Hi Lisa - Welcome to the forum - Im so sorry to hear how you are feeling. All I can say is that he has at least been diagnosed and had the right treatment early on. A close family member has the same condition which went unrecognised for many years resulting in alcoholism too (as a form of self treatment)
Phycosis affects young men in their late teens in particular but If he takes his medication regularly he can lead a relatively normal life - it may need to be adjusted from time to time - and it takes time to get it right. Do you have the support of a CPN - they are usually very good in dealing with any problems that arise and just having someone to talk to.
When he is well he will be able to work and socialise- the majority of sufferers are not the violent types you hear of in the news. It will take time and alot of support but he will be ok. . Please pm me if you want to talk.
