Sue's Blog: The Cheltenham Literature Festival
I've had the most fabulous time over the last week at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, which started last Friday. We - yes, my husband and I (I always seem to be telling you things I'm doing with my girlfriends!) - decided to make a weekend of it.
The great thing about Cheltenham is that in just a couple of days you can hear so many wonderful people talk. From authors and actors to comedians and writers - everyone shares their life experiences. It's such a unique atmosphere with no paparazzi intrusion or hype - just like being invited to the set of a TV talk show! There's audience participation with Q&A sessions at every talk.
We listened to a great mix of interviews, talks and debate including everyone from Jo Brand, Stephen Fry, Libby Purvis, David Mitchell and Robert Webb, Max Clifford and the amazing Judi Dench.
I wished I could go back. And luckily on Wednesday I did, when w&h hosted a special lunch with James Martin, followed by an evening event at Chelthenham Town Hall.
Over 100 readers joined us at Hotel Du Vin for a delicious lunch with the dishy celebrity chef. It was an incredible success thanks to James who made a brilliant host. He sat and chatted at all the tables and signed his new book, My Kitchen, for all the guests. There was no doubt these were ladies who lunched - with the perfect male accompaniment!

If you fancy a slice of culture, then do check out the Cheltenham Festival website where you can see the best of talks to come, before the festival closes at the end of the day on Sunday.
Have great weekend,
Sue
