DAY 101, Running On Empty??
      09/07/2008 09:03

Good morning girls, its horid here again today, I didnt get wet on my walk yesterday, but I probably will today.

After reading Sallys thread yesterday about having no motivation to do ANYTHING, and being rushed and pulled in all directions, and being tired all the time, it got me thinking.

ARE YOU GETTING ENOUGH???

TOP ENERGY FOODS???

One of the main reasons people reach for the sugary/wrong carbohydrate foods is because their running on empty, they need that quick fix to boost them thro the day.

Well we can change all that, you neednt be tired and irritable any longer. To maximize energy we need to include certain foods in our diets, especially those that boost the metabolism and sustain consistant energy levels.

The most important nutrient, required for production are the B complex groups of vitamins. Deficiencies in B vitamins can often be the underlying cause of poor adrenal gland function which results in energy slumps. Other metobolism-boosting nutrients include vitamin C, magnesium, zinc, iron,co-enzyme Q10 and the herbal plant Astragalus.

Top Energy Foods:

All type of sprouts - (seeds of legumes or grains that have been germinated) are high energy, life-enhancing foods that help improve, revitalize, strengthen and regenerate your body. They contain a high concentration of antioxidents as well as all the trace minerals, plus protien, enzymes and fibre. When seeds are sprouted, their nutritional power swells.

Grains - release energy slowly and give you a steady flow of energy instead of a quick high follower by a low. They are a good sourse of B vitamins which are needed to assist the spleen, your energy battery. Without the Bs you will definitely need a "jump start",

Oats - are not only packed with energy nutrients, but they help keep blood glucose levels at an even keel to maintain concentration and alertness. Enjoy a bowl of porridge in the morning for the perfect release of sustained energy throughout the day.

Parsley - is a nutrient powerhouse. It contains high levels of vitamin B12, more vitaminC than citrus fruits and just about all other known nutrients.

Raw vegitables - The range of B Complex vitamins, plus energy nutrients magnesium and iron, can be found in fresh veg, such as broccoli, asparagus and spinich. Broccoli is a good sourse of co-enzyme Q10, a critical nutrient for energy production at a cellular level.

Peache - have a high water content and have a laxative effect. They are wonderful in alkalinizing the blood stream and can be used to regulate the bowel and build the blood. Peaches are one of the best energy fruits because the body assimilates them very easily, giving an instant boost. Great in fruit smoothies. They are also great in helping eliminate toxins from the body and are a good food to eat in a weght loss programme.

Grapes - The theraputic value of grapes is thought to be due to their high magnesium content. Magnesium is invloved in the stage of the process that converts energy to glucose,

Mung beans- To feel full of beans, means you are busting with energy. And thats just what mung beans can provide you with; bags of energy.

Yams and Squashes - are packed with energy minerals and loads of vitC. Yams are also detozifying and balancing to hormones and blood sugar levels, ensuring that your energy supply is constant. Squashes motivate the circulation of energy meridians, especially strengthening digestive function.

Seeds - sunflower seeds are packed with with energy nutrients, get in the habit of carrying sunflower seeds around with you for when you need an instant energy pick-me-up.

Thats just a handful of foods that will keep you going thro thr day, enjoy!!

Good luck everyone, and welcome to the new starters.

xxx
