Catherine and William were hoping to see skipper Ainslie and his team, Ben Ainslie Racing (BAR) widen their one point lead in the America's Cup after winning two races from a boat. Unfortunately they were greeted by heavy rain and 30mph winds in Portsmouth instead. Further engagements for the day, including a royal tour of the waterlogged America's Cup festival site, also had to be postponed.
Still, the Cambridges seemed to enjoy chatting to organisers and the BAR crew on dry land.Catherine kept warm and cosy by teaming her fleece with blue skinny jeans and Sebago deck shoes. Her shoes are an old favourite which she has worn on several occasions, including during the state tour of New Zealand and Australia
when the couple went head to head in a sailing competition of their own in Auckland harbour which Catherine won. Her usual bouncy blow dry was swapped for an elegant wind-friendly pony tail.
Prince George, who turned two last week, stayed at the family home in Norfolk with baby sister, Princess Charlotte.
