I wore the Beats Powerbeats Fit for a month

Setting up

Setting up the Beats Powerbeats Fit was easy. They're ready to go in the box with a few hours of charge already loaded up. The only thing you need to do is fit the right size eartips for you. There are several to choose from in the pack. You'll need to pick a comfortable set, go into the headphones in your Bluetooth menu. Tap on the 'Ear Fit Test' and follow the instructions.

While a little more faff than some other headphones, I really appreciated this feature as it meant that the tips fit perfectly in my ears. I've worn these for hours at a time some days, and haven't had earache once.

From the same menu, you can choose from three listening modes: Off, Transparency (which actively lets in sound around you so you can hear your surroundings), and Noise Cancellation (which aims to cut out all noise around you). This makes the Beats Powerbeats Fit suitable for both gym and other indoor sessions as well as running, walking, and outdoor workouts.

Workouts

In the past month, I've done over 20 workouts with the Beats Powerbeats Fit, alongside my favourite fitness tracker: five runs, 10 strength training sessions, two Pilates classes, and one dedicated walk. With the unique design of the wingtips, which sit snugly in the bottom of your ear, they stay in place through pretty much anything. This should be expected for workout headphones, but it's not always a given.

While these headphones thrive when I'm strolling on my walking pad and strength workouts, they really come into their own in high-intensity sessions, like running outdoors and treadmill workouts. The IPX4 durability rating means they can handle pretty much anything - aside from a dip in the pool. I've worn them in the pouring rain and while sweating it out on cardio machines.

I tend to use the Transparency or Off modes when I'm outside, as I find the Noise Cancellation a little too protective for the outdoors. The noise cancelling is ideal for shutting out the grunts and gym playlists inside that used to permeate through my headphones before I switched to Airpods and Beats headphones a few years ago. They stay in place and clean up easily with a wipe after use, too.

Commuting

If you want to test the noise cancellation of any headphones, go for a ride on the Northern Line of the London Underground. With its screeching rails, it's a true challenge. These headphones didn't quite meet that challenge, unfortunately.

While the noise cancellation is ideal for the gym and tuning out background noise, and they dealt with quieter underground lines well, they struggled to block out the piercing, louder sounds. For this, I'd recommend a pair like the Sony WH-1000XM5 or the WH-1000XM4, which are fully noise-cancelling, in part due to their over-ear design.

Around the house and working

The selection of eartips makes these headphones so comfortable to wear for long periods. I'm talking five hours or more. While I normally opt for an open-ear design, like the Shokz OpenFit 2, the Beats Powerbeats Fit are a versatile option that's just as good. In Transparency Mode, I can hear the doorbell at home, or if I've put them in to get my head down at work, I can still hear a colleague when they speak to me.

As is standard across the range of Beats headphones, you can answer the phone and disconnect a call with a tap on the side of these earbuds, and take your volume up and down on your music. You can also adjust this setting in the preferences so the shortcuts work how you want them to. For a set of headphones, they are suprisingly customisable.

The bright pink colourway does mean they are a little less discreet than a black or grey option, especially with my dark hair, but I love the pop of bright pink.

With an impressive seven hours of battery life when fully-charged, these often get me through a few days of wear between my commutes and workouts. When they do need a charge, it's a simple USB-C.

What are the downsides of the Beats Powerbeats Fit?

The main downside of the Beats Powerbeats Fit is the lack of complete noise cancellation, but to penalise them seriously for this would be harsh. I'd challenge any pair of in-ear headphones to block out every decibel of sound, and I'd argue that being able to hear the world around you is often safer than not.

I'd also say that while they are very easy to put into the ears and take out, they are a little fiddly to get back into the case. When I first started using them, I'd easily spend up to a minute trying to get them back into the case, having forgotten how they fit. Others might not have the same issue, and I gradually got used to the fit. I didn't have this problem with the Beats Powerbeats Pro, though, as they are a slightly different design.

Are the Beats Powerbeats Fit headphones worth buying?

Yes, absolutely. If you primarily use your headphones for working out and travelling, I'd say these should certainly be among your top options, if not take the top spot. While they have a couple of disadvantages, overall, they are an excellent pair that I'd recommend to anyone looking for in-ear headphones.

If budget is a consideration for you, then I'd say the Beats Fit Pro are a good alternative with an almost identical design and noise cancellation quality.

Airpods Pro vs Beats Powerbeats Fit

Having only recently given up my AirPods Pro, I can compare the two side by side.

• Noise cancellation: There's no denying that the AirPods Pro win in this debate, having cut out the screeching of the London Underground on my weekly tube journeys, where the Beats Powerbeats Fit could not.
• Design: I prefer the design of the Powerbeats. The construction of the earbud and wingtips allows for a more adjustable fit, without sticking out from my ear, something I found my AirPods did.
• Durability: Both these headphones have the same IPX rating of 4, meaning they can handle rain, snow, and heat, making them both suitable for sweaty workouts and unexpected weather conditions.
• Battery: The AirPods Pro offer 8 hours of playback with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), while the Powerbeats offer 6 hours with noise cancellation. It's not a huge amount given the price difference, but still worth considering.

There are a handful of beauty products that are so famous, any mention of them to someone in the beauty industry elicits a knowing nod. Philip Kingsley Elasticizer is one such product, a hair mask known for its transformative effects – which I can attest to. I’ve tried so many hair masks during my beauty journalism career, but I always come back to Elasticizer.

A bit of beauty trivia that I frequently roll out is that Elasticizer was first created by Philip Kingsley himself for Audrey Hepburn, to counter the effects of frequent hairstyling while filming.

In the ‘70s the star visited trichologist Kingsley for help with her hair, which was very dry and suffering from breakage. She’d found that many nourishing treatments were leaving too much residue on her hair and weighing it down – and so, Philip Kingsley went off to the lab to create the best hair mask to moisturise without any heaviness. Why Philip Kingsley's Elasticizer is such a go-to in my haircare routine

As somebody with naturally dry hair, masks and deep conditioners are one of the core pillars of my wider haircare routine. I’m fortunate that I work from home and can leave it on for an hour or two to marinate while I write, meaning it’s easy to stick to a weekly treatment whenever I have it in my haircare stash.

The formula is rich in olive and castor oils to really nourish hair. But because it’s applied pre-shampooing, any product that hasn't been absorbed is washed away rather than sitting on the surface of strands – so for finer hair types that struggle with being weighed down, as Audrey had experienced with other products, that potential issue is nipped in the bud.

Accessories can take an outfit from pretty to stunning and the Duchess of Edinburgh proved this beyond a doubt when she attended the Biennial RIFLES Awards Dinner on 27th November. Sophie signalled that party season is well and truly here with a combination of a midnight blue velvet dress and a sparkly belt, bag and heels.

Velvet features quite heavily in my own winter capsule wardrobe. There’s something about the lustrous sheen that instantly makes a velvet item like Sophie’s dress feel special - and often brands add extra stretch for comfort. Jewel tones complement velvet and so even without the accessories, the Duchess’s frock would’ve been beautiful. With them, it felt more fun and fabulous.

The Duchess of Edinburgh opts for knee-high boots most often in the winter when the dress code is less formal, but here she went a little smarter with L K Bennett pumps. These are an old favourite of hers and shimmer in the light without being garish.

After all, if anyone’s going to give a masterclass in making sparkles look sophisticated, it’s a royal like Sophie. She matched her shoes to her embellished Elie Saab box clutch bag and cinched in the waist of her maxi dress with a silver belt.

