Alongside championing the best British clothing brands, Princess Anne is famous for loving practical staples and it’s perhaps unsurprising that she takes a similar, very wearable approach to her jewellery. The Princess Royal has been spotted wearing these gold drop earrings several times over the past few years alone, including at Easter. Although there’s no-one who lives at Windsor Castle permanently, the Royal Family gather there every Easter and Princess Anne appeared to have her earrings on when she arrived for the traditional church service in March.

Whilst it makes total sense that your summer capsule wardrobe will be filled with neutral tones and timeless silhouettes, sometimes an occasion calls for something a little bolder or more unique. Destination weddings are a prime example of this as we find ourselves wanting something floaty and elegant, yet bright and fun at the same time. Evenings out in hot weather can present the same predicament, but Duchess Sophie has just showcased a very different style of dress that would work perfectly. She and Prince Edward attended a special performance of Starlight Express on 7th August in support of The Orpheus Centre Trust.

This vital charity is devoted to inspiring and empowering young disabled students to live independent and fulfilling lives and focuses on doing so through performing arts. The Duke of Edinburgh is their Royal Patron and for this special evening, Duchess Sophie went for a stunning amber-gold kaftan Gelato dress by Matelier.

Especially if you’re heading abroad for a wedding, this would make one of the best wedding guest dresses, with its flowy silhouette and spectacular sleeves. Duchess Sophie’s amber kaftan dress is made from viscose and has long, butterfly sleeves that give this piece so much movement. The last thing we want when we’re dressing for hot weather is closely fitted sleeves and these are breezy and beautiful.

The Duchess of Edinburgh’s dress has a modest high neck and a low, scooped back, but the brand has stated that it can be worn back-to-front to create a very different look. We completely agree with Duchess Sophie that the higher neckline was the perfect, modest choice for such an important evening event, though.

The senior royal loves bold colours and her kaftan dress was a blend of white and an amber-yellow colour, with an abstract pattern running all over it. This was a far cry from the kind of prints we usually see Duchess Sophie wear, as she and her fellow royals tend to favour florals and animal prints like leopard or snake print. 

"This is a really refreshing style switch-up for Sophie. I love the loose silhouette and floaty sleeves of this floor-skimming dress, which makes it ideal for a hot weather wedding," says Woman&Home Digital Fashion Editor, Caroline Parr. "The amber colour works really well on her, and bravo for not playing it too safe by adding a bold blue bag and statement earrings. I always love being introduced to a brand I've not heard of too!"

The Duchess of Edinburgh continued to keep things a little more unusual when it came to her jewellery too. She loves a classic pearl earring or gold hoop, but for this performance of Starlight Express she opted for some pointed gold drop earrings. They consisted of two gold triangles attached at the point and this gave them an almost dagger-like shape that brought a sense of structure to her otherwise very floaty look.

Although they have a statement shape, they would easily work with so many other evening-out looks, or even with a more casual outfit like your favourite blue jeans and a white T-shirt. Duchess Sophie mixed her metals with her bag, though, as she carried a silver and deep blue top handle bag (also by Matelier). The jewel tone was a lovely splash of colour and she finished off her outfit with Jimmy Choo gold metallic espadrille wedges. 

The senior royal took a big step outside her fashion comfort zone for this evening and it definitely paid off. Duchess Sophie’s amber kaftan dress and statement accessories was a combination we won’t be forgetting in a hurry.

Helen Skelton's blend of charcoal grey leggings, a matching zip-up gym top and chunky gold earrings has made us realise workout looks can be a little glam, too.

Princess Anne is regularly spotted sporting this gemstone and has inherited the late Queen Elizabeth’s iconic three-strand pearl necklace. The Princess of Wales delighted us all by attending the men's singles final at Wimbledon back in July. I'm a bit of a magpie, and Kate's are the latest A-list style I want to add to my shopping basket - following Victoria Beckham's Jessica McCormack earrings as well as Sienna Miller's affordable Missoma earrings.

As a long-time follower of Kate's fashion, her jewellery collection has definitely evolved in the last few years. She frequently leans into modern brands and designers with a story, and her choices have become much more affordable from the jewels that other royals might previously have worn.

This time Kate debuted a new addition to her jewellery box, the By Pariah Sabine earrings. A chunky gold hoop with a hook that doesn't quite loop all the way round, this distinctive style added a fresh feel to her elegant ensemble.

Hannah Waddingham made a bold statement in stripes and chunky gold earrings at an Earthshot event with Prince William.

Whether you’re looking at investing in one of the best jumpsuits for a special occasion or a dress to wear casually during the hot summer days you might not immediately consider picking up a patterned piece. However, stripes and polka dots are some of the most versatile prints out there and Hannah Waddingham has just shown how effective they can be at jazzing up a classic design. The acclaimed actor attended the inaugural Earthshot Prize Innovation Camp on 27th June in London to help celebrate the Earthshot Prize Finalists and global climate innovators. 

