Could you put it in on of those vacuum bag doodahs? Then put it under a bed or in the garage maybe? It would suck out all the excess air and make it less bulky. I do this with spare duvets and pillows. The gap under my bed isn't high enough to accommodate them in a storage box but with the vacuum saver thing they fit perfectly!
