Woodlands Dairy sheep's yoghurts

Woodlands Dairy in Dorset is a specialist producer of award-winning sheep's yoghurt and is the leading brand in the UK. It is family owned by Sue and Crispin Tweddell, and uses traditional yoghurt-making techniques.

Sheep's yoghurt has many health benefits, including helping to reduce cholesterol. It also has more protein and clacium than cows' yoghurt. Sue and Crispin keep the process simple. Yoghurt culture, rich in probiotic goodness, is added to the milk, which has been heated and pasteurised. Then traditional "hot-potting" is done, when the yoghurts go into a warmer for a few hours until they're ready to be eaten - this ensures the proteins remain strong, offering maximum digestive goodness. The yoghurts then set naturally in their pots. It is much easier for the body to digest than cows' milk yoghurt, thanks to it being rich in polyunsaturated fats that help increase lactose absorption.
