Am I the only apple shaped person in the world??

I am for my sins an apple shape guess I have to thank my Mum for that. The trouble is I don't know how to dress my shape now that I'm 53. I'm a size 14 and 5' 2" I'd like to be like the curvy or tall and willowy ladies in the magazine who always look so good. So ladies it's down to you - HELP!!!!!