She chaired a panel session which included Prince William who established the prize with Sir David Attenborough in 2020. For this daytime event Hannah went for a timeless Suzannah London shirt dress with a crisp collar and three quarter length, slightly puffed sleeves.

The front of the bodice had a crossover design that was a twist on the classic shirt dress shape but still upheld its beautiful elegance. Hannah wore her dress with a few buttons undone at the top which gave it a more casual feel and the skirt fell to a midi length, with pockets either side.

If you haven’t already got a shirt dress in your summer capsule wardrobe then seeing Hannah’s striped dress might well have tempted you to add one to your collection. Of course, plain shirt dresses are always beautiful and such an easy throw-on item, but stripes elevated this one even more. The deep blue and white was a fail safe combination and although there was a pop of colour it wasn’t too much and almost took on a more neutral edge thanks to the pattern.

Blue and white stripes look stunning with neutral bags and shoes, as well as with deeper blue hues or a vibrant red. Hannah kept things simple with her own accessories and added a glint of gold with her chunky Monica Vinader earrings. 

These were made even more visible thanks to her decision to wear her blonde hair pulled back in a bun and they reached the top of her neck. Larger statement earrings have been increasingly popular in recent years and Hannah’s earrings for the Earthshot Prize Innovation Camp had a fabulous domed shape to them. There are so many similar options out there right now and, as the actor showed, they look great with a pared-back outfit to add more detail. 

She finished off her look with some white Gianvito Rossi court shoe heels though we think her striped shirt dress and earrings would look equally stylish with a pair of her best white trainers for even more of a smart-casual feel. This outfit could also easily be worn in cooler weather, with the addition of a pair of boots and a jacket over the top, making it incredibly versatile.

Hannah looked relaxed and comfortable in her outfit in pictures taken at the event. She hosted last year’s Earthshot Prize Awards in Singapore and chaired Prince William, Earthshot Prize chief executive Hannah Jones and Earthshot trustee Tokunboh Ishmael on the “Stories of Impact” panel during London Climate Action Week. 

As per The Telegraph, Hannah described Prince William as being “not just the poster boy” for the prize, but “very much the engine room”. At the event the Prince of Wales also described this as a time to make critical changes for the good of our planet.

“This is the critical decade for change so impact is something I’m very alive to at the moment. I say to the team ‘Come on, what’s the next thing? What are we doing?’” he declared.

Queen Mary Of Denmark has shown why bright prints should be a staple in your wardrobe, perfectly sporting a bold orange look with a pair of gorgeous statement earrings.

The Australian-born monarch was in full bloom as she hosted the Maratonsang event at Vartov College in Copenhagen last week. Crowds gathered inside the university courtyard and sang until the late evening, as Queen Mary led the traditional solstice celebration.

While we didn’t get to hear the Danish royal sing, she definitely struck the right note with her outfit.

The gorgeous floral piece features a sweet rounded neckline and gathered sleeves, which elevate the already feminine number. Despite its slightly looser fit, the A-Line skirt and white seam at the waist perfectly emphasised Mary's silhouette.

When it came to accessorising, Mary's statement drop earrings expertly adhered to this year's jewellery trends. Her dangly tiered earrings with amber and aquamarine beads complemented the colour palette of her look beautifully.

And Mary's shoes of choice were perfect, too. She opted for a stunning pair of ochre coloured pumps from Malone Souilers. While a pair of your best white trainers would look super stylish with a vibrant orange midi dress like Mary's, the heels helped the Danish royal put her best foot forward with a touch of elegance during the traditional celebration.

Having made a statement with her tropical-print dress, Queen Mary sported pared back make-up with a soft dewy finish. Though she wore a smokey eye, it was a light brown shadow that perfectly highlighted her deep chocolate coloured eyes.

Opting for a similarly subtle lip, the royal wore a slick of dusty pink with a shade that wasn’t too dissimilar from her natural lips.

Helen Skelton has shown fans how to enjoy the great outdoors and still look glam with a cool combination of walking boots, statement earrings and sunglasses. 

Refusing to sacrifice comfort and function, the TV presenter was in her element as filmed her latest travel show. Joking with her co-host Dan Walker in her latest Instagram post, the 40-year-old looked happy and relaxed as she enjoyed the stunning British coastline.

While the sun was shining, Helen also was prepared for whatever the weather might throw at her as she wore multiple layers.

It was her accessories that really caught our eye though, as the presenter donned oversized aviator sunglasses from ASOS that are completely in line with 2024 sunglasses trends. 

Coming in a tortoiseshell-style design, these glam sunnies had a vintage feel thanks to the rose-hued lens and additional bridge. 

Though the sun has been out much, these specs have already sold out on the ASOS website as they were only £19.99.

However, Helen’s sunglasses weren't the only accessory we wanted to add to our basket.

As she was filming, she added minimal jewellery with a pair of chunky gold hoops that she has worn with previous outfits. Though Helen hasn’t revealed where her pair are from, the earrings look nearly identical to the Flow Huggie Hoops from Dean Davidson.

