ITV's Clean Break: Everything You Need To Know About Sheridan Smith's New Show

It has been an exciting year for actress Sheridan Smith. Just a few months ago it was announced that she had secured a record deal and she has been busy in the touring production of Funny Girl.

And her latest role for ITV's drama Clean Break offers the opportunity for another compelling performance from the actress.

The news broke that ITV had cast Sheridan in Clean Break at the start of the year. With filming said to have started this autumn, we are itching to see it all unfold on our screens...

ITV Clean Break: Everything We Know So Far

Clean Breakis a six part series which tracks the life of an ordinary working class woman caught between two worlds.

Sheridan's character Sam is a cleaner with an online gambling addiction. She gets access to illegal trading information and spots a way to escape her current lifestyle, but what will the consequences be?

Written by newcomer Mark Marlow, the tag line for the show is: "Why should they be the ones to cut corners and get rich, but we're the ones who get shafted?"

Sam finds herself balancing life as a loving and devoted mum with the dark and dangerous world of insider trading.

Working as an office cleaner, Sam decides to take advantage of working in Canary Wharf and the access she has to the lucrative Stock Market information.

The ITV drama explores how far Sam is prepared to go to get her life back on track. With her husband threatening to take custody of their two daughters, it seems there is no extreme Sam will not consider.

Speaking about the show Polly Hill, head of drama at ITV, said: "It's such a wonderful script that finds real humour and joy in the human struggle to survive. Sheridan is perfect for the role of Sam and I'm thrilled she's returning to ITV to play her."

Filming starts in London this autumn but an air date has not yet been confirmed.
