Victoria Beckham's closet is packed with bespoke pieces from some of the world's finest designers. And now she's selling off 600 items...
6 August 2014
Victoria Beckham has a wardrobe most of us can only dream of. Filled with bespoke creations from her designer friends, including Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs and the late Alexander McQueen, it’s a real treasure trove that wouldn’t look out of place in the V&A collections. But, instead of keeping those iconic pieces in storage for daughter, Harper, or donating to a museum, she’s decided to sell off 600 pieces on Net-a-Porter’s sister site, The Outnet.
Victoria was moved to act after getting involved with charity, mothers2mothers, which aims to eradicate pre and post-natal AIDs. Run by Annie Lennox’s husband, gynaecologist Dr Mitch Beeser, the charity has attracted the support of some of the biggest names in the fashion world, including Victoria’s great friends Anna Wintour and Stella McCartney. The American Vogue Editor inspired Victoria to travel to South Africa and spend time at a health centre. The singer-turned-designer returned home racking her brains for ways she could help, and this online fashion sale is the result.
And, while 10 of her most iconic ensembles will be auctioned off, Victoria insists that there will be pieces everyone can afford in the sale – which runs from 20th to 25th August. Take a look at what’s on offer now…
Victoria put the humble skater dress firmly on the fashion radar when she wore this vintage green number to sit front row at Chanel’s Fashion Week show in Paris in 2007.
The British designer was joined by good friend Katie Holmes and met Karl Lagerfeld for the first time at the event.
Victoria has previously remarked that this dress always reminds her of that memorable weekend.
Victoria famously wore this Ballerina-esque, Anna Sui number to a private dinner at the Valentino Chateau in Paris in 2000.
Hobbling across the palace cobbles in a dainty pair of chic Manolo Blahniks, Victoria later hailed the evening as her very own ‘Carrie Bradshaw’ moment.
Credit cards at the ready ladies, this one is going to fly off the shelves.
We loved this dress the moment the Victoria stepped out wearing it for a spot of post NYFW shopping in 2012.
The preppy print and sophisticated pencil skirt, make for a very curve flattering silhouette. If we’re lucky enough to snap it up we’ll definitely be taking heed from Victoria and teaming it with a deep red cardigan and smart leather satchel.
Victoria channeled her inner Californian girl when she wore this bohemian Roberto Cavalli skirt to a Beverly Hills party in 2005. The fruit-printed, lightly tiered fabric is laid back but eye-catching.
Cavalli was one of Victoria’s favourite designers around this time, so it’s likely there will be a few more of his floor-sweeping pieces in the final auction line-up. Keep your eyes peeled.
Victoria snapped up this waist-cinching Alexander McQueen illusion dress straight off the catwalk and was the first A-lister to wear it in 2009.
The British designer debuted this stunning £1,150 ‘it’ dress when she flew all the way to Milan for a very special date night with husband David – who was signed to A.C. Milan at the time. Aww.