If you wanted to make a party outfit more understated, I’d go simple and stick to a shimmery pair of shoes and a bag. Choose a shape or design that suits your signature style best - for the Duchess this was court heels and a clutch - and go from there.

The key to a Sophie-inspired special occasion look is introducing sparkle through your accessories and letting them do all the talking - incorporating velvet is an added bonus. Like she did, you could style them with a velvet dress, and if you go for gold or silver they’ll go with so many different colours or styles.

Think of metallics like elevated neutrals - they feel statement and yet the shades actually go with pretty much anything. Cool tones work best with silver and warm with gold but it’s not a strict rule.

Duchess Sophie’s deep blue velvet dress had warm undertones and she went for silver accessories. Her jewellery was quite minimal so as not to overshadow the bag, heels and belt and she wore her blonde hair pulled back into a chic updo for the RIFLES awards dinner too.

Jewel-toned velvet and glittering accessories are a go-to for the royals as Christmas edges closer and just a few days earlier the Princess of Wales wore this combination to the 2025 Royal Variety Performance. In her case, it was an emerald-green floor-length gown and a silver clutch.

This show and the awards dinner were very formal occasions, however you can make this formula work for something more low-key like a date night outfit or relaxed party ensemble. Go for more casual silhouettes with your clothing, like a jumper and velvet wide-leg trousers, and perhaps a crossbody or shoulder bag and flats.

However you style them, accessories like Duchess Sophie’s bring festive flair without reaching for head-to-toe red, green or sequins.

After a decade and a half in the game, I've developed some firmly-held beliefs about beauty products.

These include (in no particular order) the best mascaras are often cheaper ones, but the opposite is true of foundation. All perfumes smell different on everyone, not just the ones that claim it as a unique selling point, and - possibly my core ideology - products that say they will lift loose skin are telling a pack of lies.

But the fun thing about getting older, gathering knowledge as you go, is realising that you actually know nothing and there's always a bit of wiggle room in supposed certainty. The Ziip Halo has certainly proven that to be the case for me.

Why this facial device has changed my mind on at-home skin-tightening

Trust me, I wish a cream or serum could produce the tangible tightening action of a facelift - Kris Jenner's one, specifically. Maybe one day someone will crack it and make billions.

The only meaningful evidence I'd ever seen for non-invasive lifting was ouchy but effective in-clinic treatments like Ultherapy and HIFU, which stimulate collagen for a restructuring effect, mostly on the lower face.

Procedures aside, my cynicism (ok dismissal) of skin firming claims held strong. Then, a device claiming to do just that flooded my work inbox and social media feed, pictured in the hands of celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Gillian Anderson, and - even more convincingly - respected beauty journalist peers.

There are countless protocols on the Ziip app's strangely mesmerising tutorial videos, including a 6-minute sculpt and a daily 4-minute lift. They all boil down to slathering yourself in conductive gel and running the tool up and around your face, feeling the occasional tightening or strange jolt (around my teeth, personally) but absolutely no pain whatsoever.

From the very first time I used this device, I was surprised and, quite frankly, humbled by the impressive results. I could geniunely see a lift on my brow bone and a distinct sculptedness to my cheeks.

Don't believe me? I wouldn't have either, so behold! Some strange and unflattering images. One before shot and one where I have Ziip Halo'd half of my face only (nose ring side).

The arrows point to the areas where I see the most difference. Do you see how the un-Ziip-ed brow looks so much heavier, and the eyelid sleepier? Do you see how lifted my Ziiped lower-face looks, and how much less - sorry, I hate this word - jowly it is?

As I said, strange and unflattering - but also pretty compelling no? In practice, I find the promised 72-hour lift is more of a 24 to 48-hour thing, but for six minutes spent with a tool, that's still a great effort-reward ratio.

I am now addicted to my Ziip and used it every single night on the run-up to my recent 40th birthday celebrations. I trust that the long-term benefits from the nanocurrent are bubbling away too, but much like using the best red light therapy mask those will be slow-burn and subtle.

The real draw is that bang for your buck instant lift, and I wouldn't go to a party without using this tool first now. Funnily enough, I used to be dismissive of microcurrent devices for this very reason. What's the point, I thought, of investing any time at all in skin firming if it only lasts a day or two?

That's the hubris of youth for you. Some years and a distinct drop in collagen levels later, I realise how confidence-boosting and totally worth it a quick fix can be. When it comes to leggings, my priorities are comfort, support, and convenience. They have to be suitable for wearing from home to the gym, feel 'barely there' but still squat-proof during my workouts, and have useful design details where possible.

It's not a lot to ask, but finding the right pair of workout leggings is a task. Trust me, I've had my legs in about 100 pairs in my years as woman&home's health channel editor. In that time, I've found plenty that I like, but I'm happiest when I pull these three out of my drawer (after a blind rummage).

For Pilates and gym workouts

The Gymshark Vital Leggings are my go-to (and have been for four years) for gym workouts and Pilates, and sit among my picks for the best workout leggings overall. Together with the higher waistband, the smoothly compressive nylon and elastane material offers compression and contours the body for a flattering fit and fail-safe support during your workout. You'll also spot small vents in the legs for breathability - a must whatever the season. These feel so comfortable and supportive, I often wear them for running too. They don't move an inch.

I can also attest to their durability, given that I've had one pair for four years. Apart from the black colourway turning to more of a dark grey through the hundreds of washes they've had, they are almost as good as new.

They are made from super smooth elastane material and are quick-drying, but as you get sweatier, they hold to the contours of the body. This creates a 'barely there' feel that completely prevents chaffing and that cold, heavy feeling of clinging material. In fact, I often forget I'm wearing them during my runs or sweatier hikes.

For running and gym workouts - and with pockets

For hiking, running, gym workouts, Pilates, yoga, and even just throwing on to get a few bits from the shop, I'd always be happy to pull the Lululemon Fast and Free High-Rise Tight from my drawer. So much so, when the temperature turned up in the summer, I bought them in the running shorts version.

The material and design of these leggings are unlike any other. It feels buttery soft against the skin and only gets more comfortable when you build up a sweat, with a seam-free construction reducing the chance of any chafing. They have a high waistband, which I love for the extra feeling of support and light compression, and the drawcord keeps the fit adjustable to my comfort level.

I've opted for these leggings in the slightly longer 28" as I'm slightly taller than average, and I found a deal on them in the last sale. However, if you're under 5' 7" tall, then you'd be fine with the 25" length, and this is the one that's on sale right now for Black Friday. Enjoy!

There's a lot of confusion around curling tongs vs curling wands. Not least because many people don't realise they are different tools.

Whether you regularly style with your best hair curler, or you're keen to start using one but don't know where to start, a little bit of knowledge goes a long way in picking between these two devices.

I should know. As a beauty editor who tries countless hair tools (and who puts a wave in my hair for pretty much every night out), I've picked up on several small but crucial distinctions between a wand and a tong that can make all the difference when styling.

Weighing up curling tongs vs curling wands is, like anything hair tool-related, a technical business that can get confusing. So I've tried, tested, and photographed the styles a curling tong, conical, and cylindrical wand can create, as well as asking Ronnie Berg, Stylist at Nicola Clarke Salon, to help explain the key differences between these tools.

What is a curling wand?

"A wand typically has no clamp, so it is easier for at-home use," explains Ronnie. "You can wrap the hair with no fiddly clip to deal with in the process - perfect if you want a loose beachy curl or wave without fuss, and for beginners."

