennis fan, Pippa attended last year with her sister and niece, Princess Charlotte.

When the weather heats up, forcing ourselves into a pair of jeans might not always be the most appealing - even if you've found the best jeans for your body type. Jeans might be easy to pair with any capsule wardrobe staples, like basic tees or a crisp white button down shirt, but what can you do when the heat makes denim difficult to wear? Cue Pippa's relaxed, chic denim dress.

We tend not to see her wear denim quite so much nowadays, but we're still drawing inspiration from this look in July 2011. She was photographed in London wearing a mid-wash denim mini dress from popular British clothing brand Whistles.

Around the waist was a matching denim belt with a woven texture that secured in the centre with a silver-toned clasp. A belt of any description is a lovely accessory to add to dresses to give them a bit more shape and they can be incredibly flattering if you’re looking to accentuate your waist.

Pippa didn’t need to add a jacket back in 2011, but a denim dress like hers is so easy to pop a coat or jacket over on cooler days. You could also wear a white shirt, T-shirt or long sleeved top underneath if your dress has a similar, sleeveless design, or add a knitted sweater vest or jumper over the top. When it comes to accessories to put with a denim dress, you can go bold or neutral and both work equally well. Pippa Middleton’s denim dress looked fabulous with her Russell & Bromley wedges. She coordinated her blue jeans and black boots with her slate blue Tory Burch leather jacket, light blue blouse and black Modalu bag. Every time the Princess of Wales or her siblings talk about their childhood, it’s clear how close the Middleton family have always been - and will always be. Speaking recently to Hello!, Kate’s brother James has now described how "fortunate" he was to have multiple mother figures when he was growing up.

As the youngest in the family, he admitted that he got "away with quite a lot", but added that he jokingly says he had "three mothers growing up". Alongside his actual mum Carole, his sisters Kate and Pippa were people he looked up to and could always turn to.

"I had my mother and my two sisters, who were mothering figures to me. I was very fortunate," he said. "We had a fantastic childhood, and they included me in everything they did, and still do. I'm now in my late 30s and we still have that friendship."

The Princess of Wales is five years older than James and Pippa is four years older. Even though James’s comments were light-hearted, his admiration for his older sisters and how they continue to look out for each other couldn’t have been more honest or heartfelt.

Each of the Middleton siblings now has families of their own and busy lives, but they still make time for plenty of family visits. According to James, he, Kate and Pippa were brought up to be grateful for every moment with their loved ones.

He explained, "We're a close family, and we’re fortunate in that we see lots of each other. My parents play a good role in getting us all together in that respect. We've been brought up knowing that you can't take family for granted."

"You don't get to choose them, as you can choose your friends. But I don't think you can give up on your family like you can sometimes with friends," James added.

This sentiment is something that probably really strikes a chord with James, as he’s been incredibly open in the past about how his family all rallied round when he was struggling with his mental health and battling depression.

In an interview with The Telegraph back in 2019 James shared that "all" of the Middletons, including the future Queen, joined him for some therapy sessions.

This was "actually a very, very big thing", he said, before revealing that it was "so important because that helped them understand me and how my mind was working."

"And I think the way the therapy helped me was that I didn’t need my family to say, "What can we do?" The only thing they could do was just come to some of the therapy sessions to start to understand," he continued.

Their unwavering support and desire to understand his experience meant a huge amount to James Middleton. Over the years Kate has been a high-profile advocate for mental health support as well, particularly with regards to young people.

In 2023 the Princess gave a passionate speech to mark World Mental Health Day at a forum in Birmingham in which she reflected on why it’s so vital to focus on this.

"It is important, however, to remind ourselves of the big picture as we meet here today. What are we trying to improve by focusing our efforts on mental health? Ultimately, we are working to build a happier, healthier world.

"We want to shape fairer, safer, kinder, more equal societies—societies that seek the common good and a better future together," she declared.

