Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins has shared her secret acting dreams in an exclusive interview with woman&home.

The news journalist, who a decade ago had a cameo in Bradley Cooper’s blockbuster Burnt, admitted she longs to put to use the drama training she had as a youngster growing up in West Sussex.

She said, “I’d love to do more films, so hello there, any film directors who are reading this! I used to love acting so much. I used to be in the youth theatre in Chichester, so maybe one day I’ll turn up in a soap. Get out of my pub!”

Charlotte appeared in the 2015 movie Burnt alongside Cooper, who played the role of a troubled chef, Adam Jones, who leaves Paris to make a name for himself in the UK. The Hollywood hunk recorded his scenes with Charlotte on the Good Morning Britain sofa shortly after she joined the ITV breakfast show.

"That was a career high for me," reflects Charlotte. "They brought the whole film crew into the studios. They'd given me the script and we did the scene, then the director whispered something in Bradley Cooper's ear and obviously said, be as difficult as possible’.

"Then the script went out the window. He was saying things like, ‘Do I look at this camera?’ I had to treat him as I’d treat a normal guest, so I said, ‘Just ignore the cameras,’ and that was the take that they used.

"After that interview, he came back as Bradley Cooper and I got to interview him as myself, which blew my mind as did going to the premiere and seeing my name on the credits!"

Fronting the cover of woman&home’s October issue, now it’s Charlotte’s turn to bedazzle in her most daring fashion photoshoot yet.

In the accompanying interview, Charlotte - who turned 50 in May - opened up about turning to hypnotherapy to “cope with the overwhelming emotion” following the death of her father Frank in 2015, following a three-year battle with motor neurone disease.

The 78-year-old vicar passed away one month before the birth of Charlotte’s daughter, Ella Rose, 10, leaving Charlotte struggling to process “the concept of death and the fragility of life”.

She also spoke for the first time about a secret Covid-induced health battle, marriage to her drinks industry businessman husband Mark Herbert, 52, and her “rebellious” past.

Charlotte Hawkins has opened up on her 'trepidation' surrounding turning 50 - plus her zest for life that still involves a good night out with plenty of tequila shots and cocktails, in an exclusive interview with woman&home.

The beloved British TV host has been helping to wake up the nation on ITV's Good Morning Britain for 11 years - and despite an incredible broadcasting career that has spanned decades, there's more to her than her polished on-screen persona.

Having turned 50 in May of this year, the mother-of-one, who shares ten-year-old Ella Rose with husband Mark Herbert, is still all for an evening out involving a few drinks, with a trip to Ibiza making up part of her birthday celebrations.

Charlotte tells us, "If you go to Ibiza, you’ve got to throw yourself into it, haven’t you? I do like a good night out, drinking cocktails and tequila shots!"

Her milestone day came with some 'trepidation', but those feelings quickly passed, says Charlotte, who is all for embracing the liberating self-assurance that comes with growing older.

"I felt trepidation about turning 50 but it doesn’t matter now. I went to work on my birthday. They decorated my dressing room and made a real fuss. We had cake, we went out for a glass of fizz after the show, Mark took me for a lovely lunch, then we celebrated with Ella Rose in the evening," she adds.

"All my friends from university came around the following night for a dinner party, and we booked an amazing chef, then danced until the early hours.

"Confidence changes with age. When you’re younger, you just throw yourself into stuff with single-minded determination. When you’re older, you’re a bit more realistic, but you have more experience, so you’re better able to handle situations and have a better assessment of what really matters."

Charlotte married Mark back in 2008 and calls him her 'soulmate', putting their strong relationship down to plenty of giggles and good communication.

"When I was younger, I always thought, ‘There’s one person out there who is meant to be with you, who will completely complement who you are,’ and that’s what we are for each other.

"He’s got a great sense of humour, and we have a lot of fun times and a lot of laughter. That’s so important," Charlotte says.

"You know those times when things get too much, or you start niggling at each other? We’ll sit down and work out why. Sometimes it’ll be, ‘Do you know that you do this the whole time?’ or he’s got a thing about how the dishwasher is stacked.

"It’s always worth talking about them and going, ‘I get this isn’t a big deal to you, but these are the things that really wind me up’. Then you learn what’s important."

There are some colours that complement each other perfectly and others we might not be as comfortable wearing together - like red and pink. Some people hold fast to the old fashion rule that these two shades are too similar and clash when worn together.

I’ve never been a big believer in these kinds of restrictions (I love blue and green together too) and neither is Good Morning Britain’s Charlotte Hawkins. The presenter is a big fan of wearing both red and pink and her latest look combined them in one single item from Boden.