She breaks down the types of wands:

• Cylinder: "This standard shape of a wand is great if you want to keep the wave the same shape throughout."
• Cone: "Good if you want less of a wave at the top, smoother volume, and a more defined wave at the bottom."

What is a curling tong?

"These usually have a clamp, allowing for more diverse looks," explains Ronnie, "but require some practice to get used to, if you have never used them before." The looks you can create include:

• Faux bouncy blow-dry: "By wrapping the ends in and curling up and holding."
• Loose beach waves: "By just wrapping."
• Mermaid textured waves: "Using the clamp to twist the hair down into more waves."

Versatility is one of the main pros of using a curling tong vs a curling wand; however, this tool is not without downsides.

"If used incorrectly, it can leave undesired dents in the hair," explains Ronnie, who adds that "there is more direct heat than wrapping hair around a wand."

Which suits my hair type?

Ronnie recommends using a wand if your hair "easily creates waves and curls with a heated tool or is easily mouldable. Fine hair that just needs a quick kink to the hair: you can just wrap and go."

Tongs, on the other hand, are recommended for "hair that requires a bit more effort. Textured or frizzier hair can benefit from the clamp, as it can smooth and wave by twisting down through the clamp into a wave."

Should you use each tool differently?

Although both work in similar ways, Ronnie explains that there are some key differences in how to curl your hair with a wand versus a tong:

• Wands: "You can be more freehand with the hair you pick up to wave - it doesn’t have to be sectioned off, you can grab a section and be more random."
• Tongs: "With a tong, you probably want to work with the hair in sections if you decide to use the clamp, because it can get tangly and messy really quickly. So I’d definitely say you want to have more control when using a tong."

As is the case with any LED face mask, you must overlook the fact that this device does appear quite terrifying to others; however, there are so many benefits that you should know about an LED mask that make it all worth it.

I like that you have four different light options, giving you the opportunity to target an array of different skin concerns - from anti-ageing and brightening to refining and balancing the complexion.

While I've only used it for a few weeks so far, so I can't judge the benefits to their full extent, I've already noticed small differences to my skin in the little time I have been testing it. That said, it cannot go amiss that it's rare to find an LED face mask that boasts a price tag this affordable (let alone one that currently has a 50% discount), So, we have to give credit where credit's due, if you're on the hunt for an LED mask that doesn't break the bank, this is a stellar option.

The festive period is edging closer and whilst we hear so much about how to dress for this time of year, it can be tricky. You don't want to be adding loads of pieces to your winter capsule wardrobe that you can only really wear in December - Christmas jumpers I'm looking at you! Yet it is nice to nod to the season in some way and I think Alex Jones just nailed this.

The colour feels very festive and red and green are always very popular tones for December. It’s high-necked and has long, billowy sleeves and some delicate draping at the front. Alex’s blouse is made from satin and the sheen of this material always gives items a glamorous edge, no matter what else you pair them with.

Alex Jones picked a pair that are colourful whilst still relatively easy to style and I’d recommend leaning into darker colours like she did. Navy, black, deep green and burgundy are often seen in checked clothing and each of these colours looks good with each other, as well as with neutrals.

The presenter could easily swap her red blouse for a black, white or camel jumper and it would look just as stylish throughout the rest of winter. She finished off this particular look with a pair of pointed-toe slingbacks that look like the River Island Heart Detail Court Shoes.

They’re no longer available, but this style of shoe with the brooch/adornment on the toe has been trendy in recent years and there are plenty of alternatives to pick from. There’s something about them that feels a little more fun than classic heels and yet they’re not that out-there.

Alex’s slingbacks had a glinting gold heart on the front and were black. You could also wear checked trousers and a flowy blouse with heeled ankle boots. For those who prefer skirts to trousers when they’re dressing up, a plaid midi skirt and knee high boots is another lovely option.

All of these possibilities are something a little different to holly, reindeer and Santa Claus-adorned Christmas jumpers and feel more chic and sophisticated.

When does Black Friday end?

Black Friday 2025 took place on Friday 28 November, with most retailers running their biggest offers through the weekend and into Cyber Monday on 1 December. The majority of those sales have now wrapped up, and the headline discounts have officially ended.

That said, a handful of stores – particularly tech specialists – often keep promotions running a little longer into the early part of Cyber Week, which continues until 5 December. If you spot a worthwhile lingering deal, it’s still wise to act quickly. Stock can disappear fast, and once these extended offers finish, they won’t be back until next year’s Black Friday season.

Most haircare enthusiasts will know that Color Wow is a brand to pay attention to. Their Dreamcoat spray is one of the most widely-used products in the industry, providing a professional keratin blow-dry look at home and lasting over a few hair washes and even their Money mask is a bestseller in most beauty retailers.

And while I do love those industry favourites, I've recently been won over by one of the brand's newer products, their Dreaming hair mask. It's a repair and resurfacing treatment, designed to smooth frizz-prone, damaged hair, and eliminate "fluff and puff" for shiny, glossy finish.

On first use, I was a fast fan. It's easy and pleasant to use, smoothing onto hair seamessly, combing in and washing out well and with a lovely scent to boot. I was immediately impressed by how it nourished my ends - which are usually pretty dry, so it was such a treat for them not to look frazzled.

My hair was noticeably smoother after use, which made styling and blow-drying a lot easier, as I had less frizz to contend with. Hair was shiny, glossy and super smooth after use - and my colour even looked refreshed and less stale.

One way to work out what's worth buying in the sales is being nosy about what other people are snapping up. Call it informed decision making or call it mob mentality, either way, a little birdie (ok fine, our in-house analytical tools) tells me that perfume is absolutely flying this year.

This makes so much sense to me. Scent is a real luxury, usually with price tags to match, plus it makes a beautiful - and generous-looking - gift. My pick of the bunch?

Can you guess what I'm holding in the picture? There's no time for answers on a postcard, so I'll reveal it's my Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin foundation, squeezed to within an inch of its life to get every last milliliter out.

And if you're wondering what drives a woman to squish down a foundation tube until it essentially ceases to exist, you've never tried Beautiful Skin. Perfect medium coverage, a glowy finish, skincare-packed - this is as good as base gets, and guess what else?

Feeling lost and confused on the internet because there's a sale on absolutely everywhere? Well, stop me if you've heard this one before...

You just can't beat a sweet, sweet sitewide discount (rather than just select products - the online equivalent of a sad sale rail) and pretty much everything is 30% off, including all my beloveds in the photo above: Colour Wow Style on Steroids, Pixi Glow Tonic,Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm and Cowshed Relax Bath and Shower Gel.

This means you have free rein to do that thing I was talking about before and stock up on buys you genuinely love, rather than not-quite-right ones just because they're cheap.

Excuse me while I bang on about perfume for the second time in an hour. As I said, I have it on good authority that fragrance is selling faster than glühwein at a Christmas market and that today's Jo Malone perfume deals are hotter than, er, glühwein at a Christmas market? I'll stop now.

The main thing to know about Jo Malone London is that, as a brand, they don't actually do sales. So we rely on the kindness of other retailers to throw us a little seasonal discount - and even still, very few of them do.

Shall we talk about big ticket items? My first brush with that phrase was during my slacker-friendly uni job at Blockbuster, when management trained us to push 'big ticket' tubs of Häagen-Dazs along with DVD copies of The Da Vinci Code.

To be fair, one for £4.19 but two for £5 was a good deal (it keeps for months in the freezer!)