It’s her belief that if we all talk about mental health with this at the forefront of our minds, it "need not have so many negative connotations" and we can "normalise it" as something we all have and need.

Although it's rare to see the Princess of Wales’s sister wearing a dress that isn’t midi length nowadays, back in the 2010s she was a huge fan of an elegant mini dress like this. Her knitted dress made the warmer tones of the plum jacket stand out even more and she added a patterned purple scarf over the top of both that accentuated the tonal styling even more.

To keep herself warm on this cold November day in London, Pippa wore her dress with black tights and knee high boots with a low heel. Jackets are a key part of anyone’s autumn capsule wardrobe, especially at the start of the season when we’re not quite ready to wear a full-on coat. Many of us will have our favourites, whether it’s a leather jacket, a puffer or even a denim jacket. However, there’s another equally versatile jacket that combines the cosiness of a puffer with the chic feel of a leather jacket - the aviator. Aviator jackets are traditionally lined with shearling or faux shearling for extra warmth, with a contrasting, smooth outer fabric, and we’re still entranced by Pippa Middleton’s Sandro aviator from 2012.

The Princess of Wales’s sister stepped out in London that December wearing a sleek black aviator with all the timeless details we love about this style. Darker denim washes like indigo, grey and black are especially popular in autumn/winter and they have a naturally more formal, trouser-like feel to them compared to light wash jeans. This is perfect for Pippa’s signature style which leans towards being smart-casual day-to-day. 

Skinny jeans might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but dark washes are one of the biggest denim trends for 2024 and if you’ve not got a go-to pair in your collection it’s well worth picking up a pair in the style that most suits you and your style. Pippa appeared to have layered a black lightweight knit jumper under her jacket and the hems of her jeans were tucked into her high top black trainers - also from Sandro. This is a very different footwear choice from the Princess of Wales’s sister, who is more often seen wearing knee high and ankle boots in the colder months. 

The trainers gave her whole look a more cool, fashion-forward edge and were also likely very comfortable. The leather also coordinated with the leather on Pippa’s jacket and with her Loewe handbag. This black top handle bag had hints of burgundy and chestnut brown on it which added a subtle pop of colour to her outfit and she finished it off with a pair of Givenchy sunglasses. 

If we ever needed inspiration to add an aviator jacket and indigo jeans into our style rotation surely this was it and Pippa’s chic outfit is a great one for these chilly autumn days.

The Princess of Wales reportedly told James and Pippa Middleton about her engagement in a very down-to-earth way.

Telling her family that she was engaged to Prince William, who was then second in the royal line of succession, was a life-changing moment for the Princess of Wales, but it seems that she very much took it in her stride. In their engagement interview in 2010, Prince William explained how he spoke to her father Michael Middleton after Kate had accepted his romantic proposal in Kenya. Kate also described her mum Carole being "over the moon" after hearing the news later, though until now not much has been known about how her siblings James and Pippa Middleton were told of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ engagement. 

Now James has shared how Kate revealed the special news to them - and it couldn’t have been a more low-key way. According to The Mirror, in a segment of his soon-to-be released memoir, Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, that was published in the Daily Mail, James said that he and Pippa were told by Kate at a pub. 

"Catherine, Pippa and I go out for a walk with Ella and Tilly [his late dog and the Middleton family dog] to our local pub in a village close to Bucklebury. We sit in a corner, chattering quietly," James reportedly recalled in the book. "Catherine whispers the news and says it will become public in the next day or so."

The Prince and Princess of Wales’s engagement was publicly announced on 16th November 2010. After being told by Kate, James and Pippa apparently had to "tamp down" their delight so as not to let the news slip early, though they were understandably over the moon.

He continued, "Pippa and I want to be visibly excited, but we have to tamp down our emotions so no one suspects a thing. We make a quiet acknowledgement that we’ll always be there for each other, look out for one another, support each other. No matter how crazy things get."

