One of Britain’s most beloved actresses, Olivia Colman’s career is full of triumphs, including winning an Oscar, BAFTAs, Emmys and Golden Globes.

Off-screen, Olivia holds another accolade few in her business can claim - a decades long marriage. Olivia has been married to Ed Sinclair for 25 years, with the couple celebrating their Silver Anniversary in August of this year.

While promoting her new movie, Wicker, Olivia shared her characteristically down-to-earth advice for making their marriage last. After cracking that he's a "lucky guy", she revealed that the two always remember to be "kind to each other”.

She added that there's a piece of advice she was once given that she also tries to live by. “I heard from one person once had been married for about 50 years. ‘Sometimes it's the things you don't say’, which was very wise.”

Another nugget of wisdom from Olivia hinges on handling tougher moments. She added, “Wait for the right moment to bring it up.

"I'm not sure that I'm not a conflict person, nor is my husband, but we've learned over the years to definitely try and talk about, ‘You know that thing on Tuesday? Can we talk about that in a calm way?’

“It works well… if one of us has been upset by it, then we'll talk it through.”

The Oscar-winning actress first met her husband when they were students at Cambridge University. For Olivia, it was love at first sight.

Per the Metro, Olivia said upon meeting Ed, “That’s the bloke I’m going to marry.”

She added, “My husband and I were very lucky. We met when we had nothing and we loved each other then. So we were all right. We were 20 and he was also an actor. If you meet at that age then you are fine.

“For me, it was thunderbolts straight away. I still feel like I’m punching above my weight.”

They married in 2001 and share two sons: Finn, born in 2005, and Hall, born in 2007, as well as a daughter whose name has been kept private whom they welcomed in 2015.

While promoting her film, The Roses, in 2025, Olivia opened up more about her family life. She told the BBC that one of the most important things between her and her husband is making sure they’re always “being nice and checking in on each other".

Olivia also spoke about the sense of guilt that comes from being a busy working parent.

"From the moment you have a child, you'll have guilt. I took my eldest on set with me when he was six weeks old and I thought it would be easy but regretted it and even while he was on set, I felt enormous guilt because it didn't feel like the right environment for him to be in”.

Fans are in luck, as the BBC have confirmed that, with a running time of 80 minutes, series two’s culmination will be the longest-ever grande finale.

If the Faithfuls successfully banish all of the Traitors before the end of the game, the remaining Faithfuls will be crowned the winners and walk away with the prize money.

Delia Smith is full of “total” and “absolute gratitude” for her 55 year marriage to the journalist and publisher Michael Wynne Jones, but the legendary chef has conceded that she’s now learning to live as one half of a whole.

Delia’s husband passed away in September, and, appearing on BBC’s Woman’s Hour as part of her latest book tour, she shared how she has been left “totally and utterly overwhelmed” by the level of affection and sympathy she has received from people following his death.

Despite navigating a new life without her right-hand man of over half a decade, the response has been a reminder to the TV personality and author that “there's a lot of badness in the world, but goodness is stronger”.

Speaking on Woman’s Hour, Delia said of her 55-year-marriage, “Well, it was brilliant, absolutely brilliant. And all I can feel now is total gratitude, absolute gratitude. In all this avalanche of comments, I'm finding out, I knew he was good, I'm now finding out he was a saint.

"I've had journalists say he helped them to make their careers. I've had young cricketers who he helped because he was the local cricket captain. I have had messages from everywhere about how absolutely wonderful he was.”

She added, “I have just been totally and utterly overwhelmed. I mean, before I wrote the book, I knew there is a connection between human beings and we don't always realise how deep it is. But I have just experienced an avalanche of love from all parts of the country and from abroad.

"And I'm just overwhelmed by actually how good people are. And what we've got to get into our heads is that there's a lot of badness in the world. But goodness is stronger, if we could only understand that.”

The book Delia referred to is her latest which is not, surprisingly, a cook book. Instead, perhaps inspired by her recent loss and learning to rediscover the power of goodness, the book is her take on the power of community and unity.

Something which the former TV cook is no doubt leaning on more than ever as she learns to enter a new phase of her life feeling like one half of a whole, as she said on a recent podcast.

Delia told the Amol Rajan Connections podcast, “I've got to learn how to be half a whole. That's going to be hard after 55 years. We did so many things. We had a lovely life together.”

When asked if she could relive a moment in her life, she replied, “Any moment with my husband.”

From the dark comedy Bad Sisters to her new post-divorce comedy, Youth, Sharon Horgan has been the brains - and heart - behind some of the biggest shows of the last few years.

Appearing on Elizabeth Day’s How to Fail podcast, Sharon revealed that, though she’s never been happier since ending her marriage, she’s still "angry" at herself for staying when she knew it wasn’t right - and questions why this is a familiar pattern for many women.

"There came a point where it was so clear that it wasn’t right for either of us,” she said on the podcast. “It’s an odd one because I’ve never been happier but I’m angry at myself.

"Not for the failure of the marriage but for not figuring it out earlier. It’s so destructive, I think. You get one life and that’s an awful lot of time to spend on something that’s not working."

Sharon was married to TV producer Jeremy Rainbird for 14 years. The pair share two children together and called it quits in 2019.

Despite staying married for 14 years, Sharon had a sense that theirs wasn’t to be a marriage that lasted forever - but “guilt” and “conditioning” kept her waiting around.

“I guess it was one of those things that was a long time coming. And I feel like it's weirdly connected to confidence as well, or also that thing of what you should do versus what your body tells you and your brain tells you that you ought to do.

“I don't know what kind of conditioning it is that got so in the way of what my instinct was, and what would have been good for everyone. I don't know whether it's being slightly a bit Catholic - some of that stuff still being in me was just that idea of not getting divorced.

“You don't get divorced. Just stay in it - it's so much harder to go through all that, to go through a divorce.”

When it comes to their two daughters, Sadhbh and Amer, Sharon revealed “There's no co-parenting. Just me, it's just me.”

“I have this recurring image of my youngest daughter on her own crying. When she was crying with us we were able to talk and talk it out and explain how it was going to be, but she left and went into another room. That's going to stay with me forever.

“What I'd lost sight of was how important it was for them to see a working relationship, a healthy working relationship.”

Giving a reassuring lesson for anyone in a similar position, Sharon shared that, once you’ve finally bitten the bullet, there can be a positive outcome worth experiencing the pain and stress of a divorce.

She said, “Yes it failed, but it had such a positive impact on my life.”

This City is Ours makes a welcome return to our screens on Sunday, October 25. And if you loved season 1, buckle up for season 2, because it's set to be even more of a shocking ride.

Set in Liverpool, the first series followed gang leader Ronnie Phelan and his criminal family. Ronnie wanted to retire from his life of wrongdoing, but this was never going to be easy for him with an incompetent son and rival gangs poised for attack.

There was also a big focus on Michael in the series, a close associate of the Phelans, who also wants to leave gangland life behind after falling in love - he's torn between following his heart and being the right person to take over Liverpool's underworld.

Season 2 picks up just where season 1 left off, but before you sit down to make your way through the new episodes, let's take a look at everything that happened during season 1 in this handy recap.

This City is Ours season 1 recap

Season one of This City of Ours opens by letting viewers straight in on Michael and his wife Diana's fertility struggles. Visiting an IVF clinic, Michael is told he has a low sperm count and low motility, and the couple's chances of conceiving don't look good.

After his clinic trip, it's straight back to business and Michael needs to head to Spain to talk business with some suppliers.

Leaving the UK with Ronnie and his son Jamie, and senior gang member Davy, the men head to meeting with some men calling themselves the Amigos.

By the end of the discussions, the guys have successfully negotiated a direct shipment of cocaine to be sent to Liverpool in two weeks’ time.

However, after initially seeming to have made it through UK borders without being detected, when it arrives it appears that might not be the case.

Davy has a man on the inside who tells him the truck containing the goods was was taken apart and put back together on arrival in the UK.

Michael thinks they should just leave the shipment where it is and not go near it, believing the police will be waiting for them if they collect it. He and Ronnie discuss the possibility of a rat in their midst, or whether the Amigos are responsible - they settle on there being a rat, and Michael is tasked with finding it.

Ronnie suspects Davy is the rat leaking information. Before they can do anything, both men need to be present at Alfie's christening - he's Jamie's son and Ronnie's grandson.

After the christening, Michael has doubts about Davy being the rat, but the gang have a supply issue to sort out and he runs out of time to give it more thought. The men once again head to Spain to meet with the Amigos, and get themselves some usable drugs after abandoning the shipment.

At Ronnie’s Spanish villa, Michael asks Davy to help him move some alcohol from the garage. As they head to the garage together followed by Ronnie, Ronnie punches Davy in the face and Michael strangles him until he loses consciousness.

While the throttling didn't kill Davy, his days are still numbered. He survives long enough to be thoroughly interrogated by Ronnie, but is eventually shot and killed by the gang leader.

Back at the villa, Michael sees Ronnie and his reckless and impulsive son Jamie growing closer. He becomes paranoid that he is being pushed out of the gang, and this intensifies as Elaine Phelan fiercely backs Jamie to take over from Ronnie, despite him definitely not being the right person for the job.

Also at the villa, Davy's wife Cheryl grows increasingly worried about her husband's whereabouts. In a bid to hide his murder from her, Ronnie and Michael maintain that he went off to attend a 'business meeting', and will be back.

Cheryl doesn't find out the truth about Davy's disappearance until episode 6, where Diana cracks under questioning from hr friend, and admits that he's dead.

But in the immediate aftermath of Davy's murder, Michael's paranoia eventually gets the better of him, and while dealing with hiding his death, Michael makes the shocking decision to kill Ronnie.

Realising he'll never be handed the business as he isn't blood family, and fearing for his life, Michael stabs Ronnie to death as he rests on a sun lounger, with his horrified wife Elaine watching from an upstairs window.

Of course, there's chaos when Ronnie's body is discovered. Knowing that leaving his remains in Spain would lead to a police inquiry, Michael convinces the Phelan family to take the body back to Liverpool, eventually transporting it inside a freezer unit.

Jamie grows suspicious of Michael suddenly assuming leadership of the gang with his dad now dead, planning to see him off as they make the journey home. He eventually spikes Michael's drink with GHB in an attempt to have him knocked out and killed.

Michael survives and remembers exactly what happened, and after formally taking leadership of the organisation back in Liverpool, confronts Jamie about spiking his drink, and side-lines him in the business.

Furious over being pushed out, Jamie goes behind Michael’s back to source a separate supply of drugs using Albanian contacts.

While work is tense and stressful for Michael, there's some good news for him and Diana when their IVF attempt is successful. Their joy is dampened with Diana's apparent deep inner turmoil over her husband murdering Ronnie, and the couple sadly later lose their baby.

However, it turns out finding out her husband is a killer has released some deeply buried emotions in Diana, and out spills a secret - she is a killer too.

She confesses to Michael that as a teenager, she killed her abusive father to save her mother. The irony is that her mother had ended up taking the blame for it to save her daughter, and is serving life in prison for it.

When Ronnie's funeral comes around, the increasingly divided gang attempt to put on a united front. But behind the scenes, Elaine is urging Jamie to do more to protect the family business.

While Michael continues to strengthen relations and distribution deals with the Amigos, Jamie continues to forge ahead with his mother's wishes and establish his own supply chain to bypass and usurp Michael.

The growing feud and tensions between Michael and Jamie ends in them both agreeing one of them has to walk away. Their solution is to enter into a winner-takes-all cage fight to determine who will take control of the gang and the Liverpool underworld.

Despite ruling that no weapons are taken into the cage and the fight be completely old school, Jamie has a knife smuggled in for him. Although he's stabbed, Michael still wins the fight, but there's no surprises when Jamie refuses to honour the agreement and doesn't leave Liverpool afterwards.

Jamie later attempts a drive-by shooting of Michael, which totally fails. Michael retaliates by ambushing Jamie with a gun, but decides to spare him right at the last moment.

Michael is done with the criminal life at this point, and wants nothing more than to run away and have a peaceful existence with Diana.

By the finale, Michael organises a dinner at Diana’s restaurant to announce his retirement, suggesting Bobby and Banksey take over leadership of the drug trade.

During the dinner, the show's biggest secret so far is revealed - Ronnie Phelan had actually been a police informant. This explains how he'd been untouchable for so many years as head of the crime syndicate.

This also means Davy had never been the rat - it had been Ronnie all along, and Davy died an innocent man.

Later on, furious about not being appointed as gang leader and with everyone reeling from the news about Ronnie, Jamie has Diana kidnapped.

She's now pregnant again, and Jamie sends Michael a video demanding that he take his own life, or Diana will be killed.

