I have had dogs to walk for over 30 years and in that time I think I have tried every sort of 'suitable' footwear, however I have to say that I have found Hunter wellington boots, or Huntress (which I buy are they are shorter and suit me as I am only 5'2") by far the most comfortable I can walk for miles in them, they are comfy and roomy even without socks! I have found them by far the best and they keep your legs and feet dry too!!! If I am walking my dogs purely on the pavement then I wear trainers (which I don't like) or if its dry sandals! Let me know what you eventually get?

I got boots from Hotter shoes which are really comfy and dry. They are only like hiking boots not up your leg but they are great and so easy to put on as they have velcro. I have painful nodules on my fingers and cant manage laces anymore so these were a godsend. They dont look bad either http://www.hottershoes.com/en/Womens-Shoes/GORE-TEX?DisplayProductList=true Mine are the first ones but in sand not blue

I've got some awful boots from Moshulu!
Navy nylon, calf length, pull on, wide at the top, but tighten up with a velcro strap at the top.
Nylony stuff, so waterproof, and the mud brushes off.
I keep them for snow, or muddy walks.

Hi desperate....have a look at the cotton traders web site...I've worn their walking boots and the suede slip ons for years...for me they are really comfy...do great colours...and not expensive. I do a lot of pavement walking with my dog...the slip ons look good with jeans, or walking trousers etc., casual - and smart

Just on my 2nd pair of Hotter Gortex walking shoes, have several others and always find them very comfortable. Their velcro styles always are so easy no messing around with buckles or laces. Ginny 45

I used to wear Hunter/Huntress wellies but the soles are horrible on slippery ground or wet grass (and if someone's going to sit down unintentionally it will be me!). I've now got a pair of Aigle ones and they're great. If it's not wellie conditions I wear a pair of goretex and leather walking boots (Karrimor Lady KSBs in winter and a pair of similar light weight walking boots from Decathlon in summer). If we're going out for a full day walk I'll probably use my better quality leather walking boots because although my KSBs are goretex they're no longer waterproof.

I usually buy mine from the local hiking gear shop. I choose the lightweight, waterproof, hiking boots rather than the heavy thick leather ones.
They wear really well & are very comfy, being made for the purpose. I've had several makes over the years, my current ones are Brashers. Usually buy the ones that are on offer.

I would also recommend Hotter walking shoes or boots, very comfortable and very hard wearing. My shoes have been worn almost every day for dog walking over the last 2.5 years and are just starting to break down a bit on the sole, but I must have walked millions of miles!!! (well, quite a few anyway!)

Hi there. I have two labrador dogs and when they take me for a walk (which isnt often enough if you asked them) i wear a pair of walking boots from Milletts. I find them really comfy and supportive which is very reassuring when they drag me through long grass etc.
hope you get sorted

Thanks ladies for all your help, I will check out the Hotter boots - they seem to be really popular with many of you! Hopefully I will have nice toasty comfy & dry feet on my winter walks!

I think I read somewhere that you should match the shape of the shoe to the shape of your foot. What are best for squarish shaped feet? I think the Karrimor ones I have are more for pointy feet.

Just taken a look on the Hotter site then googled around .There are some discounts available with this code MAEFPF.e.g £5 off and Free P&P and other discounts. Alas the ones I like are out of stock in my size.