Whilst some might have expected Kate to tell her siblings in a more elaborate way, her method was more low-key. Doing it at a local pub with just the three of them and the dogs there is such a down-to-earth way of telling James and Pippa, and them having to keep it briefly a family secret likely made it all the more special.

It was very personal and we know from details at the Wales’ wedding - from the couple reportedly having their wedding tables named after places that mean a lot to them, to the Sweet Williams in the bride’s bouquet - that these personal touches are important to both of them. James went on to disclose in his book the moment he knew that this was true love.

The Princess’s brother had been walking in Battersea Park when the engagement news was made public. He supposedly explained, "I thought how lucky William was to be marrying my capable, down-to-earth big sister, and I felt absolutely reassured that they were in love."

The future King and Queen celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary in April and a few months later, they attended Trooping the Colour. During their time on the Buckingham Palace balcony Prince William and Kate were pictured looking adoringly at each other and showed they are as much in love now as they were when they got engaged all those years ago.

How to style colour pop jeans like Pippa

Many items in our autumn capsule wardrobe will also be perfect for winter too, though cold weather styling isn’t always easy. When we want to wrap up warm and look fabulous at the same time the combination of a classic coat and knee high boots is virtually unbeatable - and it’s one Pippa Middleton adores. Back in the day the Princess of Wales’s sister was regularly spotted out and about in London in knee high boots and a variety of shorter and longline coats and jackets to keep her snuggly warm yet chic. However, one of our favourite looks from her combined the gorgeous texture of suede knee high boots with a timeless trench coat.

She wore these in December 2012 when she visited Kate in Hospital where the Princess was receiving treatment for hyperemesis gravidarum during her pregnancy with Prince George. Pippa was pictured leaving in her Superdry beige coat and tan boots with a low heel.

They make a lovely change from leather boots, especially in this rich tan tone chosen by Pippa which is equally versatile as black boots. The hue works well with both dark and light hues and in this case, Pippa’s boots also echoed the shade of her trench coat. This colour palette coordination gave her outfit a put-together feel and her coat was so classic, with its double-breasted design and waist belt.

A belted coat is a very flattering choice if you’re looking to accentuate your waist and on this blustery December day we’re not surprised Pippa had her coat fully buttoned up to the top. Whilst a lot of trenches are longline or knee length, this coat finished above the knee. If you’re wondering how to style a trench coat, the length is a major factor and here Pippa went for either a mini dress or skirt that finished just below the hem of her coat.

This kept her look very streamlined and unfussy and the black tights blended in with her outfit so there was a stunning contrast between them and the warm-toned neutrals of her coat and boots. The coat was quite smart and the boots and rest of her outfit more relaxed and this came together to form a look that worked well for the daytime as well as for evenings out.

The Princess of Wales’s sister added a slouchy tan shoulder bag carried over her arm and left her brunette tresses loose and casual. Despite wearing this look over a decade ago, it’s as on-trend and easy to wear now as it was then and we’ll be embracing her autumn/winter staples again this year. It’s likely that she will too, although the next time we might see Pippa in public is likely to be if the Princess of Wales hosts another Together at Christmas carol concert in December.

Sisters Kate and Pippa Middleton seem to have upheld a sweet family tradition in honour of Carole when they welcomed their children.

The Princess of Wales has remained incredibly close to her family since becoming a senior royal and the Middletons are hugely important in the lives of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis too. Carole in particular has been described as "indispensable" in helping with childcare and once reportedly accompanied Kate and Prince William on a royal tour to assist with baby Prince George. Like the Wales family who live at Adelaide Cottage, Kate’s younger sister Pippa has made Berkshire her home and lives nearby to Carole and Michael Middleton. 

With the family’s heart-warming bond, it’s perhaps no surprise that both Kate and Pippa are said to have upheld a sweet family tradition - likely as a nod to their mum. When the Prince and Princess of Wales welcomed their daughter in 2015 there was huge speculation about what they would name her and the proud parents settled on Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. 