The point of this nostalgic digression is that, ever since then, I've felt fondly towards deals that allow you to make similarly high-cost, investment in your future type purchases in a somewhat sensible fashion. Et voila:

Trainers are one of those year-round wardrobe staples that are endlessly versatile. So it's really no wonder these Superga canvas trainers are the item our readers can't seem to get enough of.

They sold quickly last Black Friday, and at just under £30, I'd stock up while you can.

I promise I'm not obsessed with shoes (ok, maybe a little bit), but if you're in the mood for a splurge, Russell & Bromley's Black Friday sale is the place to go.

I promised I’d be bringing you a mix of brilliant royal and home-inspired items this Black Friday and I’m sticking true to my word with my next top pick - Citric Acid. The discount isn’t massive but the results are so brilliant (and it’s so affordable) at £5.27 on Amazon that it scarcely matters. If you live in a hard water area like me, you need this in your life.

Now this next deal is one I feel our Fashion Ecommerce Editor Caroline would approve of - mainly because it’s shoe-related - or rather, boot related! You might have noticed (or maybe I’m just *that* into my royal observations) that the Princess of Wales and Duchess of Edinburgh love a knee-high boot in winter.

Duchess Sophie styles knee-high boots with a lot of jumper dresses and as soon as I came across this pair on Dune I couldn’t help being reminded of a much more expensive pair she owns from designer Gianvito Rossi.

The Tayla suede boots seem only to be on sale in the caramel tone and who knows why, but this is such a beautiful, soft colour, I can imagine a lot of people making the most of it.

Earlier I mentioned my Christmas Tree and yep, here I am doing it again - and for a very good reason. My Habitat 5ft Mixed Cashmere Artificial Tree arrived earlier today and cost me £38.95 including delivery with the code XMAS30 so I was a little skeptical about how it was going to look.

Let’s just say I’m very pleasantly surprised and I immediately messaged my mum with a picture once it was all assembled. It’s surprisingly bushy and full once you arrange all the branches the way you like it, does actually look quite real for a tree that, at full price, is only £50.

Are you a jewellery lover? I am, but I’m more likely to buy a pair of earrings or a necklace for someone else as a gift than I am to pick up something more myself. I’m probably not alone in this, though from the moment I saw Catherine, Princess of Wales’s pearl necklace on sale I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

Monica Vinader is a good mid-point between the ultra luxurious items Kate wears to royal events and affordable jewellery picks. As I write, the Princess’s Nura Pearl Necklace (usually £129) is now included in a flash sale, making it even more of a saving at £76.30 than when I last looked.

It’s one of those pieces that you can wear anywhere anytime and is gold-vermeil with a baroque pearl charm. So stunning.

Now December is right around the corner people are picking up their Christmas wreaths (mine was yet another Habitat sale purchase, the blueberry and cinnamon wreath) but what about wreaths for the rest of the year? Since moving I’ve loved having a different wreath on my door for each of the four seasons and my favourite by far was this Colorspec Lavender Wreath.

If you’re someone who likes giving your home a little spruce-up every now and then, a wreath can be an affordable and fun way to do it.

Despite the £10.99 price tag of the lavender one, it doesn’t scream "fake" which is something I’m very picky about. Now, this is a deal only for Amazon Prime members but never fear if you’re not one - I’ve found another wreath I think looks just as pretty.

A very good evening all, I'm Kerrie, woman&home's digital editor. It's not often I get free reign on a live blog to talk to you all, so I'm super-excited for the next couple of hours. This will be my tenth year covering Black Friday, yes, you read that right, 10 years I have been scouring the internet for deals worth buying. First up - L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Eye Bag Eraser. I tried this a few weeks ago for the first time and my goodness, what a difference - my (very happy-looking) before and after is remarkable.

I have such bad dark circles under my eyes, and while this doesn't work miracles, it comes pretty darn close! Usually £29.99, it's down to just £12! You only need a tiny amount too so a bottle lasts ages.

I interviewed Trinny Woodall earlier this year, and she gave me the lowdown on some of her beauty staples. In amongst them was this Beautifect 10x magnifying mirror, which Trinny said ‘changes everything’.

At first I remember thinking 'do I really want to see my face in that much detail?'. But having always struggled to apply makeup without my glasses on, I went with Trinny's advice. And she wasn't wrong. This unassuming little beauty tool has become one I no longer leave the house without - great for spotting and dealing with any makeup faux pas or missed whiskers/rogue nose hairs while on the go.

It's the softest, most comfortable bedding set I have ever used, which is a bold statement having tried many in my 46 years. Buy it, and you'll wonder how you ever slept without it.

In-keeping with the cosy theme of the previous post, now the temperature has changed, so too has my gym wardrobe. Now wanting leggings that leave a slither of ankle on show, I recently discovered Oner Active, and its leggings came highly recommended by many. So I tried a pair, and now they're my go-to activewear. Well-fitting, flattering, comfortable and warm, these quality high-waisted, full-length gym leggings - now down to just £34.80 – tick every box.

Christmas is my most favourite time of year, and despite every time it comes around promising I won't buy any more decorations, I never stick to it. I mean, how can you when Habitat has festive offerings like this Christmas Tree jug for £9 in the sale?!

As managing editor, I get to do some awesome jobs, but my favourite thing is gleaning wisdom from all the amazing articles the team puts out, and for the past month or so I've been following their product recommendations and early Black Friday deals tip-offs with extra enthusiasm.

I'm also a mum of two young boys and three cats, juggling home renovations, winter illnesses and toys on every surface. My partner and eldest son have birthdays in December so my Black Friday shopping list is a mish-mash of gifting, home essentials (smart storage, pleeeease), and the bits we need to keep our home functioning. But I know I won't be able to resist a treat for myself in there too. A bit like my brain most of the time, I have about three shopping carts on the go right now as I look for the best offers on the things we've been eyeing up for a while, so I'm here to rave about some of my favourite finds of the sales so far, to help you find the best buys for you.

It's early enough that you're probably reading this in your pyjamas. So I thought, why not tell you about mine? My favourite pair is a cotton set from Their Nibs, which is a brand I want you to know about.

Think good quality cotton that's breathable (trust me – I suffer from night sweats but these pyjamas don't leave me drenched at 3am like those made from synthetic fabrics can) and in so many beautiful and interesting styles, like the one below. I bought my tigers in the jungle set a couple of years ago and they're as good as new. If we're off to stay at someone else's house, they're the set I'll pack, as I know I'll feel good wandering around in my PJs rather than self-conscious!

One of my early Black Friday purchases came last week, and I couldn't be happier with it, so I thought I'd better do the honourable thing and share it with you as it's still on sale now.

I almost don't want to confess to you that I actually spent a couple of hundred pounds in July on professional cleaning of our rugs and a chair, as the state of them was getting me down (read: busy little kids spilling drinks and snacks on the regular, cats who refuse to wipe muddy paws and tradespeople throwing up black dust with their drilling).

But to be honest I can't tell the difference between the professionals results they got and the results I got with my new spotwash. Plus there's something weirdly satisfying about seeing for yourself the muck that you've cleansed!

The best Kindles make the perfect Christmas present for any book-lover, but they’re not just for seasoned bibliophiles. Whether you devour novels by the dozen or need a little nudge to tackle your 2027 to-be-read tower, a Kindle can be the kickstart your reading routine needs.

