How Princess Charlotte Has Already Overtaken Her Mother The Duchess Of Cambridge As A Style Icon

At just two years old, Princess Charlotte has already established herself as a style icon. The outfits she wears often sell-out a matter of hours after the designer names are published.

Favouring floral dresses with collars and adorable Mary Jane shoes, the toddler already has her very own iconic look.

Her style is one that millions of mums around the world attempt to emulate on their own children. When dressing Charlotte, the Duchess of Cambridge sticks to a classic look that doesn't date - something she also does with Prince George's ensembles.

But it seems that Charlotte's signature style means that she's actually overtaking her mother as a royal style icon.

According to research from eBay, the littlest royal - who is soon set to be a big sister - has overtaken Catherine as the royal who generates the most sales from people attempting to bag an outfit she's worn.

Princess Charlotte reportedly sent eBay's traffic through the roof during the families recent tour of Germany. It seems shopper were desparate to get their hands on her pink Liberty smock dress, with a six-fold search increase on the item at the time. In comparison, only 37 searches were recorded for Catherine's dress.

Similarly, an outfit worn in a official photograph for Charlotte's second birthday sparked an upsurge in interest.

Speaking to Hello magazine, eBay's Murray Lambell revealed, "Her yellow cardigan worn in her birthday picture sparked the biggest percentage increase in searches for an item of clothing worn by any royal."

It seems as though the youngest Cambridge really is overtaking her mother in the fashion icon stakes!

During the families 2016 trip to Canada, Charlotte was dressed in array of collared smock dresses, usually co-ordinated with her mum's or George's outfits.

The first outfit of the tour was an adorable, blue, floral, smock dress, the perfect choice for her first public outing since she made her public debut in the family back in June.

The family also attended a Royal Garden party, where all eyes were on Charlotte and George as they enjoyed their first public play date.

Charlotte was dressed in a delightful £74 Pepa & Co hand-smocked dress. To keep her warm this was paired with a blue cardigan from Amaia, a hand-me-down from Prince George who wore it to meet Princess Charlotte the day she was born.

To celebrate The Queen's 90th birthday the young royal was pictured perching proudly on her grandmother's knee. Her outfit is very similar to those we have seen her wear before, and this is reportedly because the Duchess of Cambridge doesn't want to cause a 'fashion frenzy'.

Her white shoes were from Early Days, and are the 'Emma' style, £29.

Her adorable floral dress was by Spanish retailer m&h Tiendas, a brand she's already worn in previous official photographs...

In her first official portrait, Princess Charlotte wore a pretty Margarita Pato Cid dress. But after the image was released, the retailer was inundated with requests from individuals keen to snap up a copy:

"I have had inquiries from as far afield as America, but the material will do for 22 dresses at most," the brand's founder Margarita Pato Cid told The Daily Telegraph.

"I can't get any more because the factory that makes it in Valencia has moved on to material for summer 2016 and next winter."

But it's not just her adorable dresses that have made her a young style icon. Remember that adorable family ski trip in early 2016? Princess Charlotte looked cosy in a John Lewis Baby wadded snowsuit, and hat from Scottish heritage brand Johnstons of Elgin.

But of course, Charlotte isn't the only influential young royal when it comes to fashion.

Her older brother Prince George has also helped sales of certain items of clothing soar during his four years on the planet. Designer Rachel Riley, who has created a lot of the young Prince's outfits, said: "Of course we get a spike on the website - he's a high profile baby."
