Dips are the ultimate simple snack, perfect dinner-party starter and ideal last-minute party food. You can dip most things, from seafood to sausages and the popularity of the dip has emerged from a rich tradition of cuisine around the world, from Mexican to Middle Eastern cuisine.
Many of Britain’s favourite dips have their foundations in the mezze. This is a key element of the diet throughout the Middle East and through parts of the Mediterranean including Greece. It is traditionally a communal family-oriented way of eating, served as a starter – ideal party food.
