Mrs T it stems back to when we were kids and my Dad was always working on Xmas day so we always had our main Xmas dinner on Xmas Eve. Having married a policeman who for many years was also working on the 25th I just carried on the tradition. I absolutely love it... We still down to eat at 6 o'clock sharp and stay round the table chatting for ages. Then it's a warm bubbly bath for D (8) before the ritual of the Mince Pie and Carrot etc. Then she's off to bed and we load the pressies round the tree. The beauty of it is once today is over I sooo look forward to tomorrow knowing my job is done. We have a huge brekkie in the morning courtesy of OH and then I lay out the table with all cold goodies, pickles, cheese etc and the day is stress free... I am not chained to the kitchen and can totally enjoy my kids on the day help D with anything she wants me to do... (S is 19 so he doesn't really need any help any more but I used to love helping him build his lego on the day instead of rushing out to the kitchen to check on the dinner)
Anyway that's the story behind it.... By the way dinner is at 6 sharp so you are very welcome...see you soon!!!
