Instead of trying to get it dead straight which isn't all that easy, you could wash your hair & set it on very big rollers to give big,smooth, barrel curls instead of frizz. This works really well.

Especially effective if you put in some leave in conditioner before drying & use a bit of serum when it's dried. Don't take out the rollers until you're sure the hair is properly dry.
