Stepping out for Prime Video's celebration of the new series Elle, which is a prequel spin-off to the film Legally Blonde, Reese Witherspoon dressed in all-pink (a signature of Elle Woods). And while the outfit brought all the 2000s nostalgia, her manicure actually felt very in line with 2026's nail trends. The beauty of this cute bell-bottom-esque bob is also its versatility. It will work for daytime just as well as it will for an evening or more formal outing. You can even make the flicks look more dramatic, but personally, we like how natural the Klass' look here.

If you have naturally straight hair or prefer to style it that way, you need only run your straighteners over the ends, turning them out slightly to create the flicked effect. For those with curly or wavy hair, you may need to blow-dry your hair straight first, followed by a smoothing hot brush or using straighteners throughout your hair, before creating the bell-like shape. Even still, though, this last step is straightforward and as we can see, very stylish. Do facial exercises actually work?

The short answer is: yes, with consistency. The muscles in our face, just like the muscles in our body, respond to targeted movement. Over time, regularly working the facial muscles can help to improve tone and definition, while targeted massage strokes boost circulation and lymphatic drainage - which goes a long way towards that bright, sculpted look we're all chasing.

How often should I be exfoliating?

As Dr Tego advises: "The important thing is you need to find your skin's balance of enough exfoliation to see results, but without stripping the barrier. This is typically two to three times weekly, and you want to avoid using one at the same time as a retinoid."

Her rule of thumb? If a product promises instant results, breaks down your skin barrier, or irritates and inflames your skin, it's a red flag. "Anything that is irritating or inflaming your skin," she explained, "it's not going to be for the best of your long-term benefit."

A simple, hydrating sheet mask for a bit of a glow-boost every now and then is fine. The problem comes when the format and the ingredient don't match. If you're reaching for a sheet mask packed with actives like retinol, that's where she pumps the brakes hard.

"When you find a sheet mask with an active, like a retinol, this is a red flag," she says, "because the format of the product doesn't match the ingredient." Applying a potent active under occlusion - essentially sealing it against your skin - can cause unnecessary irritation, especially in sensitive areas. Her advice: save sheet masks for what they do best, which is a cooling and/or hydrating treat, and leave the serious actives to your serums and creams where you can actually control the application.

2. Makeup wipes

This one might sting a little, but Dr. Idriss isn't a fan of daily makeup wipes. The operative word is daily - she acknowledges they have a time and a place (think: the emergency pack by your bed for those nights when washing your face feels like climbing Everest), but as a regular part of your routine, they're not doing you any favours.

The issue is the physical dragging motion. Dr. Idriss described it as trying to clean an orange covered in foundation by rubbing a wipe across its surface - you're just pushing the product around, not actually removing it from the pores. Regular use can also disrupt the skin barrier, leading to irritation and sensitivity over time. Her suggestion is to keep a pack for SOS moments only, and use a proper cleanser the rest of the time.

3. Physical face scrubs

If you've been vigorously buffing your skin with a gritty face scrub in the name of exfoliation, Dr. Idriss would like a word. Physical scrubs - particularly anything with rough, irregular particles - can create micro-tears in the skin, cause inflammation, and compromise the skin barrier with repeated use. She noted that she has seen patients use them on their faces with the intention of getting rid of dead skin cells, but the reality is that the abrasion can do more damage than good.

The good news is that you don't have to give up exfoliation entirely. Dr. Idriss recommends chemical exfoliants - think AHAs and BHAs - as a far gentler, more effective alternative that works with your skin rather than against it.

4. Collagen-labelled creams

The word "collagen" on a moisturiser can be a very appealing selling point. Who wouldn't want to slap on a cream and replenish their skin's collagen? Here's the science reality check though: topical collagen molecules are simply too large to penetrate the skin and rebuild anything from the inside.