Michael responds by getting Cheryl, whose hatred of the Phelans has grown as she's uncovered the truth about Davy's death, to abduct Jamie’s son, Alfie.

Michael and Jamie meet to exchange their hostages, and a successful swap follows. But Michael plunges a metaphorical knife into Jamie's heart by confessing to being the person who killed Ronnie, leaving him totally stunned.

Having spent some of the season also being threatened by the Colombian Cartel- if everything else going on wasn't enough - the finale sees Colombian supplier, Ricardo, run over and killed by Banksey. This temporarily eliminates another threat.

As the season concludes, Michael has successfully left the criminal business and can head off for the new life he wanted with Diana. The police need a new informant and turn their eyes towards a very eager Cheryl.

As the credits roll, Elaine's vehement threats of revenge ring loudly in everyone's ears.

In the show, Tom (Dominic Cooper) is married to Hannah (Shelley Conn.) When their 15-year-old daughter Jess starts dating her schoolmate Ollie, Tom and Hannah are introduced to Ollie's parents, Beth (Romola Garai) and Neil (Matthew McNulty.)

Everyone's lives are changed for ever, and a tonne of illicit stuff happens, when Tom and Beth start an affair. While the actors reveal that they sometimes felt "disgusting" and "awful" while filming the controversial series, it forced them to confront some uncomfortable truths about what it really means to be adulterous or know it's happening.

It's also going to push viewers into having similarly difficult, frank conversations with themselves - when you untangle the reasons Beth enters into the affair, they're actually very straightforward and will make you sympathetic towards her.

But should you be sympathetic towards somebody doing awful and destructive things? It's one of life's complicated questions and there will never be a right answer.

For Beth, she has nothing she can call an "excuse" for cheating. Her husband isn't abusive, she isn't particularly unhappy in her marriage, she just feels intense dissatisfaction.

"Her husband is a good guy but she’s had to suppress herself," Romola Tells The Guardian. She explains, "By the time Beth realises she’s given up too much for her marriage, it’s too late. When you have an extreme physical connection with someone else, growing in the fertile ground of marital disappointment, disaster ensues."

Married with two children herself, the actress says of Beth, "I just knew her. There are so many versions of that woman in my life."

She continues to say that so many things about Beth were a "hard-relate" to her own reality. "Somebody who’s exhausted from doing all the right things. Ferrying the kids around, washing the team’s football kit, contributing financially to the home in two different jobs. She’s part of the sandwich generation and she’s overwhelmed," she says.

"Resentment sits inside you like a little gremlin," she shares.

For Dominic Cooper, there were times during filming he felt sort of grubby. "Romola and I spoke at length about actually portraying these people – that was quite hard at the beginning to see whether anyone would feel for them actually," he says, pondering whether audiences would have any sympathy for either character.

He continues, "What they're doing, the betrayal and the level of that and doing as they please, it was frightening," saying that he often thought, "I'm disgusting, this is awful," during filming, wanting to tell his character Tom to just "pull yourself together, get back to your family."

On the other hand, he suggests that although filming the series challenged him, he believes adultery can be " something that we all question and everyone has been tempted – whatever stage of their life."

Weighing in on the possible audience reaction to this thought, he says, "I think watching it will be quite uncomfortable for many people if they're in a couple, it will raise a lot of questions with themselves and their own relationships, reflect on your own behaviour."

Another thing viewers won't fail to be confronted by while tuning in, is the differing attitudes to men and women when somebody cheats - its's almost guaranteed audiences will be more sympathetic towards Tom than they are to Beth, purely because of misogyny.

Romola says she felt trepidation at knowing the script was penned by a man. "I picked up a script about a cheating wife, written by a man, with a little bit of hesitation," she explains.

The actress adds, "In our cultural imagination, unfaithful women haven’t always been well served and can often be a projection of male insecurity – from Eve onwards."

Rightly, she says, "Women get called ‘whores’. There’s no slur word for sexual incontinence in men. You’d never call a dude a ‘home-wrecker’ either," as she reflects on the most difficult reason of all of them Beth might've had an affair: She just wanted to.

"It's still very provocative for a woman to say, 'I am going to put myself first,'" she says, adding, "I think it's still very rare for women to do that in the real world."

She concludes thoughtfully and with a lot of realism, "It's really rare to see it depicted on screen in a way that allows a woman the right to say 'I'm doing something purely for myself'. I think that is still very scary to do culturally in our society."

Judi Dench has shared her very candid thoughts on the one film she regrets making so much, she refused to watch the final cut.

The film in question is the 2019 adaptation of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Cats. The actress took the role of Old Deuteronomy in the movie, which was universally panned by critics.

In her upcoming memoir, Is It Too Late to Make a Run for It?, Judi remarks that after Andrew Lloyd Webber had waited so long for the film to become a reality, it ended up being "a waste of goodwill and talent."

"Oh God, I can’t bear it," she writes when recalling the movie, adding, "I understand the critics were rather hostile to the film. I never saw the final cut so I can’t judge."

She continues, "All I’ll say is nobody sets out to give a poor performance or make a bad film. You do your best, offer something up and hope that people will get on board and join the party."

Saying that, she says she felt "ill at ease from the beginning" portraying Old Deuteronomy, suggesting, "I just didn’t feel right in the role."

The star also makes criticisms of how the how the extras were treated on set, with young dancers "left hanging at the end of each take," where they'd "stand there exhausted and be completely ignored."

While she regrets being a part of the film, Judi does refuse to pin the blame for its terrible box office performance on any one person, saying, "There were no villains in the making of Cats."

She writes that people's intentions are usually "honourable" when it comes to such productions, sharing, "If something isn’t a success, then there are always things you can say you’ve learned.

"Sometimes things just don’t work out: the timing’s wrong, the cast don’t gel, the elements don’t coalesce."

During a 2020 interview with Vogue, the actress made the most shocking revelation about her costume for the film.

"The cloak I was made to wear!" she said, adding, "Like five foxes f**king on my back." When looking at still from Cats, Judi said of Old Deuteronomy that the character looked like "a battered, mangy old cat," and "a great big orange bruiser."

However, it appears not everyone hated it, and the actress had a message from a fellow actor who'd really enjoyed the film.

"I had a very nice email… no, not an email, a text, from Ben Whishaw, who just doted on it," she shared, concluding, "So sweet. So lovely."

Who is taking part in Last One Laughing: Halloween?

The cast of comedians who must avoid laughing - and screaming - in the Halloween special include some returning favourites from earlier episodes and some comic legends.

The line-up features Jack Dee, Phil Wang, Reece Shearsmith, Harriet Dyer, Tom Allen, Lou Sanders and Daisy May Cooper. Jimmy Carr and Roisin Conaty will take on hosting duties again.

She turns 50 today (Friday 23) and when woman&home caught up with her just before her milestone birthday, Cat Deeley had a refreshing take on ageing.

While she admitted she’s “not a fan of my own birthday,” saying, “I don't like being the centre of attention very much,” the This Morning presenter revealed that she’ll be marking the occasion with “travel”, “hanging out with people that I really love” and “a glass of something bubbly.”

"I'm spending the day with family before going to Ibiza with some friends," she told us.

But, away from the celebrations, she shared that approaching her sixth decade has made her “take stock.”

“It’s definitely made me go, ‘ok, where am I in my life at the moment, I'm really lucky.’ I'm incredibly happy, I've got two lovely little boys that are happy and healthy. I've got a career that I love. I've really enjoyed every step of the way too, so I'm just quite excited.”

And while many women are worried about getting older and find their confidence dropping, she shared that she “definitely feels more comfortable in my own skin now.’ The star explained, “I think you start to learn what suits you, what works for you.”

As for what life at 50 has in store, Cat, who split from husband Patrick Kielty in July 2025, revealed that she won’t be signing up to reality shows any time soon. “Oh no! I have the worst, I can’t even play poker. I’d probably Richard E. Grant it and just blurt it,” she revealed when quizzed about a stint on Celebrity Traitors.

The same goes for Strictly and I’m a Celebrity, which she surprisingly revealed she’s “never been asked to do.”

She did, however, admit that she isn’t afraid of stepping outside of her comfort zone. “I like doing things that scare me a little bit,” she confessed.

“I always feel like if you've got something, an opportunity that comes up or something life changing that you want to do or some big decision, whatever that is, if you feel a little bit scared when you're approaching it, trepidation - I don't mean being terrified - but just slightly scared, then you should probably do it.”

Cat added, “I think things that are exciting are worth pursuing and even if you kind of fail. You learn so much from failing.”

When it comes to her burning career goals, she told us, “I don't know. I'm lucky, I've done most of them that I kind of wanted to. It's also the right place, right time as well for certain things in your life. It's like at a certain point I wouldn't do that, but later, maybe.”

“For instance, This Morning is perfect for me at the moment because it means that I go to work, I come back and I can do [school] pick up and homework and bath time and dinner. So it's perfect for me right now actually and it's something I really love doing. I think there is a little bit of right place, right time.”

Cat concluded, “I feel good. My kids keep me young, I do something I love. Life doesn't get much better.”

The Pride of Britain Awards are back for another year, celebrating the remarkable people who make our world a better place.

The star-studded ceremony took place in London on Monday (19 October), but audiences will be able to watch the celebratory night from the comfort of their own homes this evening (Thursday 22).

Former Countdown and woman&home cover star Carol Vorderman returned as host for the 27th year running, joined by Diversity frontman Ashley Banjo.

Coleen Nolan recalls the "panic" and fear" she felt after becoming pregnant at the age of 16. The presenter was supported by her Loose Women co-star Janet Street Porter when telling her story, who once found herself in the same situation as a teenager.

Speaking about their experiences on the daytime show, Coleen begins, "I always knew I wanted kids, and you know, as things happen, accidentally I got pregnant very young at 16."

She continues, "I'd just joined my sisters, and it was all taking off for the band." She says that the image of the band, The Nolans, was "sweet, innocent Irish girls."

Concerned for how the band would be perceived if knowledge of her pregnancy became public, Coleen says, "I didn't tell my sisters, I didn't tell my mum and dad - I didn't tell anyone."

Explaining the decision she made at the time, the presenter shares, "I went off and I did have a termination, at 16."

Looking back on how she felt at this stage of her life, Coleen recalls, "The panic, the absolute panic in me when I found out - this is why I have this thing about wanting my kids to be able to tell me everything."

She remembers just knowing, "I can't tell them," when thinking about her family, worried that she was going to "ruin their whole life."

Having just joined the band and being the youngest, she could only think about what a teenage pregnancy would look like for the future of The Nolans when making her very difficult decision.

Janet Street Porter stepped in to share her very similar experience of finding out she was pregnant at 17.

"I didn't grow up feeling particularly maternal, but I did get pregnant by my boyfriend, who was a steady boyfriend, at 17," she says.

She continues, "But oh my goodness, like Coleen, the idea of my parents finding out - I was absolutely the most scared I've ever been in my entire life."

Sharing her experience of deciding to end the pregnancy, Janet says, "I had a backstreet abortion which was absolutely horrible, I paid for it with £25 in cash and went to some place in Camden Town."

She's since never been able to walk down the street on which the termination took place, because "it brings back the memories."

"I was doing my A Levels and going to college," she says of plans that would've had to be postponed if she'd had the baby.

Ultimately, the relationship came to an end, and Janet had a further termination just before the partnership ended for good. "From then on my life started, and I did not have children in the immediate agenda," she says.

When a clip from the conversation was shared to Instagram, the presenters both received a number of supportive comments.

One person wrote, "Very strong women! They made choices for their bodies and lives. We need to make sure we will always have this option for all women."

Another added, "Thank you both for sharing this, it’s so important for women to have the right to choose, free from shame and judgement."

Somebody else shared, "Absolutely bless them for talking about such a devastating part of their lives."

Dame Helen Mirren is a lot of things, including an icon, a national treasure, and a hugely talented actress.

She's also very honest and down-to-earth, and this is evident in the "biggest vice" she has, that she really struggles to give up - it's one that many people share.

Speaking on The Run-Through with Vogue podcast, when Helen was directly about her biggest vice, her immediate and very surprising answer is "doomscrolling."

"It's the worst vice of all," the actress admits, adding that her algorithm serves her "ballet" videos that she just can't stop looking at.

This admission leads to another little known story about Helen, involving her once hoping to attend the Royal Ballet School.

"I love looking at dance - I went to ballet school," she explains, adding, "I auditioned for the Royal Ballet School but I didn't get in, luckily, which is a very lucky escape really."

She doesn't reveal the reason for this being a "lucky escape," but does say that her love of dance took her to explore many types of movement. "It led me into Indian dancing, Indonesian dancing, Turkish dancing - and dance is so magical," she says.

"Dance is a magical thing we all do," she continues, but does say that algorithms giving people "whatever you want," is "dangerous."