The Princess’s second middle name is a clear tribute to the late Princess Diana and whilst Elizabeth might have been after Queen Elizabeth, Kate and Prince William could also have chosen this moniker in honour of Carole. The future Queen’s mother’s full name is Carole Elizabeth Middleton and when her eldest daughter was born she chose to give Kate the same middle name.

It could be said that the Princess of Wales continued her mum’s tradition when she and Prince William gave Princess Charlotte the same middle name. Nor was she the only Middleton sister to do so, as according to Hello!, Pippa Middleton’s eldest daughter Grace also allegedly has Elizabeth as one of her middle names.

Like Kate and Prince William, Pippa and her husband James Matthews supposedly honoured both sides of their family tree with their name choice of Grace Elizabeth Jane. Jane is James’s mother’s name and Elizabeth once again links back to Carole.

In light of this, it seems as though both Kate and Pippa chose to continue the Middleton tradition of giving their firstborn daughter the middle name Elizabeth. Even if this wasn’t completely intentional, the link between Princess Charlotte and Grace’s names and Carole is so adorable. 

Late last year Carole Middleton became a proud grandmother-of-seven when her son James and his wife Alizée welcomed their son Inigo. She’s known to be a devoted granny and previously explained how she’s passed on her love of gardening, growing vegetables and getting muddy outdoors to her grandkids.

As reported by the MailOnline, Carole told Saga magazine in their May 2021 issue, "If I'm doing planting with my grandchildren I like to have it all laid out at 'activity stations' with their own little trowel and pot so they can get started immediately." 

"It's important for children to grow up appreciating nature and part of that is allowing them to get a bit muddy," she went on to add, before revealing her belief that "there's no better way to encourage healthy eating than to allow your grandchildren to see how food is grown and let them pick their own."

The Princess of Wales has previously spoken about how they grow vegetables at home too, showing how much of a shared family passion this is. As summer is prime harvesting time for many vegetables, it’s possible Carole enjoyed gardening time with her grandchildren in Berkshire during their recent school holidays.

Keeping to one key colour for your jeans and boots can help them appear even more leg-elongating on your frame and is especially impactful. However, this effect is also evident to a lesser degree when you incorporate different tones too. 

In the past Pippa Middleton regularly switched up her jean colours and was spotted out and about wearing everything from vibrant coral skinny jeans to mid-blue and dove grey jeans. This particular piece was so timeless, with its high, square neckline and had no pattern or adornments to it. "Knee high boots are an autumn/winter staple, particularly in this rich brown colour," she shares. "Team them with the summer midi dresses you're not quite ready to let go of and they're ideal for seeing you through this tricky transition between seasons too!"

For her day in London in 2011 Pippa’s boots were the main focus of her outfit and she went very simple with the rest of her look. She wore a sleek, black Zara coat which fell to just above her knees and wore it partially unzipped at the top, with a leopard print scarf tucked in. The coat had gold-toned zips but was generally minimal, which worked well with the boots.

Pippa Middleton coordinated her footwear and her handbag, stepping out with the Modalu bag in a tan shade held by its top handle straps. Matching your shoes and handbag helps to give an outfit a sense of cohesion and it’s a fashion trick we often see Carole Middleton do as well.

To finish off her look Pippa added a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses and pulled her hair back into a bun. This was such a stunning style combination from the Princess of Wales’s sister and being reminded of this look has got us excited to wear our knee high boots as the seasons start to change too. 

The last time Pippa was pictured attending a high-profile event in knee high boots was at the Together at Christmas concert in 2022. She wore a pair of deep brown Penelope Chilvers knee high boots with a Karen Millen burgundy coat and the combination was truly fabulous.

