This Morning presenter, Ruth Langsford made a rather embarrassing slip up during an interview with Zoe Ball for Strictly: It Takes Two. Oops!
She accidentally called Anton, her Strictly dance partner, her husband’s name Eamonn! Ruth was talking about performing the Charleston on last week’s show and how much she had enjoyed it.
Ruth said: “I loved the Charleston, because my grandma taught me that. So when Eamonn…Anton taught me the steps, I said, ‘Oh my granny taught me that!'”
The Loose Women panellist was completely unfazed by her slip up. She was surprised when Zoe highlighted the mix-up but quickly replied: “Did I? Oh, they’re just moulding into one now!”
Although Eamonn hasn’t commented on Ruth’s mix up, it seems he has been on hand to support her through her Strictly journey. Speaking on Loose Women on Monday, Ruth revealed that the couples’ time together is currently short but well spent.
She told her fellow panellists, “He’s so supportive. I have to say, [Eamonn is] so supportive. He books Sunday roast dinner, he has a gin and tonic, a bowl of ice for my feet. So he’s been very supportive.”
Then Ruth added, “There’s not much time for love can I say…. You know what I mean?”
Eamonn, on the other hand, has been grumbling about being a “Strictly widower” ever since Ruth started dedicating more time to the show, but she insists his comments are “tongue-in-cheek”.
It has led to one or two rather funny photos emerging of Eamonn and a cardboard cut out of Ruth which he says is keeping him company while Ruth trains. The cut out is becoming so popular that even Anton got in on the action…
Eamonn posted a picture on Instagram of himself and Ruth’s dance partner fighting over the cardboard cut out.
With all this going on Ruth was probably more focussed on her next performance. Last week’s performance went much smoother than the first show and Anton has been outspoken about Ruth’s potential to go all the way.
The 57-year-old came ninth on the leader board for her Charleston with 20 points. This leaves her joint 11th, when combining the scores for week one and two.
She shares this spot with TV chef Simon Rimmer and his dance partner Karen Clifton. The pair have a total of 36 points, which leaves them 28 points behind Debbie McGee and Giovanni Pernice who hold the top spot.
Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday to BBC One at 6.35pm.
