Ingredients
- bottle of white wine
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 6 cardamom pods
- ½ sliced lemon
- a cinnamon stick
- 5tbsp caster sugar
- Pour 1 litre (1¾pt) cider
- 2 lemons
- 2 fresh bay leaves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2tbsp caster sugar
- Heat 1 litre (1¾pt) cranberry juice
- mulling spice sachet
- 1 sliced orange, the juice of 1 more
- 5-6tbsp caster sugar
Preparation
Mulled white wine with cardamom
This is spicy and delicious. Warm a bottle of white wine with 2 sprigs fresh rosemary, 6 cardamom pods, ½ sliced lemon, a cinnamon stick and 5tbsp caster sugar. Heat until the sugar melts and the raw alcohol flavour burns off. Serve in heatproof glasses.
Mulled cider with bay
Pour 1 litre (1¾pt) cider into a pan with 2 lemons, 2 fresh bay leaves, 2 cinnamon sticks and 2tbsp caster sugar. Heat until the sugar melts and the raw alcohol smell burns off, then serve in heatproof glasses.
Mulled cranberry with orange
Heat 1 litre (1¾pt) cranberry juice with a mulling spice sachet, 1 sliced orange, the juice of 1 more and 5-6tbsp caster sugar. Heat until the sugar melts. Serve in heatproof glasses.
