Hi Lisa, am so sorry that your family has experienced this. I agree with much of the advice given by Skippy above. I would also add that Rethink a national charity which works with people who experience mental illness and their carers, offer suppourt to parents and carers like yourselfs, if only the opportunity to meet and talk to others in similar situations, which can be invaluable as familites feel isolated at times. I hope that things work out for your son and yourselfs, Dont be afraid to ask for help or advice if you need it. although doesnt seem like it now mental illness can be treated and your son has every chance of returning to 'normal' life.
