Who says you can’t borrow clothes from your daughter? Toss the fashion rule book out of the window and embrace her style this season. With a couple of simple updates all her key pieces will work for you too.
We asked four mothers and daughters to show us how they style the must-have pieces this season. From layering a tunic over trousers, to the wedding guest dress you can both wear, watch the video for some simple tips and tricks that will help you double your wardrobe! (shhhh, we won’t tell her if you don’t…)
THE TUXEDO DRESS
Sue, 55, makes the tuxedo dress summer event ready by adding monochrome accessories and layering a cold shoulder top underneath for extra coverage, while Lucy, 22, makes it office appropriate by defining the waist with a belt and adding a structured bag. Wearing flats in the same tone will give the whole outfit an expensive look.
THE WHITE TROUSERS
Sue layers the fringed hem trousers with an oversized silky shirt dress, while Lucy keeps it romantic with a bell-sleeved lace top and continues the 70s theme with a saddlebag.
THE TUNIC DRESS
Abigail, 54, makes the tunic dress work-ready with chunky sandals and a roomy long strapped bag, while mother Judy, 80, dresses it down by layering it over slim fit jeans and a t-shirt.
Judy keeps the culottes simple and wears with a classic Breton top, while Abigail gives it a little edge with a soft suede biker and tonal colours.
THE SLOUCHY TROUSERS
Bea, 50, picks out a colour, white, in the printed trousers, which makes the whole outfit look coordinated and polished. Daughter Shervon adds block colours in luxe fabrics for an evening take.
THE STRIPED DRESS
Bea elevates the striped dress with a structured sleeveless blazer and an attention grabbing shoe, while Shervon keeps it relaxed and layers it over a t-shirt. Silver flatforms add a sporty element.

THE PLEATED SKIRT
Lucy, 34, dresses the pleated skirt down with a relaxed leather look jacket, while Gillian, 61, elevates it with low heeled sandals and a ladylike top-handled bag.
THE TAILORED JACKET
Gillian adds trousers and a cami top to the jacket for a tried-and-tested classic look that will work day to night. Lucy keeps it monochrome for a more timeless appeal.