While the idea of Helen Mirren endlessly scrolling ballet and dance videos and being unable to put her phone down makes her more approachable than ever, the actress also shares her equally understandable TV show recommendations.

"I did love Game of Thrones," she says, adding that she's just as in awe of its prequel, House of The Dragon.

Speaking of the latter, she says, "It's just so spectacular to have a huge series about two women, and it's about family, it's about sex, it's about their smartness, their fear, their insecurity, their faults - incredible to see that."

Helen is also a huge fan of Slow Horses, sharing that she's read all of the books on which the admittedly brilliant show is based.

Sharing even more insight into aspects of her life the public wouldn't normally know about, Helen also delves into the time she tried "method drinking" to get into character for a role.

"I have done method drinking in the past," she admits, explaining that the first time was for a play called Teeth and Smiles where she played an "alcoholic rock and roll singer."

She previously hadn't been able to afford to drink up until that point, but needed the experience for the role.

"I did method drinking - I started drinking a lot, just to see what it was like," she shares. When asked whether it helped, Helen replies, "It was fantastic."

She continues, "It was wonderful - talk about freeing. The liberation, it's a terrible thing." Although she quickly says, "I stopped as soon as I started the play, because you can't do that and do a play."

She adds, "But to feel what that feeling is like, to be so drunk," hinting that it was something she wouldn't forget and something that informed her performance.

Watching television has become far more than just something to do to fill the time at the end of a long day.

TV shows and films have the ability to transport viewers somewhere completely different, letting them in on unforgettable stories and the lives of characters they'd never usually meet.

Importantly, TV can be comforting. Recently, Bake Off fans have been sharing moving stories about how the show has become their ultimate comfort-watch, and something far more meaningful to them than simply watching enthusiastic bakers in a tent.

The long-running reality series is something that wraps them in a warm hug and makes them feel part of community during dark times.

Thanking viewers for telling their stories, the show's official Instagram account posted a picture overlaid with the words, "We're seeing lots of posts about GBBO getting you through dark times and just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for watching and for sharing, it means a lot to us."

This was followed by slides revealing some of the stories. After reading the post, the comments were flooded with viewers sharing their own tales of Bake Off being the one thing they turn to during time of need - and it's very emotional reading.

One person shared that Bake Off was the only show she could watch when her husband passed away, leaving her with two young children aged two and four.

She wrote, "When my husband died in 2020, I laid in our bed for days and days and left GBBO on repeat. Anyone who came to give their love to my little family (boys aged two and four,) would sit silently in the room with me while lovely people baked charming carb-loaded creations.

"We would stare and try to make sense of anything by watching sugar, butter and flour come together, and it’s never left my family as a gentle place to wonder and remember the goodness in the whole thing."

Somebody else shared, "While my mum was dying in hospice care at home we binge watched it together, and it is some of the best memories. When I want to feel close to her, I put it on."

One lady told the story of Bake Off helping her through a difficult divorce. She said, "GBBO helped me through when my marriage ended. That first Thanksgiving alone was almost impossible to survive, but then I found this crazy baking contest. The contestants were so kind, and encouraged each other.

"I was floored, because American reality shows are cutthroat and just vile. GBBO was an immediate salve to my injured soul. I binged all the prior seasons and still regularly have the old episodes on in the background. Now, it feels like they are all old friends."

For another person, Bake Off was the only way she could give herself important medication. Poignantly, she wrote, "I was going through our egg retrieval process for IVF and the only way I could inject myself with these very large needles multiple times, every day, for 2 weeks was to put on GBBO on my iPad in the bathroom.

"It took my mind off the task and felt like I had friends in the room with me. Thank you for bringing joy all over the world!"

Other commenters didn't have such emotional stories to tell, but still wanted to praise the series simply for being nothing but joyful - something that really is a rarity when it comes to modern TV.

Summing it up perfectly, somebody shared, "Bake Off is an example of how we all could live together when no-one cares about race, sexuality, gender, age, disability. Like a microcosm of acceptance and harmony. So refreshing and k(needed) in these polarised times."

Another thrilling instalment of The Diplomat has come to an end, and as is customary with the hit political thriller, there's a huge amount to unpack after that season 4 finale.

This season opened with Kate reeling from the discovery that the catastrophically dangerous nuclear-powered weapon the Poseidon, hadn't been buried in cement at her request at all, but actually stolen by Grace and Hal.

By the time the credits rolled on episode 8, there'd been a shocking death, several resignations, and a growing number of couples re-thinking whether or not their romantic entanglements should continue.

Let's break down what happened.

The Diplomat season 4 ending explained

In the build-up to the finale, Austin Dennison was nowhere to be seen. By episode 3, it came to light that Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge had sent him on a visit to Amritsar, India, to meet with the country's foreign minister.

Sadly, he didn't make it back as he died in an unseen helicopter crash that happened off screen.

Austin's death pushed Trowbridge into a downward spiral that included him having visions of his deceased former adviser, Margaret Roylin and kicked off the start of what was ultimately his political downfall.

By episode 4, Trowbridge had resigned. He was a broken man after the troubling hallucinations of Margaret, and having been blackmailed by Kate - she made it clear to both the Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary Robyn Palmer that she had evidence of Trowbridge's wrongdoing.

This came in the form of a recording of the Prime Minister throttling Margaret after he found out about the part she played in the HMS Courageous bombing disaster. Upon resignation, Trowbridge is replaced with Jodie Whittaker as Bethan Vaughn.

During this season, Stuart found out the truth behind the HMS Courageous attack. Like most people, he believed President Rayburn had been responsible for the bombing, and is shocked to find out Grace was really the leading force behind it.

With Grace's growing confidence leading to risky behaviour and decision making, Stuart posted a message on the State Department Dissent Channel - an internal communications system that lets employees express confidential disagreements - to raise concerns about her.

When Grace found out, she removed Stuart from his London posting and it appeared he was going to be left jobless. With Stuart returning to Washington, Eidra would be staying in London - not only is Stuart probably unemployed, but it looks like his relationship could also be over.

During the finale's G7 summit, our leading characters, Grace, Hal, Kate, Billie, and Vaughn are all in the same room in Tuscany.

Grace unexpectedly kicks things off by announcing that Vaughn intends to let Russians into UK waters. The president says, "Americans are prepared to fire on any country that interferes with our mission."

She adds, "Nothing will stop us from keeping Russian warships and surveillance vessels and tactical weaponry out of the European seas." It's an outright threat, essentially saying that America will be doing whatever they want from now on, and nobody can stop them.

Immediately, Kate stands up, takes off her lanyard, and resigns to the President's face. Walking from the room, she's followed by Billie and Ganon who both want to follow her lead and make a stand against American tactics.

Grace is once again left furious and alone, but still intends to simply keep going with her mission to maintain absolute geopolitical control. While it initially doesn't look like Hal will join the walk out, there's sighs of relief all round when he eventually does.

For most of the cast and crew, Hal’s appearance with the rest of those walking out came as a surprise, as it was a detail kept secret until the filming of those scenes actually took place.

"In the read-through, that last page was redacted," Hal actor Rufus Sewell tells Tudum, sharing that his character's actions earned him "a round of applause that day" when the cast all found out the Vice President was doing the right thing.

However, the actor isn't sure his character made the decision because it was the noble thing to do - he thinks it could be down to Hal wanting revenge for the President earlier humiliating him.

Having already tried to stand up during the summit to express his feelings, he'd been "sat down" by Grace and left red faced. "It’s painful to play that because it’s not a good look," Rufus says of how Hal would've felt in that moment.

But, Hal is out, and now there needs to be a press conference. Without warning him, Kate informs the waiting reporters that her husband has something to say.

Stepping up to the mic, Hal goes to make a speech but viewers infuriatingly don't get to hear it, as that's where the finale ends.

Whatever his master plan, we won't get to find out what it is until season 5 - whenever that might be.

Daniel Ings who plays the iconic Freddy Horniman in Netflix's The Gentlemen, has confirmed he won't be returning to the hit show for season 3.

As one of the most memorable characters in Guy Ritchie's crime comedy caper, Freddy's axing from the series comes as a huge shock, and fans want to know the reason for his departure.

The actor has opened up and been very direct about the behind-the-scenes changes and "different direction" he was told The Gentlemen would be taking before he learned Freddy wasn't included in season 3, and how he'd begun to feel he "couldn't rely on the scripts" he was given during filming for seasons 1 and 2.

"I’m not in the next one," Daniel confirms in conversation with HATC Magazine. He doesn't give away exactly what happens to Freddy, who was last seen maniacally decapitating Gospel John in the closing moments of season 2, but does refer to Freddy's departure as "wild, broken, crazy."

Humorously teasing his fate, Daniel says he believes season 3 could explain the Freddy's absence as him being off "probably mumbling into the ether somewhere in the British countryside”.

Describing his time on the show as "a lot of fun" and "a great experience," the actor explains that while he'll "always be grateful to have played a part in creating that character," Freddy was presented to him as "a completely different character" when scripts were handed out for season 2.

"I think Guy wanted to move away from the humour of it," he shares, adding, "He sat me down on my first day on the second series and was like, 'We went too far with the humour; we got to pull it back.'"

As part of the "big old journey" Freddy went on, and the changes to his character made for season 2, Daniel hints at constant script changes presenting a challenge to the cast, particularly to how Freddy's relationship with his brother Eddie came across on screen.

"The way that Guy Ritchie works is that he kind of throws the script out on the morning, and so you’re really putting a lot of yourselves as performers into those characters and helping build the momentum of a scene, ad-libbing and improvising and all this kind of stuff," he says.

However, he says the director would sometimes "rewrite the script and give you brand new pages." Because of this "constant evolution of surprise," the actor felt he "couldn’t even really rely on the scripts that you were given."

He continues to reveal, "Then new directors would come in. We’d get these new drafts, and that was a sort of constantly evolving process, and it was a real challenge to find the through-lines with the characters, and particularly for me and Theo [James]."

Delving into how their brotherly bond was depicted, Daniel says, "We had this kind of dynamic of a brotherly conflict that we had to really track through all of these evolving plotlines and storylines," and this would need to be revisited during multiple script alterations.

"So that was a constant bag of surprises," he says of navigating this particular behind-the-scenes aspect. However, he can see why certain changes need to be made to keep a series fresh, and why Freddy needed to be axed.

"You don’t want to keep playing the same game with the audience of this guy kind of comedically messing things up for them," he shares, concluding, "So it was an interesting challenge to take him in a different direction at the end. I thought it was fun."

There's one thing before bidding Freddy farewell for ever that fans would like to know: Did Daniel get to keep the chicken suit from season 1? The answer is yes and no.

"I asked for it on my very last day, and they said yes, and I took it home with me," he reveals. But, a week later, he received a phone call.

"They called and said, 'Oh my God, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have given you that,'" and he needed to return it.

"It means that when it gets to Halloween every year, I’m very resentful because I don’t have a standard costume that I can whip out," Daniel says humorously.

He concludes, "But in fairness, it did take up quite a lot of space in the wardrobe."

During a recent appearance on Sara Cox's Radio 2 Breakfast Show, Emma Thompson left listeners in stitches with a hilarious anecdote about once being mistaken for a naked intruder at her own home.

Teasing what was to come, Sara asks the iconic actress whether she'd like to elaborate on a drama "involving nakedness in a sheep field" that once happened to her.

Emma wastes no times in perfectly delivering the tale, beginning, "I was at home in Scotland with the sheep, and my daughter."

A night-time knock at the door woke both Emma and her daughter, Gaia, who "trotted down in our nighties" to see what was happening.

They were greeted by "a massive, horribly good looking policeman," who said, "I'm so sorry to bother you at this time, but a neighbour of yours reported that there was a 50-year-old naked man walking through the field about 4pm this afternoon."

He added, "I was wanted to see that you were OK." immediately frightened, Emma recalls wondering, "Oh my god, there's a stalker," until her daughter pointed out something really quite funny.

"That's sauna time mum, that's when you always go for your sauna," her daughter had said, and the actress made the connection - she was the one mistaken for a naked 50-year-old man.

The actress has previously spoken about having no problem with nudity, and being naked in front of others - with her property being in what she believed was "the middle of nowhere," she didn't think anyone was near enough to see anything in the outside land, let alone see her walking around it.

When the realisation about the nature of the mix-up hit, Emma says she quickly told the policeman, "I think it's OK," and it appears he might've joined the dots at the same time.

"Oh, oh," the officer backtracked, saying of the elderly neighbour, "I don't think she can see very well. I'm sorry to bother you."

Emma says, "Away he went, faster than he would otherwise have gone." She was left pondering whether he'd "had the same vision in his mind" of it actually being her naked in the field, and left as quick as he could out of embarrassment.

