They're not that bad and if you keep using them the hairs decrease markedly. Yes it does hurt a bit but no worse than plucking your eyebrows. Skin feels a bit tingly afterwards but soon calms down. I would say the hairs need to be about 1/4 of an inch for one to work properly.

I would only use one on my legs of course.
