You Are Invited.....To The Valentino Show!

by Angela Kennedy on Thursday, 3 January 2013

Valentino: Master of Couture is a must-see spectacular fashion exhibition in the iconic setting of Somerset House, London, which has the added distinction of being home to London Fashion Week.

This masterful exhibition, celebrating over 50 years at the top of the glamorous global fashion scene, focuses on haute couture - and you will never see clothes more exquisitely executed or designs more flamboyantly crafted.

Since the 1950's Valentino has dressed Royals and fashion royalty from iconic names like Jackie Kennedy Onassis and Sophia Loren to modern day superstars such as Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. He is the King of the Oscar Ceremony and never fails to stun!

Curated as an elegant catwalk showcasing over 130 unique designs, there are 60's mono minis and animal prints ,70's dramatic florals, 80's chiffons, through to present day beautiful pleated evening gowns. And always his signature 'Valentino red' is liberally dotted throughout with the show stopper star turn - an intricate red rose tulle puffball dress.

Nosy fashion purists will love a sneaky look at personal memorabilia, like the hand written thank you letter from Anna Wintour and would-be fashion designers will relish the finale featuring visual demos of couture techniques which perfectly illustrates why couture is as unique as it is and costs what it does!

Valentino: Master of Couture is on until 3 March, 10am-6pm daily.
Late night openings Thursdays until 9pm.
Admission £12.50, Concessions,£9.
