Mummy, did Jesus eat Christmas Pudding?
      16/12/2008 15:46

She pushed the last Christmas card into the post box and sighed. That was the last one, well she hoped she had not forgotten anyone. The shopping bag was'nt as heavy as usual, money was tight, especially after receiving her Notice from work; that was the perfect Christmas gift! At least she only had the one child to think of, her friend, Louise had three and an elderly mother to worry about. Life was never supposed to be easy but somehow Christmas seemed to make things worse. Katie deserved so much more than she could ever afford and when she tucked her into bed that night Katie had said, " I don't need a Christmas present, Mummy because I've got you."
Later that afternoon, after Katie had filled her with overwhelming pride with her part as the Virgin Mary in the school Nativity play they both returned home and emptied the shopping bag. She had managed to stretch to a few Christmas treats for when granddad visited including a Christmas Pudding.
"Ooh lovely," said Katie wrapping her tiny hands around the plump pudding wrapped in shiny silver paper."Mummy, did Jesus eat Christmas Pudding?"
She wiped a tear from her cheek,"I don't think so sweetheart."
"I bet angels eat Christmas pudding though," she smiled.
"Oh yes, I am certain they do."
