Good news for this weekend's TV, as well as the debut of new show Finding Alice, we've just found out Dancing on Ice will go ahead as scheduled. ITV confirmed the airing, despite five crew members testing positive for Covid-19.

It was feared that the much-loved show would be canceled after crew members tested positive for Covid-19, but Dancing on Ice is going ahead this weekend.

Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield will return to host the show this Sunday. Skating icons Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean will also be returning to the judging panel, alongside John Barrowman and Ashley Banjo.

ITV confirmed there are strict covid-19 measures and precautions in place when filming. A spokesperson told the Metro “We have had a robust set of measures in place ever since work on the series commenced in order to operate safely within Covid-19 guidelines and to ensure the wellbeing of everyone connected with the production”

The spokesperson went on to say “The welfare of everyone who works on Dancing on Ice is our first priority.” They are urging all staff to abide by the strict rules and have put perspex separators between the judges. There will also be no live audience around the skating rink.

Hopefully, we will not see a repeat of last year, where two contestants, Nicola Adams and Katya Jones, had to quit the show after testing positive for Covid-19.

ITV has also announced that there will be a new twist to the competition. The judges can now give one couple a ‘Golden Ticket’ which takes them through to the next round and makes them safe from the public vote.

The exciting new series starts this weekend with famous faces: Denise Van Outen, Myleene Klass, Faye Brookes, Jason Donavan, Sonny Jay, Colin Jackson, Lady Leshurr, Rebekah Vardy, Graham Bell, Joe Warren-Plant, Rufus Hound and Billie Shepard.

Dancing on Ice is on Sunday, January 17, at 6pm on ITV.