"So, that's what happened, and it's entirely true," the actress concludes with a smile. As well as the sauna, the actress also has a pond that she "washes in" at her Scottish home.

Witing in the comments, one person wanted to issue a warning about the dangers of walking and bathing naked outdoors.

"Be careful, Emma. Walking through a field naked is asking for a tick infestation. At least wear boots!" they wrote.

Another added, "Laughing out loud in the car this morning listening to Dame Emma's story!"

Women who have experienced any type of healthcare issue will likely be aware of the gaslighting and misogyny that's sadly ingrained in the UK medical system.

Presenter Ashley James recently spoke about about being told the bladder and bowel incontinence she's currently going through after a traumatic birth, is "all in her head."

After the huge outpouring of support she received for sharing her story across social media and on ITV's This Morning, she returned to the morning TV show to make further comments linking her experience to a Cambridge study that reveals women are far more likely than men to have their physical symptoms dismissed.

Broadcaster Mariella Frostrup now adds to the conversation by highlighting that healthcare provision in the UK isn't just inadequate, but also worse than some European countries.

Appearing on Jo Whiley and Zoe Ball's Dig It podcast, Mariella suggests there are two main problems behind issues with women accessing the care they need.

"One is the NHS and it's being the fact that it's overburdened," she says of the first possible major issue, adding, "The second is that women's health has never really been a priority."

She continues, "You know, under 10% of funding goes into medical research for female specific conditions."

Sharing a personal story and insight into what healthcare in the UK should look like, Mariella reveals that she once went to Italy and forgot to take her oestrogen for her menopause symptoms with her.

She felt "absolute terror" on realising she didn't have the medication, wondering how she'd manage without it and not thinking she'd ever get a replacement - such medicine is often subject to strict gatekeeping by medical professionals in the UK.

Mariella was surprised to be told, "Oh, just go to the chemist down the road and they'll give it to you."

Questioning whether she'd heard correctly, a friend living in Italy explained, "You just go down there and tell them you've left it behind, and you can just get your oestrogen."

She was surprised to find hormones, sleeping tablets and other useful medication just on the shelves. "What this illustrates is a trust in women's judgment that that in this country, we have an absence of" she says.

Mariella says women are often told, "You don't really," "you're too young," or "those aren't the symptoms" when trying to access drugs they know they need. They know their own bodies but are often told they do not, and a medical professional knows better.

Poignantly, she adds, "We're treated constantly as though we're unreliable witnesses to our own experience," calling this grave injustice "one of the most infuriating things" that "curtails progress."

When talking about what we can do about something so "entrenched in society," Mariella says, "It's something we have to just keep talking about, and we have to keep spotlighting until it changes, because it's absolutely unacceptable."

She explains a "recent ITV investigation" found medical students can have as little as "an hour" of training in a women's issue like menopause in their entire five-year course.

"That has to change, right?" she questions. "It highlights a system where women's health is at least at the very best secondary and really at the bottom of the list," she states.

The broadcaster acknowledges that changes are being implemented to how medical professionals are trained in menopause care, but believes it's "going to take at least 10 years for that to impact the women who are going to their GPs" in the future for support.

She highlights that "in too many cases" women are turned away or "being delivered opinions that actually aren't accurate" which is why gaslighting and withholding access to treatments can be wrong.

Mariella urges women to keep advocating for themselves and for everyone to "take responsibility" to move women's healthcare forwards.

However, she does point out that with "recognition of menopause, comes the commercialisation of it," warning women to research carefully and not fall into the traps of those "selling you all kinds of stuff that you don't need and isn't going to make a blind bit of difference."

Her advice for those visiting their GP with their symptoms is to attend an appointment armed with as many facts as possible. This could mean reading papers and books on the subject and accessing as much information beforehand.

Mariella concludes, "We need to take ownership of our own bodies and the responsibility for being informed, in the absence of societal recognition of it," while we "battle for better provision on a governmental and national level."

The Hairy Bikers will always be remembered as national treasures - a warm double act brimming with enthusiasm for both food and motorbikes.

However, one half of the partnership, Si King, has been dealing with a devastating loss after his good friend and fellow Hairy Biker Dave Myers, sadly passed away in 2024 at the age of 66.

Speaking candidly about grief after Dave's death, Si says, "It's interesting about grief isn't it, because it's as nuanced and as individual as the people that are feeling it."

Many people know the basic stages of grief include denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.

However, Si's very poignant statement proves that the process is never linear, and those going through loss can revisit certain stages, or have an entirely different grieving process altogether.

Speaking on Davina McCall's Begin Again podcast, Si candidly spoke about his experience of feeling angry with Dave for leaving him.

"I'm still pretty angry about him b*****ing off really, but I'm not really an angry person and I struggle with that about myself and that part of my character," he shares.

Si continues, "My journey with Dave's illness was quite different to what everybody else sees, because it was highly personal and very private."

Explaining the "level of disbelief" he felt when he found out about Dave's diagnosis, Si says he can "still remember where I was" when he found about his good friend's cancer.

"There was a surreal moment of, 'What do you say?'" he recalls of the moment he was told about Dave's illness, adding that although he didn't know what to say at all, he landed on asking lots of questions instead.

He remembers that it quickly became clear Dave and his family were "up for the scrap," or the fight against the disease (the location of Dave's cancer has never been publicly shared by his family,) and Si needed to find where he sat within that.

"My role as his friend was to support that endeavour- it didn't matter what I thought, or the route I personally would have taken, it was about supporting him," he says.

Reflecting on continuing life after Dave's death, Si shares, "It's different, very different, because were part of a double act and we always took each other into consideration."

He adds, "However that manifested itself, we always did that for each other - it's just different Davina."

The presenter also reflects on his own experience with serious illness, when Davina asks him about the aneurysm he had in 2014. During that year, he suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm that resulted in a brain haemorrhage, and he came close to death.

Si reveals he no longer recognises the man he was when the aneurysm happened, sharing, "I was loved, but I caused quite a lot of pain and anguish," saying it took him three to four afterwards to look back on the person he was before it happened, and ask, "Who in god's name was that?"

He says, "It had a profound effect on my family," and he and his wife Jane divorced a couple of years after the brain injury occurred. He does say they are now "great mates" and he "adores" his former wife, but they had to work hard to be amicable with each other.

"Divorce is like a marriage and it's all about compromise," he says in another poignant statement, concluding, "It's about being adult about it and understanding where you went wrong - it was never anybody's fault, it just broke."

Bennifer might not have lasted as a power couple, but there’s still plenty of love and respect between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.

The pair are something of a modern day Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Their romance started in the early 2000s, with the pair getting engaged but never making it down the aisle. Then nearly 20 years later, they rekindled the romance and tied the knot, with their marriage lasting between 2022 and 2024.

Proving that a divorce doesn’t have to turn lovers into enemies, Ben has recently praised Jennifer as "extraordinary", sharing the "enormous amount of respect and admiration" he holds for her and acknowledging that she taught him a lot over the years.

Appearing on the podcast, The Moment with Jorge and Paola Ramos, Ben expanded on comments he made in an interview with Variety recently, telling the hosts it would be hard "to sum up the things I got to learn from knowing Jennifer and witnessing her."

He shared, "I think to understand Jennifer Lopez, honestly, is to understand somebody who really is a pioneer who did things when he was told they’re not possible and you’re not welcome and by kind of force of will."

He added, "in terms of professionally, watching her do what she does, I think that she’s exposed to a degree of criticism in which there is an implicit or at least subconscious double standard."

Continuing to heap praise on the singer/actress/entrepreneur, Ben continued, "I stand in enormous respect for what she’s been able to achieve, and she’s always done it by saying, ‘Even if nobody else believes in me, I’m going to bet on myself.’

"She’s also taken real risks, invested her own money, she’s done all the things that we’re told, ‘This is what great American entrepreneurs do.’ She’s done them to spectacular success and I have nothing but respect for her.

"She is probably the hardest working person that I’ve ever known."

Their marriage ended in 2024, but Ben revealed that there were many lessons from his time with her.

"I learned a lot, not just from her, but from her family and the people I got to know through them… She’s pretty extraordinary, and I’m not surprised at all to see her having ongoing success, and I wish it for her. She deserves it in every way."

Despite calling time on their romance, the pair continue to be in one another’s lives, often spotted attending events with each other’s children from previous relationships. Jennifer’s twins, Max and Emme, were from her marriage to singer Marc Anthony. Ben shares three children with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.

Piers Morgan storming off the set of Good Morning Britain is a moment that will go down in TV history. Following a heated debate with co-presenter Alex Beresford about Meghan Markle back in March 2021, Morgan left the seat he had sat alongside Susanna Reid for five years and never came back.

In episode 5 of our podcast, woman&home loves, our centenary issue cover star Susanna spoke to our editor-in-chief, Hannah Fernando, about her friendship with Piers following his infamous exit from GMB.

'When it all ended in tears, and he stormed off the programme, we did have a period of time - a very short period of time - where it was very fragile," Susanna told us. 'Because obviously it's been very emotional. But we very quickly patched it up.

'From there we have maintained a friendship because he's a really important person in my life. In that five years of GMB was very impactful for viewers, and he's also just great fun. You know, I just love hanging out with him.'

Susanna also explained how she first felt when they met and the depth of their friendship. 'I didn't know him before he came to work alongside me on Good Morning Britain in 2015. I knew of him, and when I was told he was going to be the co-presenter, I remember taking my microphone off, going to the dressing room with my editor and going 'what on earth are you doing?

'He's one of those presenters - one of those journalists - who has international name recognition. I was lucky to work alongside him. Not least because he taught me so much about journalism, the way you question people. He was like a dog with a bone when it came to interviewing politicians. He was utterly ruthless. But I learned a lot about being persistent and being determined and I'm very grateful to him.'

As Lorraine Kelly looks back on 2026, it is clear that it has been very much a year of two halves. In January, she tragically lost her dad after he had a heart attack, thought to have happened after he slipped on ice near his East Kirkbride home. She admits that she now tries to focus on the “funny” memories they had together.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, her daughter Roise got married to her partner Steve in a glorious ceremony outside of Dunblane. “I disappeared to the loo and to protect my eye make-up, I leaned forward to let the tears fall out of my eyes. Getting control of myself was impossible,” she says.

So Christmas this year for the 66-year-old daytime TV star will be a time of reflection but also celebration - although one thing has changed slightly, those celebrations may not be as alcohol-heavy as they once might have been. “Some people deal with bereavement by not eating, but I ate for comfort. I found solace in chocolate. I was eating too much and, frankly, drinking too much at weekends,” she says.

“In April, I had a good, long look at myself, and I’ve now cut out chocolate and drinking, I swim every day and, since April, I’ve been going to an over-55s gym twice a week. The workouts are all about building muscle, confidence, balance and strength, and it’s made all the difference.”

“Judging by how my clothes fit, I think I’ve lost a stone and a half. I was a size 14, pushing a 16, and I’m now what I call a size 11! Steve’s changed too. In April, when he tried on his kilt, which he wore to our wedding, he couldn’t fasten it. Before, he had a belly with a man at the end of it and now the belly’s gone!”

“Over the years I’ve lost weight then gone down a slippery slope, thinking, ‘One wee bit of chocolate isn’t going to hurt.’ Then suddenly your head’s in the biscuit tin. I’ve worked hard to get rid of this and to get healthy, so I hope this is now me forever.”

However, she will be allowing herself a Bucks Fizz when she opens presents with husband Steve on Christmas morning, and a glass of champagne as she talks to her friend Joyce on Christmas Day evening.

This year also saw her eponymous ITV show Lorraine cut to just half an hour amid a range of changes from the channel’s daytime offering. While initially upset that she was losing staff and having her airtime cut down, she now thinks of it as a positive move.

“I have the best job in TV. I’m still there, still enjoying it, we’re still doing well and I still give it 100%, but [time off] allows me to do other things, like Lorraine Kelly’s Norwegian Odyssey on Channel 4.

“My show being cut was a blessing in disguise – if I was doing five days a week, 50 weeks a year, I wouldn’t have had those chances. It has opened up so many opportunities – travel shows, writing my third novel, a newspaper column and a podcast – which is great because I can really be unleashed, and I like being unleashed!” Long may it continue.

Former model and TV chef Lorraine Pascale has now shifted her career focus to study for a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy.

Her thesis is on feeling safe in relationships, and she's specialising in coercive control as part of her studies, after being a victim of this type of abuse herself.

Lorraine recently appeared on the Second Act podcast to share her experience and offer advice to women who recognise they are in a controlling relationship and aren't sure what to do.

She explains that her abusive relationship wasn't made public and the press didn't know about who it was with. "I do consider myself to be strong, and not to be the person to get into those type of relationships," she says.