Boden is one of the best British clothing brands around if you want fun colours and bold patterns. Charlotte’s outfit for GMB on 24th July was their Amara design, which is currently reduced from £120 to £72 in the sale.

She shared a picture of her wearing it on Instagram and in her caption declared that she simply "had" to give this dress a twirl. The skirt is voluminous and the tiered detailing gives it a gorgeous shape, though it’s made from unstructured, comfy cotton.

Regardless of which silhouettes you want to wear in the heat, choosing breathable materials like cotton and linen can help you to feel a little cooler. Charlotte’s dress has a notched V-neckline, puffed sleeves and practical pockets in the skirt.

This is a timeless and easy-to-wear shape, though what really makes this on-sale Boden dress stand out is the colour combination. You can get it in several different shades and Charlotte Hawkins went for the poppy red and peony pink one.

Primarily scarlet, the dress has intricate pink floral embroidery on the sleeves and stitch embroidery framing the neckline and running in a line on the skirt. It’s not an overwhelming amount of pink but the contrast brings depth and dimension to Charlotte’s dress.

Colour clashing can be incredibly effective and doesn’t have to be daunting if you go for a piece like this where the second hue is minimal. Pink and red also have similar undertones which makes them easier to pair together in one cohesive ensemble.

When it comes to what accessories to wear with a vibrant dress like this my advice is always to go for a less is more approach. The presenter matched her shoes to her frock and stepped out in red court shoe heels.

The colour might have been just as striking as her outfit, but the design was classic and the co-ordination also helped to mellow the final effect. Neutral shoes in general would work well with a piece like this, especially warm hues like cream or tan.

The same goes for bags and although Charlotte didn’t need a bag when she was live on-air, a tan crossbody bag would have finished off the look nicely. She does tend to match her accessories whenever she wears pink and red, though.

In June the ITV star wore a pink and red floral dress to Royal Ascot and in May she presented GMB in a gradient red-to-pink design. If it becomes a monthly occurrence, I can’t wait to see what pink and red outfit she’ll wear in August.

Charlotte Hawkins has showcased how leopard print doesn’t have to dominate your winter outfits to still make a beautiful impact.

Leopard print dominated as a trend last year and we have a feeling it won’t be going away anytime soon so we’ve been searching for new ways to wear this gorgeous pattern. Despite being quite bold, the colours of traditional leopard print are neutral and this means that it works so well with plenty of pieces in our winter capsule wardrobe. For a truly understated leopard print look it’s worth looking for items that only feature a hint of it - and we’ve come across a look from TV and Radio presenter Charlotte Hawkins that shows how stunning this can be.

Back in February 2024 she shared a video on Instagram talking about the return of Young Classical Stars on Classic FM which she presents. In a nod to the radio show’s name, Charlotte wore a gorgeous starry jumper by Pour Moi that had just the right amount of leopard print.

The design is very pared-back, with a round neckline, long sleeves and a versatile black and beige colour palette. The star is leopard print and because it doesn’t dominate the front of Charlotte’s jumper it’s striking without being overpowering.

We love going all-out with leopard print but there are some occasions where we want a more toned-down version and an item like this is wonderful as it could be worn with your favourite jeans, as well as tailored trousers. Charlotte opted for a pleated midi skirt that looked like it could have been satin or leather, like we've seen her wear before.

Satin has an inherently glamorous feel to it and leather is edgier and whilst this is perfect for evening outfits or special occasions, dressing these fabrics down with knitwear helps to make it work for the daytime too. Charlotte Hawkins chose to drape her leopard print jumper over the top of her skirt but if you prefer a more streamlined silhouette then tuck in your knits instead.

The pleats meant the skirt draped beautifully and the volume brought a little bit of drama to Charlotte’s outfit, which she finished off with black court shoe heels. They had a mesh fabric with an opaque toecap and were an elegant choice that complemented the femininity of the skirt.

We personally love the skirt and jumper combination but even if it’s not for you, Charlotte’s approach to styling leopard print is worth copying. Amongst all the statement leopard print pieces out there right now there are always some gems that have only a small amount of this pattern in their design, whether it’s a dress, bag, or scarf.

Styling one of these with your wardrobe go-tos makes the most of what you already have and adds a touch of trendy leopard print in a wearable way. Accessories are one of the easiest ways to style leopard print as they are even more subtle as a smaller percentage of your overall outfit.

Whether or not you want to wear them with a pleated midi skirt, this is another great item to have in your collection for winter.
