How To Apply Foundation: Bobbi Brown foundation tips: Step one
We all want flawless, glowing skin, right? It’s the key to looking young and full of life. So learning how to apply foundation like a pro can be a huge asset to have in your arsenal. Evening out skin tone, hiding blemishes, brightening – you can see why it’s one of the most important items in your makeup bag. And the secret to achieving that clear, luminous base? Start with a primer. It’s great for creating a smooth, even base for your foundation to cling to, plus it can fill out lines and make skin look plumper, too – it’s a real wonder product. Almost as important as knowing how to apply foundation right? Choosing the right shade. The mark of great foundation is that it leaves no mark – you shouldn’t be able to tell it’s there, so try and get a shade that’s as close to your natural shade as possible.
What you use - brushes, sponges or fingers - is completely down to you, but there are a few things to think about when it comes to how to apply foundation properly to get that seamless finish. Start by applying it thin layers from the centre of the face, outwards. Concentrate on the areas around the nose, the mouth, the chin and the centre of the forehead and then blend out towards your hairline and jaw so it gets thinner as you go (that’s the secret to a natural-looking finish). If you have problem areas you want to cover up, don’t go straight for full-coverage – it can look like a mask (and make imperfections look much more obvious). Try using a sheerer coverage foundation and then use concealer afterwards to disguise the bits you want to hide, like spots, dark circles and redness. Finally? Dust with powder to keep everything stuck in place, and your skin looking glowing, clear and even all day.
