She may be celebrating her 50th birthday, but Davina McCall is certainly not slowing down with age.

The presenting star, who turns 50 this Monday, 16th October, is looking better than ever, and regularly takes to her social media to show off the results of her healthy lifestyle.

Davina is a keen fitness devotee, and isn't shy about sharing how her she works to maintain her slender figure.

But while she's looking and feeling confident in herself in her 50s, she's also recently discussed the the inevitably difficult symptoms of the menopause.

Speaking to The Telegraph's Stella magazine, she confessed that her initial symptoms left her feeling similar to her ‘junkie' days, when she was attempting to go cold turkey from her drug addiction.

"The first time I noticed something was happening to me was when I got terrible night sweats.

"For me as an ex-junkie, the night sweats were terrible because it reminded me of going through cold turkey at night and waking up in a pool of sweat."

She also admitted that she suffered a huge brain fog, saying, "It was effecting my ability to read the autocue,", before revealing that her libido plummeted while her tiredness levels hit the roof."

However, it seems as though the tricky life stage has eventually only made things better for Davina - especially between her and husband of 16 years, Matthew Robertson.

After realising she was going through the menopause, Davina spoke about how she turned to the common menopause treatment HRT, and the remarkable benefits its brought her.

"All my symptoms stopped overnight. I'm not endorsing it. It was a personal decision."

Davina also admitted that - contrary to the menopause leaving her feeling sluggish and unattractive - it's now left her with a more spontaneous and exciting sex life with husband Matthew.

She shared, "I feel, in a funny way, it's almost more attractive that I can't have children, because now I don't need to take contraception.

"There's a certain friskiness that comes about that. There is a confidence that comes with age."
