I don't think you'll find that it's a theme park. It's a while since I was there so it might have changed but it's well worth seeing. How busy it is will probably depend on the weather, but when we went it wasn't crowded. The coastline on the Lleyn peninsula is lovely and some of the towns are quaint, but none are as pretty as Portmeirion. The Welsh language is widely spoken in the area.