With the change in seasons on the way we will soon be putting together our autumn capsule wardrobe and when the weather gets cooler, shirts will quickly become our new staple. They go beautifully with jeans and trousers for a smart-casual feel and you don’t have to stick to white or black shirts. Whilst the leopard print trend might sound very bold, it doesn’t have to be and leopard print is actually one of the most wearable prints there is. Most leopard print items are very neutral in colour which makes them easier to style and back in 2011 Pippa Middleton dipped her toe into this trend in a way we still take inspiration from to this day.

However, the collar wasn’t quite the smart, pointed shape we often see on shirts, but was tied at the front in a bow. This gave Pippa’s leopard print shirt more of a feminine feel to it, without detracting from the timelessness of the design. The shirt’s simple silhouette balanced out the boldness of the leopard print and the more sheer fabric slightly too.

It looked as though the Princess of Wales’s sister could have layered her blouse over a black cami top which is a useful tip if you want to wear more sheer items from your everyday wardrobe to work. Either way, the pattern was the star of the show and was a dark, more subtle take on leopard print that incorporated black, chocolate brown and beige tones.

Brown-toned leopard print is something that’s surprisingly easy to style and Woman&Home’s Digital Fashion Editor Caroline Parr believes the leopard print trend isn’t going anywhere.

"Leopard print has been a huge trend so far this year, with jeans playing a starring role. But as we head towards autumn, more printed pieces like shirts and shoes are popping up everywhere," she says. "If you're not normally an animal print fan, the trick is to treat leopard like a neutral. The brown tones work really well with red, and will always make blue denim pop."

This is especially great news if you’ve always been tempted to try more leopard print and have already found the best jeans for your body type that you love and wear on repeat. Pippa and her sister Kate are both fans of mid-blue jeans with a streamlined shape to them and Pippa wore a pair of blue jeans on this September day in 2011.

They were a lovely colour contrast with her shirt and the darker shade of blue meant these naturally seemed a little smarter than a light wash pair. Mirroring Caroline’s advice, Pippa treated her top as a neutral piece and her brown bag tied in with the pattern wonderfully. If anything, her gold ballet flats were the most statement part of her outfit.

The flat design was practical for a busy day and the warm undertones of the gold echoed those of her top, ensuring the metallic shade wasn’t too much. Styled with a pair of wraparound dark sunglasses, this outfit was a stunner from Pippa and each item could easily be mixed and matched with other pieces, making them very versatile.

As we’ve often seen from Pippa when she wears brighter tones, she kept the silhouette of her outfit very timeless and sophisticated. This is a great tip for those who want to wear a splash more colour this summer and going into autumn, as a classic design helps to balance out a more vivid hue.

Red is also a particularly brilliant choice for this as it works perfectly with neutrals like black, white, beige and navy, as well as with other bright colours like pink or green if you want a colour-clash effect.

Perhaps this versatility is why Pippa loves reaching for the red pieces in her wardrobe and whilst a piece like her Boodles Boxing Ball dress might not be the best wedding guest dress for everyone’s wedding, it would be great for some. A red dress is also a glamorous choice for a holiday evening out or a family event. 

Alternatively, you could also take inspiration from Pippa Middleton’s red maxi dress but make it more day-to-day, by choosing a midi design or a top, shoes or bag. Going into autumn, red remains a lovely colour to wear as it picks up on the tones of the changing leaves, and so it’s well worth bearing your autumn capsule wardrobe in mind too if you’re thinking of picking up some red pieces.

For those wondering “What colour suits me?” bright red works well for those with winter colouring and Pippa accessorised her Temperley London outfit with a metallic gold clutch bag and matching shoes. Black and gold is a classic combination that accentuated the timelessness of this knitted dress. It finished above the knee and although we rarely see Pippa venturing out in a dress of this length nowadays, the short hem was balanced out by the long sleeves and created a very elegant silhouette.

Not every jumper dress has to be a heavy knit and this was a lovely staple for autumn when the weather wasn’t too cold. Having such a versatile dress as the main part of her outfit also meant that Pippa could more easily add in a sense of fun and vibrancy with her accessories.