They’re full of clever conveniences: the built-in light means no more keeping the bedside lamp blazing at midnight, so you can read at any hour: dawn, dusk, or the dangerous “just one more chapter” zone. I used to pack half a suitcase of books for every holiday. When choosing between a bikini or a book of poetry, the poems always won. Then, one trip, I was testing out the Kindle Colorsoft, so I took the risk and didn't pack a single book, freeing up space for my swimsuits, dresses, and a spare pair of shoes.

I feel that I've teased the Kindle vs Kobo debate by suggesting alternatives to the Kindle Scribe, so we might as well get chatting about Kindle alternatives.

First things first: I use a Kindle. But having tested Kobo, Onyx, and reMarkable, I’m very aware that choosing a Kindle means compromising on some special extras. Each brand brings its own personality and perks to the party, and the designs are different enough that there really is something for every type of reader.

They’re ideal for professionals, students, or anyone who wants a do-everything device without switching to a full-blown tablet.

reMarkable
The minimalist’s dream. reMarkable devices aren’t traditional e-readers at all: they’re distraction-free digital notebooks with an e-ink display that genuinely feels like writing on paper. You get exceptional handwriting, seamless cloud syncing, and a screen designed for thinking rather than doomscrolling. You can read on them, but their true superpower is focus.

From footwear to my face, when it comes to makeup, mascara is the one thing I can't be without. I am so fair, if I don't wear some my eyelashes look almost translucent. As a member of woman&home's beauty team, I spend a lot of my day scrolling through retailers like Sephora, SpaceNK and Look Fantastic, which, while always dangerous for my purse, has given me quite a memory database of regular prices and past discounts stored away. So, essentially, when events like Black Friday and Cyber Weekend roll around, I know an average, run-of-the-mill deal when I see one, and equally, a rare one too.

As a perfume lover myself, I think now is a great time to invest in a new signature scent, and I've spotted several tempting savings, including this 30% discount on one of my current favourites.

The formula is sooooooo creamy and glides on like a dream. It doesn't feel dry like some lip liners can, and even comes equipped with a little sharpener on the other end (don't you just love it when brands do that?) for those who prefer a more precise application. It's sheer but buildable, and I find it provides just the right amount of colour to define and accentuate my lips withouth looking too 'done,' which I think makes it feel very versatile.

Balsam Hill are the Rolls-Royce of Christmas trees. They are expensive (eye-wateringly so for the top-end trees), but they are undisputedly one of the best brands if you want to invest in a tree that will last you a lifetime. Right now, they are running a Black Friday sale with up to 50% off.

The Silverado Slim tree (was £459, now £299) is ideal for those who want a smaller fit but without sacrificing on making a statement.

My parents have one of the flip trees and let me tell you, it is unlike any other artificial tree I've ever had the pleasure of testing. It simply flips over with thanks to a foot pedal, then the tree is ready to go - branches perfect, pre-lit and magnificent in under a minute.

Flip trees are VERY expensive, but they will last forever, so when you do the cost per year, they don't really cost that much. They have the Vermont White Spruce 6.5ft, pre-lit flip Tree (£1,399 now £979.)

Apologies, I was interrupted mid-post by the delivery of my new festive doormat, inspired after hearing about the viral gingerbread house doormat on sale at Habitat. I went for the pun-tastic Fab-Yule-Ous design. It's not the biggest saving, but it is a great festive find that is worth passing on.

Another distraction as I work away is my Whippet, Mr Brooks, who is blissfully curled up in his snuggle bed and loving life. Made me think to check the price of his bed, because I got that on sale around this time a few years ago...and BINGO they are! Because let's be honest, even if we're not spending on ourselves we'll spend on our beloved pooches.

Charley Chau dogs beds are the creme de la creme of pet products. I was hesitant at first because of the cost, but they are so worth it - even more so with 30% off. The best thing for me is that the faux fur covers are removable and machine washable to keep it looking it's best.

These leggings are something I always look for when there's a sale on. And not because my old ones need replacing - I just can't get enough of them!

The Spanx seamless leggings are my all-time favourites, and they're Claudia Winkleman's go-to when she's hosting The Traitors, too. They're not at all see-through and stretch like you wouldn't believe.

Honestly, when mine first arrived, I thought I'd been sent completely the wrong size, but they stretch to fit you perfectly, and smooth your silhouette in a similar way to the best shapewear would - only much more comfortable!

Don't tell my husband, but I have done a fair bit of Black Friday shopping myself. My first port of call was Rixo's site-wide 25% off, but after that, I headed to Stripe & Stare.

I already love the brand's super soft underwear, and on the advice of my fellow Fashion Editor Matilda Stanley, I've just bought the Smooth Sculpt Padded Bra in several colours.

I can’t believe yet another Black Friday sale period has almost drawn to a close, and how many incredible deals have been on offer this year. I’ve covered a fair few Black Fridays in my time as a journalist, and it really feels like the deals get bigger and better every year.

Now Cyber Monday has rolled around, there are just hours left to make the most of the incredible online savings to be had and I’m awake nice and early to share a few final buys that are personal sale must-haves, in case you still need a little extra inspiration when it comes to Christmas gift shopping or just a reason to treat yourself on the first day of December.

Of course, there are hundreds of pounds worth of savings to be made on countless incredible products over the Black Friday period. But, for me, it’s all about stocking up on beauty favourites that I buy on repeat, ensuring my stash of essentials isn’t running low, all for the lowest prices.

While this one is a bargain to start with and often drops down to even lower price points, the Garnier Ultimate Blends Banana Hair Food mask is as cheap as a cup of coffee in Amazon’s Black Friday sale, having been slashed from £8.99 to just £3.80.

I’ve tried plenty of hair masks in my time, both on the pricier side and lots from the drugstore, too. But this is the one I keep coming back to, which is great news for my bank account. I have hair that is naturally on the frizzier, more wiry side - and keeping it blonde means it’s a little more damaged than I’d like it to be. Christmas isn't here yet but it’s getting closer and with discounts appearing left, right and centre, the gifting season has definitely begun. Whether you’re starting to pick up pieces for your loved ones or come up with ideas for yourself, it can get a bit overwhelming.

Yet the sales mean it is worth trying to get ahead if you can and if you’re a jewellery-lover you can make a big saving - including on a necklace owned by the Princess of Wales. It’s gold-vermeil and features an iridescent baroque pearl pendant charm suspended at the bottom. Like so many of Monica Vinader’s chains, the necklace is adjustable, and you can also buy the pearl or the chain separately if you wanted to.

Personally, I love the way they look as one piece and this is how Catherine has always worn hers. She’s been spotted with it on at several different occasions in recent years, including her iconic joint engagement with Princess Anne in April 2022.

The two royals visited the HQ of the Royal College of Midwives and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and the Princess stepped out in a stunning cream outfit, her Monica Vinader Nura necklace and pearl drop earrings.

Many of the necklaces and earrings Catherine wears feature colourful stones and pearls are a neutral alternative. There’s something so classic and elegant about them and they bring some glamour without being too much for the daytime.

This is why pearl necklaces like hers are so great for wearing everyday as well as to special events. The future Queen has worn her Nura Pearl necklace to the Festival of Remembrance in 2024 and twice with different outfits during a trip to Denmark in 2022.

Jewellery is something many people rarely buy for themselves and yet there’s no reason why not and this would also make a gorgeous gift.

These have been seen less frequently over the years, though the Princess does still like to mix and match more affordable pieces with luxury ones.

This is perhaps why so many of us get a lot of outfit inspiration from her and although most people’s winter capsule wardrobe won’t feature a lot of exact matches, a discounted, beautiful necklace would make a lovely addition.