Lorraine adds that coercive control is "stealth - it's so subtle, it's so persuasive, it's so enticing, but then ultimately it's really dangerous."

She continues, "For those of you who watch true crime, you'll see that so many of the homicides started as coercive relationships."

Sharing the "best advice" she was given when she became a victim of coercion, Lorraine says, "Write everything down that happens," although acknowledges this can be difficult.

If a person being controlled is concerned about writing things down that might be found, Lorraine shares, "I know people who will send a text to a friend and then delete the text, so the friend can keep the record."

She says that "people don't understand just how easy it is" to get into a controlling relationship, and how just as hard it is to get out once someone recognises what is happening.

Lorraine likens the "intermittent reward" of controlling relationships as "addictive" and like "slot machines."

She explains, "You lose, you lose, you lose and then you win - and the win feels so good, and is so addictive."

Lorraine also calls not just for women to be educated about how to spot and get out of abusive partnerships, but also for men to be educated to prevent it happening.

"We need education for men, men in the workplace, for boys, everything, because it's just not there," she says.

Speaking about the practice of "love bombing," which is where a new partner showers someone with extreme affection, attention and grand gestures to gain control, Lorraine says manipulative tactic can feel "delicious."

"They're listening to me, they're buying me gifts, they're all over me," she says to demonstrate what can go through people's minds when they're being love bombed.

"A red flag means get out, don't think about it," she says, but understands this can be easy to say and difficult to actually do.

Vanessa Feltz has never shied away from honesty, usually offering candid answers to questions about her personal life.

The presenter has made it quite clear in recent years that she is looking for romance, but it sadly seems to be eluding her.

Vanessa was previously married to orthopaedic surgeon Michael Kurer. After getting wed in 1985, the couple divorced in 2000 - they share grown-up daughters, Saskia and Allegra, and Vanessa is now a doting grandmother of four.

She later entered into a long-term relationship with singer Ben Ofoedu, who was 10 years her junior. They spent 16 years together until reports of Ben's alleged infidelity came to light in 2023 and the partnership came to an end.

Recently appearing on the New Chapters Podcast with Isabel Webster, Vanessa shares her experience of loneliness, the challenges of dating over 60, and what she really misses from being in a relationship.

After her Channel 5 talk show was cancelled earlier this year, the broadcaster invested her own money into a brand-new YouTube venture and about to become her own boss, is busier than ever.

When asked if she stays busy because she doesn't "like being alone" and whether she's still in her "heartbreak era," Vanessa replies, "I certainly am in the era of wondering whether when you get to certain age, all the decent men are dead or dying or snapped up."

Either that, or they're "just very very keen to be with a woman of 32," the presenter says. Some people have told her dating is a "numbers game," and she just needs to "keep going" with going on dates, but Vanessa isn't sure this will ever get her the result she wants.

Dating apps are also off limits because "if I did, whoever in a branch of Wetherspoons would definitely text every one of their friends and say, 'Oh my god, it was that Vanessa Feltz off the telly'" if they dated her.

"I've got four grandchildren, that's not particularly dignified and I don't fancy it," she explains. Her current strategy is being set up by friends, but she says when this happens it's usually "absolutely terrible."

Explaining why, she shares that she often thinks "how could you have thought that I would like that old cream cracker of a fellow" during the date, while later having to thank the friend for setting it up.

"It is quite soul destroying," she says of the continuous round of unsuccessful dates and being by herself when she wants somebody to share her life with.

Despite the challenges she faces, Vanessa says she still "totally believes" in love. Also revealing that it might just be a "stupid fantasy," she shares what she misses from being in a relationship and what she hopes to get from a new one.

"I just want somebody who reads the Sunday Times review section and turns to me and says, 'Oh you know there's an exhibition of Degas sculptures and shall we go?'"

"Is that such a big deal?" she asks of her simple request. describing what the date to the sculptures might look like, she continues, "We go and we stroll have hand in hand and have lunch, and afterwards we have great sex and have a great conversation," she says.

Once again questioning why that might be too much to ask, she says, "What's wrong with that? That's absolutely the dream."

Listing the qualities she's looking for in a future partner, Vanessa shares, "I like somebody who's a kindred spirit, an interested, interesting person who I would have fun with. That's really it."

Knowing she might not get the chance to find that person, the presenter concludes sadly, "I hate the thought that they might not exist."

Anita Rani is usually private when it comes to her personal life, and would ordinarily describe herself as "not an anxious person."

However, when she was hit by a very sudden, "crippling" and "world ending" anxiety, the broadcaster made the decision to publicly share what was happening.

One time when the feeling struck, Anita tells The Times, "I was running in my local park when suddenly I burst into tears, which for someone who releases tears mainly through songs and movies is a new experience."

She says the emotions came "out of nowhere," leaving her feeling "so overwhelmed that tears started flowing down my face."

Not recognising herself, she asked, "Who was this woman?" revealing this was "the latest in a series of incidents" that showed she wasn't feeling quite right.

When the same thing happened again during another run, Anita immediately uploaded a quick video to her Instagram account to tell her followers what she was going through.

She captioned it, "Not my usual kind of post - but something I really wanted to share in case anyone else is feeling similar.

"Recorded while out and about doing the thing that has always made sense for my mental health - going for a run." The video gave details of the challenging experience, and the presenter was instantly flooded with support from both the public, and fellow celebrities.

Explaining just how unexpected her feelings were, Anita shares, "I’m not an anxious person. Stepping into anxiety-inducing situations is part of the job," saying that she thrives on the "buzz" and confidence is something that "comes easy to me."

To be hit with "catastrophising" and "worrying constantly" made her feel like "the world was ending."

Anita also describes that outside of her runs, a "destructive little voice" in her head made her question ability in her working life - if she was the right person to be interviewing "smart women" and making her ask of herself, "What is the point of any of it?."

Candidly, Anita shares that in that moment, she decided to make her experience public because life felt "meaningless and exhausting," and her "coping mechanisms had deserted me."

Feeling lost "in a moment of crisis," the presenter says the was overwhelmed by the number of messages she received, and how positive it felt to be "scooped up by strangers."

Of the well-known names to comment, Zoe Ball wrote under the Instagram post, "Oh darling girl. It is so overwhelming when it comes, I hear you. It was by far my biggest symptom with menopause and undid me quite a bit. Sending you so much love."

One of the reasons Anita felt blindsided by her symptoms was because she'd grown up in an environment where "the inner workings of the female body" weren't spoken about, and she was unprepared for what might happen during menopause.

She reveals being dismissed by doctors after suffering what she thought were perimenopause symptoms in her late 30s, eventually being told just to get therapy.

Anita has previously tried and then stopped HRT, but is now going to give it another go. The presenter says she's "willing to try anything" to ease her anxiety symptoms, and will "take all the mushrooms and mantras that are thrown at me."

She's not ready to give up alcohol quite yet though. "There is no way I will surrender my Friday night champagne. It’s taken me years of graft to become champagne woman," she says.

The Celebrity Traitors is well underway, and Celia Imrie's fart is a thing of the past as Richard E. Grant became the first person in history to immediately out himself as a Traitor on the show, and the nation can't get enough of Ross Kemp's paranoia every time someone breathes in his direction.

However, Richard was once nearly given a run for his money by the host of all versions of the brilliant show, Claudia Winkleman.

In an absolutely heart-stopping confession, Claudia reveals she one time came perilously close to giving away the Traitors' identities during a very tense round table moment.

The presenter discussed what happened during a clip of her appearance on Elizabeth Day's How To Fail podcast, that has recently been re-shared.

Claudia explains that while she's present at the round table, she "knows too much" and needs to keep her distance from the players and "melt into the wall" during discussions.

But one year, while observing the action, she had an urgent message come through her earpiece. The earpiece is something she usually wears for those "just in case" moments and the team behind the scenes "never really talk" to Claudia through it as there isn't the need.

On this occasion, two Traitors "turned on another Traitor," and a voice came through to Claudia's ear to say, "Watch your breathing."

She recalls that she knew instantly, "This is not nothing," to be given a message like that, and that the crew must've seen her breathing change so noticeably that they believed she could give the game away with it.

Luckily, the warning came through in time, and nobody noticed the presenter's altered breathing and change in demeanour, and the game played out normally.

During the podcast, the presenter also reveals her initial trepidation to take on being host of The Traitors, despite really wanting to do it.

"I knew I wanted to do it, but they said, 'Can you go to Inverness for three weeks?'" Claudia says of the initial conversations she had about joining the series.

Her response was very her. "I was like, 'You don't seem to understand I don't leave my bed, it's a no,'" was her first reaction to being asked to spend time filming in Scotland.

After producers got her to watch the Dutch version of the show, Claudia instantly changed her mind about presenting the UK version and became "obsessed" by the episodes she was sent as a taster of what she'd be expected to do as host.

But still, she was unsure what the British reaction to the series would be. "I literally got on a train to Inverness holding some red leather gloves and a cloak," she recalls.

At that moment, she thought maybe agreeing to present The Traitors was about to end her career.

Sharing the thoughts she had on that train journey, Claudia reveals she told herself, "It's all over, night night, you've had a really good run." She even phoned her husband to say, "Right, we're going to have to rethink everything."

Of course, the star didn't have to rethink anything at all, because The Traitors and its spin-offs have been a phenomenal success and a lot of that is down to Claudia's approach to her role - even if she did once nearly do something as potentially disastrous as give away who the Traitors were.

As Netflix's smash-hit political thriller The Diplomat hits our screens for season 4, all eyes are on its leading lady, Keri Russell.

As well as being interested in her brilliant acting abilities, fans are also keen to know more about the actress's life away from the cameras, with particular intrigue falling on her relationship with Welsh actor Matthew Rhys.

The couple have been together for 13 years - they met at a party in their 20s but nothing came of it, despite Matthew hoping for a date. They reconnected when they were both cast in The Americans a decade later.

By the time they got together, Keri had already been married and two children. In 2016, after three years of dating, they welcomed a child of their own named Sam.

After so many years together, Keri candidly speaks out to say why they haven't tied the knot, saying she "loves" not being married, and that it's "fun."

Speaking on the Dear Chelsea podcast, Keri explains, "I've had a big party, I get to dress up all the time.

I know for a lot of people, marriage is something different - people used to have to be married to get a credit card - we can have credit cards now."

She continues, "I don't need my last name to go away. If you want to be here, be here, if you don't, that's cool too."

When host Chelsea Handler shares that she finds being in a long-term relationship with someone "sexier" than being married, Keri wastes no time in agreeing, "Me too."

Keri also says firmly, "We have kids - that's forever," adding that to her, the idea of marriage just feels "antiquated" and "patriarchal."

The actress also addresses the huge furore that surrounded Matthew winning big at the Emmys and not acknowledging her in his speeches - he made history by becoming the first actor to win two lead acting prizes in one night, being named best lead actor in a limited series for The Beast In Me, then taking the trophy for best lead actor in a comedy for Widow's Bay.

While the focus should have been on his incredible achievements, the attention instead fell on speculating why Keri was left out of his speeches.

It turns out, this was deliberate and something the couple had decided on before the ceremony. Explaining that Matthew had been very nervous about potentially having to speak in front of so many people, Keri had told him to "take me off your plate."

"I know you love me, you don't have to thank me," she'd said to him. Revealing the level of pressure people can be under when making acceptance speeches, Keri shares that when Matthew won a few years ago for The Americans, people "still give him a hard time" for not saying their name during his speech.

With "so many people to thank," the actress simply wanted to give her partner one less thing to think about, and fewer names to remember.

"I don't care if you want to thank the dog walker, do whatever you want to do," she says, once again insisting that nobody gets to dictate who gets mentioned in another person's speech.

She concludes by saying that their life together is "private," and a speech is "for the business people" - those directly involved in the production of a winning show, and she doesn't need a mention just because they happen to be together.

The Diplomat is back for season 4, and audiences have been counting down to the return of one of the sharpest political thrillers ever made.

In the era of shows being quickly cancelled, the fact that Debora Cahn's series has made it to a fourth outing proves just how good it is - and we can't wait to re-join Kate and Hal Wyler, and President Grace Penn and Todd Penn, to see how they handle the aftermath of the potentially catastrophic decisions made during season 3.

The Diplomat season 3 recap

The first key and shocking plot point from season 3 was Margaret Roylin's death. The fallout from her demise is felt throughout the season, and she died as a result of her role in the HMS Courageous explosion.

Across seasons 1 and 2, Kate realised Margaret's part in the explosion and the following cover-up, and by season 3, Prime Minister Trowbridge also found out about her connection to the attack.

Margaret was offered asylum in America, but instead of further betraying her country, chose to take her own life at the end of episode 1.

Grace Penn was also involved in the attack, and season 3 saw her become President when President Rayburn died. She entered the role knowing she had a part in setting the attack in motion, which killed 43 people, and dealing with her feelings about it.