The leopard print trend has been going strong this year and back in 2011 Pippa was also a huge fan of incorporating it into her looks with her Temperly scarf. It was bold but kept to a very neutral black and grey colour palette which complemented Pippa’s knitted dress perfectly.

As she arrived at work in London on that October day the Princess of Wales’s sister had her scarf loosely wrapped around her neck, with each end draping down gorgeously over her dress. Although it added warmth too, this was a stylish addition that added a playful edge into her otherwise very pared-back outfit.

Meanwhile, Pippa’s choice of a bright red bag added a pop of colour that contrasted so strikingly with her dress and scarf. It looks to be the same Prada bag she’d been spotted wearing that summer and had a satchel design and a strap long enough for it to be worn crossbody too, though Pippa favoured using it as a shoulder bag. She finished off her work look with a pair of black suede ankle boots, though if she had wanted to make this a little more casual she could have opted for her best white trainers. On colder days Pippa could also have chosen black tights, higher boots and a long black coat to keep her toasty warm. Whilst we are in no way wishing summer away, we’re excited to recreate similar looks when autumn begins to arrive as Pippa’s impeccable outfit is one that will never go out of style.

The sleeveless design was perfect for a hot summer’s day and it was knee length and beautifully fitted. As we’ve often seen demonstrated by Pippa, the more timeless an outfit’s silhouette the more it can carry a bold colour or print without seemingly too much for the daytime. This was the case here where the simple shift dress silhouette worked perfectly with the bubblegum print fabric which boasted a print of hot pink peacock feathers.

Understandably, something like this might not be your first thought for a summer capsule wardrobe but having a few bright pieces in your collection means you will always have a fun option ready if the occasion calls for it. When the weather is warm many of us will be tempted to match the bright skies with vibrant clothing and Pippa’s feather print dress had a playful feel.

The pattern itself was quite delicate and so here the colours were the more eye-catching detail, but we loved the combination of both together. Depending on the dress code, a pink patterned dress like this would be gorgeous as a wedding outfit and if you’re also on the lookout for the most comfortable wedding guest shoes then wedges like Pippa wore to Wimbledon are a great option.

She wore beige wedges and added a neutral raffia clutch bag which complemented her feather print dress and allowed it to remain the focus of her look. Whilst it’s rare to see the Princess of Wales’s sister with her hair up, she made an exception at the tennis in 2016. Pippa went for a low bun with two side pieces of hair left loose that framed her face.

In hot weather like the UK’s experiencing right now there’s nothing better than getting your tresses off your shoulders and out of the way if you have longer hair. A low bun is easy to do and can be as messy or pristine as you like, depending on what you’re wearing and the style you’re looking to achieve. Simply secure your bun with a hair band and some bobby pins and perhaps a touch of hairspray to ensure it holds all day and you’re good to go.

Just like her sister the Princess of Wales, Pippa Middleton doesn’t shy away from wearing a huge range of gorgeous colours, from sunshine yellow to fiery red. This is definitely more the case at special events and the summer is full of plenty of those, including Wimbledon, where Pippa recently stepped out in a stunning rose-pink Beulah London dress. However, she has been known to step away from the pastels and vivid tones on occasion. This was the case back in 2015 when Pippa arrived on Day 11 of Wimbledon wearing a striking black and white patterned co-ord that looked for all the world like one of the best jumpsuits around.

The silhouette was incredibly sleek, with a fitted bodice and trouser legs and short sleeves. The peplum detail that flared out at the waist had subtle pleats that gave it more dimension and structure. This worked perfectly with the geometric pattern with its precise, repeated motif.

Pippa Middleton’s co-ord was entirely black and white and the print featured square and star shapes within it that immediately caught our attention. Even if she’d just worn the top with a pair of linen trousers or jeans, the shape and edgy design would have been spectacular, but with the matching trousers her whole look was elevated to new style heights.

