Viña San Pedro – 35º South Wines
In its homeland and in the UK, Viña San Pedro is best-known for being one of the leading Chilean wineries, with iconic brands such as Cabo de Hornos, (one of Chile's first ultra Premium wines), 1865, 35º South Reserva and the multi-Award winning Castillo de Molina range.
Named after the line of longitude that runs through the heart of one of San Pedro's first vineyards, Molina, 35º South is San Pedro's easy-drinking, fruit driven, range of wines which can be enjoyed with or without food. With five reds, three whites and a rose, 35º South is a comprehensive range, covering just about every varietal being grown in Chile today.
Two of the more popular varieties (which were served at the Bobby Moore Fund lunch) are the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Sauvignon Blanc. The former is created from three different vineyards, with different climates, which results in a wine with real black fruit depth and roundness. It is perfectly matched with red meat and rich cheeses. The latter is a classic Chilean Sauvignon Blanc, really refreshing and vibrant, with all those lovely fresh grapefruit and pineapple flavours, a delightful wine that can be enjoyed with fish, grilled chicken or salad.
The 35º South range of wines can be purchased from Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury's at around £4.99 a bottle.