She believed the tragedy would maintain the strength of the UK and ensure America’s nuclear safety along with it. She felt guilty for what she did, but still ultimately stands by the feeling she made the right choice.

Kate decided the best way to handle the aftermath of the attack was to pin it on President Rayburn, as he was no longer alive to defend himself.

When Grace entered the White House as the new president, another huge storyline, and one fans are unlikely to have forgotten from season 3, unfolded: Kate was overlooked for a massive promotion which ultimately went to Hal.

Kate was the frontrunner for the role of Vice President and in a shocking move, Grace chose Hal for the role.

This was largely because his ruthless decision making and unsanctioned diplomacy aligned with her own style of governance. She believed he could strengthen her administration, despite Kate being the best person for the job.

Kate responded to this news by agreeing to be Second Lady publicly, while deciding to privately stay in London as ambassador rather than being side-lined as her husband's career flourished.

Prioritising herself, she not only wanted distance from her husband, but also from the harsh burn of being overlooked for the Vice Presidency. Kate also kept her role in the Foreign Service because she passionately believed there was still plenty of work to be done in London.

Separated both by distance and also emotionally, Kate embarked on an ill-fated attempt at a dalliance with Foreign Secretary Dennison, and a full-blown affair with intelligence officer Callum Ellis while away from Hal in the British capital.

Kate and Hal weren't the only ones having marriage problems, with Todd also seemingly unhappy in his role as First Gentleman - he grew suspicious of whether his wife could be having an affair with Hal with little to do but be jealous of the time they spent together.

Todd adores his wife, and while there was nothing going on between her and Hal, they have a professional dynamism and similar sense of humour that exudes chemistry to anyone seeing them together.

He felt threatened that his wife could be fulfilled by someone else, even if it isn't romantic in nature - his paranoia resulted in childish behaviour when it came to the working relationship Grace had with her colleague.

Next up is something that is crucial to remember before watching season 4, and that's the Poseidon missile debacle.

Callum Ellis revealed during season 3 that a nuclear weapon called the Poseidon was on a Russian submarine submerged just off the English coast. Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge formed a plan to work with China to remove the submarine, a decision Grace argued heavily against.

Hal and Kate, deciding to give their marriage another go by the end of the season, convinced Trowbridge to get the US on board to get rid of the weapon, rather than collaborate with China. The plan was for the Poseidon to be buried under the sea and caged in concrete, but it was stolen before anyone could get to it.

While the theft was blamed on Russia, Kate worked out moments before the end of the finale that it was actually Grace and Hal who had stolen it - this will not end well for the newly reunited couple.

It turned out the President and vice President wanted the torpedo for themselves because they didn't want it falling into the wrong hands, even though the decision to take it could already have dire political consequences.

But having such a potentially catastrophic weapon to be used for American intelligence was an opportunity they couldn't pass up, despite their actions pushing the UK and US the closest to war they've ever been.

We can't wait to see how the fallout from this is handled during season 4.

David and Victoria Beckham are one of the most powerful and glamorous showbiz couples in the world, but their fairy-tale-like romance did not have fairy-tale beginnings. In fact, it started in car parks.

Victoria revealed the pair’s rather unexpected and unconventional first date location while appearing on the US talk show, Today with Jenna and Sheinelle. Discussing singer Olivia Rodrigo’s comments about how difficult dating can be when in the public eye, Victoria said, "I can totally relate."

"The advice that we were given was to just try and keep things under wraps. And actually, we had quite a few first dates in car parks." She was quick to add, "Not as seedy as it sounds".

"My mum would drop me off and I would get in David's car and we would just spend hours just talking just getting to know each other privately before anybody knew that we were dating. "

And from those humble car park beginnings, Victoria shared how the couple are to this day, with the fashion designer jokingly taking credit for David Beckham's pert backside.

When the conversation moved on to the trending topic of "glutemaxxing", Victoria joked with the hosts, "I have to say my husband has always had a great butt, but I am very happy to take the responsibility. I work out with him in the gym, make sure he's doing those squats for everybody out there."

She even shared one of the best exercises - pushbacks - and it might be worth adding to the workout plan.

Victoria and David have made it work, and her advice for other celebrities is "to find a really good car park."

It remains to be seen if the likes of Olivia Rodrigo will take up the advice, but it might be worth considering. Victoria and David have been married for 27 years, after all.

The pair were first romantically linked back in early 1997, when David was playing football for Manchester United and the-then Victoria Adams was best known to the world as Posh Spice.

Engaged in 1998, the pair would get married in July 1999 during a lavish ceremony at Luttrellstown Castle in Dublin.

Writing for British Vogue, Victoria has described the romcom-worthy moment the two met, declaring it was love at first sight.

As one of the UK’s biggest beauty moguls, Trinny Woodall continues to empower women both with her products and through leading by example - showing what is possible when a woman turns everything she’s learnt in the past into a thriving second chapter after 50.

But her journey hasn’t been without blemishes. Trinny’s products might be about looking perfect on the outside, but she’s not afraid of going beneath the surface.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on Saga’s Experience is Everything podcast, Trinny opened up about overcoming a drug addiction after losing four of her closest friends to the disease, the 16 rounds of IVF she went through to conceive her daughter, Lyla, and how she chooses not to focus on the regrets of those struggles.

One of the tough chapters she faced was her battle with cocaine addiction in her 20s. What started as "a crutch, it filled a hole" became something much darker.

She shared, "I took cocaine and it made me feel confident. I was quite shy when I was younger and it took away that shyness. And then it starts to lead your life. You don’t lead it in your life. And then it was not recreational. It sort of controlled how I turned up for the day, how I turned up as a person."

She continued, "In the first two years of my being clean, my four closest friends died from the results of addiction. And I think it made it very clear for me what would happen if I picked up again."

From overcoming addiction to establishing herself with her TV career alongside friend Susannah Constantine, Trinny’s other defining milestone was becoming a mother - something which did not come without its battles.

Trinny, who has daughter Lyla, went through 16 rounds of IVF, admitting that "it takes over your whole life".

She added, "Somebody the other day said to me, ‘Why didn’t you have more children?

"I did many rounds of IVF and I lost some babies. I sort of hovered in this world where it would never happen, but I’d never not get pregnant. And then all through my pregnancy with Lyla, I had times when I bled and I did have times when I thought I’d lost her… The whole pregnancy was quite stressful."

Despite everything, Trinny wants the takeaway to be positive. “I don’t regret at all that I went through it. I regret things that happened, but I also don’t love the word regret.

"I don’t actually think it’s at all healthy to regret in life because then you’re mourning the loss of something where there’s nothing you can do about it and I think it’s an uncomfortable place to sit.

"You move forward, right? I didn’t always. I had many years of my life where I thought, if I’d done that differently or if I did this differently, and it takes up so much space in your brain when you keep going over."

As for what's next, the CEO of Trinny London is happy exactly where she is. Speaking about the journey to launching her company in her 50s, she said, "I felt it would happen, but because I couldn’t visually picture it really well, it didn’t happen until I was 51.

"I think you need to have such clarity. And also you need things not to fuzz your vision."

Lesley Joseph is well known to generations of fans as a talented actress and broadcaster, with a stage and screen career that spans over 60 years.

While many will remember the star for her role as Dorien Green in the long-running BBC sitcom Birds of a Feather, she's appeared in a number of high-profile roles and been nominated for an Olivier Award for her theatre work.

Approaching the age of 81, Lesley says she has no plans to slow down or retire, and still has plenty of energy.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on her chat show, Lesley says of life, "I just can't believe it, it's gone so quickly."

She continues, "I don't think I'd ever thought about age until I got to 80, and then it was like, 'Oh my goodness, help'".

The actress explains that she still likes to keep fit, saying she "walks everywhere" and likes to do exercises at home to stay well.

"My body will tell me when to slow down, and it's not there yet," she says with her signature brand of honesty.

Lesley is just about to appear in Billy Elliot the Musical when it returns to the West End at the Adelphi Theatre in London. From 12 February next year, she'll take on the role of Grandma in the show.

Set in the mid-1980s, the musical follows a young boy named Billy, who secretly pursues his passion for dancing while facing resistance at home and from his working class community.

Speaking about the show, Lesley says, "There are about four moments that make me cry every time I watch it, it's extraordinary."

Praising the rest of the cast, the actress shares, "The children in it - they're tapping and they're acting - we've got wonderful Billys and it's a glorious show."

Explaining how busy she's been this year, Lesley says that she was in Road, a Jim Cartwright play. "I played a very, very old woman in that," she shares.

The audience are shown a picture of Lesley in the play, and she looks worlds away from her usual, glamorous appearance, and is shown to be very vulnerable and frail, with none of the usual makeup and dark hair she's known for.

"I'm getting older as an actress, so I'm going to do parts that fit me," she says of portraying an elderly woman in Road, and now the grandma in Billy Elliot.

When the segment from the conversation was shared to Instagram, many fellow performers as well as the public had praise for Lesley.

Actress Kacey Ainsworth commented, "You are wonderful Lesley, anyone who has worked with you knows how talented, funny and brilliant you are."

One fan wrote, "She is amazing, I love her energy and her vibe," with another adding, "Very inspiring. She's a talented actress, and has such an amazing distinctive voice when narrating."

From Shakespeare to shaken, not stirred, Dame Judi Dench has been a singular presence across film, theatre and television - and the good news is she has no plans to retire any time soon.

In fact, she wants to work right up until the end. And she means that literally. As she explains in her new autobiography, Is It Too Late to Make a Run for It? as serialised in The Times, the acting legend wants to die in her dressing room after finishing a show.

When describing why she won’t retire, Judi shares in the upcoming book, "'Retire', 'vintage', 'old' - let’s banish those words. I want to be like Newton Blick, who died in his dressing room after a performance."

Working right up until her final bow isn’t the only goal the 91-year-old has in mind. She added, "I want to be one of those women who throw themselves out of planes when they’re 100."

For Dame Judi, getting older has only brought one benefit - "They give you a dressing room nearer the stage. Otherwise, forget it. And you have to contend with people asking, ‘When are you going to retire?’ or, ’Isn’t it about time you put your feet up?’ No, it bloody well isn’t."

It’s this attitude, plus her work in the likes of James Bond, Cranford, As Time Goes By and her stage work that has made her an undeniable national treasure… just don’t call her that to her face.

When asked by the biography’s co-writer, her friend Brendan O’Hea, about her reputation as one of Britain’s beloved treasures, Judi explained that she actually "loathes" the title.

Why? "Makes me sound like a dusty old relic that’s been stuffed away in the back of the cupboard, along with some dinosaur fossils and a broken Roman shield."

Despite reassuring fans that she’ll continue to work, the Shakespeare in Love legend also opened up more about the impact her failing eyesight has had on her. Judi has previously explained how she’s "not far away" from being completely blind as she suffers from macular degeneration.

Describing how she copes, she explained, "I’m quite good at acting as if I can see. But then people think I’m cutting them dead when I don’t smile or recognise them.

"I’ve had to find a different method of learning lines because even with the script blown up, I struggle. It’s made me realise I have a photographic memory and so not being able to see the pattern of words on the page makes things really difficult.

"Friends now help and, provided I’m given enough time in advance to prepare, I can somehow muddle through."

Time season 3 has been just as challenging yet important viewing as the previous outings of Jimmy McGovern's anthology series.

This time, the setting is a young offender institution full of boys locked up for hours a day, many under the "keep apart" system that stops inmates likely to be violent to each other leaving their cells at the same time.

David Tennant is brilliant as Bobby Bailey, worn down by his job as corrections officer, while still having compassion for the young boys in his care.

Siobhan Finneran, the only person to have appeared in all three seasons, has been equally incredible as prison chaplain Marie-Louise, a woman who has lost her faith and is no longer certain what she can bring to her role to help the incarcerated.

The young inmates offer an uncomfortable glimpse at the violence men and boys can be capable of, drawing parallels with Adolescence while forcing viewers to confront a broken prison system that needs a real world overhaul.

As viewers reach the final episode of season 3, we look at what happened to each of the characters by the time the credits roll, and whether Bobby eventually tells the truth about the big secret he's holding onto.

Time season 3 ending explained

At the start of the Time season 3 finale, Bobby is out to dinner with Nicola. At the start of the series his marriage to wife Erica was on the rocks, and she eventually left him.

Finding some semblance of happiness with Nicola while exhausted by his job at the young offender institute, viewers are quickly reminded during their date that Bobby is hiding multiple secrets.

When the pair are served by a former inmate who recognises Bobby, the youngster asks if the officer knows about Fred Jennings' tactic of punching the boys in the stomach so that people can't see their injuries. Bobby insists he knows nothing about it.