It created the most convincing and chic jumpsuit illusion and showcased that you don’t have to stick within your comfort zone when you’re putting together monochrome outfits. So many of us have plenty of black and white staples in our summer capsule wardrobe, but Pippa has shown that fun black and white prints can be a great way to make a monochrome look seem that bit more special and contemporary.

Finding black and white co-ords quite this unique and fabulous isn’t always easy, though, so we have our eyes on several black and white printed jumpsuits to help give us a similar effect. A jumpsuit has the added benefit of being an outfit in itself and a monochrome jumpsuit can be thrown on with your favourite black or white accessories to create a sensational look with minimal fuss and no worrying about what goes with what.

To make this outfit a little more casual and wearable day-to-day, the Princess of Wales’s sister could have worn either the top or the trousers and paired them with comfy flat shoes like her best white trainers, ballet flats or flat sandals. For Wimbledon, though, Pippa leaned into the dramatic feel of her co-ord and wore black wedges with straps running up and over her foot.

The abundance of straps likely meant she felt quite secure in these high wedge shoes for a day at the tennis. Whilst they matched the black tones in her co-ord, her clutch bag coordinated with the white in the pattern and was a classic flapover clutch bag. The design was simple but keeping to the same colour palette ensured each item had real impact.

Pippa finished off her look by keeping her brunette tresses loose and straight, with two intricate plaits on either side that were secured at the back. She wore a pair of dark sunglasses to protect her eyes on this sunny day and we can’t help feeling that this is one of her most stand-out Wimbledon outfits.

Many of us have our go-to neutral summer wardrobe staples that work for us without fail - whether it's a selection of floaty dresses, your best jumpsuits or linen co-ords. Yellow might seem like a rather tricky tone to style, but a pop of sunshine yellow can be so striking and we’ve still not forgotten Pippa Middleton proving this with her pre-birthday outfit back in 2012.

Pippa’s sunshine yellow dress had a classic shift shape to it, with a modest crew neckline and three quarter length sleeves. The skirt fell to just above the knee and all over the body of the dress was delicate lace which finished in a scallop hem at the bottom. The sleeves were unlined and so here the intricacy of the lace cut-outs was even more defined and gorgeous. Pippa Middleton’s dress came in two colourways, one of which was a creamy white, however she went all out for the US Open and went for the fabulous yellow option.

The eye-catching colour had a warm undertone that looked sensational with her wedges and bag. Pippa accessorised with Russell & Bromley wedges with a jute sole and soft tan-toned uppers and carried a Kate Spade handbag with natural raffia detailing.

Both worked perfectly with Pippa’s dress and their pared-back colours meant that the yellow wasn’t overshadowed or overpowered in any way. This is a great trip if you want to wear more yellow this summer as neutral, classic accessories help to balance out the brightness of the hue.

To complement her outfit Pippa wore her glossy brunette hair in voluminous waves that she left loose, in a centre parting. Her hairstyle is something we want to recreate with our hair curling tools of choice and, of course, the best hair products for humidity now the weather is warmer.

When curling your hair, it’s important to remember that preparation is a step you shouldn’t miss out, if you want to make curls last longer. 

"Preparation is absolutely key when it comes to styling curls," Adam Reed, legendary hairstylist and founder of ARKIVE previously told Woman&Home Digital. "Good prep will prevent the curls from coming out quickly. Try a blow-dry spray or lightweight mousse."

Pippa Middleton’s glamorous waves held in place throughout the Quarter Finals at the US Open and had plenty of volume too. In recent years she’s tended to wear her hair in looser waves or straight, though Pippa went all-out with a twisted, half-up, half-down look for the Wimbledon 2024 Men’s Singles Final that showcased similarly pretty curls.

All summer long we’ve been dreaming of wearing our best jumpsuits, white cotton dresses and espadrille wedges but the British weather hasn’t been entirely on board with our plans. July has been filled with cloudy days and rain so far and, if anything, it’s got us even more eager to add some bright colours into our summer capsule wardrobe. Pastels are often popular this time of year, but looking back at Pippa Middleton’s co-ord at the tennis in 2013, it’s hard not to fall in love with her choice of jade green. Not quite an acid bright shade or a pastel, this colour fell beautifully in between and Pippa wore a cardigan over a matching dress.