As beauty journalists, we've accumulated and tested our fair share of base products, so the fact that half of our team reach for this same complexion stick and concealer for radiant and seamless makeup is definitely something to take on board - and both buys are currently on sale.

While the best foundations are great for when you need added coverage or a specific finish, day-to-day, you might prefer something lighter or more low-maintenance. A concealer is a good option if you're looking to mask blemishes and your undereyes, but if it's more of a lightweight, all-over glow you seek, a hybrid formula or skin tint will likely be better suited for the job. We discovered that not one but two of our colleagues carry the same duo of complexion products in their makeup bags whilst discussing the Black Friday beauty deals, as they both just so happen to be discounted. So, if you've been eyeing up the Hourglass concealer or Merit complexion stick, here's why we love them - separately and together.

The two complexion buys our beauty team love and why you need them

On days when you just want to blur your dark circles and mask a blemish, or add a quick, all-over seamless glow to your skin - or both - we have two hard-working, tried and tested favourites to recommend: the Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer and Merit's The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick.

Both products have the love of our Digital Beauty Writer, Naomi Jamieson, and Digital Beauty eCommerce Editor, Aleesha Badkar, who wear them both separately and on some occasions, layered together. Let's first begin though but discussing this Hourglass makeup best-seller.

"With a high-coverage but blendable formula, this seamlessly covers dark areas, without sinking into fine lines or leaving dry patches on the face," say Aleehsa, adding that it's "Surprisingly lightweight to wear. It balances a creamy and comfortable-to-wear formula with long-lasting results. My top tip would be to apply with the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish concealer brush, as the soft but dense bristles buff it in smoothly and help it last longer."

Naomi adds, "I've yet to find a foundation or skin tint that this concealer doesn't work with. It's never pilled or separated, and is always my go-to when I have a stubborn blemish or very sleepy-looking undereye. It blends easily, though my tip is to actually let it sit on the skin for a few seconds before you blend it out (using a brush), as I find that as it starts to dry slightly, it affords even better coverage."

Now, if you're looking to streamline your makeup bag by retiring your concealer and foundation in favour of a low-maintenance, multi-tasking product, here's where Merit's complexion stick might just become the best purchase you'll make in the Cyber deals.

"I'm not usually a fan of on-the-go formulas, but Merit's The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick is the only one I actually use. Velvety but lightweight in texture, it blends and builds well and is comfortable to wear, but still lasts throughout the day," Aleesha notes: "It layers well with other products and is hydrating on the skin, with a radiant finish I love for a daytime look."

Naomi also swears by the stuff, "It makes getting ready in the morning such a breeze, as it blends out beautifully and offers just the right amount of coverage to blur redness and dark circles, but not appear too heavy or obviously foundation-y. As Aleesha says, it's so lightweight and creamy on the skin, allowing you to build it up or really sheer it out, depending on the look you're going for. I've also found that it plays really well under all of my best cream blushes and bronzers - it's been my go-to this autumn/winter, thanks to how hydrating and low-maintenance it is.

"Oh, and if you ever feel like you need a tiny bit of extra coverage, I find that the Hourglass concealer actually works really well with it. I tend to just apply it over very obvious spots on my chin or jawline, as the Merit stick handles most of the job on its own."

I never used to prioritise styling my hair, but thanks to the multi-tasking Babyliss Curl and Wave trio, I can achieve glamorous volume or beachy, tousled texture in a matter of minutes - and best of all, it's currently 40% off in the Black Friday sales.

While I can definitely see the merits of having an array of hair tools at your disposal, from the best straighteners to techy air stylers, I've always been fairly low-maintenance when it comes to zhushing up my hair. I have naturally quite straight strands, which makes a lazy approach very easy, but recently, I've actually been giving a very different impression to the people in my life. I've been turning up to brunches with voluminous, defined curls and office days with loose, blown-out-looking waves, but little do they know that achieving said looks has scarcely added 15 minutes to my morning routine. The secret, I hear you ask? Babyliss' Curl and Wave Trio.

As the name suggests, it comes with three interchangeable barrels, which allow you to tightly curl or softly tousle your hair without limiting space in your dresser or leaving you to detangle a mass of cables. When it comes to investing in one of the best curling irons, a key thing you need to consider is what kind of curl or wave you're looking to achieve. A very thin barrel will deliver very tight curls, while a wider one will leave you with large and loose curls or waves. A tapered curler is a good way to go if you want a bit of both, but when it comes to versatility, I've hit the motherload.

Babyliss' Curl and Wave trio is the multi-tasking tool that has elevated my styling routine to no end, allowing me to easily flit between a whole head of bouncy curls to soft, 'undone' texture, without buying or storing multiple devices. It's essentially a multi-styler, but for those who want an array of different curling options and desire traditional heated barrels over air curlers.

My favourite of the barrels is the oval one, as it just creates these chic, very fluid sort of bends in my hair that look so effortless and dare I say, French. Whenever I curl my hair with this attachment, I'm left with the same voluminous effect of having used wide rollers, but in a fraction of the time.

I also really like the conical, tapered barrel as it delivers very uniform, tight curls that feel so bouncy and genuinely last for days. In fact, longevity isn't reserved for just this wand, but all of them. I've found both the waves and curls stay so well - though I do of course also use some styling product to help with this. Namely, the Hershesons Almost Everything Cream and the John Frieda Hairspray. Also, like when using any kind of heat on your hair, be sure to invest in one of the best heat protection sprays. I never use this tool without having first spritzed the length of my hair with one of these.

Honestly, I could write a full-blown essay on why I like and reach for this trio tool so often, but as the saying goes, a picture paints a thousand words. Above, you can see my hair after using all three of the barrels; left, the conical, middle, the oval and right, the twisted wand.

Even with my long hair, the barrels make quick work of shaping and bending each section, and it even comes equipped with a heat-resistant glove for added ease and control. The heat-up time is another thing that impressed me. It takes just 15 seconds, which streamlines my morning beauty routine even more.

How to used the Babyliss Curl and Wave trio

The barrels can be changed by simply twisting the black lock at the top of the device itself, turning it to the 'unlock' position and then pulling the wand off. You can then swap it with the one you want to use, before securing it back into place again with the twist-lock. Ensure you only change the wand heads when the tool is unplugged and cool.

When curling, I recommend sectioning your hair into manageable chunks before curling out and away from your face. For a very effortless, 'undone' look, you can swap the direction in which you're curling as you go. To lock your curls or waves in place and to smooth any flyaways, I recommend using a styling cream, like Hershesons. For added bounce or a tousled look, opt for a texturising spray like the Hair By Sam McKnight Cool Girl Barely There texture mist.

For an embarrassing number of years, I made do with the hard white earphones that came free with my iPhone, and some slightly better pink silicone earphones that my auntie got me for Christmas many moons ago. Both were wired, the first pair were too big for my ear canal so made it feel sore after about 10 minutes, and the latter eventually perished after years of use.

In a bold move of self-care a couple of years ago, I decided to finally invest in some wireless headphones that would be more comfortable – and would hopefully deliver better sound quality. But I felt weirdly daunted about setting up and getting to grips with a new piece of tech, when my old plug-in-and-go earphones had required no brain power.

Enter the Sony WH-CH520 wireless headphones: lightweight and cushioned enough that I'm comfy wearing them for the length of a podcast, video call or while cooking dinner (and have even fallen asleep in them... more than once), and easy enough that I can get them on, powered up and adjusted one-handed. And though they're not in our list of the best exercise headphones, they're great for wearing while walking 30 minutes a day.