He's also been hiding the fact he knows Fred played a part in the death of Christopher/Ushindo. Despite being on the "keep apart" list and needing to be separated from the violent Patsy Flynn, Fred organised a meeting between the pair under the guise of helping them reconcile.

Coming from rival areas and with Patsy having a history of doing whatever he wanted without giving it a second thought, Bobby hadn't wanted the meeting to go ahead.

He was proved tragically correct when Fred left the boys unsupervised and Patsy stabbed and killed Ushindo. Bobby then made a promise to Fred that he'd keep what happened quiet, in exchange for a promotion.

However, the truth weighs heavily on Bobby, and he eventually confides in Nicola what really happened to Ushindo. Horrified, she ends their relationship and pushes for Ushindo’s mum to be given the truth about how her son had died.

Realising that his relationship with Nicola means more to him than a promotion and fed up with burying dreadful truths, Bobby confesses everything he knows during the inquest - he reveals how Fred made the serious error of leaving the boys alone, and how he'd been bribed to help cover up what had really happened to Ushindo.

However, while me might've been hoping that telling the truth would lead to a reconciliation with Nicola, she dies in a shocking car crash and any chance of a future for the pair comes to an abrupt and tragic end.

What happens to Marie-Louise?

Marie-Louise gets a much happier ending than Bobby. Things looked bleak for her at the start of the season, when she was broken-hearted after her relationship had come to an end.

The chaplain had fallen in love and started an affair with a Catholic priest named Michael. When their relationship was discovered by the Bishop, they were forced to end it and Michael was relocated.

Devastated and suffering a crisis of faith, Marie-Louise expected to lose her job when she admits how she's really feeling.

But an elder chaplain makes her realise how much the system needs her, and her woes continue into her work life as she struggles against the broken system.

However, right at the very end of the finale, Michael returns and the pair decide they can continue doing good things for those who need them the most, but on their own terms.

On that note, the couple head off to live in Toxteth, running a safe house for asylum seekers.

What happens to Peter and James?

While the likes of Patsy won't get a happy ending (deservedly, after his unrepentant demeanour in the aftermath of killing Ushindo and evident desire to "own the block" above all else,) Peter fares a little better. James still faces a level of uncertainty by the end of the episode.

Both youngsters had struggled with being locked up, and like Bobby, Peter had a secret weighing heavily on him.

He'd been involved in the death of an innocent man, but it was his cousin Toby who'd actually carried out the fatal stabbing that ended the man's life.

Loyalty and familial bonds stopped Peter from telling the truth, but this ended with the whole group going to prison, instead of the real perpetrator.

Ultimately, Peter also opted to tell the truth, and he was found not guilty at his trial and released. This meant he could resume his relationship with his partner and watch his young baby grow up.

James was incarcerated for killing his disabled brother, and the circumstances surrounding his motives were deliberately left murky and open to interpretation.

His brother was wheelchair and oxygen dependent, and James claims he wanted to end his suffering, and that his brother was in agreement with the plan to end his life.

He also admits to being jealous and resentful of the attention his brother received, which brings his real motive into question.

His mother finds it in herself to forgive James, but his father is unable to have the same grace, and is also dying from cancer.

In the finale, James is transferred to an adult prison to finish his sentence, knowing he'll never get the chance to repair his relationship with his father and having to face the consequences of what he did to his brother.

Debbie McGee was married to magician Paul Daniels for 28 years, until his death from a brain tumour in 2016.

The pair met in 1979 when former dancer Debbie joined one of Paul's shows as his assistant. The couple later married in Buckinghamshire, nine years after they first met.

Recently, Debbie has opened up about loss, and how her life looks in the years since her husband's death.

In conversation with Lorraine Kelly on her talk show, Debbie reveals a key piece of advice given to her by a grief counsellor when Paul died, that she's never forgotten.

"For anyone out there that's going through grief, a grief counsellor once said to me, 'We used to think that grief fades with age and time,'" Debbie begins.

Explaining further, she shares the counsellor told her "But now we believe your grief stays the same size as the day they died, you just have to build a bigger life around it."

As Lorraine praises the analogy, Debbie continues, "I totally believe that, because the more you do, you have less of your brain to think about recalling the time with them."

Debbie shares that she returned to work quickly after Paul's death, to continue "grabbing life by the scruff of the neck."

"You can choose your moments to recall them," she says of her strategy of keeping busy, and 10 years later, is celebrating the fact she has "kept going."

Speaking about Paul and whether or not she's ready to find love again, Debbie recently told The Mirror that she still has a lot of her husband's possessions.

"To be honest, I've still got loads, especially clothes. I sold quite a lot of tricks two or three years ago and I'm going to have another sale later this year," she says.

Debbie adds, "I've given odd bits to the family, but there's a wardrobe upstairs that's just crammed with costumes. That's one of the hardest things - to let go of their things feels like you're letting go of the person."

She reveals that she's had a couple of relationships, but hasn't found anything serious yet. "I've had a few boyfriends since Paul died, and they've been lovely, but they haven’t been serious," she says, adding, "So far love hasn't happened. So, you know, watch this space."

She still feels that Paul is around her, revealing that he "sends" feathers to remind her of him. "I feel Paul's presence everywhere. He's always with me," she says.

Debbie adds, "I see feathers everywhere and I look and say, ‘oh yeah, you're with me.’ I love the idea of the feathers and I would love to think it was true that they're letting you know they're thinking of you. It's a comfort."

When she spoke about how her conversation with the grief counsellor had shaped her life when appearing on Lorraine, the segment received a lot of comments when it was shared to Instagram

Season 4 of Blue Lights has been another absolute knockout. Even with the air of finality that came with the closing moments of episode 6, there was an assumption by fans that such a globally adored, award winning show would definitely be returning.

With further investigation, it appears that might not be the case. Cast member Katherine Devlin (Annie Conlon,) and several members of the team behind the hit police drama, seem to have dropped strong hints that season 4 was the end of the road.

While nothing has been confirmed, Katherine shared a picture of her character Annie to Instagram recently, with the caption, "In life change is inevitable. But there’s the kind we endure and then there’s the kind we make. And I’d like to think that between these walls, we made more than we endured.

Annie- Thank you for the good the bad and the ugly. Thank you for loving her just as much as I did." Well, that seems to be a goodbye message if ever we saw one, and it's not something the actress has ever posted before when a season has come to an end.

Commenters appeared to be equally worried Katherine was signing off from Blue Lights for good, with one writing, "Honestly, Katherine, I’m bereft! Incredible work. Stunning show. I miss all the characters already."

Another added, "I hope this doesn’t mean its the end of Blue Lights," with another saying what Katherine appeared to be implying, and writing, "Why does this feel like goodbye?"

It's not just Katherine who appears to suggest we might not see the show again, as Blue Lights co-creators Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson have confirmed they'll be "stepping back" from the series and will "take a beat" for a while.

In conversation with The Irish Times, Declan says, "Whatever iteration of the show happens afterwards, or whatever decision the BBC makes, great, but there’s a sense in which we definitely want to step back and look at it in the round."

Ominously, Adam steps in to add, "It’s the end of a chapter." He explains, "Declan says every season that it’s the best season, but I might finally agree with him. I think this season is really beautiful in many ways and will give people a lot of satisfaction in the end."

The duo have referred to the show as "quite an oppressive responsibility," and have only been able to film in certain areas on the condition the residents feel comfortable.

Declan says, "Everything we’ve done has had an element of risk. We’ve looked at nationalist gangsters, loyalist gangsters, cartels and the middle classes involved in trafficking and grooming.

Now we’re looking at crime against migrants and what’s behind it. So it’s both a wonderful thing to be able to do and also scary at times."

The pair have now written D Notice, a six-part conspiracy thriller for the BBC, also set in Belfast.

Still not confirming the future of Blue Lights but appearing to nod to other projects away from the show, Declan concludes, "Whatever we do, we have aspirations to keep Belfast as part of the story."

When you give it some consideration, the ending of season 4 was the first time most of the characters had been given complete endings, and story arcs spanning every series were wrapped up with seemingly neat bows.

Stevie and Grace were engaged, and Grace achieved her dream of landing the role of detective for child protection services. Most of the other officers accepted their fate that Blackthorn station was closing and they needed to relocate.

Although Gerry's death wasn't fully avenged, Tina and Mo McIntyre and their long-running saga tied to his shooting came to and, although not one fans were happy about.

Both were offered a new life under witness protection in exchange for helping take down Dana Morgan and the Ginley clan, allowing them to leave Belfast. Lee Thompson, who had turned up sporadically throughout the series, accepted a plea deal in exchange for his help in bringing down the Ginleys.

Dana Morgan was finally arrested, and Ginley operations dismantled after the cartel had managed to evade the police for so long.

We still have hope, but all of that really does seem all very final.

Anthea Turner has candidly shared that she once had therapy during a difficult time in her life, that allowed her to recognise unhealthy patterns she's repeated when it comes to relationships.

The presenter, 66, was married to DJ Peter Powell between 1990–1998. During her marriage, Anthea became involved in an affair with businessman Grant Bovey, which was highly publicised and the subject of huge tabloid speculation at the time.

Anthea married Grant in 2000, but the couple divorced in 2015 after Anthea claimed he was unfaithful. During their marriage, Anthea underwent IVF treatment which was ultimately unsuccessful.

While they were together she became a stepmother to Grant's three daughters, and they remain close to this day.

Reflecting on the aftermath of her divorce and what she learned for future relationships, Anthea tells OK! Magazine, "I've only ever once gone into therapy - it was very quick, when I was trying to untangle my divorce."

She continues, "I learnt that people have a pattern and tend to repeat it," going on to admit, "If I look back over the decades, yes, I am a pattern repeater."

Now in her later years, Anthea says she's "scrubbed-up" and "wiser than I was." Explaining what therapy did for her, she shares, "What I needed was the tools and somebody to give me an overview of myself that I couldn't see."

With age, experience and what she now knows about herself, Anthea is engaged to her businessman partner, Mark Armstrong and hoping to wed for a third time. The presenter sweetly refers to Mark as "a gift from the universe."

The couple have been together since 2019 after meeting in a nightclub - they got engaged after two months.

Anthea once told The Mirror of her rapid engagement, "We honestly knew straightaway it was something serious and that there was a great connection. It was all a bit quick and a bit crazy but sometimes those crazy moves work out."

Reflecting on her age, she explains, "It’s very different having a relationship when you’re older. You’re not thinking about buying a house or having children together.

"Instead you look at the best and happiest way to spend your remaining years on the planet."

Saying that love "doesn't have a sell-by date," Anthea adds, "I love to be with somebody. You don’t have to be doing anything in particular, it’s just nice that the other person’s in the house.

"It’s very easy to think those little things don’t matter, but they really do." Although the happy couple are yet to marry, Anthea says, "One day, we'll sort that out, most definitely."

Sharing what that special day might look like, she reveals, "I do love a wedding. It's got to be small, fun, and you've got to be surrounded by your mates."

The first two outings of BBC anthology series Time, were a hit with both critics and audiences around the world - and now season 3 has arrived.

Meera Syal became well known to audiences after writing and starring in shows such as Goodness Gracious Me and The Kumars at No 42.

As well as writing and acting, Meera is also a comedian, novelist and playwright and a mother of two - her second child was born when the actress was 44.

She shares her daughter Chameli with her first husband, Shekhar Bhatia, who came along when Meera was in her early 30s. Her son, Shaan was born in her current marriage to Sanjeev Bhaskar.

During a recent appearance on Davina McCall's Begin Again podcast, the actress reflects on the challenge of having a baby in her 40s, with a 12-year age gap between her children. The star also details the "mistake" she believes she made as a second time mother.

"It's a bit of a shocker having a late baby," Meera tells Davina, adding, "And I've got 12 years between my kids, and I'd forgotten everything."

Admitting she had to take a "step back" from work, the actress recalls, "It was a shock to the system - I'd even forgotten basic things like, when do they eat?"

Meera continues, "I made a mistake the second time around- the first time I went on instinct." She goes on to explain what she means by this.

She says that instinctive parenting was "a breeze," and she accepted "so much amazing advice" from her wider family to help her care for her baby.

However, the second time she chose to go with the advice of a "childcare expert who has never had a baby" and followed the Gina Ford method.

Gina Ford penned the 1999 bestseller, Contented Little Baby Book. Not only did the book encourage parents to get their children into rigid, parent-focussed feeding and sleeping schedules, Gina famously never had children of her own which made her highly debateable as someone authoring books on caring for newborns.

Instead of sticking to the controversial book fer her parenting advice, Meera says she once again returned to the family members who "had 28 children between them."

"Whatever works for you is whatever works for you," she says, saying the advice in the book "didn't work for me."