It’s not just Wimbledon that sees the Middleton family pull out all the style stops as Pippa wore this Cashmere by Tania co-ord to watch Andy Murray play Nicolas Mahut at Queen’s Club. The dress was the knitted Tita design and it fell to just above the knee.

The knitted fabric gave Pippa’s green dress some gorgeous texture and helped to soften the bold tone ever so slightly. It had an almost cable-knit pattern to it that might often be associated with winter clothing, but looked just as pretty on a rainy summer’s day back then too. 

Keeping to her chosen colour palette, Pippa wore a green Aurora cardigan from the same brand layered over the top. The Princess of Wales’s sister rolled up the sleeves of the cardigan and left it undone to give it more of a relaxed feel. This was a lovely way to make her co-ord combination seem polished but still perfect for a casual daytime outing.

In our opinion, the best thing about Pippa’s co-ord, though, was the colour. This vivid jade green isn’t something we’ve often seen Pippa wear but it’s such a stunning hue. 

As with so many brighter colours, the prospect of styling bright green might seem daunting. However, if you incorporate the bright colour with your base outfit and keep your accessories neutral, this helps to balance things out. Pippa Middleton carried a black woven top handle bag with her to Queen’s Club and whilst we couldn’t see her shoes in any of the pictures, everything from a pair of black ballet flats to her best white trainers would’ve worked with this look. 

She kept her brunette hair loose, straight and in a side parting and accessorised with jewellery that had a very minimalist design to it. At times during the day Pippa and her mum Carole were spotted sheltering under an umbrella as the weather turned rainy, but that didn’t appear to dampen their spirits and the brightness of her jade green look brought a sense of fun to this grey day.

If you're tempted to wear a similar shade of green, then you could perhaps start out with a cardigan or T-shirt that would work with your favourite neutral and denim pieces. A playful bag or summer shoes are also great ways to add some green into your outfits in a more subtle way.  

Over the years we’ve seen the future Queen’s sister wearing so many other fabulous outfits to watch the tennis too, particularly at Wimbledon. She recently joined Kate and Princess Charlotte to watch the 2024 Men’s Singles Final. This time she went for a pretty pink dress by Beulah London and a chic twisted updo hairstyle that we hope to see again.

Arriving on Centre Court for the final day of the tennis tournament, the crowd cheered and gave a standing ovation as Kate Middleton made a last-minute appearance with daughter, Princess Charlotte, and sister, Pippa Middleton. 

The Wimbledon final marked Princess Catherine's second official engagement of the years, following her cancer diagnosis, and fans were delighted to see her in the royal box.

As they settled down to watch, royal fans were captivated by Princess Charlotte and Pippa Middleton - who shared several heart-warming moments as they watched the match unfold. 

Charlotte and her aunt Pippa looked adorable in matching sunglasses and strikingly similar hairstyles for the event - and we can just tell that the young royal will grow up to be a pro on knowing what to wear to Wimbledon.

In fact, the nine-year-old looked like a mini version of her aunt in her pink Ray-Ban sunglasses. With their rose-tinted lenses and bold fuchsia arms, the sunnies looked seriously cute on Princess Charlotte, while Pippa looked effortlessly chic in a similar pair by Chanel. 

And sweet ruffled frocks were on the cards for both Pippa and Charlotte. While Charlotte looked adorable in a navy polka dot number by Guess, Pippa looked striking in the Peony Teaberry Floral Midi Dress by Beulah London, featuring pretty paisley and peony motifs.

With Wimbledon now over for another year, woman&home Digital Fashion Editor, Caroline Parr, touched on just how nice it was to see little Princess Charlotte channelling her aunt's timeless style.
