Sue's blog: autumn entertaining
Tart recipe
I'm really looking forward to this weekend as we've got some great friends coming to stay, so we're going to have a really good catch-up.
On Saturday the boys are going for a round of golf, while we head off to the Wallace Collection for a dose of culture. If you haven't ever been, I can't recommend it highly enough - it's a wonderful gallery with a fabulous collection of paintings, furniture and porcelain...and the café's great for a coffee-stop too!
Then in the evening, inspired by Food Ed Jane's latest menu, I'm planning to serve beetroot, pomegranate and goats' cheese salad, followed by venison and butternut stew (so easy but so delicious) and for dessert calvados apple and custard tart. Again, the tart is a simple recipe, but a great one for impressing visitors!
Having guests has made me realise it's time to invest in a few new buys for the kitchen and dining room, though. This week, I've been busily ordering new cutlery and saucepans from our own shop - do check it out as there are some great offers at the moment.
Hope you have a good weekend too!