Setting up and usability

After all my procrastinating about it, setting the Sony WH-CH520 headphones up and pairing them with my phone for the first time took me less than 10 minutes, and then it was lovely tangle-free listening.

It's a case of downloading the Sony Sound Connect app, turning on Bluetooth on your phone, then switching on the headphones and holding down the power/Bluetooth button to sync them. the app guides you through it and if you've ever used the button on your home Wi-fi router to connect a device, it's the same deal.

I really like that the central play/power button has a big raised rectangle in the middle, and the volume up button has a small braille-like dot, so I can easily feel around to find the right button without having to take the headphones off and look.

There's a subtle 'L' and 'R' marked inside the headphones to show you which way around to wear them, but after a few days of wear I quickly became used to knowing which side the buttons should be on, and using that to intuitively 'feel' which way around they should go.

These features may or may not sound particularly useful to you, but I've used them to help me get my headphones on and working one-handed while nursing my then-baby, while stirring dinner, and when popping them on in low lighting like my evening commute.

One other thing that makes them easy to use: I barely ever have to remember to charge them. Sony says they have a battery life of up to 50 hours, which sounds about right in my experience.

When I do have to charge them, it's just a universal micro USB port, and they give you a charging lead in the box. They also have a quick charge function if you're in a rush.

Sound quality

I'm not going to lie, one of the reasons I picked these headphones was because Sony is a brand I know and trust for great sound quality. I'm no audio expert, but I haven't been disappointed. Music, podcasts and video calls all sound clear and great.

They feature what Sony calls '360 Reality Audio' which basically means if a track was recorded with those layers of audio (sorry, I don't know the sound engineery term) then you might hear, say, one vocal in your left ear and another in your right ear. I really love the effect; it reminds me of listening to a choir in a big church, with the soprano section and the tenor section at different sides of the stage and all bouncing around in your head. So nice.

The headphones are lightweight and an on-ear style, which I find really comfortable without being too big (I'm only 5'3" and quite small all over). It's worth pointing out that though they muffle ambient sounds, they're not noise cancelling. I wore them along Bath high street at lunchtime today with no music playing, just to test out my theory, and I could hear passing strangers clearly enough to know what they were saying. I personally like that, as I feel safer when I can hear the world around me, but if you want a noise cancelling pair of headphones you may prefer a different pair, such as the over-ear Sony WH-CH720N.

The Sony WH-CH520 wireless headphones came out in February 2023, so they're not the newest or the highest spec. But I really don't care. I've had mine for almost two years now, and find them simple, comfy and great-sounding, so recommend them if those are the things that matter to you too.

I never thought I’d say it, but I’m starting to think that a tailored suit might be edging dresses as a new wish-list item for my winter capsule wardrobe. The Duchess of Edinburgh and Princess of Wales are both big fans of a co-ord and Sophie just followed in Catherine’s trendy footsteps with a chic power-suit that oozes confidence.

Just a week after we admired the Princess’s dove-grey suit at a summit in London, Duchess Sophie stepped out for several engagements in Oxford wearing a grey checked blazer and matching wide-leg trousers. The jacket was double-breasted, with contrasting tortoiseshell buttons and crisp, notched lapels.

We’ve seen the Duchess of Edinburgh in this blazer before and although she loves shopping at British brands, this piece is by the American designer Vince. The heritage check pattern gives both the jacket and the matching trousers a traditional edge and more dimension, as it breaks up the grey with darker and lighter tones.

You could easily wear a blazer like this with jeans if you wanted a more relaxed date night outfit, though Sophie and Catherine have shown so many times how elegant a full suit can be. A matching set instantly makes your ensemble look very cohesive and put-together.

They’re also very easy to style as you know the items work together and you can mix and match different tops depending on how smart you want to be. Whilst the Princess of Wales recently wore a white blouse with her grey suit, her aunt-in-law went cosier.

Whether you love affordable knitwear, or investing in the best cashmere jumpers, sweaters are a must for the winter months. Sophie wore a deep claret-red one with her suit and matched her clutch to it, though her heeled ankle boots were a grey-taupe that tied in with her co-ord.

Sticking to just one or two colours is a trick the royals often use to bring a level of sophistication to their looks and it also makes things easier. The neutral soft grey of the Duchess’s blazer and trousers makes this set very versatile and it balanced the bold maroon jumper and bag.

She could’ve gone for burgundy boots too, but her choice of a paler tone softened her outfit. These elements were a contrast against the structured suit and Sophie’s boots had pointed toes and block heels that gave a subtle amount of elevation. I also love that she didn’t go for black or brown boots either, as this grey-taupe colour was something a little different.

The Duchess of Edinburgh wore this look for visits to Windale Community Hub and Europe’s largest social enterprise, RAW Workshop. It was a smart outfit and a power suit naturally feels formal and purposeful, though you could swap the jumper for a sleek shirt or cami to make a co-ord party-ready instead.

Sophie was clearly comfortable wearing it all day, as she helped out at the RAW Workshop with some drilling and chatted with people over a hot drink at the hub. The hub delivers in-house services as well as hosting community-run projects, creating a space that brings people together.

These engagements in Oxford were the Duchess’s first since she recently returned from a ten-day solo visit to Central and South America.

When the Aldi Reformer Pilates machine first cropped up in the middle aisle, we'd barely blinked before it sold out. Then it restocked and sold out again. For the third time, the supermarket has restocked this easy way to do Reformer Pilates at home on a budget.

The revolution that walking pads brought to home cardio workouts has come to Reformer Pilates. At £149.99, the Aldi Reformer Pilates machine is a steal. Landing in stores on November 30th, the reformer machine is full-size and has a gliding desk. It's height adjustable and offers five levels of resistance for those looking to do a Pilates workout at home. When it's not in use, the machine can be folded, wheeled away, and stored out of sight. It also comes with five resistance bands and a spare wheel.

Aldi did the maths, and it's thought that this machine would save £1,670 a year for those who go to a regular class once a week. As most other complete Reformer Pilates machines cost about the same, it's a £1500+ saving whichever way you look at it.

Online, people have been raving about the machine, saying it's a good tool for the price, feels steady when in use, has an adjustable footbar, and is easy to store. The versatility of having a complete at-home Reformer machine is not to be taken for granted, either. Compared to the Pilates boards that feature in my alternatives, you'll get more of the studio experience.

However, you'll still need space to store the machine, which measures 50 inches long and 26.8 inches wide when folded. When unfolded, it measures 84 inches, which others have pointed out isn't a lot for this kind of equipment. It may mean your range of motion will be shorter, especially if you're taller, and it could prevent you from getting a good stretch. It also sells out almost immediately when it restocks, and is only available to buy in store, so if you want to pick one up, you may need to change your Sunday plans.

The Duchess of Edinburgh is just as much of a fan of knee-high boots and sturdy ankle boots this time of year as we all are, but trainers should also feature in a winter capsule wardrobe. They’re great when you want all the comfort and Sophie’s classic white Puma trainers are currently the lowest price I’ve seen in a long time.

She proved the Carina trainers are as practical as they are stylish when she wore them to play a game of Badminton at the All England Badminton Championships in 2024. This is a hefty 59% saving and who can argue with that as we look ahead to Christmas? Sophie’s Carinas are white and have a tennis shoe-inspired design that’s sleeker and chicer than most workout trainers. They’re made with a premium leather upper, rubber sole and a cushioned footbed for extra functionality.

