Sue's Blog / Sweet smell of success
What a great way to start my week: being invited to the press day at Chelsea Flower Show! You know it’s going to be either really hot or really damp at the show and this year it was rainy, but I didn’t let that spoil the fun.
When I arrived, the gardens and displays were having the finishing touches put to them and we had to weave our way through film crews, journalists and photographers from all over the world, all desperately trying to nab exclusives -- I discovered that new season flowers are as hot as the new fashion collections.
I rubbed shoulders with Michael Parkinson and his wife Mary who were there to enjoy the new 'Parky' rose launched by Harkness Roses and Joanne Lumley had an exquisite double fuschia named after her. What a wonderful idea, and I wonder which flower would truly represent woman&home! Why not email me with your suggestions?
I was thrilled to see Andy Sturgeon has won a gold medal for his garden. He is a really great designer – and a nice guy too. He gave us some brilliant tips that you can read in June’s woman&home.