The actress suggests that whatever you're doing as a parent must "align with your gut," sharing that when she "went back to auntie instinct and gut [instinct], it all got a lot easier."

Meera reiterates once again, "But yes, it's a shocker having a late baby." She did have the advantage the second time around that she didn't have the first, which was being able to afford to pay for help. "I couldn't do that when I was younger," she says.

"The big win is, it's a baby!" Meera says joyfully, as people in the comments of the segment when it was shared to Instagram, shared their stories and experiences of later in life babies.

One person wrote, "I was 46 when I had my now three-year-old. I met my husband late, I was 41 and we were trying for years for a baby. When she came we were overjoyed. I was resting for 45 years previously, I was raring to go."

Another added, "I totally relate, I had my first child at 48 - it's exhausting but also liberating, he is my total world."

Adolescence star Stephen Graham is the perfect example of everything the multi-award winning series he starred in is trying to highlight.

The Netflix show astutely looks at the impact of the manosphere on men, and how it impacts their ability to be vulnerable and openly express their feelings.

Stephen however, never shies away from being sensitive, sharing that he's a person who "cries at the drop of a hat." The actor also easily shares his deep feelings of love for those close to him, especially his wife, Hannah.

During a recent appearance on Fern Cotton's Happy Place podcast, the actor said some heartwarming words about his wife, the actress Hannah Walters.

"I'm blessed, a lot of people will say I'm in a co-dependent relationship with Hannah," he quips, adding, "But that's ok."

He continues to say of his wife of 18 years (although they've been together over 30 years,) "I've landed on my feet there haven't I? She's phenomenal."

"She's wonderful," he continues, but explains, "It's a team game - she sacrificed a lot for me to be able to pursue my career.

"She put her career on hold, and for that, I am eternally grateful. She believed it would happen at some point."

Stephen explains that he nearly gave up acting to become a youth worker, but was encouraged by his wife and loved ones to keep going.

"You need that support around you," he says.

Stephen and Hannah met at drama school and share children Alfie and Grace together. During the actor's early 20s, he and Hannah were just good friends until she decided to move to Spain.

Speaking on Desert Island Discs in 2019, Stephen recalls seeing Hannah off for her new life at New Cross station. Just as she was about to leave, he said, "Please don’t go to Spain. I love you."

Hannah replied, "I’ve been waiting for five years for you to say that," and they moved in together the following day.

During his acceptance speech at the 2026 Golden Globes for the Best Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television award, he openly praised Hannah for "saving" him.

"I've said it before, but you've saved my life. You saved my life," he said, continuing, "And to my two beautiful children, Grace and Alfie, I love you to the moon and back forever."

Hannah appears to be equally enamoured with her husband. According to Hello! she once said, "I'm going to be honest – the secret is that it's me fancying my best mate. It's having butterflies in my tummy when I've been away from him for too long.

"It's still fancying the [expletive] off my husband, basically. I want to kill him at times… but I just adore him."

Despite Sarah Jessica Parker being just as stylish as her iconic Sex and the City character, she’s made it clear that the two aren’t anything alike - so much so, we’ll never see her in any of the old outfits.

From being a highlight of many Met Galas to some of her own daring styles over the years, it’s easy to assume Carrie's unique style rubbed off on SJP - and vice versa - but the Emmy winning star has insisted there’s a "huge separation" between the two.

When asked if we’d ever see her repurposing any of the clothes she’s kept from filming Sex and the City and its spin-off, And Just Like That, SJP was adamant that she’ll "never" wear it - and she never has.

She told People, "No, I don’t wear any of the wardrobe that I wore on the show ever. I have it. It’s an archive, but I never wear it. I never have."

She added that wearing any of Carrie’s costumes would be just as incredulous to her as walking around every day dressed like the witch she played in Disney’s Hocus Pocus.

She said, "There’s a huge separation between myself and Carrie Bradshaw. So it would be like walking around in Sarah Sanderson’s costume… It doesn’t seem applicable to my life."

Despite not wearing it, Sarah Jessica has previously revealed it was part of her contract that she gets to keep "every solitary thing" she wears on-screen.

She told Vogue, “I had all of the original stuff in my own storage. Furniture, clothes, everything, packed according to season and episode and scene. I kept every single solitary thing.”

In 2025, she appeared on Howard Stern’s radio show where she mentioned again how she uses her vast archive, and nodded to the cyclical nature of fashion allowing them to reuse looks for the spin-off.

"We use it every year on the show [And Just Like That]," she explained. "We keep bringing it back and we did it on the show originally. You'll change out the closet, you wear some of it again - some from ten, 15 years ago. It's really nice for the audience."

It’s only fair that people perhaps blur the boundaries between Sarah Jessica and Carrie Bradshaw - the actress played the protagonist for 27 years, spanning six seasons of the original series, two movies and three seasons of the spin-off.

While we might never see the real-life Sarah Jessica wearing any of Carrie’s clothes, it’s also possible we won’t see the character on our screens again anytime soon.

When SJP announced that season three of And Just Like That would be its last, she penned what felt like a final goodbye to Carrie.

Animals arrives at Netflix on October 9, but it's taken more than one attempt and several casting changes to get it there.

In the film, Ben Affleck stars as Mark Kimball, a Los Angeles mayoral candidate who is thrown into a web of deception along with his wife Abigail (Kerry Washington) when their son is kidnapped.

Rushing to pull together money for the ransom payment, the choices they make and secrets revealed could rip their world apart.

While the crime thriller will bring plenty of action, it's also an exploration of how a marriage can possibly survive something so drastic.

While writing the script, Ben tells EW he had several things on his mind that he wanted viewers to think about while watching.

"How do you maintain a relationship?" he asks, adding that he was questioning, "What does a marriage really require of us? How well can we know one another? And what happens to that bond when 'something so scary happens in your life' that you’re forced to re-evaluate those questions?"

Ironically, the concept of marriage was the the very awkward reason Jennifer Garner pulled out of the role of Abigail, and was replaced by Kerry Washington.

When Animals was first announced in January 2024, Ben's good friend and long-time collaborator Matt Damon was poised to play Mark Kimball, and Ben's ex-wife Jennifer Garner was confirmed for the role of Abigail.

Gillian Anderson also stars as a specialist consultant in kidnappings, and Beef's Steven Yeun plays Mark Kimball's campaign manager. While both stars remain in their roles, Matt Damon and Jennifer Garner exited theirs, and that's where things got challenging.

At a time all four leads were confirmed, the film was shelved because another with similar themes was due to be released at the same time (Apple TV's Highest 2 Lowest.)

Animals was going to be scrapped altogether, until Ben Affleck later thought to himself, "God, this is really sticking with me, and I actually wanna do this," and worked to get the film off the ground again.

However, by the time the movie was once again ready to go into production, Matt Damon was filming Odyssey and wasn't available to play Mark Kimball.

When Ben himself decided to take over the role, this left him in the very difficult position of playing opposite his former wife in a movie spending a lot of time examining a marriage falling apart.

Although he wanted to keep her on board, Jennifer's response to playing Abigail opposite her former husband was a resounding "no."

"I talked to Jen, and she was like, 'We don’t wanna do that. You just get baggage,'" he shares, adding that despite her being "fabulous" and "we’re really good friends," she couldn't return to the production.

Seeing her point of view, Ben says, "What you don’t wanna do is take the audience’s baggage and have it work against you, you know?"

When Kerry Washington took over from Jennifer, she was immediately intrigued by just how much the marriage of the central couple took centre stage in the film.

"It wasn’t a happy marriage, it was a pretty horrible dynamic between the two of them," she says of reading the script.

The actress concludes, "It was exciting to see the journey of their marriage through this traumatic unfolding of events. There are certain couples where, when tragedy strikes, or there’s a crisis at hand, it either moves them closer together or breaks them apart."

Animals airs on Netflix from October 9.

Dame Mary Berry has been known for most of her adult life for her culinary talents in the kitchen, and recently, for her love of gardening.

However, the national treasure has now shared another side of her career that she finds "such fun," but says nobody ever asks her about it, and she wishes they would.

Mary reveals the surprising side to her role in the spotlight is that she's become a fashion icon.

Excited to talk about her distinctive style for a recent interview with The Telegraph, Mary says, "No one ever asks me about fashion, it’s always about cooking," adding that becoming a fashion influencer is something "I didn’t expect it at all, but it’s been such fun."

Mary adds that "people are jolly nice" when it comes to some of the work that's come her way in the name of fashion - Mary has recently modelled for Burberry, taken part in a shoot for British Vogue for her 90th birthday, and has her own clothing line at Holland Cooper.

A regular at events such as RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Wimbledon and literary festivals, Mary knows just what's right for her when choosing her outfits.

"I really fuss about what I’m going to wear," she shares, adding, "I enjoy shopping, but I know exactly what I want."

Taking on board the unique dress code requirements for each event she steps out to, one of her tricks is to always wear a thermal vest underneath her outfit to avoid hiding the full effect by having to put a coat over the top.

Explaining her process when it comes to choosing the right dress for the occasion, Mary reveals, "If it was for the Baftas, for example, I’d be looking for something covered," explaining that she doesn't "want to see the top of my arms, they are not very beautiful."

Sharing what she is happy with and doesn't mind showing off, Mary adds, "I’ve got a waist, so I usually choose something that’s not flowing round the middle."

As well as knowing what she does like, Mary equally stands firm with what she doesn't like when it comes to clothing.

"I have never done trends," she says, which is because "they can be terribly funny." Also on the list of things to avoid at all costs are T-shirts over other shirts, which Mary calls "hideous," and socks with sandals, which are "the end."

She will wear Birkenstocks, but shares, "I put them on, and I just laugh at my feet." While Mary does admit "they’re comfy," she "didn’t feel that safe in them" walking around her garden.

When it comes to her fitness routine and showing off the waist she is proud of, Mary is scornful of gyms. "I have never been to a gym," she announces, adding that such places are "a huge waste of time."

"I’d much rather go for a dog walk or do a bit of gardening, get out in the fresh air. This is what does us good," she explains.

Careful with her diet, Mary has more rules she lives by when it comes to food. "I have a very healthy diet, but I couldn’t have strawberries without cream," she says. Also, the cooking star will absolutely not "have toast without marmalade."

Concluding with her biggest rule when it comes to mealtimes, she says simply, "No second helpings."

Well, author and host Elizabeth Day might have just worked out how to do it… if you're open-minded. The novelist and host of the popular How To Fail podcast is embracing the Halloween season and sharing her experience with “witchy rituals” - and the first one is all about manifesting money.

Elizabeth - whose book The Party is being turned into an ITV series, another one to add to your must-watch TV this month - explained that she put out a call for some more to try out after crediting one with helping her find her husband in the past.

Explaining that she received a lot of comments about a ritual for manifesting money, she decided to give it a try - and showed us how to do the same.

She shared, "So I'm going to do this ritual for money. By which I mean I'm not being paid for it but I'm going to put into the universe the amount of money I would like to receive. So what you do is you take out a bay leaf."

"What I'm going to do is write with a pen the amount of money I would like to receive. Now having written that amount of money I'm going to hold this bay leaf in my hand and then allow myself to feel what it would be like to receive this amount of money.”

The reason, she explains, has to do with the history and symbolism of the humble bay leaf - perhaps only used for the occasional homemade curry nowadays.

In ancient Greece it was associated with victory and with prophecy. In ancient Rome it was also associated with achievement and success. Bay leaf crowns were given to victors in gladiatorial combat and chariot races.

Once you’ve really manifested what this money would feel like, you have two options. The first, if it’s safe to do so in your environment, is to burn it and scatter the ashes. The second is to carry the bay leaf around in your purse or wallet until that money comes your way.

Now, this might all seem like utter nonsense, But Elizabeth has previously explained why she might be a firm believer in the power of manifestation - it’s what snagged her a husband.

Appearing on an episode of Holly Willoughby's YouTube show, Elizabeth explained that one of her mother’s friends told her she had to write down everything she wanted from a potential partner, set that paper alight and scatter the ashes - much like with the bay leaf.

After divorcing in the 2010s, Elizabeth was open to trying this out - and it worked. She told Holly after doing this she met someone "a few months later" who "met every single criteria".

After dating him for two years, they ended up splitting up due to an age gap difference. Undeterred, Elizabeth tried the ritual again, revealing she went "super specific" this time.

She explained, "That was November 2017. In March 2018 I met my now husband, Justin. I had taken a photo of that list before I burnt it. And the more I got to know Justin and the longer we dated, the more I thought, ‘I wonder, I'm just going to look at that list again’.

"He meets every single criteria. And I reckon I put about 85 specific things. He's every single one of them.

"I'm not someone who before that believed in the power of manifestation. But there was something about it that really worked for me… it worked for me twice."
