She may have left the Great British Bake Off behind, but Mary Berry certainly knows how to keep making winning TV shows.
Her series, Mary Berry Everyday, has been met with praise from fans. And it was recently announced that the former GBBO judge would be taking the helm of another new BBC cooking show, Britain’s Best Cook, alongside none other than Claudia Winkleman.
The show will see contestants battle it out in a set of culinary challenges, to prove that they are in fact the best cook in Britain.
Mary will be judging the chef’s offerings, while Claudia has been cast as presenter for the show.
And now, Mary’s fellow judges have been revealed – and you may well recognise them.
First to join Mary on the judging panel is fellow TV personality Chris Bavin, who is perhaps most well-known for the show Eat Well For Less, which he presents alongside Gregg Wallace.
Dan Doherty will also join the show as a judge. He is the Chef Director at the highly-esteemed Duck & Waffle restaurant, based in London’s The Shard, and it’ll be his first foray into the world of TV.
A brand new photo of the line-up has been released, showing the stars sharing a cup of tea around a dining table – and we reckon it’s a pretty great bunch.
Discussing her excitement about welcoming her two fellow judges to the show, Mary has said, “It’s an absolute joy to be judging truly passionate home cooks with Dan and Chris.
“Like our contestants, we each have different backgrounds and ways of looking at food. I have to admit the boys have already taught me a thing or two!”
Chris also spoke about the foodie experiences he plans on bringing to the show.
“I’ve spent 20 years in food produce and know that a good understanding of ingredients will be key to giving us delicious dishes, but just as important is the ability to adapt and be resourceful.
“Anyone who cooks will know that in a kitchen anything can happen!”
Dan Doherty added, “Right now British cuisine is more exciting and diverse than ever – we’re a nation of home cooks with different influences and hidden talents.
“In the competition I’m looking to discover which of our competing cooks has the technical ability and creative skill to deliver inspiring and inventive dishes.”
He also tweeted a picture of the line-up, revealing how excited he was to be joining the show.
Britain’s Best Cook is set to air later this year, and is already being touted as the BBC’s ‘new Bake Off‘, following the baking show’s departure for Channel 4 last year.
With Mary, Claudia, Chris and Dan at the helm, we’re sure it’ll go down well with cooking fans.