The Duchess of Edinburgh made full use of this as she showed off her skills on the badminton court in Birmingham, though these Puma trainers didn’t look specifically "sporty" when styled with her checked wide-leg trousers and navy jumper.

I personally love wearing my best white trainers with smarter items like Sophie did, as it is a clever way of getting more wear out of tailored staples in relaxed settings. Just like jeans and a blazer, trainers and trousers strike a perfect smart-casual balance.

The Duchess of Edinburgh isn’t spotted out in public wearing trainers at all, which just goes to show how much she loves her Puma pair. They give a subtle amount of elevation thanks to the sole, which is slightly thicker than the one on the Princess of Wales’s beloved Supergas.

"Whilst Kate's white trainer of choice is the Superga plimsolls, Sophie loves the slightly chunkier Carina style by PUMA," says woman&home’s Digital Fashion Ecommerce Editor Caroline Parr. "Cara Delevingne is a fan too, and they're the kind of trainers that will work with everything in your wardrobe, making them worth every penny."

If you’ve been looking around for a new pair of trainers now is one of the best times of year to consider pressing that ‘purchase’ button for the simple reason that sales are everywhere. Finding the products you want in amongst all of this isn’t always easy, though Duchess Sophie’s Puma Carinas are one of those pieces that can easily slot into your wardrobe.

Plenty of other similar styles from the brand are discounted right now too, as are loads of other white trainers if you perhaps want something daintier like Catherine’s plimsolls, or even chunkier to give you great grip in winter’s unpredictable weather.

Black and white trainers or colourful designs are also very popular right now, but I think the Duchess of Edinburgh’s choice of plain white is the most versatile and understated.

If you’re feeling especially bombarded by Black Friday deals this year, you’re not alone. Black Friday burnout is real – so we've tracked down some expert advice to help you make sense of what 'decision fatigue' is and how to avoid it.

Black Friday sales started earlier than ever this year. Amazon declared a full Black Friday Week and launched early deals before that back in November, while many major retailers have stretched their Black Friday sales into month-long promotions.

No wonder shoppers are struggling to keep track of when the sales actually begin. Google queries for 'Is today Black Friday?' and 'When is Black Friday?' have surged as consumers try to make sense of a shopping season that now spans several weeks instead of a single day.

The data proves that it can be a stressful time:

• 58% of consumers describe holiday shopping as stressful, according to Deloitte’s Holiday Retail Survey 2025
• 85% of online shoppers abandon their carts due to frustration or indecision, Accenture reports
• 84% expect to cut back spending this year, based on PwC’s Holiday Outlook 2025

Why Black Friday feels mentally draining

Women – especially those over 40 – often shoulder an invisible mental load. Throw in pressure to make Christmas perfect and the noise and urgency of Black Friday, and this time of year can suddenly feel pretty overwhelming.

Dr Hannah Nearney is a clinical psychiatrist and UK medical director at Flow Neuroscience, which develops brain stimulation solutions for mental wellbeing. “Holiday stress isn’t only about money. It’s about mental energy," she says.

“People aren’t just overwhelmed by buying. They are mentally strained by constant decision-making. When the brain gets overloaded like that, we quickly see stress 'mode' kicking in, which can worsen other problems like anxiety and depression.”

Dr. Nearney adds that difficulties can include low mood, poor concentration, and overwhelm as a result of decision fatigue overloading the prefrontal cortex, the brain’s region responsible for planning and emotional regulation.

It's interesting – in the wake of today's Autumn UK Budget – to note that financial pressure amplifies decision fatigue.

“Economic uncertainty keeps the brain and nervous system in a constant state of anxiety and alertness,” said Dr. Nearney. “This makes it harder for people to manage holiday shopping and planning. Thus, we can’t simply enjoy the season.”

How to beat Black Friday burnout

The good news is that you can avoid decision fatigue and Black Friday burnout by adopting a few simple techniques for a more mindful and less stressful shopping experience. Here's how:

1. Decide before you shop

Consumer expert Grace Forell, speaking on This Morning this week, said: “The people who win Black Friday aren’t the fastest clickers – they’re the ones who’ve already done their thinking.”

That means deciding, ahead of time:

• What you’re shopping for
• Your budget
• Your trusted retailers
• What qualifies as a genuinely good deal

2. Shop in focused bursts

We all know the frustration of getting stuck in an endless scroll, only to feel horrified at the time we've wasted. Break the cycle with a short reset - it's technique proven to help your brain make clearer decisions. Set yourself 20–30 minute windows in which to shop, then take a break. Make a cup of tea, go for a walk, or even treat yourself to a few minutes of stretching. And if in doubt, incorporate Grace Forell’s Black Friday shopping rule of thumb: “If you only want it because it’s 30% off, leave it.”

3. Prioritise the categories that offer the best value

Knowing which categories consistently offer the best Black Friday deals can help you to shop smartly and decisively, without getting distracted by things you weren't planning and probably don't need. Try applying this famous decision-making principle to your Black Friday shopping as a helpful way to avoid buyer's remorse. If an item doesn’t tick 90% of your criteria, simply don't add it to your basket. If you're after a waterproof coat and the one you're tempted by is only shower-proof, it's not the one, and not worth buying just because of the discount. No arguments.

5. Limit comparison overload

According to Sky News, a study by consumer champion Which? found eight out of 10 products in last year's Black Friday season were not at their best price. Oof. Nobody wants to get caught out by falling for a dud that seemed like a deal, but endless price comparing can overload the brain. Use a site like ours for price comparison guidance so you don't have to do all the maths yourself, and limit yourself to only having two browser tabs open at a time. More tabs just means more decisions to make.

Gen Z reins in spending to protect wellbeing

As a mum of three, two of whom are Gen Z, it doesn't surprise me to learn that this demographic is bucking the trend when it comes to Black Friday burnout. According to PwC’s report, they plan to reduce holiday spending by 23%, more than any other age group, while showing a growing interest in purchases related to wellness and mental health.

“Younger people are realising that mental energy is finite,” adds Dr. Nearney. “They’re beginning to view focus and calm as resources worth protecting.”

It’s a mindset that could help the rest of us rethink Black Friday, too. It seems the answer to cognitive burnout is not avoiding decisions altogether, but upping your self-care practices.

As Dr. Nearney says, “The goal isn’t to avoid decisions – it’s to support your brain so you can make them calmly.”

With a little planning, you can approach Black Friday with clarity and intention – and still bag the deals that genuinely feel worth it.

Tips for building a home gym

• Consider the room temperature: While we're heating our homes for winter, home gym environments don't need to be quite so cosy. "A temperature between 20ºC to 22ºC is ideal, though many gyms tend to be lower at between 13ºC to 20ºC to help with people sweating on treadmills," says Martin Sharp, a certified personal trainer and coach.
• Think about lighting: "Lighting is important, not just from a safety angle of being able to see what you are doing, where you are going, and avoid any possible obstacles. It also has an impact on energy levels, concentration, mood, and athletic performance," says Sharp.
• Create floor space: "Allow a little floor space for exercises that don’t use equipment," he adds, such as yoga mat workouts and standing ab exercises.
• Don't forget the basics: "Wearing the appropriate clothing is essential, and if your body is trying to conserve heat wearing something over your face, ears, hands and feet may be necessary," says Sharp. "Some people, such as those with heart conditions and asthma, should check with a professional before working out in the cold."

When does the Decathlon sale end?