Dr. Idriss held up an example during the podcast - a well-known collagen gel moisturiser - and was clear that while it was a perfectly lovely hydrating product, the "collagen" label was misleading. "The word 'collagen' on this moisturiser makes people think that it's going to help them replenish their collagen," she said. "But it's a hydrating moisturiser. It's not going to replenish your collagen." The takeaway: a good moisturiser is absolutely worth having - just don't pay a premium for the collagen promise on the label. That's marketing, not science.

5. Products promising instant results

Dr. Idriss's broader red flag - and arguably the most useful filter you can apply next time you're scrolling through your favourite beauty shopping website - is anything that promises you a transformation overnight. From miracle serums to "glow in 24 hours" tonics, the skincare industry is full of products leaning hard on the instant gratification angle.

Her take is refreshingly straightforward: real, lasting improvement to your skin happens over time, through consistency and a simple, well-chosen routine. A gentle cleanser, a good face moisturiser, and one of the best facial sunscreens every single day will always outperform a shelf full of quick-fix products. When a brand is shouting about instant results, Dr. Idriss says, that should be your cue to slow down and question what you're actually buying.

From adding a golden shimmer to your décolletage to evening out the skin on your arms and legs, body makeup is the quick and easy step you may be overlooking in your summertime prep - and Lisa Snowdon has shared her go-tos that are sure to get you glowing.

The best fake tans are usually the default for a sunkissed glow, but if you're looking for something quicker and easier to remove, body makeup is the way to go. Taking to Instagram, Lisa shared a carousel of pictures showing her wearing a lovely, multi-coloured floral dress, with perfectly styled hair and radiant skin, before filling us in on the 'tricks of the trade' for achieving such a flattering and radiant look in the caption. Which turns out to be three simple products, each under £35...

What are these tricks, we hear you ask? Snowdon credits, "a good bra and body make-up." In terms of the latter, she said these particular buys are "great for uneven skin like mine," and shouted out brands including Vita Liberata, whose Body Blur product is a favourite of Digital Beauty Editor, Fiona McKim's, St Tropez and Sol De Janeiro, specifically for their Glowmotions Glow Oil - for adding "a little shimmer."

Vita Liberata's Body Blur, for one, is available in three shades and is transfer-resistant and infused with skincare ingredients like shea butter and glycerin. As the name suggests, it offers blurring coverage, making it ideal for quickly buffing over your arms and chest if you're wearing a strapless or sleeveless top or dress, for instance. Unlike the best gradual tans and so on, though it washes straight off, making it quite the low-maintenance, summertime saviour.

Along with an array of popular fake tans, St Tropez also offer a rinse-off body bronzer, which delivers a glow and tint to your skin that is smudge-proof and water-resistant. Again, a great option for the summer months and spontaneous outings where you want your skin to look even and luminous, but don't have the time for a full-body fake tanning session.

As for applying your chosen body makeup, Snowdon recommends applying it "over your body moisturiser, with a mitt or better still a brush to buff the product in." As well as their Body Blur, Vita Liberata also make a contoured tanning brush for this very purpose, which Snowdon might be referring to.

If you ever read interviews in which celebrities are asked about their glowing complexions, you'll be familiar with this old chestnut: "I just drink lots of water and get eight hours of sleep a night." Sure.

If you've ever been nudged towards an AI skin analysis tool while browsing your favourite beauty website, or noticed friends and family uploading selfies to ChatGPT and asking it to assess their skin, you're not alone.

The latest AI beauty trend sees users submitting close-up photographs to a chatbot and requesting a "dermatologist-style" analysis for advice on the best hyaluronic acid serums or to narrow down the best face moisturiser for them. The results arrive complete with magnified call-out bubbles picking apart pores, fine lines and texture, alongside a personalised list of product recommendations.

It might sound like a savvy, high-tech shortcut to better skin, something that feels, on the surface, like a clever and convenient way to get expert-sounding guidance from the comfort of your own home, but leading Consultant Dermatologist Dr Anjali Mahto, founder of London clinic Self London, says the reality is far more troubling.

The skincare mistake you could be making with AI

"Social media filters were damaging enough by giving us an impossible, poreless ideal to strive for," says Dr Mahto. "But this new ChatGPT trend takes the danger to an entirely new level. It isn't just smoothing over reality; it is actively pathologising normal human skin."

