Turkey Burgers With Chorizo
A great turkey burger with a spicy twist and melted cheese will definitely hit the spot. The chorizo goes so well with the turkey, giving a subtle hint of heat.
- 120g diced chorizo
- 500g turkey leg mince
- 1tsp smoked paprika
- 4 slices of cheese (we used Manchego)
Chorizo is a cured and smoked sausage that has a deep red colour as it is seasoned with dried smoked pimenton peppers and smoked paprika. This rich and flavourful Spanish sausage is a great addition to these turkey burgers, making them a truly special summer bite.
These turkey burgers are even better when topped with cheese. We used Manchego, in keeping with the Spanish chorizo, but you could use any sharp, flavourful cheese. Serve them in toasted buns with all your favourite toppings. We topped ours with pickles, slices of tomato and baby gem lettuce.
Burgers are always a hit at a barbecue, so make a change from regular beef burgers and try these tasty turkey burgers with chorizo.
- Combine the chorizo, turkey mince and paprika in a large bowl; mix with your hands until well blended. Shape the mixture into 4 burgers. Grill the burgers for 5 mins on each side or until cooked through. Top each burger with a slice of cheese and cook until melted, around 1 more min.
- Serve on burger buns with pickles, slices of tomato and baby gem lettuce.
