Can sporting triumphs raise the mood of the nation?… Today’s Debate

No prizes for guessing which sporting triumph we’re talking about today! After a bitter fight in blistering temperatures of up to 40 degrees on Centre Court, Andy Murray finally scooped the coveted Wimbledon trophy – trumping world No.1 Novak Djokovic in straight sets of 6-4, 7-5, 6-4.
It’s been a long time coming – but yesterday history was made! Whether you follow tennis or not, there’s no denying Murray’s talent and determination. The sheer physicality of yesterday’s match was a spectacle to behold so we challenge anyone not to feel inspired by it.
Doesn’t it feel like the Olympics golden glow is back today? The sense of pride that a great British win like this can inspire in all of us has made us wonder whether sporting triumphs really can raise the mood of the nation.