The trend involves users treating a chatbot as a substitute for professional medical advice, something Dr Mahto says is fundamentally flawed. Unlike a trained dermatologist, AI has no ability to clinically examine your skin, take a medical history, or account for the complex, individual factors that influence skin health. What it can do, she argues, is make you feel worse about yourself.

"By using AI to draw magnified circles around pores, fine lines and microscopic texture, we are triggering an extreme, unhealthy hyperawareness in consumers," she explains. "Pores are a biological necessity, not a flaw to be 'fixed' by an AI-recommended serum. Minor texture is normal. When we allow a chatbot to clinically dissect our selfies, we aren't just getting bad skincare advice; we are fuelling a modern epidemic of skin-focused anxiety and body dysmorphia."

As a dermatologist who treats genuine skin conditions - including acne, rosacea and severe pigmentation - Dr Mahto is well placed to judge what constitutes a real skin concern versus the kind of entirely normal characteristics that AI is now framing as problems to be solved.

She is also clear that the issue isn't simply one of vanity. Turning to a chatbot for what amounts to medical advice carries real clinical risks.

What to do instead

For those who find private dermatology appointments out of reach financially, she has a more reassuring alternative: "Your first port of call should be your local high-street pharmacist. They are highly trained healthcare professionals who can clinically assess minor skin complaints and recommend effective, evidence-based pharmacy staples." For online research, she recommends the NHS website or the British Association of Dermatologists patient hub - both of which offer free, rigorously verified guidance - over any AI tool.

The message from Dr Mahto is clear - your skin doesn't need an AI audit, it needs a little more kindness, and a lot less scrutiny.

1. Section the hair into rows as you curl

When it comes to styling a bob, Douglas recommends sectioning the hair horizontally from the hair at the nape of your neck and working towards the crown of your head to ensure you don't miss any strands. The hairstylist explains: “We've done one row, another row, probably three rows, and that's it, we're done.”

2. Curl away from your face and leave the ends out

"The first thing I'm going to use is called the MDLondon Curl, and what we're going to do here is wrap this one in particular forwards," advises Douglas, while curling one strand in front of the ear towards the face, before curling the rest of the locks away from the face.

"The one [strand] in front of the ear goes forward, and everything else will go backwards, explains Douglas. "As for how many times you wrap the hair around the wand, Michael adds: "You can see what we're doing there, we've wrapped around literally one and a half times, leave the ends out. There's two different reasons for that. One, it creates just a very modern feel, but the other thing is you maintain the shape of the bob."

To create a tight and defined curl, the hairstylist also recommends we "bring it lower", meaning to bring the wand lower down the strand of hair, towards the roots.

For those using a hair straightener, Douglas recommends pointing the tool upwards before curling away from the face: “Now, if you're doing this yourself, I would have a tendency to have the iron going upwards like this, right? So you put the iron in, it's going up, and then I would curl away from the face and pull down.”

3. Finish with a texturising spray

As the pièce de résistance to the hairstyle, Douglas recommends finishing with a spritz of texturising spray: "We've now got all this lovely movement and texture in the hair. Then I would use texturising spray. [It] is really good and it creates this really lovely messy kind of texture."

4. Play around with it

Once completely styled, don't be afraid to play around with the hair, whether that be tucking the hair behind the ears or flipping strands over. As Michael explains: "It's worth having a play around with it once you've done all this, just slightly flip the hair over the other way and just see what you get." In fact, his 'French pleat' method actually makes it look easier, as there's no hair ties or copious brushing involved - just five or so hair pins, and a few spritzes of texture spray. Below, Douglas breaks down the look, step by step, and shares tips for adding height to your roots and elevating the 'do with accessories.

How to create an effortless updo on short hair, by Michael Douglas

"The trick with making something look effortless is to actually just put in less effort," Michael Douglas tells us, adding that when styling short hair, you can only put up the hair you've got, "so, it’s just a case of scooping some of this up, really and trying to pin it in place."

