Davina may have fronted her own fitness DVDs, but exercise doesnt come easy…

‘I’ve always got a million other things I should be doing than exercise. There’s work, sorting things out for the kids; I want to be a good wife and make nice food for the family. But exercising is something I do just for me, and even though I don’t look forward to it, the minute I’m doing it, I think ‘I love this’, and I’m proud of myself for doing it.’

Davina is sugar-free…

‘I can’t go on diets – they make me want to eat! I am sugar-free, although I eat fruit and sometimes some honey.’

Gloria Hunniford inspires Davina…

‘One of my heroines is Gloria Hunniford, who’s in her seventies and as sharp as a tack; not nipped and tucked, just naturally beautiful, mainly because of her razor-sharp wit.’

Davina has her own long last family…

‘My cousin Claire, who is the daughter of my father’s sister, was adopted and came back to us 11 years ago when she went looking for her mother, who was called Sheila McCall. One of her friends actually said to her, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if you were related to Davina McCall?’ because we do look uncannily similar…When she was reunited with her mum, she got two uncles and me, a cousin, into the bargain.’

Davina’s had a ‘mad life’…

‘My parents separated when I was 3, and my mother moved to France. So, I was brought up by my paternal granny, Pippy, in Surrey until I was 13, then I went to live with my father and stepmother, Gaby. Even when I went massively off the rails with drugs, my foundations were still strong and that was thanks to Pippy.’

Davina renewed her wedding vows in Las Vegas recently…

‘We were only a family road trip, and I arranged it as a surprise. Initially, I think he was dreading it…But I said, ‘Don’t worry, we’re going exactly as we are’…We held hands and walked down the aisle to our first wedding dance, which was Angel by Sarah McLachlan, then we said our vows, which the children had written’.
