I think its important to use your local library otherwise they will disappear. I get books I am not sure I want to buy - if it turns out I don't like them then no money wasted. When we were young and lived in a small village my mum used to take us to the mobile library on Thursday nights - it was the highlight of the week for me!

I love my local library in London - it has a really good selection of up-to-date books and can get anything you want within a couple of days. Also a great selection of DVDs, and a really good book group. The staff are friendly and helpful; I'm a fan.

When I was little, like Bev, I loved the fun of getting new library books - it was one of my favourite things. Then I got out of the habit of using a library for years, partly because some of the books were pretty grubby and unpleasant

I still love bookshops and buying books but can't keep accumulating more and more, so I'm trying to use Oxfam Books more as well as the library, and give them back to Oxfam to re-sell

I use the library all the time. I'm lucky that I work right next to the main library in town, and borrow CDs and DVDs from there aswell as books.

Like Mags, I also buy books from charity shops, read them, then give them back.

Happy Birthday Lynne.....hope it's a good one!

One of the first things I do when we move to a new town is get a library card. Our local branch is really beautiful and sits high on a hill with a beautiful view to the mountains from one of the reading/study areas.

My husband and I are online regularly reserving books and he's the one who goes to pick them up. He often comes back with some extra books or CDs.

I can never take for granted the euphoria produced by a cup of coffee. I'm grateful every day that it isn't banned as a drug, that I don't have to buy it from a pusher, that its cost is minimal and there's no need to increase the intake. I can count on its stimulation 365 mornings every year. And thanks to the magic in a cup of coffee, I'm able to plunge into a whole day's cheerful thinking.

I use ours all the time. In fact I use more than one, depending where I am, which gives me even more choice. I try not to buy books these days as I hate to part with them and we already have five bookcases full of them.

I cannot understand people like my mother who on being asked if she used the library replied that she went in once and couldn't find anything to read!

I'm always going to the library, I do buy some books but I
read so much I don't think I could afford to buy all of them!
I've always enjoyed reading, been going to this library
since I was 5 years old, and that is a long, long time ago!

We have a teeny weeny library here that is open for 12 and 1/2 hours a week spread over 3 days...they are very good at ordering books from other branches...Ordered Janet Street Porters books recently and when the librarian left a message on my phone to say that they were in she said " Your Don't let the BLEEPS get you down and Life's too BLEEPING short are ready to be picked up from the library"

I love my local library and go all the time. I read a lot so would spend a fortune if I bought them all. I also go to Charity shops and buy books and have bought some great books from there.

Until I moved to Kent I used a library all the time. There was always a one locally, in a convenient place, and I would regularly take both Ds for a visit - they loved it!

In my current town the main library is in an awkward place to get to. It is a long way from the bus stop, and until recently there wasn't a car park nearby (I like to borrow lots of books at a time, so a convenient bus stop or car park is a must!). There is a smaller library near the supermarket where I shop, but I never think to use it - maybe I will now.

I've always loved the library but I don't use it as much now. I don't seem to be able to read the way I used to and I've always books in the house waiting to be read. When I was studying my local libarary was invaluable.