To recreate this chic look exactly, we suggest starting with a similarly wavy base using one of the best curlers for short hair. You'll also need a few curved hairpins (like these, available at Boots), a backcombing brush and a texture spray.

1. Add some height at your roots

Douglas recommends adding some volume at your crown, with a bit of backcombing. "We just use this little teasing brush here," he can be seen using the Tease brush from his brand, mdlondon, which he explains has dense, different-length bristles that make it 'mega' easy and quick to backcomb the hair with.

"Just grabbing the hair, all we’re really doing is this root area here. We’re just going to push down once and then twice - that gives us just that little bit of extra height."

Then Douglas says, "What I want to do really is just grab quite a bit of this hair and then just start to pin it up, while leaving some of it down."

2. Twist, pin & spray

As we can see in the video above, Douglas just scoops up the hair at the back and twists it, rolling the hair in on itself to create almost a chignon style look.

Douglas recommends using a sticky spray, like a hair spray or texturising spray, at this point, as this will help you grab onto the hair and make it do what you want it to do.

Onto the method, "I’ve literally just grabbed the hair and I’m just trying to twist it in on itself. So I’ve rolled the hair, a bit like a French pleat there, and you just get a curvy grip. If you can run one of the ends of the curvy grip across the scalp and the other one into the pleat itself, you should find that it’ll stay there. And once that’s in, you do the same, but coming from the top to the bottom." Douglas then proceeds to add the two-pronged grips through the sides of the twist, too, to ensure it's really secure.

If you're going out, Douglas also suggests sticking a few of these pins in your handbag.

3. Don't be afraid to start again

"I always say this: when you put your hair up, you can never put it up the same way twice, you know, so if you put it up and you don’t particularly like it, then just take it down and do it again," says Douglas.

"You can do the same thing again, but it’ll look different. So, it’s just a case of finding like something that you feel like best represents you."

4. Add accessories or change up your fringe

Once you're happy with your twisted updo, a lovely way to finish or add interest to your 'do is with a hair clip or accessory.

"What’s also really nice is if you have a little hair accessory like a hair slide, diamanté grip or something like that - just bang it straight in that crease there. Super nice, a flower looks really good in there, sometimes you get a butterfly or something, you know, it really brings the whole thing to life."

Your fringe styling can also help to change up this look. Douglas opted for a sideswept fringe, which he said really helped the style 'pop.'

During a recent trip to New York City to celebrate the launch of her Victoria Beckham X GAP collaboration, Beckham stepped out debuting one of her biggest hair transformations we've seen in a while.

The hairdo in question saw her rich mocha-hued locks brightened with a buttery blonde balayage for a natural-looking, golden sun-kissed effect, which only enhanced her fresh and radiant complexion. However, unlike her platinum bob of 2007, Beckham opted to keep her natural brunette tone at the roots, which seamlessly graduates into the brighter, creamy hue through the lengths and ends of her hair.

Posting to Instagram, Beckham's longtime hairstylist, Ken Paves, showed the new hair colour in all its glory, which saw the Spice Girls singer with longer waist-length locks paired with her go-to subtle beachy wave styling. While we don't know exactly what tool was used to create the soft curls, we'd recommend one of the best curling irons that boasts a large barrel to create that effortlessly undone effect.

And, let's be honest, has been serving serious beauty and fashion inspiration ever since.

From Deeley's haircare trio that delivers that signature shine to the eyelash duo behind those long, fluttery lashes, we've left no stone unturned in uncovering her beauty secrets. So when the opportunity to sit down with the new L’Oréal Paris Ambassador arose, we were there faster than you can say 'because we're worth it.'

