It sounds like you use a top and bottom sheet and a bedspread with your duvet - so may not need the same amount of washing. I just use a duvet with a cover (no top sheet) so wash the cover every week. The duvets I also wash fairly regularly the machine washable ones have to be done in extra large machine at local launderette -the others dry cleaned.