Of course, she came prepared for the countryside shoot with walking boots from BRGN. Hiking boots might not be a fashion staple, but you’ll be tempted to add these to your wardrobe after seeing them on the former Blue Peter host.

Unlike other boots, which come in hues of deep blacks or browns, the BRGN pair came in a cool-toned sandy shade. Perfect for muddy country lanes, these boots are durable and won’t easily stain, but are still stylish.

The sun might not be making an appearance anytime soon, but Helen Skelton has proved that you don’t have to feel dishevelled on blustery walks. Her outfit is perfect for lazy dogwalks or even longer hikes, with enough layers to keep you cosy during the cloudy weather.

We've long admired Sienna Miller's style. From her oh-so-boho festival days to her more recent collaboration with high street stalwart M&S, she just can't put a foot wrong when it comes to fashion.

Her Majesty wore her beloved camel Anna Valentine coat layered over a white shirt, khaki jumper and a tartan skirt that added a pop of colour with its shades of cranberry red and rich green. In her ears she kept things warm-toned with a pearl and gold earring on one side and a gold embellished drop earring on the other.

It might not have been immediately obvious to fans but in certain pictures, Queen Camilla’s mismatched earrings can be spotted. According to woman&home Fashion Editor, Rivkie Baum, the mismatched earring look has been a "growing trend for a while". 

She praised Queen Camilla’s choice to embrace this look, stating that it’s "great to see Queen Camilla jumping on the look, showcasing that style and trends have no age limit".

"The mismatched earring trend has been one that has been burgeoning for a while and allows for women to have a more playful approach to their jewellery," Rivkie continued. 

"While you can buy uncoordinated sets, you can also give this look a go by teaming up pieces in your own jewellery collection. Like Queen Camilla, opt for smaller pieces as you try out the look so that it's a subtle nod and looks purposeful, and remember to not mix metal types to ensure the look doesn't feel jarring."

Queen Camilla’s mismatched earrings appeared to both be gold-toned and were beautifully subtle, as Rivkie suggested. Pearls aren't one of the specific jewellery trends for 2024 but they’re here to stay and the Queen regularly wears different pairs of pearl earrings.

The versatility of her pearl earring in Swindon is mirrored in her choice to wear a simple gold earring on her other ear that doesn't have any hugely statement elements to it. 

This features a gold swirl on the front going into a drop embellished with a few clear stones. The design is chic and relatively understated, with the drop design mirrored in both earrings. The similar shape helps to create harmony between Queen Camilla’s mismatched earrings and tie them together.

Queen Camilla wore her earrings for two important engagements in Swindon, including a visit to a women’s refuge as she marked the 30th anniversary of the Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service. Here she met members of staff, volunteers and families and also unveiled a plaque and officially named the centre "Jenni's House" after the founder Jenni Manners. Sandra Oh kicked off her 2024 red carpet appearances in exceptional style on 4th January when she stepped out for the Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards Gala wearing a crimson Carolina Herrera dress and statement jewellery.

Sandra Oh’s fiery red dress featured a sensual plunging neckline which went into a gorgeous bow detail just above her waist. The Quiz Lady star went for a full-length option for this special annual occasion, though she kept her arms bare with the short-sleeved design.

Flaring out from the shoulders, these sleeves draped beautifully and added a sense of structure to the flowing gown. This is a detail that womanandhome’s Fashion Channel Editor Rivkie Baum believes is very successful and she’s revealed that the fabulous sleeves accentuated Sandra’s waist.

The dramatic outfit commanded plenty of attention and subtly managed to not clash with or get lost on the red carpet, while the kimono-style sleeves widened Oh's shoulders helping to create an even narrower waistline for the svelte star,” she declared.

Sandra’s choice of a fiery red shade was wonderful to brighten up a January evening and vibrant red is especially on-trend for autumn and winter 2023/2024. However, this isn’t the only trend-lead aspect within the dress design as Rivkie’s attention was particularly caught by the bow decoration.

She explained, “Bows are set to be one of the biggest spring/summer fashion trends of 2024 and Oh demonstrates how to make this twee trend directional and sophisticated. Bowing at the waist, the statement detail helps to create a curvaceous hourglass silhouette.

The sheen of the dress’s fabric enhanced the glamour of Sandra’s outfit and she accessorised in an equally fabulous way with a pair of bold drop earrings. Falling to the bottom of the actor’s neck, these statement earrings were set with crystals for magnificent shine.

Rivkie thinks that the choice to keep her “accessories to a minimum” and just wear these earrings lets the “dress and that amazing neckline do the talking”. 

Chandelier earrings are one of the biggest jewellery trends 2024 to note for spring/summer too and Sandra’s drop earrings were even more glorious and visible as she chose to wear her glossy hair up for her first red carpet of the year. Sandra presented an award to Paul Giamatti during the event and this appearance comes a month after she wowed in an equally stunning black gown at the 3rd Annual Academy Museum Gala.