Our exclusive beauty Q&A with Cat Deeley

You always look so fresh on This Morning - do you have an early morning skincare routine?
"As you get older, your face takes a little bit more time to wake up. So I get up at 5am, and I like a little potter. I like a green juice, a cup of coffee, and then I make sure I'm moisturised. The Revitalift Laser Moisturiser is great for first thing. It plumps, hydrates, but it also gives a lovely base for my makeup. Then I jump in the car at about 6.20, put on some cold eye patches out of the fridge - I like Charlotte Tilbury's - by the time I get to the studio, that's taken care of any puffiness, and I'm good to go."

How does that differ on off-screen days?
"I basically do very little at all. I'll still use a serum and a moisturiser. I do a bit of an eyebrow, and I love an eyelash curler - the Kevyn Aucoin one. I think that really helps. And then that's it. Mum bun in and off I go, probably in yoga gear. If I'm off duty, I'm not going to lie, I'll stay in it all day!"

What products would we always find in your handbag?
"Oh, I love eight-hour cream. You get that great big tube, you can whack it on any dry bits at all. I put it on the backs of my hands as well. I always slather it on, I like it really thick."

Any other daily essentials?
"I use body oils. I like to get out of the shower and then put body oil on while I'm still kind of damp. I get one called Kit and Kin on my Ocado shop, I'm a real high-low girl."

You've really nailed your signature, expensive-looking hair colour - is it high maintenance?
"It's taken me a long time to get here! Preference definitely helps because now I've got greys that I didn't have before. So, in between getting my highlights done, I can use this on my roots. And if I can do it, anybody can. Just use the gloves, wipe down surfaces. I do it when my boys are in bed, so I don't get the call, because then things could get very messy."

How about styling - will you do a full blow-dry routine at home?
"It's so funny because when I was living in LA, I could literally do nothing to it. Because the water is different. I'd go for a swim in my back garden and then split it, tuck the two sides behind either ear and twist it. And I'd sit there in the sun, it would just dry. I can't do that here, but I'm not very good at a blow-dry, so no, I don't do a lot with it in all honesty."

Has your routine changed in other ways since returning to the UK?
"I'm not outside quite as much, I'm not on the beach as much, so I do infrared saunas. I like that feeling, to your bones type of heat. I have to read a magazine to trick myself into staying in there, but I like that. I've done the hyperbaric oxygen as well. which seems to just give you a bit of energy."

Are there any US products you miss?
"There was a mascara that I used to use over there, but I've found the equivalent here - it's called Extensionist. Mascara is my thing, but you don't have to spend a fortune on mascara. And they're always best after you've opened them for a little bit as well."

You have a big birthday this year [Cat turns 50 in October]. Will 50-year-old Cat's beauty routine differ to your 40s or 30s?

"I think there's a certain confidence, you just feel comfortable in your own skin. You know the person you are and how much time you want to allocate to skincare and how much time you want to allocate to friends and family - because they're the people that put the twinkle in your eye. So I think the routine has slimmed down, but the products deliver more."

And how has your attitude to beauty evolved?

"I'm more invested in how I'm feeling as opposed to just what's on the outside. You'd think it would be the opposite, that you'd worry more about the outside because obviously you're ageing, but I actually quite like my face and I quite like who I am.

I think it's a privilege that we get to get older. I know lots of people who haven't had that privilege. Those things that really, really mattered when you were in your twenties really don't. You realise that as you get older, and I think that's something that's very much worth embracing."

"It’s all about that burst of cold freshness you get with a gin and tonic. Nothing pretentious," says Geza Schoen, Co-founder of Escentric Molecules and the perfumer behind the new fragrance. Naturally, when we caught wind of a new perfume launch that was directly inspired by a gin and tonic, we simply couldnt resist trying it for ourselves.

"I'm pleased to report that it does indeed smell just like a crisp, lime-garnished G&T, in the best and chicest way possible," quips Digital Beauty Writer, Naomi Jamieson. "It opens with a burst of herbaceous juniper (which gives gin its distinctive taste) and zingy lime, before its base notes of musk and ambroxan emerge - softening the blend into this spicy, clean and beautifully lingering aroma. Unlike some citrus scents, it's fresh but not sharp or clinical-smelling, and definitely feels like the sort of scent you could wear every day."
